And In Other News – Monstrous Revelations 7 is coming!

This is kind of a fly-by update here. And it’s partially for me. Because sometimes I need a kick in the pants.
So. Monstrous Revelations 7 is coming. It was held up by that darn cover, which is MOSTLY DONE. I swear. As soon as I finalize it and do a final read-thru so I can make sure the blurb makes sense, we’ll be golden.
Which means I need to get off the computer and do my thing. That book won’t read itself, you know.
(The hardest part about this is that I’m heading off to Disneyland in a week-ish and I’m not having the easiest time concentrating. SHINY THINGS DISTRACT ME LIKE WHOA. Anywho. Let’s do this. Let’s bring Ari’s next story to life!)

Feature Friday – Echo

Okay. I have a few things to say about this book.
First off, I LOVE the cover of this one. This cover actually inspired the cover for the Lost and Found Collection just because I liked both the color play and the way the light is juuusssst peeking through on the bottom around his side.
(I’ll talk about this next week, but I have MAD love for the Lost and Found Collection cover. OMG. SO MUCH LOVE.)
So. Zoe and Thane. Not all books are easy to write and this one was…on the not easier side. It wasn’t HARD exactly, but it didn’t fall out of my head the same way the others in the series did. It also ended up being a little longer than the others in the series. Not substantially so, but it crossed the 10K word threshold which was on the upper end of what I was planning for these books.
Yep, Zoe and Thane got a wee bit more wordage than the other books in this series. Which is fine. More story for your buck, right?
EchoAmazonRelease Date: April 7, 2017
Pages: 71
Genre: Monster Erotica
When Thane Demarcos left home to travel the world, he never expected to end up stranded in a tiny mountain town so far from the water he can’t smell salt on the wind. For a Siren to be without the oceans close by is unheard of and he knows it’s only a matter of time before his family tracks him down to bring him home.
In the meantime, Thane’s stuck with a neighbor who takes in all the town’s strays and hardly remembers to care for herself. If Zoe Canton knew what was good for her, she’d stop spending all her money on dog food and start stocking up her pantry for the winter he can feel coming.
Fate being the tyrant she is, Thane and Zoe get unexpectedly snowed in and Thane finds himself grudgingly coming to understand the effervescent woman who cares too much. The more he learns about her, the more he comes to admire her.
Considering he’s bound to return to his watery home, this spells disaster for everyone.
Warning: This book contains a man who has exceptional allure and a woman who tries to live her life to the fullest. A round of drinks and karaoke for everyone. On the house.

Looking Back on February

You know, I had HOPED to have a cover reveal of the 7th Monstrous Revelations book go up this week but it’s not quite done. So…next week? That feels like a March type of thing, right?
Or maybe I’ll skip the reveal and just release the book as soon as I get it back from my editor. WE’LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS!
Anywho. February, man. It’s on its way out. And, BOY, was it a long one.
While I didn’t have a book go live this month, I DID finish writing the MR series. Which is sweeeeet because those last books were killing me softly.
What I’m trying to say is that books 7 and 8 are written. 7 is currently at the editor and 8 needs another read-thru before I feel confident I hit all the high points and closed out all those dangling threads. 7 will definitely be here in March. 8 probably in April. And by “probably”, I mean count on it in April.
As for what else is in store deeper into 2019, have I ever mentioned how much I love sci-fi romance? Because I love sci-fi romance.
Just saying.

Feature Friday – Dream

Oh, heyyyy. I have some Dream trivia for you today. Specifically, about the names of the characters and why they were chosen.
Since Cris is a nightmare and nightmares are typically associated with nighttime and (thus) the moon, I scoured the names of the seas on the moon for his name. Mare Crisium won the naming jackpot. Mostly because Crisium could be shortened to something mostly human-sounding. So…Cris.
Incidentally, Mara is the Old norse word for Mare, so…I’m guessing you can see where that came from.
Somehow I ended up down a mythology researching rabbit-hole and connected garnets (the gem) to nightmares. I couldn’t tell you how or where that connection was made, but Garnet’s name was a given after that.
Honestly, I usually choose whatever name fits the character for a book (sometimes the character evolves into their name and sometimes the name I originally chose doesn’t fit and they end up with a new one), but this was one instance where I actively worked on finding names that had meaning to the story being told.
There you have it. Cris Mara and Garnet in all their naming glory.
DreamAmazonRelease Date: March 22, 2017
Pages: 63
Genre: Monster Erotica
Cris Mara is tired of hiding his true self. This disillusioned nightmare is ready to show the humans what he can do with the abilities he’s been born with. At least he will be once he masters the skill to walk the nightmare plane at will, not just when night closes over his part of the world.
Garnet Douglas can’t stop dreaming about the man she sees in a coffee shop near her college. He’s dangerous and fascinating and his darkness calls to her in ways she can’t explain. When an unexpected encounter reveals that Garnet’s dreams aren’t as random as she thought, she has to decide whether she’s ready to believe in the world Cris is part of or if she’d rather keep her head buried in the metaphorical sand.
The world is teetering on the brink of a revelation and Cris and Garnet are only the beginning.
Warning: This book contains one surly nightmare who can’t quite keep from going off prematurely. If only he could find a lady who complemented his darkness he might be able to figure things out.

