Staying on Top is my favorite book from Lyla Payne, and I wasn't sure that my favorite couple, Cole and Ruby, could be dethroned - but Blair and Sam have taken that spot! I loved that Lyla went in a different direction with this book, and that the story wasn't something you've read before. It has adventure, angst and sexual tension, which has set the stage for another good book in the Whitman University series. 
Sam Bradford is the #2 tennis player in the world, and after his shady accountant swindles him out of a large sum of money, Sam has a decision to make. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Blair Paddington shows up 'just in time' to help Sam, and despite the alarm bells going off in his head about her timely arrival, he accepts her offer to help him get his money back. 
What ensues is a wild goose chase across Europe, which is all part of Blairs plan, until the inevitable happens and she finds herself questioning who she is, and why exactly she's willing to betray Sam's trust.
This was an exciting read, and the quirky banter between Sam and Blair adds humor to their situations. Their sexual tension is addictive, and you'll be screaming "Just get it on already!" half way through! I think Lyla did an amazing job with this book, and as much as I hate to replace Cole and Ruby as my favorite Whitman University couple, the relationship between Sam and Blair, as well as their surprising circumstances, made this Lyla's best book to date :)

Oh my my my… Where do I even begin with this one?
I am obsessed with the South, and Kelly Elliott’s books both fuel and curb my love for hot, romantic stories with a hot, Southern backdrop. The heat, drama and quirky banter are plentiful in the first book of Kelly’s new series, and Broken has sure set the standard for the books that will follow.
This story is about Layton and Whitley. Layton grew up in some pretty tough circumstances, and had to become a man much sooner than he anticipated. Despite the odds against him, him and his brother, Mike, somehow make it out. Now, Layton is a full grown man, and fulfilling the promises he made to his brother before he died. He might have it all, but after Mike’s death, Layton has been living in limbo – until he rescues a city girl who flipped his world on its ass.
Whitley decides to pack up her life and start over in Llano, Texas, after her fiancée puts her in the hospital. Mud flew up everywhere, and she let out a scream that I was sure Mimi and her husband Frank would hear. I let off the gas and looked over toward her. She was covered in mud. “Oops. Whit, what’s wrong?” I dropped to my knees. She looked up at me, and the next thing I knew, I had a handful of mud in my face. She smeared it all over my face and down my neck. She started laughing, but then she quickly stopped when I looked at her. “You better run,” I said, glaring at her.“What?” She jumped up and started to run. I gave her a good thirty-second head start before I went after her. She kept looking back at me, laughing. Where are you taking me?” She must have seen the tank because she started kicking and screaming. “Scream all you want, honey. No one can hear you!” I laughed. “Mimi! Layton, please…I’ll do anything.”I walked up to the edge of the tank and saw a snake. Shit. She lucked out! I turned around and saw a huge mud puddle. I started walking toward the cabin. “Oh, thank God! I thought you were going to throw me in the tank.”“I was…but I saw a snake.” She started screaming and kicking again. “Oh my God! Put me down! Who is Kelly Elliott?
Really I'm just a wife to a wonderful Texas cowboy who has a nack for making me laugh almost daily and supports my crazy ideas and dreams for some unknown reason...he claims it's because he loves me.....so I'll just go with that one!

I live in the Texas hill country and one of my favorite things to do is go for hikes around our property with my second favorite man, Gus....my chocolate lab and my sweet girl Rose, our golden retriever. When I'm not outside helping the hubby haul brush or move rocks or whatever fun chore he has in store for me that day, you will find me inside reading, writing or watching HGTV and soaking in a nice hot bubble bath.....yeah that last one I just made up but it sure does sound nice!!!

“Don’t be so cranky. It’s okay to admit you have a thing for Bryn.” Ivy leans forward in her chair, a secretive smile curling her lips. “I have a feeling she has a thing for you too, you know.”

I do know. And I can’t act on it. Bryn James works for me. She’s my assistant. She’s by my side constantly; we spend more time with each other than probably anyone else in our lives, especially lately what with the winery’s grand reopening approaching. “It doesn’t matter. Nothing can happen.” I send Ivy a stern look. “And this conversation can never leave this office.” Glancing over her shoulder, I try to see if Bryn is at her desk but the chair is empty.

Ivy’s expression goes solemn and she holds up three fingers. “This conversation stays here. Scout’s honor.”

“You were never a scout,” I mutter, afraid she’s making a promise on an untruth. She’ll probably just blab to everyone. Or specifically Archer and Gage. I don’t need to hear their shit.

And I am worrying way too much over this.

This is what I keep telling myself. I can’t pursue anything with Bryn, no matter how much I’m tempted to. Not only would it be wildly inappropriate, dating my assistant, but we come from two different worlds. She seems nice and normal, quiet and unobtrusive, and I am anything but. My life has been a circus sideshow for years.

“I get it. You’re trying to do the right thing, and I admire that. So, of course you don’t see anything beyond an efficient assistant in Miss James.”

Well. Ivy’s not too far off the mark. When I first met Bryn, she hardly said two words, kept her head bent when I spoke to her and offered lots of yes-sir and no-sir answers. She had this way of almost blending in with the walls, like she didn’t want anyone to notice her.

So I didn’t.

As we got comfortable working together though, something happened. I’m thinking Ivy had a hand in Bryn’s slow transformation. She actually makes eye contact when she speaks to me, and she’s become somewhat animated. Started to wear bolder colors as well, drawing my attention to her chest though I keep my eyes averted as best I can.

These subtle changes made me notice all of the little things—like the color of her eyes (blue), how her hair looks (like silk and I want to touch it), and the tempting fullness of her lips (they’re spectacular).

