Feature Friday – Cursed Lives

You guys have no idea how much I adore Fen. I love my big, grumpy, grumbly hero something FIERCE!
The funny thing is book 5 was the one book I didn’t have a concrete outline on when I originally outlined the series. I knew it would roughly follow a Goldilocks theme, but as for who our Grimm was? Nope. No clue.
In fact, Fen wasn’t supposed to be one of the main characters in this series at all. He appeared a line at a time as I told Zel and Isobel’s story. The idea that he’d be the starting point for the line of cursed wolves hit me when I was working out how the cursed wolves came into being.
And, BOOM, Fen was born.
So, Fen. The jaded, tired youngest son of the cursed family who began all this craziness. As it turns out, he’s the only one who had an actual family. And, BOY, did he give making babies a lot of effort. LOL.
By the time Gretchen stumbles over him, he’s completely cut himself off from the outside world. He wants nothing to do with the pain of loving someone and having them ripped from him by time and circumstance. So he hides in the forest and ignores his responsibilities.
Which doesn’t work out so well for him when Gretchen stumbles into his life. Because she pushes and pulls and gets him to see how empty his life has become.
And then the magic happens.
Cursed LivesAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | KoboRelease Date: February 3, 2018

Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Growing up wild in Grimwood, Gretchen Malloy knows her corner of the woods like the back of her hand. Stumbling over a previously undiscovered cabin to explore is the highlight of her lazy summer days.
Only, the cabin she found isn’t empty and the brooding, angry man who chases her away is almost too much excitement for her tastes. For all she might not be wanted, Gretchen’s terminal curiosity sends her back again and again until an unexpected friendship blossoms.
Fen Grimm knows exactly what he is—the crusty old loner who’s given up on the world outside his cabin and who wants nothing to do with Grimwood or any of its many inhabitants. He’s already loved and lost enough and he has no need to watch another mortal age and die before his eyes.
If only Grimwood didn’t need him, he’d be content to live out the rest of his long days alone. But when the magic in the wood calls, a Grimm must answer.

What I’m Reading (a little contemp, a little sci-fi, a lot of good stuff!)

Oh, MAN, I’ve read a BUNCH of excellent books lately and I’m here to share them. Because I’m a sharer. I share.

First up, Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata. The best thing about Mariana Zapata books are that they make me want to read MORE Mariana Zapata books as soon as I finish one. Like, literally, I’ve never read just one MZ book in a row. It’s kinda amazing.
Now, this isn’t unheard of for me, but it’s not exactly commonplace, either, so take that into consideration when I say I read this book 2 times in a row AND ended up buying the paperback. (That last part was because I’m kinda smitten with the cover as well as the story. *flutters lashes at the cover*)
And in case you’re wondering, I read From Lukov, With Love after and absolutely loved it, too. True story, I never thought I was a fan of the slow burn until MZ. I’m as shocked by it as everyone else.

Staci Hart’s Work in Progress is up next and OMG, THIS STORY. I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of this bad boy and I loooooove it so hard. I mean, what’s not to love when a painfully shy blogger ends up married to an in-the-spotlight author and they fallllll so hard for one another.
Amelia and Tommy make my heart sing. Honestly, all Staci’s books do that, so this is nothing new. But Amelia and Tommy, man. They worked for me.

Ruby Dixon is easily one of my favorite authors. From her big, blue barbarians (Ice Planet Barbarians) to her Post-Apocalyptic Dragons (Fireblood Dragons) and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN, I devour these books as soon as they come out.
I finished Fire in His Veins Sunday night and *swoooooon*. This series continues to delight me and give me all the post-apocalyptic, shapeshifting alien loving I could want.
For real.
As for what I’ll be reading in the future…well, I have a Kindle full of good books just waiting for me to dive into them.
And on that note, I’m off to do just that.

Feature Friday – Cursed Touch

Yeah. It’s a Feature Friday on a Saturday. That’s what I get for not double-checking that I actually scheduled the blog post instead of just drafting it up. WHOOPS!
Anywho.
It’s time for Adria and Micah’s story. Their romance was inspired in part by The Little Mermaid. Except, instead of Micah losing his voice, he’s got a tiny case of “how in the world did I get here and who is this beautiful, grumpy woman?”
Which makes me laugh, because Adria is a wee bit sharp-tongued at times.
But they’ve got the star-crossed, fated-mates thing going on so it all works out in the end.
Cursed TouchAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | 24 Symbols | Kobo | InkteraRelease Date: December 27, 2016
Pages: 141
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Adria Grimm lives at the highest point in Grimwood. The stories of what would befall her if she ever ventured down the mountain to the forest’s edge are cautionary tales she’s always lived by. Becoming a slave to the curse that hides in her blood isn’t the fate she dreams of for herself.
When an injured man collapses on her doorstep, Adria reluctantly nurses him back to health. The man is aggravating and demanding and Adria can’t wait until he’s well enough to be on his way.
Waking with little memory of what brought him to the mountains, Micah Redfield has to piece his past together before he can complete the quest that drove him to this remote location. As it turns out, Adria has the answers he’s been looking for, but deciphering the clues she’s been left is only the beginning of their journey.
Working together, they will have to find a way to unlock the ancient magic hidden in the heart of the mountain before Grimwood itself falls.

