Tzu Chi Taichung Mobilizes Volunteers to Raise Funds for Turkiye and Syria
On February 6, a powerful earthquake in Turkiye devastated both Turkiye and Syria. In response, on February 19, Tzu Chi volunteers in central Taiwan held a large-scale charity fair to pool love and raise funds in the main square in front of the Taichung City Government; there were 108 charity booths. In addition, Tzu Chi volunteers from Miaoli, Taichung, and Nantou counties took to the streets in 850 places, carrying fundraising boxes to solicit donations. Adults and children alike contributed their donations to those boxes with heartfelt empathy.

The Healthier Me 21-Day Challenge—Natural Self-Healing program has been promoted for about two years in Taiwan, and more than 14,000 people have regained their health. You are welcome to join the program too. This year’s program will start on March 1st and run for 21 days.
Tzu Chi Hold Seven Aid Distributions for Earthquake Survivors in Istanbul
On three consecutive days from February 17 to 19, Tzu Chi held seven distributions and helped more than 1,100 families in Istanbul, Turkiye. On the 17th, two distributions at the El Menahil School benefited about 320 disaster victims who received supplies. In addition to providing materials, the volunteers wanted to heal the spiritual wounds of the victims through love and warm embraces.

An Atmosphere of Love for Mothers and Children from Ukraine
For people faced with misfortune, loss and grief, it is important to know that there are open doors for them, inside which they can find life, love, support, development, and a better future. In the summer of 2022, such a door opened for Ukrainian refugees when the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation and Polish Women Can Foundation joined forces and created the “Safe Haven” program to help people who had escaped from the war in Ukraine.

On January 24 this year, the southeast of Houston, Texas in the United States suffered its worst tornado damage in 25 years. Hundreds of families in Pasadena, the hardest-hit area, were left homeless. Tzu Chi cooperated with a local NGO to distribute gift cards.

Tzu Chi Receives Permission to Enter the Earthquake-stricken Areas in Turkiye and Will Hold the First Distributions on February 17 and 18
Tzu Chi received permission from the Turkish authorities to enter the disaster areas. On February 15, the team was divided into two groups. One group went to four provinces including Hatay, the hardest-hit area in southern Turkiye, to conduct disaster surveys. The other group stayed in Istanbul. On February 17 and 18, the volunteers will hold the first distribution to provide material assistance to more than 1,000 households who fled to Istanbul. This will include gift cards, blankets, mattresses, scarves, and other warm clothing.
