But what if those same words mean that God is an invisible, spiritual power and we too, because we are made in the image and likeness are also invisible spiritual power. Not that we have invisible spiritual power but ARE invisible spiritual power.
That would mean we are limitless, without boundaries. That we need to shift our attitude. That the limits and boundaries are not inherent in who we really are but exist only in our thinking – with the ego.
The ego is separate and confused. It is not who we are, not our Identity. We are the image and likeness. Realizing and appreciating that there is something beyond us, beyond our little, fearful selves – opens us to our reality as Spirit. We are limited only by our willingness to shift.
It’s a gradual, minute-to-minute, one thought at a time process, requiring mindfulness, persistence and practice. But it can also be spontaneous, without effort. Each time we allow it, shift and get our bloated nothingness out of the way, we feel it. God is our default. Please try. Ignore the ego’s raucous shrieking for a moment and be still and know.

Image and Likeness
It is said that we humans are created in the image and likeness of the power we call ‘God.’
What if we got it backward, reasoning not from the power to ourselves, but from ourselves to the power. That because we are shaped, think and feel as humans that God too is shaped, thinks and feels like we do. That we made God in our image.
But what if those same words mean that God is an invisible, spiritual power and we too, because we are made in the image and likeness are also invisible spiritual power. Not that we have invisible spiritual power but ARE invisible spiritual power. That we are waves in the ocean of God’s power thinking we are something else, not waves, not part of God, but something apart from God.

Prayer
Prayer acknowledges that beyond our small, everyday sense of things, a greater reality surrounds us. When we pray, we can beseech that reality, beg, bargain and promise as if we were separate and apart from It. Or, we can ask knowing we are one with It, that it is reality’s good wish to give us the kingdom.
We lay down our masks, reasons and excuses and simply accept our part of It and ask. As the wave is not separate from the ocean, so we are not separate from our greater reality. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Compassion
Compassion is being with another, helping them, understanding and accepting them out of pure love with no thought of receiving something in return.
My sense of compassion arises from my experience of one single Source that knows everyone and everything as Itself. It does not judge, so I try not to judge. It does not blame nor punish, so I try not to blame nor punish.
When I’m aware of and feeling my oneness with Source, I understand that everyone is doing the best they can given the degree of their awareness of their connection with Source. I have compassion for myself and others when we feel disconnected to Source.

Forget what? Remember what?
Forget the ego and remember spirit. When I forget as much of the ego BS – the fear, doubt and loathing, that I can, in its place I experience a little more of my reality as spirit – calm, certainty and compassion.

Fear
Fear is not always negative. Like it’s primary emotional cousins love and gratitude, fear is a two edged sword. Love and gratitude can be harmful while fear can be healthy. I can love and be grateful to the wrong person or thing, such as potato chips or Trump, while fear of global climate change can be healthy.
Victor Frankl, a concentration camp survivor, in Man’s Search for Meaning said, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our power to choose. In our response lies our growth and freedom.”
Who would I be if I was mindful enough to take advantage of that space and embrace my reality as Spirit?