State of the Kelly (January 2019)
Okay. Here’s a heads up about what you can expect here at KellyApple in the near future.
The Series Shorts are on hiatus until I finish writing the Monstrous Revelations series. Because (a) I want to focus on getting that series done and (b) I wrote A LOT of those shorts last year and need to recharge for a bit because I was starting to feel like I was retreading the same themes over and over again.
So. Series Shorts are on hiatus.
After overhauling the Monstrous Revelations covers and LOOOOVVVVVING them, I decided Monstrous Matchmaker: The Complete Series needs a new look. I have no idea when I’m going to find the time to get them done (next week? Maybe?), but that’s in the cards. Eventually.
Feature Friday will continue to go up every Friday with a focus on one of the books in my backlist. Because those earlier books are FUN and I want to remind people they’re out there.
I’m sure there’s more, but my brain has decided to poop out on me. I’ll blog again if I remember. (HEEE!)

Feature Friday – Cursed Bones

The 3rd Grimwood book introduces us to Isobel, the spoiled, willful twin sister of Zel. Except where Zel was stolen and forced into his life as a blood slave to a witch, Isobel brought most of her misfortune down on herself.
Or maybe you could say her parents’ inability to put limits on her after losing their son caused many of Isobel’s issues.
Isobel is wild and more than half-crazy after living out lifetimes alone in the crumbling summer house in the woods. Cade’s appearance starts her back on the path of sanity. Finding out what the manor has been hiding all these years and the part she needs to play to save the woods is the kick in the pants she needs.
Seriously, these poor Grimms are a mess. Such a mess.
Cursed BonesAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | 24 Symbols | Kobo | InkteraRelease Date: September 21, 2016
Pages: 143
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Once upon a time, Isobel Grimm had been the favored daughter of one of the oldest families in Grimwood. Prideful, arrogant, and vain, she found out the hard way that not all those she saw as beneath her are weak. Fleeing to her family manor hidden in the depths of the great forest seemed her only option when a powerful curse stole her looks and made her a monster in the eyes of most.
When an intruder invades her sanctuary, Isobel is forced to face some painful truths—she’s lived in solitude far longer than she realized and her problems are only the precursor for something far more deadly. For the trees in the forest are dying, stricken by a mysterious disease rotting them slowly from the inside.
In the manor hidden away from prying eyes, a pact has fallen and the entire forest is paying the price. As a Grimm, it’s Isobel’s duty to right this wrong and reverse the curse spreading across the land.
If she can’t, all of Grimwood may fall.

Monstrous Revelations 6 Out Now!

Would you look at that! The next installment of Ari’s story is LIVE! As with all the Monstrous books, it’s available exclusively at Amazon — for the LOW, LOW price of .99 — or you can read it free with Kindle Unlimited!
Monstrous ReasonsAmazonRelease Date: January 6, 2019
Pages: 54
Genre: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance
Things are on the verge of happening and Ari’s determined to see it end well for all her monstrous friends.
That means being proactive and enacting the first part of their plan to bring the monsters she loves into the light.
Will there be hurdles? Of course. The biggest of which is convincing the world the monsters who live among them aren’t as terrifying as they’ve been portrayed.
Changing the world’s perception seems huge, but Ari’s up for the job. Probably. And if she happens to find a couple or two to match up in the meantime, that’s just what matchmaking nymphs do, right?
Warning: This book contains family time. And sexy time. And adulting time. No worries, though, the nymph with a plan is entirely ready for all of it. Mostly.

Monstrous Revelations 3 has a new cover!

