The proof of Sleepless came in and here is how it looks:

The cover is smooth and glossy, the pages are crisp, and the fonts came out great. I was initially worried about how thick the book would be, since 6x9 is larger than many regular paperbacks (it's trade paperback size) and I thought it might come out too thin. No worries now, though! It definitely feels like a good, hardy book. Meaty, if you will.

Holiday Work, Createspace Adventures

So, a lot has happened since my last blog post. The holidays are upon us, and that means cold (for those of you who don't live in a tropical climate) and lots of present-buying. Lots and lots of hat sales have been keeping me indoors. I broke my old pair of black glasses. I try to wear my back-up pair sometimes, but they're a weird purple color and kind've peeling, so I mostly stick to my contacts right now. Yay, eye problems. A big thank you to everyone who participated and bought a copy of Sleepless during it's free promo on Amazon! It did very well, especially for a first-time book from a new author with only a couple reviews. (Hey, you try getting people to remember to review. It's tough.)

Submitted and Almost There!

The time is nigh!
That's right! My book has been submitted, and should be published on the Amazon Kindle store within the next 12 hours. Do you know what this means?? Freedom! Sunshine! Possibly some more video games!
...but seriously, this second book ain't gonna make itself, 'scuse mah southern. Back to work!

Deadlines, Self-Editing, and the Rest of Life

What was my deadline again?

JULY.

*cough* You misread. Late, later, almost-July. We'll call it August.

And so I learn my first sad lesson in setting big deadlines in self-publishing. Things rarely go the way you imagine they should, and proper preparation is key to looking like the professional I clearly am not.

The book is complete, the cover is done, I've written a description that has elicited varying degrees of moderate interest. What could be left?

Preview of my Newest (and debut) Fantasy Book

Here it is! A preview of my book coming out later this month. (Alternative start: Hey, look! I finally got the cover art done.)

Deadlines, Word Vomit and Ducklings!

Guess what? I have a date. My book will be done and up and published in JULY, this month.

Probably later July. I didn't say I had a very tight date.

Besides that, I have been working hard via social media angles, but without a finished cover I don't really have anything to show people that will look impressive. So I'm pretty much just shoving nothing in people's faces:
