Tzu Chi's Story of Compassion in Opole, Poland to Help Ukrainians

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a devastating attack on Ukraine from multiple directions, resulting in a humanitarian crisis of immense proportions. Millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes and fled in harsh winter conditions. In response to this tragedy, Tzu Chi volunteers swiftly initiated humanitarian aid efforts in March. They not only distributed aid directly but also forged partnerships with eleven other NGOs, including ADRA, WORLD HOPE, ISRA AID, International Red Cross, UNICEF, Salesian Missions of the Catholic Church, and the Catholic Caritas Society, among others, to ensure that the displaced Ukrainian people received timely assistance.

In Jordan, Tzu Chi Gives School Bags and Supplies to 2,600 Children
A group of Tzu Chi volunteers in Jordan overcame scorching temperatures and blowing sand on a journey to the Jordan Valley, about 130 kilometers northwest of the capital city, Amman. Their mission was to provide new school bags and educational supplies to underprivileged students, including Syrian refugee children. Despite the sweltering heat, on August 8th and September 10th, the volunteers arrived in the Jordan Valley and at the Bridge School in Amman, and delivered these special back-to-school gifts to 2,600 children. Their goal was to bring joy to these young learners and ensure they could start the school year with the necessary tools.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the war has dragged on for month after month. It has severely affected Ukraine's healthcare system and posed unprecedented challenges. Thanks to the relentless conflict, an increasing number of casualties and resource shortages have placed immense pressure on healthcare professionals. With both their lives and working conditions under extreme strain, many of them have had to seek opportunities to continue their careers in other countries; there they can continue to use their expertise in helping others.

Tzu Chi Builds Home for Nepali Woman in Lumbini
"Due to the situation at home, I have to work. All the money I earn goes back to the family, not for my personal use," said Bharsa -- with a hint of helplessness but also a strong determination. She is 21 years old and graduated from the Tzu Chi sewing class. She now works in a community sewing workshop to support her family.

Jakarta Great Love Village Changes Life of Mother
