Despite Numerous Challenges, Tzu Chi Conducts Seven Supply Distributions Across Two Provinces in Turkiye


Starting from February 25, Tzu Chi disaster relief held over four consecutive days seven distributions in two provinces severely affected by the recent earthquake -- Hatay and Gaziantep, in southern Turkiye. The first distribution took place at the Taiwan – Rey Hanle Global Citizenship Center in Hatay, where 1,552 people received gift cards, blankets, and scarves. Tzu Chi volunteers hoped to bring warmth to the victims during the cold winter.

In Jordan, Tzu Chi Helps Syrian Earthquake Victims


Over twenty days have passed since the earthquake in Turkiye and Syria, and volunteers have successfully delivered materials full of love to Turkiye in batches. However, due to the turmoil of the political situation and other limiting factors, it is hard to provide external aid to Syrian disaster victims.

The Life and Legacy of a Volunteer Environmentalist


Whenever students visited an environmental protection station in Tainan in south Taiwan, Tzu Chi volunteer Li Qing-quan (李清泉) would explain to them recycling and sorting principles. After joining Tzu Chi, Li devoted himself to environmental protection and continued until his last breath.

Tzu Chi Collaborates with U.N. Organizations to Assist Disaster Victims in Hatay, Turkiye


On February 16, Tzu Chi's disaster relief team arrived in Hatay Province in the far south of Turkiye. After conducting a thorough evaluation, they quickly decided to establish a disaster response center in Hatay to assist the affected areas. In order to effectively help the victims, Tzu Chi promptly visited the United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Office and took part in an inter-organizational coordination meeting. In addition, the team visited other charitable organizations to explore more opportunities for collaboration and joint assistance.

Useful Materials Are All Treasures


We only have one earth and it is the responsibility of everyone to cherish and protect our planet. In accordance with this principle, Tzu Chi volunteers have taken the initiative to assist the Taipower Company in recycling a significant amount of discarded cardboard to contribute to preserving the environment.

Tzu Chi Visits MDM to Discuss Helping Earthquake Victims with Psychological Counseling


 


The downtown area of Antakya is a ruin, with cranes and large trucks constantly removing collapsed buildings. The air is filled with dust, and the air quality has deteriorated. Satellite images from the United Nations show a comparison of the city before and after the earthquake. In late August last year, it was full of lights at night – but, after the earthquake, it is almost entirely silent.

Ali – The Boy Who Grew Up in Tzu Chi


In 2022, Ali, a young Syrian refugee in Turkiye, said: “I want to be a Tzu Chi volunteer to give back to the society and become a benefactor in other people's lives.” In 2023, after the devastating earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, Ali realized his promise.
