Excerpt: “Hi—hello,” she said, stepping forward but not out of the way, drawing my attention. She was still staring at me, her face still pale, but her eyes had turned searching instead of stunned. “I—” She stopped herself, swallowing, her gaze dropping to the front of my coat, a cute little frown furrowing her eyebrows. In the next moment, she was pulling off the glove of her right hand. Abruptly, she shoved the ungloved fingers toward me, returning her eyes to mine. “I’m Mona.” I suppressed my disbelief at her small action before it could break my outward mask of calm. I wasn’t calm. Just to be clear, I was the opposite of calm. The fact that she was introducing herself to me now meant that she thought I was too stupid to figure out her lies over the last two-and-a-half-fucking years. She was arguably one of the smartest people in the world, after all. To her, people like me must seem like housebroken pets. So it shouldn’t have surprised me. But it did. The tension and tightness around my ribs reappeared, squeezing uncomfortably. Dropping my attention to her bare hand, I pressed my lips into a tighter line, dismissing the way my pulse jumped at the sight of her wrist, the olive tone of her skin under the yellow string lights overhead. Glaring at her outstretched offering, I considered telling her to go to hell. I considered it, but I wouldn’t. I didn’t trust myself to speak, that was reason number one. The other reason was harder to explain, or use as a justification, or admit to myself. Staring at her hand, I braced against a sudden flare of hunger. She might consider me a lower life-form, but that didn’t change the fact that I wanted to touch her. I wanted to touch her more than I wanted to tell her to go to hell, and that was fucking pitiful. But there it was. Acting on the compulsion, I lifted my right hand and tugged off the ski glove, sliding my warm palm against her much colder one. Her hand felt good in my hand, the right weight, the right size, the right texture, and I inhaled freezing air. Mona also seemed to suck in a slow but expansive breath as our hands touched, held. This brought my eyes back to hers in time to see her lashes flutter. Pink colored her previously pale cheeks. The sound of the wailing wind, the sting of the air and frost momentarily melted away, leaving just her, her soft skin warming against mine, her beautiful face filling my vision. So beautiful. She really was. She was stunning. I hated that she was still so beautiful to me. Start the series today! Space is book 2 in Laws of Physics series by Penny Reid. In this emotionally charged romance, this book picks up 2 years after where book one left off. I hated that it was that big a time jump, but it is what it is. I guess Mona and Abram went on with their lives after the events in book one and that's sort of like real life. Abram did go a little wild before getting himself together and getting started with a rock band, writing songs that are huge in the business and are based off of the one person he's connected to...Mona. Mona, meanwhile has been going thru the motions of living her daily life. She misses Abram and really finds peace when she is at her parents' cabin in Aspen. She tries to get there as much as she can and during this last trip - who happens to be there? Abram!! However, he's just a hateful tool and needs to get his mess straight! Some stuff said was just unnecessary and the way it needed...Girl - you needed to not end it there!

I’m kind of a lady, but definitely more of a weirdo. Hearing the woman at the table behind him say that to her friend should’ve turned Logan Gibbs off. It doesn’t. In all honesty, it only makes him listen harder. He’s had enough weird in his life to last a lifetime. The last thing his complicated life needs is a woman in it who has no clue what color you get when you mix yellow and blue together. Yet, her obvious blonde moments aren’t enough to deter him. Nor is her lack of finger-painting skills. I’m a cop, not a miracle worker. Hearing the man in the group behind her say that should’ve had Katy Roberts running away as fast as her feet would carry her. Katy’s father’s a cop, and it’s hard enough to live her life with Daddy trying to dictate her every move. She needs another cop in her life like she needs yet another thing to go wrong. To add onto that, she can’t find a job, has no love life to speak of, and has to be the oldest known virgin in Kilgore, Texas. Yet, when she sees his painting—a painting that resembles a piece of the male anatomy more than the lighthouse they were supposed to be painting—she knows that she has to give him a chance. The very last thing the two of them expect is for her father and his boss to force them to marry after an eensy-weensy accident. An accident that, surprisingly, both of them want.

Ghosts are real. Well, techn...

Ghosts are real. Well, technically speaking, maybe not. But the ones that haunt a man’s soul? Those are very real. So real, in fact, that there are times when Castiel would rather silence them forever in the worst way possible than to go on living with them haunting his every step. All it took was one single second in time for his attention to drift, and everything changed. Life as he once knew it, is over. Now he’s struggling to make sense of the pieces that are left, and he’s fairly sure at least half of them are missing. He’s living for three things now. His club—the Bear Bottom Guardians. His work as a police officer for Bear Bottom Police Department. And the occasional glimpse of a girl that makes his spirit feel free. Despite the ghosts that haunt him, he’s not willing to present them with another target. Which is why he has to stay away from her. He can’t touch her. He can’t talk to her. He can’t get anywhere near her. Not and live with himself afterward. The only problem is, Turner doesn’t care what Castiel wants. She also has a solution for his ghosts. You may call her Ms. Ghostbuster.

