Feature Friday – The Wicked Naga

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Ari’s time with her human BFF in the mountains continues with The Wicked Naga. And, no lie, I’m going to have to read ALL of Monstrous Tales after this because I honestly don’t remember which of the other books Cin’s in.

But that’s a problem for next week, amirite?!?!

Anywho. Ari’s still hanging out at the cabin with Cin and the other ladies. Cin’s getting her sexy on with her girl-crush, Liz, and Ari kinda has to entertain herself.

Which, as you know, leads to one-on-one time with the hunky, dual-peened naga.

Yasssssss.

Release Date: March 15, 2014

Pages: 50

Genre: Monster Erotica

Ari’s weekend at the cabin has turned out to be eye-opening—she’s been propositioned by a frenemy and spent a scorching night in the lake with a merman. But the weekend’s not over yet and it’s just her luck there’s a snake-man in these mountains who’s looking for a sweet, young thing to spend some time with.

Ari’s adventurous and the naga is upfront about what he wants. But can she trust a half-man, half-snake who looks at her like she’s dinner?

This wicked naga might be deadly, but he also has a softer side. Ari just has to uncover it.

Warning: This book contains a monster with non-standard parts and a girl who has enough determination to see things through. It’s two for the price of one on the mountain and Ari couldn’t be more excited.

Feature Friday – The Wicked Merman

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

With Cin and Vane’s book WELL underway, I wanted to go back and a take a look at their first appearances in the Monstrous series. Vane’s introduction is pretty obvious (The Wicked Gargoyle), but Cin…well, I didn’t know she was going to end up the love interest of one of the monsters when she first stumbled on page.

Cin first appeared in The Wicked Merman as Ari’s best friend who basically forces her to join her for a long weekend up at her parents’ cabin in the mountains as a way to shake her out of her funk. She has no idea what’s going on with Ari at that point. She doesn’t know monsters are real and she definitely doesn’t know her best friend is pining for a green-skinned, tentacled sweetheart.

In a lot of ways, Cin’s a typical college girl. She’s open-minded and wants to spread her (metaphorical) wings to try new things. She has a crush on one of the other girls she invited to the cabin and wants to see where things go with that.

Monsters aren’t on her radar. And they won’t be for several more books.

Cin is just Cin. She’s fun and fun-loving. She gets a little bitchy when Ari tries to cooch-block her and she’s not afraid to let Ari know that’s not cool.

So welcome to Cin’s introduction. The bisexual, frizzy-haired, best friend of Ari has her own story coming. Let’s see where it goes.

Release Date: Febuary 24, 2014

Genre: Monster Erotica

When her friend drags her off to the lake for some much needed R&R, Ari thought she’d be getting away from supernaturals for a few days. Sunning and swimming sound divine and it might help her shake off the funk of being parted from her beloved Guardian.

But when a girl who loves monsters ends up at a lake housing a merman, she’s going to end up doing a lot more than swimming.

Ari can’t resist trying to find the answer to the age-old question: How do mermen have sex?

This wicked merman is more than happy to give her some hands-on experience.

Warning: This book contains a lake, a midnight swim, and an unexpected hard-on. Don’t let the fins fool you, this merman has all the right stuff to get Ari where she needs to go.

Looking Back on June

Looking Back on June at KellyApple.com

OH LOOK! Another month has gone by. HOW UNEXPECTED.

Ha. Right. So anyway. June has flown and I got THINGS DONE. For real.

The first book in the Monstrous World series is well under way (I’m nearly at the halfway point as of the writing of this post) and that’s FANTASTIC. Vane and Cin are getting themselves in (and out of) some gloriously bizarre predicaments and it’s been a blast revisiting them.

I’m participating in Camp Nano in July and plan on finishing up Heart of Stone and (potentially) starting the next book in the series. It honestly depends on the twists and turns in Vane’s story, though. But THAT’S another story for another day.

Until then…have a great month! Catch you on the flip side.

Feature Friday – The Wicked Gargoyle

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Since I’m close to the halfway point on Heart of Stone (psst, did you hear about that?!?!) and I’m wallowing in all things Vane (and Cin), this week’s Feature Friday is all about the grumpy gargoyle Ari drags into her circle of friends.

Helllllooooo, Vane.

Vane was introduced in The Wicked Gargoyle and he…well, he’s sort of a man of mystery. He doesn’t take center stage often and he has a few tricks up his sleeve that the others don’t.

And by that, I mean he can do a little magic.

MAGIC!

He’s also kind of grumpy and growly and FUN to write. So, there’s that.

(Maybe I should have started with Cin first since she was introduced earlier on in the Monstrous series, but my grumpy gargoyle wanted to be in the spotlight for once and who am I to deny him?)

Release Date: May 3, 2014

Genre: Monster Erotica

Ari’s on a mission—find and recruit monsters to help save her beloved Guardian. The more allies she can gather, the better her beloved’s chances of survival.

When she hears of a gargoyle hiding out in the bell tower on campus, she does what any other girl who loves supernaturals would do—she seeks him out to see what it’ll take to sway him to her side.

