Tzu Chi Volunteer in Taiwan Mixes Compassion and Expertise


Maintaining assistive devices to help patients is a most important task. It ensures the longevity of these tools and benefits a larger number of individuals. The volunteers who engage in this maintenance undergo a transformation from being unable to repair to mastering the art of maintenance, dedicating their time and effort as an act of profound compassionate practice. Among them is a remarkable individual named Shen Fuwen (申富文), an adept at repairing oxygen concentrators on the Tzu Chi Assistive Device Maintenance Platform, where he practices compassion through challenging repairs.

Tzu Chi Fulfills Nepalese Girl’s Dream for Education


"In an alternate reality where I didn't have to work in Lumbini Cultural Municipality, I would have dedicated myself to diligent studying, completing my high school education, proceeding to finish university, and eventually fulfilling my dream of becoming a teacher." That was the deep reflection of nineteen-year-old Kabita from Lumbini, Nepal.

Tzu Chi Nurtures Hope in India


The life of the Buddha, from birth to Nirvana, is associated with four major sacred sites: Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, and Kusinagara. Lumbini, in Nepal, was his birthplace, Bodh Gaya is where he attained enlightenment, Sarnath is where he delivered his first sermon to the first five disciples, and Kusinagara is the site of his final Nirvana. The latter three places are in India. Each of these locations holds significance for Buddhist disciples to pay homage and reflect.

Tzu Chi Empowers Lives in Nepal


On July 8 2023, Singaporean Tzu Chi volunteer Goh Lam Kia made the welcoming address at the prestigious Lumbini Buddhist University in Nepal. He shared the spiritual principles of Tzu Chi: cultivating sincerity, integrity, faith, and steadfastness within oneself, while practicing compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and equanimity towards others. He expressed the hope that all the trainees and volunteers would embody these values and work together to create a truly kind and beautiful world.

Tzu Chi volunteers from Singapore and Malaysia are actively promoting "the spirit of the Bamboo Bank" in Sujata, Ganga Bigha, and Silaunja in Bihar province in eastern India. They aim to make a positive impact on the lives of communities in these villages. The response from the locals has been overwhelmingly positive.

Tzu Chi Book Club Enlightens Lumbini, Nepal


The Tzu Chi team in Lumbini, Nepal has been actively promoting book clubs, to spread wisdom and understanding. In preparation for an afternoon book club, Tzu Chi volunteers Kua Liang Ming (郭糧鳴) from Malaysia and local volunteer Santosh Maurya visited the shops near the Tzu Chi center in the town. They warmly invited entrepreneurs and the public to attend the book club, where love and kindness overflow due to the strong bonds they have formed with the residents over the past year.

Tzu Chi Holds First Parent-Child Sports Day in Bodh Gaya, India


On July 11th, the Tzu Chi Singaporean and Malaysian volunteer team in Bodh Gaya, in Bihar province in eastern India held their first Parent-Child Sports Day. They rose early in the morning and departed in two groups at 6:00 AM and 6:30 AM for the Senani Samaj Seva Ball Jagrup School in Bakraur Village.

Tzu Chi Holds Book Club in Lumbini, Nepal


One day the enthusiastic Volunteer team from Singapore and Malaysia went to Krishna Kohar's home in Lumbini, Nepal to assist with rice planting. After the rain ceased, the sky cleared, and everyone rolled up their pants, walking barefoot on the paths between the fields. They listened attentively as Krishna Kohar explained the intricacies of rice planting; they were experiencing something entirely new and feeling gratitude in their hearts as they bent down to work.
