Restless (A Curse of the Blood Fox Short) Part 3

Day 27 of the Write Anything challenge! I apologize that this was cut off so strangely from the last part. You may have to backtrack a little for some of what they're referencing.

((Restless - Continued from last time: ))

"Don't call me that, by the way," I said.
"What?" His tone was all innocence, as if we hadn't had this discussion a thousand times already in the last couple weeks.
"You know what. I'm serious, I will take those fried tarts off the table," I warned. He shook his head at me.
"You...

Restless (A Curse of the Blood Fox Short) Part 2

Day 26 of the Write Anything challenge, and a continuation of the short story! I'm proud, I got this done much earlier in the day this time. Hopefully I can turn that into a habit. (Epic music playlists on YouTube certainly help.)

((Restless - Continued from last time: ))

Traken continued in his sullen tone.
“I have so much to offer, kitten, and you’re barely scratching the surface. What it the point of all this? We’ve been running from shadows for almost a month now. Let me fight back.”
“Oh yes?...

Insecurities Are Reliable (A Poem)

Day 25 of the Write Anything Challenge! Still working on the next short story bit, so here is a poem for the writing for today.

Insecurities Are Reliable
I am never sure.I sneer, and you take it badly. As you should.Should you?I hate when people assume.Unreliable narrators, you and I,and everyone.I want to feel lightand yet you cringeand my senses snapand I am a weightof magnitude.Don't look at me like that, don't look at me at all.No... wait.Please.Come back.

Restless (A Curse of the Blood Fox Short) Part 1

Day 24 of the Write Anything Challenge! So... I have a bit of a present for anyone who read my first book, Curse of the Blood Fox: Sleepless. I decided to make a short side story for Curse of the Blood Fox. This takes place in between the first book and the second one that is currently in the works. Though there will be no major spoilers from the first book, there are some obvious (minor) ones, so be warned. Just like in the main book, everything is told from Santo's perspective. This will be...

The Bird's Song (A Poem)

Day 23 of the Write Anything Challenge!

The Bird's Song
One frosty morninga bird of ashen greyalit beside me on a wooden postand sang sweetly of bloomsand sunlight. It looked at me with a canny eyebut I,I was unraveling insideand did not give it a proper greetingas good manners dictate.
It haunted me all day.
My mind stayed behindby that fencein that fog,and lamented the goodwill I could havefreely givento a feathered friendwith a beautiful songand a soul much lighter than mine.
I did not see...

The Yipping of the Hounds (A Poem)

Day 22 of the Write Anything Challenge! I'm writing a short story again, but inspiration came a bit late in the day, so a poem it is!

The Yipping of the Hounds
I cannot feed your dog.Not right now, maybe not ever.Don't get me wrong,I like dogs.I have one of my own. They are bottomless pits, and I must feed mine too.I must pet it until it knowsit is safe, and love it more than life, and groom it so it growsbeautiful and proud, and teach it to be grateful of the treats strangers pass itfrom the kindnes...

Life, Kdramas, Kpop, and Video Games

Day 21 of the Write Anything challenge!
I don't think I've talked about regular old life stuff in a while. You know, not existential or emotional crisis ish, but just plain old life.
I'm still watching a ton of Kdramas. (Korean dramas.) I've been playing with the idea of making a list of my favorite finds from 2017 and posting them on here, if for no other reason than to be able to look back in a year and compare. My friend recently sunk me further down the rabbit hole of Kpop as well, and trus...

Free Flying (A Poem)

Day 20 of the Write Anything challenge!

Free Flying

The sky is so huge,
and I,
I am small.
I am the tiniest thing to hold a space in this world.
Everything moves together, within each other,
opposing opinions and ideas,
clashing, unified,
like water in the ocean.
I am the droplet outside the wave
free-flying,
trembling in a sky so huge it could swallow me,
wishing things made sense.

Day 19, Thoughts So Far

Now that the short story is done, I find that I miss knowing what I'm going to write the next day. It was nice having that to fall back on. "Can't think of anything? Ah, let's just continue this." Going back to the story each day was like stepping into a warm bubble bath. It was soothing. I guess I'm going to have to think of another one to start, huh?

Today, though, has been a jumble of trying to clean up the problems I've created by procrastinating yesterday. After I finished writing, I felt...

A Hidden Song (A Short, Part 7, Final)

Day 18 of the Write Anything challenge, and the final part of this impromptu short. I hope you liked it. Some of it was what I wanted, some of it I would have worked on more if I had the time (and probably still will later.) It was challenging putting up half-done concepts for others to read and trying the insert themes on the fly, because I don't like to show stories that aren't how I envision them to be, and though it's good for a writer to have a critical eye and the drive to get things "r...