He might be made of stone, but this wicked gargoyle knows a good deal when he hears it and he’s more than willing to help Ari out.

Provided she can help him out first.

Warning: This book contains a rock-hard monster and a girl with few inhibitions. You can take the monster out of the bell tower, but just try to get him out of the girl!

Psst. I have news.

I’m far enough into writing Vane and Cin’s spinoff to feel comfortable sharing some details. No lie, though, there’s going to be a lot of vague and probably some innuendo. Because I just can’t help myself.

PLEASE NOTE: While this is my plan now, things are subject to change if the story takes a turn. My muse is finicky sometimes and likes to send my trains of thought onto entirely different rail systems. I’ve learned to go with it.

After some brainstorming, Vane and Cin’s story is going to be book 1 in the new (so new I haven’t even created a page for it) series Monstrous World. Their book is currently titled Heart of Stone (and it will probably stay that, but then again…!) and has the couple (along with a few others) going on a road trip.

Because road trips are fun.

On the downside, road trips with others do make it difficult for our oversexed monsters to find alone time so they can get their sexy on. I never knew cockblocking could be so much fun to write!

As of right now, book 2 is setting up to be Lon’s book. Because sasquatch’s need love too! HA. Actually, it’s because he and Ivy are currently on the hunt for something and I’d like to explore their journey.

HOWEVER…book 2 is a long way off and, again, sometimes the muse demands something I don’t see coming. So consider the book 2 thing to be VERY tentative. VERY.

Still, that’s a little of what’s in store for the monsters I’ve come to know and love. Road tripping, cockblocking, and adventure.

Feature Friday – Monstrous

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

I know I keep going on and on and on about these books, but I’m giddy with delight over (a) the series being complete and (b) how purty those covers look all together.

PLUS…books 1 & 2 are on sale right now.

COMPLETE SERIES! BOOKS 1 & 2 ON SALE!

OMG!

Ari’s story was interesting. Hopefully to read, but also to write. What started out as a fun/silly/sexy writing exercise one November ended up being over a thousand pages of horny monsters, found family, and growing up.

And most of that growing up was done by Ari.

Plus, I got to shove my monstrous characters into the light and make them come out of the proverbial closet.

And I’m not done with these characters yet. Ari’s story has been told, but a certain grumpy gargoyle starting whispering in my ear while I was writing Monstrous Revelations and Vane and Cin are going to have a little adventure of their own. (I’m a good chunk of the way into writing their book, so they’ll be here before you know it.)

But this is about Ari and her particular brand of crazy.

See how began. See how it progressed. See how it ended.

MAN, I love these monsters!

Monstrous Tales: The Complete Series has a new look!

Cover Reveal

It’s official! All three of the Monstrous books are shiny and pretty and I love them so hard!

SO HARD.

A quick explanation: While I had zero issues with the previous Monstrous Tales: The Complete Series cover, I wanted the three books (Tales, Matchmaker, Revelations) to have a similar look so a casual reader would know at a glance they were interconnected. Thus, the cover reimagining began.

And because I like to be difficult, I created these covers backwards from a chronological standpoint. Revelations became the template (because I looooooved how that one turned out on the first try). Matchmaker came second because that old cover REALLY needed to go. Tales was the final re-do because, uhh, it was.

Anywho. The Monstrous series is now complete and they ALL have gorgeous covers.

Let’s stop and look at them for a while.

Feature Friday – Monstrous Revelations

Feature Friday at KellyApple.com

Of all the Monstrous books, this one was probably the hardest for me to write. Not because of themes or story lines or anything like that, though.

Nope.

I just have a DARN hard time letting go. Knowing this was the last piece of Ari’s arc made me drag my feet on getting it out.

(For the record, I also have a hard time finishing reading series. If I told you the number of series I’ve read all but the last book on, you’d probably cringe. Heck, I’m cringing just thinking about it. *glances guiltily at my bookshelves*)

You know what, though? I did it. I wrote the dang thing. I wrote it and I got to give my monsters their day in the sun. Or at least get them out into public.

The revelations story line was one I’d been toying with mentally for years. Ever since Ari lamented that her friends couldn’t walk down the street like everyone else, I’d wanted to shove them out of the shadows.

AND LOOK AT THEM NOW. ALL MONSTROUS AND CUDDLY AND OUT IN THE OPEN.

*sniff* They grow up so fast, don’t they.

(And as often happens with me, I couldn’t leave well enough alone. A certain grumpy gargoyle is getting a book. Ultimately, that means that Ari and her boo aren’t technically done. They’re going to pop up on occasion and I LOVE THAT!

Vane and Cin’s book is tentatively going to be titled Heart of Stone and it should be coming later in 2019. YAY!)

Arabella Colton might be just a flighty nymph, but she grew up believing she was mortal and that puts her more in touch with the world than any of her supernatural friends. She can see the world getting smaller every day and she knows it’s only a matter of time before the supernaturals hiding (in plain sight and otherwise) are outed.

What’s a nymph to do when the monsters she loves are in danger? She goes on the offensive, of course. She’s going to force humanity to accept her friends whether it’s ready for the revelation or not.