Feature Friday – Deep

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I knew the titles of this series (with the exception of Echo, which went through a couple of false starts before I settled on that one) before I ever started writing these books.
Actually, I had no intention of writing these books. Until, as sometimes happens, I jokingly told my BFF that I was going to write a series of monster books called Wisp, Deep, and Dream about a Wisp, a Kraken, and a Nightmare.
Oh, hey! Look! A series was created.
Deep is the kraken. Mikka is tired of hiding her monstrous self and has to make a decision about remaining on land in her human form or taking to the depths for the rest of her very long life. Neither option holds a lot of appeal for her since she loves the sea, but she also loves her freedom.
Enter Lars. He’s just a guy with access to a beach who wants to protect the mysteries he finds there.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Release Date: February 22, 2017
Pages: 43
Genre: Monster Erotica
As the world grows more technologically advanced, keeping herself hidden from the humans has become harder and harder for Mikka, one of the last krakens left in the great oceans. Weary of fighting and clearly seeing the writing on the wall, she’s ready to reveal herself and let the humans do as they will.
Amateur oceanologist Lars Lund is certain there’s a secret hidden in the saltwater cove near his isolated home. If he can figure out what it is, he can find a way to keep it protected. And maybe the lonely song he hears night after night will finally stop haunting him.
Mikka and Lars are on a collision path that will rock both their worlds. She’s a monster out of legend and he’s a man who doesn’t quite fit into the human world. Together, they might just find a happily ever after.
Warning: This book contains a monster of epic proportions and a man who sees more than he lets on. No tentacles were harmed in the writing of this book.

And In Other News…Monstrous Revelations

Guys. GUUUUYS. I’ve said this before and I’ll probably say is again, but the end of a series is sooooo haarrrrrddddddd. It doesn’t matter whether I’m reading it or writing it, I just don’t want to let go.
So when I say I have completed the final installment of Monstrous Revelations, I want you all to look SUPER impressed. I’ve been writing about Ari and her oversexed shenanigans for over FIVE YEARS. Sure, sure, I wrote things in between Ari’s sexin’, but she’s been in my head for a while now and I was dragging ass on getting this final series written.
Because I didn’t want it to end.
I DON’T WANT IT TO END.
But all good things eventually do and Ari and her crew deserve some downtime. I’m not saying I’ll never go back to them (I’ve already got a spinoff percolating), but they deserve their Happily Ever Afters.
(Who am I kidding? One of the ways I convince myself to finish writing is by reminding myself I CAN ALWAYS WRITE MORE IN THIS WORLD. And I probably will. I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but Ari isn’t the type of nymph who gets held down for long. She’s a fighter and if she wants another story told, the lady’s going to get another story. Dammit.)
I still have covers to create and blurbs to write, but the big stuff is done.
The final two installments will be coming soon. Are you ready?

Feature Friday – Wisp

Alllllrighty. Wisp. Will and his wonderful glow emerged fully formed from … err, my head. Which sounds weird. But it’s Will so, you know, I’m going to go with it.
The Forgotten Monsters series is loosely tied into the Monstrous series. And by “loosely”, I mean it’s set in the same world without any character overlap. In a way, it sets up Monstrous Revelations since it’s a world on the cusp of being revealed.
And if all the characters happen to hook up with their special someone, who am I to stop them?
But back to Will and Kaitlin. The wisp and his witch. Grumpy loner and misfit college student.
I dunno. They worked for me. But then, I like grumpy heroes.
WispAmazonRelease Date: January 25, 2017
Pages: 40
Genre: Monster Erotica
Living on the outskirts of society suits Will Quinn just fine. He’s one of the last of his kind and he’s grown weary of being the boogie man to the humans who dare each other to check out his presumably haunted cabin.
When a small group of humans from the local college show up to interrupt his solitude, Will is determined to run them off. He never expects a pretty coed to see right through his glamour to the heart of the man beneath.
With tensions rising in the monstrous community and the danger of being revealed an ever-present threat, Will must make a choice: Guard the secret of what he is or let the spark that is smoldering between him and Kaitlin become a full-fledged burn.
Warning: This book contains a man who’s much more than a Wisp. Not all monsters are created equal and Kaitlin’s about to get the type of education she never dreamed of.

