Silly Hair Challenges I Give Myself
I may have mentioned this a teeny bit in a past post, but my hair is uber long right now. (For me anyway.) I mean, I've had chin-length and shorter hair ever since high school ended, and it's mostly because I'm blessed with super puffy wavy hair that flips out in every direction, and while that volume is awesome and all, it really doesn't fit my dreams of easy do-nothing-to-it hair. I don't do makeup. I don't do hair. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE I WANT TO FOCUS ON IN MY DAY. It's just a personal cho...

Writing Pet Peeves #1: Foreshadowing From Hell
Okay, so, I've been reading and watching a lot of shows and books over the last couple days while I work, and while some have been really really good, others have disappointed me in soul-crushing ways. That might sound dramatic, but I have to make a confession right now that may lose me brownie points: I am a terrible and judgmental person when it comes to reading.
I'm not kidding. I'm probably understating. I've had to force myself to stop reading books that irritate me into a frenzy or my st...

Weekly Report: Taxes, Anime, and Chicken!
Aaaaayyy, another week done! I was kinda/sorta/mostly successful this week too! Actually, I was pretty bummed out half the time because, among other money worries, I had to do my taxes. (urgh) I think I've mentioned that I run a little online crafting business on Etsy for income. Tax time no fun. It suck. But it's done!
Accomplishments for the Week:
- Ah, well, I already said it above, but got my taxes done and filed. Goodbye, clawing knot of dread in my stomach!
- I found an exercise that I can...

Best Quotes on Writing & Writers: Weekly Collection #1

Haha, I've been thinking about this kind of thing a lot lately while writing my fantasy stories. Halfway through each page I find myself googling the craziest things: "the quickest way to kill someone painlessly", "unique and deadly blades", "how long can you survive underwater before drowning", "types of injuries and how the body reacts"... god, I hope I never get in any kind of situation where the police have to go through my search history. It's not going to be pretty.
But, laughing over th...

Building Some Monday Momentum!
Happy Monday!
A new week of goals and challenges! After that little recap yesterday, I spent a ton of time today going over new challenges for myself and things that are working vs. things that need improvement. It feels a little odd, laying out everything about yourself and your habits in a chart and categorizing whether they are helping your or hindering you getting to your goals, but so far it has been a great help over these last couple months of work.
That said, most of my day was actually...

Weekly Report: Did and Doing and Done!
Wow, third blog post of the week and I'm already dragging my feet. It's that hard for me to think of something to write on here. It's not that I don't have a ton to say, but I guess I get caught up in what I think people will find interesting, and it's all downhill from there. Well, screw it. I'll just play around. That's the only way I can get anything done.
Accomplishments for the week:
-I logged over 8 hours of writing for the week! That's an hour above the goal I set for myself, but I'm def...

The Innocent Bystander (A Poem)
Happy Wednesday, lurkers! Today is the third day of the week, and I have 5 1/2 hours of writing logged from the last two days before this... so, going strong!
I notice the mood of some of my poetry comes off tense and emotional at times. While I use writing stories as a way to explore truths and worlds outside of myself, I tend to use poetry to specifically pinpoint strong emotional reactions within me or the people around me, and uncover the self-truths that are hard to acknowledge or p...

Hello April! Updates from March.
Hello, awesome lurkers! I'm long overdue for an update, aren't I? Don't worry, the work has still been going strong! Here's some of my own personal achievements for March:
-Jogging every weekday: (Hey, health is important, especially if the rest of the day you're working at a desk.) I've been keeping it up! Honestly, my right calf has started to hurt over the last week and a half, but I've been getting through it. There's always a thousand things that could potentially get you to stop, aren't...

Terrible Writing Practice, Take One
Hello all! Still getting a lot done for the new month! I didn't want you to think I had fallen off the progress train, though, so I wanted to get another post up here.
I think you can tell, with the challenges and introspective stuff I've been putting up lately, that I've been working at facing down a lot of fears and anxieties when it comes to writing. I've actually seen a lot of improvement in my state of mind since starting all this, but I've still been dealing with some heavy anxiety each...

Update: The End of the Month is Nigh!

Hey lurkers!
The end of the month is already here! Holy carps! It felt like it went quicker this time, probably because I wasn't posting something new daily on the blog. I had another productive month of 2018, getting good habits going, but I don't have anything new to show post-wise yet.
I DID manage to finish that Curse of the Blood Fox short! (You saw it, right? I completed something! Whooooo.) That was awesome. Also, in forcing myself to focus on the bigger writing projects every day,...
