Just a head's up for those that haven't read VF Mason before - if you have a weak stomach or can't take psychological romances...These are not the books for you.  You've been warned.  This book starts out with the heroine (Valencia) locked away and being mistreated.  You will find that what you think is going on and what is actually going on are two totally separate things.  I've learned while reading these books that nothing are as they seem.  Lachlan is a tortured hero...when I say that - I mean, he's absolutely happy to torture other people about his past to satisfy his future.  He's what they teach you about in Psychology 101 and I imagine that he's kind of what a serial killer would be like in person without the romantic feelings and all.  Cold, twisted and sadistic.  This book will make you feel uncomfortable as it should because the topic that it contains is a topic that we shouldn't be comfortable with.  If you're triggers are rape, child abuse, or severe psychological and emotional abuse...I don't recommend reading without you knowing that ahead of time.  However, it's a great suspenseful book that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.
  About the Author:V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her momma over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. This was an automatic 5-star by twenty-five percent...I can't give you just one reason - I can give you possibly several!  I absolutely adored Roscoe in this book and the author stayed true to the Winston Brothers series in writing this.  Sometimes when an author gets this far into a series it can begin to get old or get drawn out - this just seems to be chugging along and doing just as well as the first one did.  Simone and Roscoe are both complex, multidimensional characters that grew from the first page til the very last page. All the characters are fascinating, but these two were especially fascinating and their story was a coming home of sorts.  Roscoe has always been the quiet, sweet, meek one and then there was Simone who is a little more outgoing.  Up until now Roscoe's never had a problem dodging her, now every time he turns around...there she is!!!  I guess the one thing I kind of didn't like was the lying or deception going on with Simone, but that was part of the story and brought us all around to the end...All in all, I'd say this was my favorite book in the series and not just because I have a thing for veterinarians.

I read about 5 books this weekend and they all started to blur together...EXCEPT for this one!!  I kind of fell in love with Cam!!  He was such a good, funny, upstanding guy and he treated Lana with such respect.  This had a different kind of heroine - she's an undercover police officer and is working under the guise of a stripper.  I thought this was a unique storyline. I mean, we had Cam who's a football player, but then we have Lana who's giving la dances to patrons while Cam's at a batchelor party.  This could have been a plot that's been done before but Max Monroe put a spin on it that I think other readers are really gonna like, if not love.

It’s five in the morning and I’m still awake. I’m bordering on delirium, because I’m so tired, but I just can’t get to sleep. I’ve tried listening to music, clearing my mind, counting backward … nothing is working. There’s still one thing I haven’t tried …I hold my breath, listening to the sound of his breathing as I creep my hand under the blankets and down over my stomach. I freeze when he stirs, but he doesn’t wake up. My heart pounds as I focus on the sound of his breathing and nothing else.My body tenses as a part my legs, just enough to slide a finger along my entrance. I hold my breath, the air catching my throat, then I quickly exhale as I slide a finger inside myself. I close my eyes and concentrate as I massage my c***, trying so hard not to make a sound. What would it feel like to kiss him? I sigh, imagining his lips brushing over mine, while I rake my hands over that thick, uneven stubble. I swallow, my p**** aching as I tease myself, imagining my fingers sliding over his muscular chest. I work myself faster and harder as my body reacts. The soft lapping of my finger sounds a thousand times louder than it really is. I gasp as my finger slides deeper inside me. I want to scream, but I can’t, so I force the sound back down my throat and ride the last of my climax out in total silence, all while still imagining his hands on me. It’s torture and bliss at the same time.
I stare at the ceiling, unable to do anything other than lie there, listening to my heart pounding in my chest. I kick off the blankets, my skin all hot and sweaty. Then I smile and swallow a giggle. That was incredible. I’ve never experienced a rush quite like that before. Snuggling into my pillow, I sigh. I’m so close to asleep …And then I hear that familiar chuckle. F***. I hold my breath, not trusting myself to do anything other than lie there and panic. I slowly relax when he doesn’t react. He’s asleep. It’s fine. I imagined it. I breathe out and then close my eyes. Just as I finally feel like I’m going to fall asleep, his sleepy voice cuts through the silence. I lie there, holding my breath, my eyes wide open.“Feels good to be naughty, doesn’t it, Katie?” His sleepy voice cuts through the silence. I don’t answer, because I can’t.“Next time you do that? I’ll be participating.”






I was really enjoying this book, in fact - for the first half I was going along, reading thinking "this book is really good!"  But then, then it happened...the last 25 percent of the book happened and everything was shoved into that 25 percent to hurry the wrap-up.  Katie and Adam were the cutest couple, Darcy and Lily were the hilarious sidekicks who stole the show and then everything wrapped up so quickly that I thought it was just rushed and I didn't realize the book was over.  One minute Katie and Adam are on their road trip and the next they're back in Vegas and the big reveal is being shown and then the epilogue.  This would have been a great book if it had been drawn out because it had everything I normally love which is humor, storyline and great characters.Also Available

This book really took me by surprise and I can honestly say that I thought for sure I wasn't going to like it after reading the first couple chapters. I mean, you have this 32 year-old woman and underage guy who's 17 and how is this going to translate Ron paper to not being creepy?? Well, in my opinion Ash was a totally awesome hero - he was better than some forth something heroes we read about and I can't wait to listen to the audible version. Kristy had to be a likeable heroine and I really enjoyed the switch of this premise - which for me was really different! The challenges that they both face and the way it's written was handled spot-on and I found myself laughing several times. Definitely a great read and Ms. Harper has redeemed herself from the last book.
