Judgment Is Mine
So the quote goes. It means not that we should not judge but that we cannot judge. Consider all we’d need to be aware of to judge rightly. In addition t: past, present and future, we’d have to recognize in advance all the effects of our judgment on everyone and everything involved in anyway. And we’d have to be sure there was no distortion in our perception – no bias, prejudice or limitation. Who’s in a position to do this?
Yet we must judge so how do we do it? We get our bloated nothingness out of the way and allow our inner wisdom to judge for us, through us. We pause before judging and ask for guidance. The more we do this, the more guidance we get, the more life flows and the less difficulty we have.
It’s not possible nor desirable to give up judgment all at once. But like changing any habit, we can learn to change gradually. Judge not, because we cannot judge and it’s a good thing. Look at the mess we’ve made. Isn’t it time to change how we judge? If we always do what we always did, we’ll always get what we’ve always got.

Marketing
A group of published authors in the Miami area, members of the SFWA www.southfloridawritersassn.org, have set up a marketing co-op and are seeking a marketing professional to arrange presentations and book signings at venues around S. FL. Mini-book fairs, writing workshops and panel presentations at venues such as libraries, shopping malls, churches, synagogues, and book clubs are possibilities. Each author will contribute $100. to the marketer’s monthly fee. Seven authors are committed and more are likely. As more SFWA members join the co-op, the marketing effort will remain basically the same while the fee will increase. Please respond to: sliebowitz@aol.com for more info.

Backwards, Part 2
And what if, along with not having to put love and energy into things, I don’t have to know how to take them out either, how to share them or what to say before I say it? Helpful words and actions will flow through me when needed, now, in the moment. It’s called ‘intuition’. The intuition in me connects with the intuition in you. There’s a resonance. Like the Buddhist ‘namaste’ – “the god in me salutes the god in you.’ We can only offer each other inspiration and awakening to what’s already present within. It’s not done with argument, force, judgment or blame but by example.

Backwards?
Is everybody doing it backwards? What if, like the people of Columbus’ time, our assumptions, attitudes and beliefs are holding us back, creating strife and struggle. What if the right way is not to put love and energy into ourselves or things, but remove the blocks to the love and energy already there? Haven’t you felt that – when you finally stop struggling and striving and listen to the still small voice things just flow? Grace is another word for this.

Slo-Mo
Have you seen a slow motion film of water coming out of a faucet? It’s not a rushing torrent, it comes out one drop at a time. Our thoughts and emotions are like that. They often feel as if they’re rushing through like an irresistible, uncontrollable torrent, but really they’re flowing one thought, one feeling at a time. Mindfulness – going within, being centered, being still, watching and judging not – is our built-in slo-mo camera. With mindfulness we avoid being swept away. With mindfulness we can choose which thoughts and feelings to entertain, what to think, how to feel, and who we want to be.
‘Entertain’ is such an interesting choice of words in this context, isn’t it? How does one ‘entertain’ a thought? Tell it jokes, dance or sing? To ‘entertain’ a thought is to think about it, ruminate and perhaps act upon it.

Timeless
Timeless – without time, free of time; time marches on without us. Time flies when we’re having fun. Why is that? Could it be that when we’re having fun we’re simply being; yes, doing, but really just being, expressing, allowing with nothing to prove or achieve, simply being and feeling the joy of being, effortless grace, just being. After all, we call ourselves human beings, not human doings.
We’re both timeless and of time; most of the time prisoners of time. But isn’t it grand and wonderful and expansive to get in touch with our timeless Self, to be a human being, not a human doing?

Giving Away In Order To Keep
An unworkable paradox? Yes, short run on the material level. But consider: aren’t ideas strengthened when you give them away; and especially when others accept them, agree with them and use them? Same with love, giving it, we feel it and are reminded we have it to give.
And forgiveness, not the self righteous, ‘bring the guilty bastard in so I can forgive her’ kind, but a kind that arises from a deep desire for peace and clarity and realizes that holding this grievance, or any grievance, is more a burden for me than for the other person. So in giving forgiveness I am released and forgiven.