This book was a refreshing change from the normal LLV and you knew going into it that after reading the dedication that it was going to be one of those books where she left it all on the floor. She did exactly that. Castiel and Turner were the enemies to friends and I tend to love those types of romances. I'm not giving anything away on this because it's worth the read. I'll just say that this is a case where the hype was definitely worth it.

Excerpt: “Ella.” It was a plea to speak, to not speak. Hell, I didn’t know anymore.“You don’t see me like that. I totally get it.” She reached for the TV remote.“How exactly do I see you? Please, enlighten me.” I leaned forward, stealing the remote. She’d opened this box and had better well dish it.She huffed in annoyance. “You see me as a mom. As Colt and Maisie’s mom. And of course you do, because that’s what I am. A mom with two kids.”“Well, yeah,” I said. Her motherhood—that selfless devotion she had to her kids—was one of her most attractive attributes. She rolled her eyes with a little sigh, and the metaphorical light bulb went off in my head.“You don’t think I want you.”She shot me a look that confirmed my guess and blushed the same crimson of her couch. “You know, you’re right. It’s late.” She faked a yawn. “Suuuuuuper late.”“I want you.” Damn, it felt so good to say the words.“Yeah, okay.” She gave me a goofy look and a thumbs-up. “Please don’t make me feel any more idiotic than I do right now.”Yeah, enough of this bullshit.I pounced in one smooth motion, taking her back to the couch, sliding over her as I gathered her wrists in one hand above her head and settled between her open thighs.Home.“Holy shit, you move fast.” There was no fear or rejection in her eyes, just surprise.“Not in every arena,” I promised. Her lips parted.“Ella. I want you.”“Beckett…you don’t have to.”Yeah, that soft little sigh she did was going to be my undoing.I let go of her wrists, letting my fingers trail down her arm until I had one hand weaving my fingers into the hair at the base of her scalp and the other at the curve in her waist.“Feel this?” Then I slid forward, letting my dick stroke along the seam in her pajama pants hard enough for her to gasp at the contact. I couldn’t remember ever wanting to shred a piece of fabric so much in my life. “I’ve never wanted a woman as much as I want you.”I moved again, and her eyes slid shut as she let loose the sweetest moan.My dick throbbed, knowing everything I’d fantasized about for the better part of the last eight months was one decision away.“Beckett.” Her hands found my biceps, her nails digging in.“Don’t ever think that I don’t want you, because if things were different, I would have already been inside you. I would know exactly how you feel, and what you sound like, look like, when you come. I’ve thought about it at least a hundred different ways, and believe me, I’ve got a great imagination.”She rocked her hips against me, and I locked my jaw to keep from giving her exactly what her body was asking for. “Ella, you have to stop.”“Why?” she asked, her lips dangerously close to mine. “What do you mean if things were different?” Her eyes flew wide. “Is this because I have kids?”“What? No. Of course not. It’s because you’re Ryan’s little sister.” Before I could do any more damage, I got the hell off her and sat back on my side of the couch.“Because…I’m Ryan’s little sister,” she repeated, scooting so she sat upright, facing me. “And you think he’d, what? Haunt you?”Three things: The letter. The cancer. The lie.I repeated those in my head until I was certain I could look at her and not drag her back under me.“Beckett?”“When I was growing up, if I wanted something, I took it. Immediately. I had sex at fourteen with a girl in my foster home of the moment. I opened Christmas presents early if I was lucky enough to get one, and it was usually from my social worker or some charity.”“I don’t understand.” She wrapped her arms around her knees again.“I took it immediately because I knew if I didn’t, chances were I wouldn’t get it. It was a now-or-never kind of thing—there weren’t second chances.”“Okay.”“I can’t touch you, can’t talk about it, because I’m afraid I’ll act on it.”“And why does that matter if I want you to?”“Because I won’t get a second chance. And I’m crap with people, with relationships. I’ve never had one that lasted more than a month. Never loved a woman I’ve slept with. And chances are I’d do something to screw this up, because it’s not just my dick that wants you, Ella.”That O popped right back onto her face, and I closed my eyes to keep from lunging across the distance and kissing her. Knowing she’d let me—that she wanted it—sent my need from a bullet to a nuclear missile.“And when I’d screw it up, because it would happen, trust me, it would hurt Colt and Maisie, too. You’d be on your own again, because there’s no chance you’d let me hang around and help you out like Ryan asked.”“And there it is.”“There it is. You’re Ryan’s little sister.”“There were only five years between us. Not so little, you know.” She reached for the remote.“I’m well aware.”“So if Ryan were still alive…” She shot one last look at me.I let everything slip for a millisecond, letting her see it all in my eyes, how badly I wanted her, and not just for her body. “Everything would be different.”“Everything?”“Everything but the way I feel about you, which he probably would have killed me for. Where does that leave us?”“You mean besides me being a dried-up spinster and you being honor-bound to a ghost?”“Something like that.”She rolled her head along the back of the couch, muttering something that sounded like a curse word under her breath. Then she sat up straight and powered on the TV with a click of her thumb. “That leaves us choosing a movie on demand. Because I’m not letting you walk out that door right now.”“You’re not?”“Nope. You walk out now, you might get all weird about this and not come back. Honor is a fabulous thing, but sometimes pride can be a lot stronger, especially when you convince yourself it’s for the good of the other person.”Damn, the woman knew me.“So movie it is,” I agreed. “Just…stay on your side of the couch.”“I wasn’t the one who crossed the center line,” she teased with a smile that got me hard all over again.Movie chosen, we sat and watched, both of us stealing sideways glances. There was that saying…the horse out of the barn. Yeah, the horse was out of the barn, and it wasn’t going back in. Not no way. Not no how. That horse was running amok and screwing with my carefully constructed control. But I didn’t complain when she moved over. Or when she pressed against my side. Nope. I lifted my arm and savored the feel of her curves, her trust. Still didn’t complain when she lay down in my arms. Hell no, I held on and memorized every second.