I almost forgot to post that Monstrous Rogues has an updated cover. YES! Now they all match.
(And MR6 should be going live soon. REALLY! ANY TIME NOW!)
Monstrous RoguesAmazonRelease Date: September 29, 2018
Pages: 56
Genre: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance
Ari Colton isn’t sure about this adulting thing.
Sure, she has the mating part down and she runs her own successful business, but there’s more to being adult than just boning and numbers. Sometimes you have to do the thing you feel in your heart even when others are dismissive of it.
Tracking down rogue shifters might seem like a fool’s errand to others, but Ari knows allies come in all shapes and sizes. She’s going to do her best to start with one dirty, hungry group living wild on the outskirts of town.
Supernaturals are stronger together and that includes the outcasts and rogues.
Now Ari just has to convince them to listen to what she has to say.
Warning: This book contains a cranky nymph and the friends who support her. There might also be new friends on the horizon if Ari can sweet talk them fast enough. As we all know, Ari knows how to turn on the charm when she needs to.

Feature Friday – Cursed Wolves

The Grimm family has had a rough time of it since Zel’s abduction by the witch. But they’re not the only Grimms affected by the craziness going on in Grimwood.
Cursed Wolves introduces us to Lucy Grimm, one of the cursed wolves of the wood. For all she’s a wolf, Lucy isn’t cunning or terribly brave. She’s sort of broken and lost.
Connor changes that for her. He’s her touchstone. Her reason to try to find a balance between the woman and the wolf.
And if she has to go a little fangy to protect him, she’ll do exactly that.
Cursed WolvesAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | 24 Symbols | Kobo | InkteraRelease Date: August 16, 2015
Pages: 134
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Lucy Grimm knows what it’s like to be on the outside. Ever since her curse kicked in on her 18th birthday, she’s lived in the woods on her own, cut off from everyone but the other cursed and slave to the cycles of the moon. Her one joy in life is spying on hunky Connor Redfield while he works at his grandmother’s inn.
Connor knows someone’s out there watching him, but he can never get close enough to catch them in the act. When he decides to take matters into his own hands and lay down a trap for the peeping tom, he doesn’t expect to end up with a bundle of nervous woman who runs every chance she gets.
He certainly doesn’t believe she’s one of the legendary cursed wolves that roam the woods.
For all that she’s fighting against herself, Lucy can’t help but like the burly lumberjack with a heart of gold. With the moon coming up on full, Lucy doesn’t dare trust herself when her wolf takes control. But Connor remains unconvinced and the more time Lucy spends with him, the more she longs to stay.
Can a cursed wolf find love with a mortal man? Or will her beastly side destroy her heart’s desire?

Monstrous Revelations 6 Cover Reveal

Ooooh. It’s time for the cover for Monstrous Revelations 6. ARE YOU READY?
For the record, while I TOTALLY know I said this about the last MR cover, I’m going to say it again…I am SO in love with these colors. They thrill me on a visceral level. (which sounds weird, but, MAN, I like how these covers are turning out.)
(And as a reminder, ALL the books in the Monstrous series are available to read FREE through Kindle Unlimited. GO CRAZY, MAN!)

Happy New Year (and Looking Back on 2018)

Where one year ends, another begins. (I’m saying that in a creepy, dramatic voice as I type, so please read it that way. PLEASE!)
Right. So, 2018 did its thing. Honestly, it kind of felt like 4 years rolled into one, but that’s how things are sometimes.
What magical things took place in the world of Kelly Apple? you ask.
Good question. Let’s see…
My release schedule slowed down a bit from previous years with only 7 books released.
Cursed Lives (Grimwood #5) – February 3
Cursed Heart (Grimwood #6) – April 25
Monstrous Connections (Monstrous Revelations #1) – July 20
Monstrous Planning (Monstrous Revelations #2) – August 23
Monstrous Rogues (Monstrous Revelations #3) – September 29
Monstrous Acceptance (Monstrous Revelations #4) – November 25
Monstrous Choices (Monstrous Revelations #5) – December 9
The good news? One series was completed. Some of those Grimms had to wait a fair amount of time for their stories to finally be told, but they got their time to shine and the entire series is available to read now.
Meanwhile, Monstrous Revelations is the final series in the Monstrous cycle and…I’m having a hard time letting go. Ari is willful and perpetually horny and I’m going to be sad to say goodbye to her once I write that final installment. (Which is coming! I swear! The series will be completely out in 2019. Just you wait!)
The Monstrous Revelations series also got a cover overhaul right before book 4 came out when I realized I DIDN’T LIKE the original covers. The cover for MR3 is allllllllmost done, so that one should be updating soon. -ish.
In non-bookish news, my day job took off toward the middle of the year which is good, but that’s one of the factors that slowed down my 2018 releases. That said, I have PLANS for my 2019 writing/release schedule. I’m not quite ready to share those plans yet, but THEY’RE COMING!
MR6 is slated for early January and will be exclusive to Amazon (as with all the other Monstrous books), so keep an eye out for that bad boy.
Here’s to starting the year off with a bang. Figuratively, of course.