Her gaze lingers when she looks at me and sometimes so does mine. Her smile softens, her voice drops lower when she speaks, sparking my imagination. Would she sound like that right before I kissed her? Took off her clothes? Took her to my bed?

Yeah. All of those are dangerous thoughts. I almost prefer the old Miss James. The one who was like the wallpaper—boring and nondescript. Mean to say, but hell, the last thing I need is a distraction.

And she’s become the biggest distraction I’m currently facing. The very last one I need.

I don’t even know where to start with this review because I am not sure I can find words adequate enough to convey how much I freakin’ LOVED this book!! Seriously, this was one of the hottest and emotion provoking books I have read in a long time. The author had me hooked with the very first line…
“I’m a sex addict and a virgin.”
I had NO idea what to expect after reading that and I couldn’t wait to find out more about this girl and what her story was. It was so consuming that I read the entire book in one sitting. I.Could.Not.Put.It.Down. The passion and emotion between these two characters was off the charts!
The Thrill of It is the story of Harley/alter ego Layla and Trey, two emotionally messed up people who meet in a tattoo parlor, have one amazing night together and then go their separate ways.








 However, fate has other ideas for these two and brings them back together when they both attend a meeting for Sex Addicts. They quickly become the best of friends but have to abstain from a relationship as that is one of the stipulations of their recovery, no relationships for a full year. Of course this is easier said than done and these two find themselves constantly drawn to each other but fighting their feelings every step of the way.
Harley is a 19 year old virgin who is essentially a “good girl”. However, Harley has a secret. She is also a high end call girl who goes by the name Layla. A call girl who has never even been to second base! She caters to a very specific type of client and has a pimp, Cam, who protects her and sets up her “dates” for her. Harley has this alter ego because her mom has really messed her up in terms of her perception of love and sex. Harley/Layla gets off on the control and the thrill of these men wanting her and has quickly become addicted to this feeling.
“The thing I value most, that I quest after. That I seek. Control.”
She doesn’t want to give up this life but she is being blackmailed by her mom’s boss to write a book of her life as a call girl. This blackmail is a result of an affair her mom was having and Harley’s need to protect her. Trying to stay away from her former life as Layla is a daily struggle for Harley and Trey is the only thing that is keeping her on the straight and narrow.
Trey is also an emotional, hot mess due to his parents but for different reasons. He is struggling with a horrible loss and his parents refusal to acknowledge or talk about it. As a result of this, Trey cannot commit or trust. He is so afraid to be hurt again or to express his feelings because he has only been taught to keep everything inside. Trey numbs his pain with older women...or as I like to call them, cougars. He is addicted to sex with older women and uses it as an escape and a way to numb the pain. A run in with the husband of one of his conquests is what prompts Trey to change his life and hence why he joins the sex addict group. Trey finds himself infatuated with Harley from the moment they meet but he fights it HARD.
“Maybe that’s why we can never be together….I don’t know what to do with someone who’s not a game, a conquest, a way to numb the pain. With her, I’d have to be myself, be honest, and truthful, and let her all the way in.”
Luckily for us these two can’t fight the attraction forever and they do give in. And when they do, let me tell you it is CRAZY HOT!! I am talking squirm in your seat, fog up your Kindle screen, make you wake up your husband at 2am... H.O.T!

OMG! I am fanning myself just thinking about it again!! Of course it isn’t easy for them and they go through a lot of crap that threatens to tear them apart. You will want to smack Harley's ridiculous mother and Trey’s parents upside the head several times :( But most of all, you will find yourself hoping these two can find the “ugly beautiful” in love. This book was AMAZING, you MUST read it and I give it 5 gigantic stars!!! Also make sure you check out the prequel novella, The Start of Us so you can experience how Trey and Harley meet for the first time :)

Are you feeling warm yet?” I watch his lips as he speaks
the words, husky and low.   His lips are
full, yet manly and suddenly I ache to lean over and press mine to his, to
touch them in any way that I can.  But I don’t.  Because I’m not a girl who gets
used.  Not anymore.   “No, not at all.” But Dominic takes that as a
challenge.  He’s not used to hearing the
word no and he’s not about to start now.
I see that in his dark eyes a scant moment before he dips his head and
consumes my mouth. I say consume, instead of kiss,

I first became a huge fan of Chelsea M. Cameron when I read 'My Favorite Mistake'. Her writing style and quirky characters often make it easy to get sucked into her books. 
It took me a chapter or 2 to get into 'For Real', and admittedly it's not my favorite from this author, but I found myself flipping pages because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. 
Shannon Travers is a virgin, and to her fiends (who I didn't have time for because they're terrible friends in my opinion) it is the worst possible 'situation' to be in - so instead of leaving the issue alone, they drag her out to bar in the hopes that she will finally hand in her dreaded V card. As always, nothing goes as planned, and her friends end up putting Shannon in a proverbial corner. This is when she meets Jett, a graphic design student covered in tattoos who ends up being her 'Knight in Shining Armor' when her friends push her too far. 
What ensues is a month long Fake Relationship which Shannon uses to gather friends to back off. But, after getting to know each other, Jett and Shannon find themselves in the precarious position of not knowing what's fake and what's not…
Jett and Shannon aren't like the 'typical' characters you would expect to read about in a book like this and it was refreshing. They are both poor students trying to make ends meet, and happen to be flawed individuals. Have I mentioned that Jett is Asian? No? Well he is, and it's strangely something that makes him very attractive. The back-and-forth banter is typical of a real couple, which is what causes the lines to blur in the first place, and in many ways, their fake relationship is only fake for a short while because of how easily they get along. 

I enjoyed the read, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a cute, lovable story with quirky characters :)
