We Are Not Alone in This World

We Ukrainians remember the previous winter with tears in our eyes. It was a terrible period of fear, uncertainty, and despair. Many families fled from the war, taking only the most necessary things, and some did not even manage to take  those.

Celebrating 25 Years of Spreading Great Love

On New Year's Day 2023, Tzu Chi volunteers held a celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the Da Ai (Great Love) Television channel. The station takes one step at a time, upholds Master Cheng Yen's idea of purifying people's hearts, and spreads stories of truth, goodness and beauty to the world.

We Are on the Air!

On January 1, 1998, then Premier Xiao Wan-chang (蕭萬長) and Master Cheng Yen, founder of Tzu Chi, started broadcasting in a studio that Tzu Chi had rented from Public Television Service (PTS) in Taipei. This officially sent the Da Ai TV signal to the world. Despite a cold snap that night, tens of thousands of people still gathered to participate at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall at a party to celebrate the opening.

Clean Stream in Communication Industry

In an era of vigorous media development and fierce competition, Master Cheng Yen was full of expectations for Da Ai TV: “What we all look forward to most is a world free from disasters and a peaceful society. This means that everyone needs to purify their hearts and lighten the world with great love.” (1998.01.01)

Wang Wei-zhong (王偉忠), a media personality, praised the new station: “On the first day of 1998, people were delighted to see the launch of Tzu Chi Da Ai TV. It is like a clean stream in the communication industry.”

On January 1, 2005, the Tzu Chi Culture Center was officially opened. Da Ai TV combined radio and print media to spread the message of beauty and goodness more actively.

Chen Qing-he (陳清河), then Dean of the College of Journalism and Communication of Shih Hsin University, said: “In the chaos after the opening of the media, it (Da Ai TV) was a very good stream, and was also a very good model channel.”

Spread Wholesome Messages

Thanks to the advancement of technology, everyone can spread wholesome stories all over the world. Through Da Ai TV, the staff and Tzu Chi documentary volunteers spread messages of Great Love across the globe.

For nearly half a century, Tzu Chi’s missions have been developing, step by step, from charity and medicine to education, and, lastly,  culture. The mission of culture reports true stories of the charity mission, the sincerity of the medical mission, and the beauty of our world.

Master Cheng Yen praises the documentary volunteers as chroniclers of Tzu Chi’s treasury of sutras. They record the historical footprints of Tzu Chi volunteers and provide stories of goodness and kindness through Da Ai TV.

The volunteers are like fireflies. Although on their own each one is like a faint light, together, through Da Ai TV, they form a bright light to illuminate the world and inspire more people to do good deeds.

Brighten up the World

Master Cheng Yen gave her good wishes to everyone in Da Ai TV, and to the world: “May each of us create blessings in the world, and may wholesome messages be broadcast and delivered to everywhere in the world, leading everyone to a direction that is true, kind, and beautiful. May the world be a place of truth, kindness, and beauty.”

Da Ai TV can bring light to our world. For 25 years, it has broadcast good news to the whole world, bringing everyone towards the true, the good and the beautiful.

With the help of technology, Da Ai TV can spread healthy messages very widely. In its mission of being a clean stream of the media, Da Ai TV has continued to move forward.

Tzu Chi’s footprint in Jordan- the sweet oasis in desert

Jordan is a country far from Taiwan. With an area of 8,219 km, it is two and half times bigger than Taiwan. In the world, Jordan ranks second in shortage of water.  It has a population of 11 million, including three million who have come to Jordan as a peaceful shelter from neighboring countries -- Iraq, Syrian, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, and Lebanon – over many decades.