Zee + Annmarie and Tan + Jub...

Zee + Annmarie and Tan + Jubilee. Forever. No exceptions. They were to have the picture-perfect life together. Everything was all planned out. Jubilee was to marry Eitan and Ezekiel was to marry Annmarie. That’s how it was always supposed to be from the moment that they met. Textbook, right? Wrong. Eitan and Annmarie die in a freak accident that never should have happened, leaving the two survivors reeling. Sixteen years later, Jubilee and Zee can’t even be in the same room with each other before things begin to deteriorate. Too many memories. Too much pain. Not enough forgiveness. They’re like hellfire and holy water, and neither one of them is willing to admit that they’re wrong. Then one day things change, and all of a sudden, they’re looking at each other like maybe they aren’t each other’s enemies after all.

I really loved Jubilee and Zee. This brought me back to the old LLV days from the Boomtown books. I read this in one sitting and it only took a couple of hours. There wasn't really a whole lot of drama in this one like the other books...and I LOVED THAT! I guess I've been in a funk lately and this got me out of it. I loved Zee and I'm kind of glad his brother died because he sounded like a douche. I know that sounds really crass but just the way it was going, you could tell. I, now cannot wait until the next one.

Hell, he only finds out about the little cherub when a woman from child protective services comes by and rocks his world before leaving the girl in his shocked arms. Every single thing he thinks he knows goes up in a cloud of smoke. To make matters worse, the woman that he’s been trying to convince to give him a chance takes one look at the little girl and tells him that he’s just not in the right place to handle both of them. But Bayou was never one to back down from a challenge. He can handle a three-year-old girl that acts exactly like him, and he can more than take on the fiery red-head that sets flame to his blood while he’s at it.

At first, I didn't think I'd like this book as much as the other books but then I really got into it because it struck me as little different and it took me back to the Freebirds books. The other books I've been reading from LLV have all been rather predictable and that's not always a bad thing, but it's getting to where I can read them pretty quickly. I liked that the heroine is a strong role model and she takes no crap. She more often than not tries to save everyone else. Of course, this book has the LLV suspense and Beau always saves the day but that's okay because he's a beloved character. His daughter is adorable!! This again was an out-of-the-park book for me.

Excerpt:For a beat we stare at each other, neither of us voicing the undeniable truth thatsomething is happening between us. Something deep and real and scary. He pins me to the side of the pool, his arms framing mine, and leans closer. I can’tpry my eyes away from his lips, full and slick with water.“You make me want to try,” he quietly confesses.I’ve told myself a thousand times to stop thinking about the way he looks at me. Orthat he’s so sweet with Sam it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch those twointeract. Or that Roxy fell hard and fast in love with him from the outset and everyoneknows dogs are the best judges of character.I’ve told myself to stop staying awake at night wanting him but he makes it nearlyimpossible. His eyes fall to my lips and I swallow, goose bumps breaking out from myhairline to my toes.“Try what?” I ask in an equally quiet voice. Reaching out, I dare to run myfingertips over the short beard from the side of his face to his chin. His thick lashesbeaded with water flutter shut.“Be a better man for you.”“You’re the best man I know already…nothing to try for.”“You keep at it like that and I’m going to kiss you,” those perfectly shaped lipsmurmur. It sounds like a threat and a promise and part of me hopes it’s both.About P. Wade had everything he could ever want in life...then he...