Feature Friday – Cursed Heart

The final book in the Grimwood saga takes us back to the couple who started all the craziness in the first place. Lorianne and Alistair Grimm.
To be fair, Lorianne never expected her simple wish for a child would spiral into this cursed existence, but weird things happen when magic is involved. Things like a man cursed to sleep through the years until his love manages to find him again.
And a family that finally finds one another after years and years and years apart.
*le sigh*
I do like giving tormented people a happy ending.
Cursed HeartAmazon | Barnes and Noble | iTunes | KoboRelease Date: April 25, 2018
Pages: 230
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Twisted Fairytale
Lorianne Grimm is a woman broken. Her children lost through thievery and curses, she retreated to the woods to grieve. Finally coming to terms with her loss, she emerged and was dealt one last blow… her husband had disappeared and she, herself, had been cursed to remain eternally young.
Unable to face her pain, Lorianne once again fled into the heart of the woods and tried for five hundred years to forget.
But lately there have been whispers on the wind that speak of great change within Grimwood. Magic is coming back to life and for it to properly take root Lorianne will have to take her place in the tale.
Hidden deep in Grimwood is a castle. The stories say only those with the purest heart will be able to find it and navigate the treacherous path inside. With all the hatred churning within her for what was done to her family, Lorianne hardly considers herself pure. But the whispers tell of one last thing, a Grimm who was cursed into an enchanted sleep nearly five hundred years ago after losing his family. A Grimm who only waits for his lady love to awaken him.
For the chance to be with her husband again, Lorianne will follow her heart and risk everything. Including her life.

Looking Back on January

2019 started with a bang, didn’t it?
Or, well, at least it started with a new release. YAY!
That’s right, Monstrous Reasons went live in early January and I’m excited that the end is in sight. That’s right, because in even more SUPER EXCITING NEWS, Monstrous Revelations 7 has been completed and 8 is underway.
OMG!
While the writing is going well, I’m still going to keep the Series Shorts on hiatus until the entire series has been written (if my calculations are correct, I have 2 more to write–8 and 9–and then I can get back to writing weird snippets of my beloved characters).
On the non-book/writing related side, I binge watched Altered Carbon on Netflix and reeeeaaaaaallly liked it. So much. It’s futuristic, violent fun that I can’t get enough of.
(On a slightly related note, there are SO MANY NIPPLES in that show. SO MANY. It’s like the went forth and bred like bunnies to multiply. I know this might sound incredibly off the wall and weird, but SO MANY NIPPLES.)
Anywho. Good writing. Good TV watching. And a WHOLE LOT OF GOOD BOOKS were read.
Good times!

And In Other News … Pricing

I was having a thought the other day. Weird, huh? Anyway. I was thinking about how I price books and how–IN MY HEAD–it all makes sense, but maybe I should explain things instead of just assuming everybody can read my mind.
So. Pricing.
The BEST time to buy a book is when it’s freshly released. That’s because I price most of them (especially the serials) at .99 for the first little bit. Then they pop up to $1.99 (or higher in the case of the non-serials) and that is (clearly) more than .99.
However, if you’re one who prefers waiting for an entire series to be completed before reading, the bundles/complete series collections are priced pretty reasonably, too. Which isn’t to say I release them at .99, but that they’ll cost you less than buying the books individually at the higher price.
Which brings me around to the next matter of business: Kindle Unlimited. I’m a pretty big Kindle Unlimited user personally and I’m sort of partial to the fact that Amazon lets me sell my books through them since ALL the monster erotica books have been rejected at other retailers. Which means (in short) they’re saying they have questionable content (they don’t! Just tentacles. SO MANY TENTACLES!) and those other retailers won’t carry them in their store.
Well, pooh on them, I say!
Anywho. Series in Kindle Unlimited:
Monstrous Tales
Monstrous Matchmaker
Monstrous Revelations
Forgotten Monsters
Pinnacle Point
Stronghold
You can read all the books in these series FOR FREE with a Kindle Unlimited subscription. ISN’T THAT MAGNIFICENT? I think so.
That’s it. That’s my pricing structure. Nothing fancy, but the BEST way to stay informed about new release so you can grab them at ROCK BOTTOM PRICES is by joining my newsletter. Just sayin’.
Sometimes I even send weird, not-connected-to-anything shorts for your reading pleasure.
