Life Isn't (A Poem)

Life Isn't
Go go go,fight or flight,a lion's den,teeth on flesh,pumping blood,the rules we bend.
Why. So. Serious?Jagged smile, and then the bombs          pop    pop                                BANGThoughts bleedingdown my throat, words like broken glass. Is that the joke?

What We Weren't Expecting (A Poem)

Okay, first day of the new year, and here's my first bit of writing for the Write Anything Challenge, Day 1!

What We Weren't Expecting
We breathe, the world opens, and we see a mountain,a mountain we know we must climb. We fool ourselvesinto thinking our dreams are at the top. This is all we have to do,rocks beneath our feet, dirt under our nails. The way is up, but not impossible. If we don't rest too long on the trails,if we don't stop,we can make it.
Young, you take your time, because you think you k...

Weekly Report: Happy New Year! (And a Writing Challenge!)

Hello again! Here are some small updates for the new year:
_______________

Sorry for the long radio silence! We moved to a different state, and let me tell you... that's a hassle. And expensive. And I'm already poor, so that's fantastic. But despite the strange new world (hello, Tennessee!) I'm now living somewhere much cheaper monthly, and I can step out of my door and see mountains. This is beautiful.

- I also literally spent three months shut away at my desk sewing hats for my online b...

Poem #2: Restless

Restless
It's shifting underneath my skin, tectonic plates grindingunder a smooth surfaceand a cold sweat.
There's no explanation for the movement--I am not settled, not settled, unsettled. What do I do?Every drop of anxietypools in the quiet places of the brain. It is not quiet, not quiet.Unquiet.
I am living thisand I don't know how this lives. What are the shadows you speak, monsterbeneath my skin? What fears do you rousein the hairs on my armsand my drumming chest?
Please just let me sleep.

Weekly Report (7/10-7/16)

Hello again! Here are some small updates for the week of 7/10-7/16:
_______________

- Preparations for a new Etsy store, which has very little to do with my author-y stuff, but it's keeping me busy, and it's RPG and D&D related.

- My computer also broke (not my fault. kinda my fault.) and now I have to do all work-related things on my teeny laptop that is only really meant for writing. Good news, though: my gaming has not been hindered. That is why consoles exist.

- Curse of the Bl...

Insanity Workout Done! Thoughts and results.

Insanity is COMPLETE!

Well, I've been done with it for a while. This update is late. I'm so sorry.

The second month was killer, and I wanted to quit so many times. It was hardest on my knees, I think, (Come on body, keep up!) but I had also just finally gotten to the point of being able to do a few proper push-ups in Month One, so the crazy variations and quantities of them in Month Two were bumming me out pretty badly.

That said, I came out the other side as a being of (almost kinda) pure muscl...

Insanity Workout Program: Month Two. More Pain.

We did it! We started Month Two of the Insanity workout program!

.... heeeeeelp. I can't move.

Blog posting got a little delayed, I'm afraid, as we started this new, exciting (i.e. horrifying) month of squatting, jumping, and cursing at the TV. Whoooo... it's kicking my butt all over again. Just when we got good at the crazy Month One exercises, Month Two swoops in like, "How about we break those muscles down again for you?"

Haha, so... I'm stuck at my desk, unable to move between work...