Wade had everything he could ever want in life...then he lost it. Now, his life—his forever girl—is living in a house he built for her while he’s struggling to move on and find meaning where there isn’t any to be found. Landry Hill was his girl. his everything. His high school sweetheart. His first kiss. His first and only love. His old lady and wife Then one day he does something monumentally stupid. And she walks away knowing she’ll never come back. Fast forward five years, and he’s still just as in love with her now as he was when she left. The only problem is that she’s moved on with her life, found a new man, and seemingly forgotten him. Then there’s Wade—stuck in the same awful place where she abandoned him. The only thing he has left is his job as a police office and the Bear Bottom MC. Just when they both think things can’t get any worse, life kicks them both in the teeth, and Landry finds out really quick that the only person she can depend on is the one that let her walk away. With understanding comes a deal. One that Landry has no hope of ever breaking free from, and one Wade will do everything in his power to make a reality. But one thing is still certain. The force that split them apart is still out there. And there’s no hope of escaping fate.

“No, Wade,” I snarled. “It’s not just that easy.”He frowned. “What are you talking about? I realize that it’s tough, and it’s going to hurt, but baby, this is your sister! Your sister is your family. Your blood. You can’t just leave her in need.”That was when I felt everything inside of me still.“The first time I donated bone marrow to my sister, I was a toddler. Barely the age of two and a half,” I said, almost in a whisper. “The second time, I was four. The third? Seven. Do you see a pattern, Sergeant?”Wade frowned and tilted his head to the side, confusion spreading over his face.“My parents had me to be their donor baby,” I whispered. “They never wanted me. I was never allowed to be a child. I was a useful object to them.”Wade looked startled. “What do you mean by not being able to be a child?”I laughed maniacally.“I’m saying that I was bred to be their baby’s saving grace,” I hissed. “And I’m not doing it anymore. My sister is an asshole. My father’s a conniving bastard, and my mother is the biggest bitch known to man. Don’t you think that there’s a reason that I’ve never spoken of them?”He looked at me like I was crazy. “Honey, you told me that you had a falling out. But this is your sister.”I looked over at where my sister was sitting out on the front porch, silently crying her big, fat crocodile tears. She’d always been good at them. There was a time when I was younger that all she had to do was get that look on her face, and I’d be scared shitless.Because if Lina wasn’t happy, nobody was happy, least of all me.There was always going to be hell to pay if a single tear fell down Lina’s perfect cheek.Lina also looked like a little China doll. She had perfect blonde curls, soft, milky white skin, blue eyes the color of a crayon, and she was tiny.I, on the other hand, was none of those things but short.I had brown hair to her blonde, brown eyes to her blue, freckled skin to her perfect complexion, and when I tried hard, I was also skinny.Except, lately, I had been drinking beer and having the time of my life—living it like I’d always wanted to live it.“I won’t do it,” I refused again, sounding petulant now.I knew he didn’t understand.Deep down, Wade was a really good man. He’d experienced a lot in his life. He was a cop and had seen some very bad things. But, what he did not have, was a bad family. His family was awesome. His mom was the best mother in the whole world, and his dad was the kind of father I’d only ever dreamed of having when I was younger.God, even his brother was the best.He had no clue what it was like to hate your family like I did.Hell, the only reason he hadn’t heard of them sooner was because my sister hadn’t gotten sick enough to need me.Had she, Wade would’ve learned the truth about who my family was a hell of a lot quicker.“I’m going to tell her that you’re thinking about it, and we can discuss it more later, okay?” Wade offered. “I don’t want you to make any hasty decisions because you’re overreacting.”
A lot of this book had me going back and forth…Okay, so first of all – if my house burned down and it was some nutjob…I would lose my crap. Landry just batts an eyelash. Her daycare place is burned down and she just stays strong. Now, I don’t know about you but I would be losing my everloving mind. I loved the book, don’t get me wrong. I love almost everything LLV writes but you have to suspend belief on some of the things that go on. I do that and I enjoy it most of the time. I just had a hard time believing that a grandmother went over the rails that quickly for her daughter with no thought to her grandchildren and I work in the field of crazy. It was an enjoyable read though!!
