Rome was such a heartwarming character that I just felt for him. When his son passes away - a little piece of me went with him. I kept thinking that he'd get better, but he didn't and then when Isa would bring him cookies - she stole my heart. I loved Rome and her together. What I thought was the plot twist that's often used in LLV books was really a cliché. It wasn't that I didn't like it - I just thought it's been used a lot! However, that still doesn't mean I won't be reading the next one. I loved the epilogue and I loved that we got to see all the other characters from other books in this book.

I've wanted Wolf's story forever. To me, personally he's always been the glue that held everyone together. I know that everyone says it's Jack, but I believe it's Wolf. Wolf is the one who leveraged his house for the ones he loved, gave his all for his son and now to find out that the love of his life Maria might be dying?! That would be too much on a normal person but Wolf? He's lost a lot and yet he keeps going and he keeps loving. Of course, we see all the characters but Wolf's character just grew leaps and bounds in this book. Yes, it was angsty and will make you cry and I hate crying but I pushed on because it's a JIB book and it's worth giving time to. This was an awesome book and if i could give it 10 stars - I would!!

Toni and Zach are opposite in every way or so we think. Toni grew up in a very religious family with parents who thought bikers were beneath them and wouldn't even let them into their diner. When they pass away and leave the diner to Toni she instituted some changes: Bikers are allowed at the diner!! This means that the once uptight surroundings are now biker friendly and her new neighbor across the way, Zach will get to see her more often by going in every chance he gets. 

Zach's always wanted to be a brother and nothing was going to keep him from it. He worked hard to get to where he was and it showed. So when he finds out that his new neighbor is the ex of someone that's an enemy of the club...what's he gonna do?

My thoughts on this series that's just starting out is that it has potential. There are a few things about the heroine I found unsettling but I let it go because this is fiction and that's what you do - you suspend belief for a while. Now, had I been reading a hard core biker series I probably would have raged against the machine. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Now, about the Narration - I thought it was exceptional!! I loved both Erin and Noah as Zach and Toni. I thought they did a wonderful job showing the emotional sides of their characters. I've said it several times that narration makes or breaks a book and that's so true. It can bring you into the story and take you out of the story with just a couple of inflections.  I found myself listening to this at work (which is frowned upon) and in the car, at the gym and while going to bed. It was done so well that I can't wait to listen to Maverick.  I really want all the Club Girl Diaries if I'm being honest.

Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.I’ve worked with Noah and Erin for all of my books, so I think we have it down to a science by now. The set-up is all done through the ACX website. Then I send the manuscript and character notes on any accents, voice requests, a general description of the characters and their personalities. After that, my part is done until they send me files to listen to. I listen to the entire book, just to make sure everything flows well and I like what they’ve done with the characters—I always do. After any changes are made, the audiobook disappears into the world of Audible until it pops up for sale!Do you believe certain types of writing translate better into audiobook format?I suppose a textbook on Physics would be pretty dry and tough to listen to, but as far as fiction, and even most non-fiction, I think any book can be made into a quality audiobook. To me, it seems less the subject matter and more the quality of the writing and engagement of the narrators. Any book can be read in a monotone voice without much feeling and be underwhelming as opposed to read by narrators who are very engaged with the story and really feel the characters.Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?Absolutely. I have all my books on audio, so it’s a no-brainer by now.How did you select your narrator?Originally, back when I wrote book one of the No Prisoners MC series, I listened to quite a few auditions from narrators. Noah’s was by far my favorite. He really captured the essence of my bad boy bikers. So, Striker is a solo narration by Noah. A bit later, I’d heard Noah and Erin’s duet narration of Curing Dr. Vincent and I just loved the duet narration. It takes the story to an entirely new level, so Erin was brought in for the rest of the series and beyond!What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?  I say, “Booo!” Audiobooks are amazing and just a different form of entertainment. I love how the medium is growing and expanding so rapidly. It’s a different experience than reading a book and so many people really enjoy listening to the narrators embody the characters. Also, there are so many people who are unable to read a book the traditional way for various reasons. Audiobooks gives those with visual impairments and other disabilities the chance to enjoy the works of millions of authors!What gets you out of a writing slump? What about a reading slump?  Usually if I’m in a total slump and the ideas aren’t flowing, I step away from the computer and just go about my day. Then I let my mind wander and most of the time something will come to me. I’ve also found that if I’m struggling with a scene and not liking how it’s turning out, I need to just push on through it and get something written. For me, it’s much easier to come back later and edit something to my liking than to abandon mid chapter and try to pick up where I left off later. Facebook usually helps me out of a reading slump. I belong to so many author/reader groups, I’m always finding great recommendations.In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series? I love writing series because as I am writing a book, I tend to give each ancillary character their own story in my head. Writing a series gives me the ability to expand on the universe I’ve created and give my secondary characters a voice and story. I love reading series for the very same reason.Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?  I’m more of a daydreamer than a night dreamer. I’ve had stress dreams about releases, but usually my characters don’t come to me in my dreams. During the day, however, I’m constantly drifting off, plotting, and imagining scenes to write.What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?Write, write, write! It’s the only way to grow and improve. Hire a professional editor. Beyond polishing and improving my books, I have learned so many tips and tricks from my editors about character development, plot development, and writing in general. It’s always a good idea to have outside professionals critique your work.What’s next for you?  The second book in the Hell’s Handlers’ series, Maverick, released on Aug 14th. Noah and Erin are in the middle of recording Maverick so it shouldn’t be too much longer before the audio releases. I’m currently working on the third book, Jigsaw. EXCERPT  “It’s beautiful,” she said, her voice suddenly soft. “I remember the first time I saw it. The first time Damien brought me out here. And I just… I didn’t think that I was the kind of person who would ever be allowed to have something so lovely.” Something twisted inside his chest. “Why not?” He was surprised she’d shared that with him, and the look on her face told him that she was too. Almost like she didn’t understand the words that had come out of her mouth. “I don’t know.” She looked away from him. “I guess…you know. Some people have beautiful things. Some people have beautiful lives. Some people don’t. And when you’ve lived an entire life of dirty and ugly it’s hard to imagine you could ever have anything else. That you could ever deserve anything else. I used to think of him like that too.” Wyatt swallowed hard. He related to that a little more closely than he cared to admit. Even to himself. That feeling of being someone who could have a life that looked a certain way. Or being someone who could never aspire to such a thing. This is a hard review to write and not just because of words not coming to me at 3am, but because I've been waiting for Lindy's book for the past couple books. I was really anticipating this and it's one of those where the hype you build in your head for a massive five star review - doesn't make it to paper. First off, I loved Lindy and Wyatt - in theory. They're both incredibly good together, they're stubborn and fun. They have great chemistry and it all worked for them "on paper." My problem was that this kind of seemed repetitive to me, as in "a been there and done that" sort of plotline that's been told before. The formulaic way everything played out had been done before in a previous book. The book itself is well-written and grammar is spotless. I had issues with all the inner dialogues going on with the characters and this took me out of the story. Also, my pet peeve is when there's angst - when two characters like each other and yet they keep pushing the other away just to fill up pages...

I love interactions between characters and when I don't have that...well that's when my mind starts to wonder. A professor once taught me that to be a speed reader you had to take the most important parts of what you read and then move on - most important parts are dialogue, back stories and unfortunately for me it's not reading about thoughts and feelings for pages and pages. I was really expecting kind of a lighthearted, fun, and non-angsty read and I got the opposite.

Now, let's go over what the author did correctly - she wrote a complete novel without cliffhangers which I applaud her for. I hate those with a passion. She did have engaging characters when there was dialogue and it was interesting the interaction between Lindy and Wyatt. She did her research and I couldn't fault her on anything she wrote for background. Even though the storylines been done before - what storyline hasn't? She wrote a really angsty book that some will love. The great thing about the book community is that we're all different and we all have different opinions and ideas about what's good. What I might find drawn out, someone else will love that detail (like my mother!!) In conclusion, if you've read all of Ms. Yates other books and loved them - read this because it's not going to hurt and if you haven't read her, then start somewhere else.
