*Release Day Launch: Greed by Fisher Amelie*

ABOUT GREED (Book 2 in the Seven Deadly Series):
Gather ‘round, love, because I want you. I want what you have, I want what you don’t have, I want more of what I already have. I want. But if you so much as ask for something in return, go ahead and walk away. Know if you want to play in my world, it’s every man for themselves and the weak become mine. Leeches will be obliterated because I make it my job to destroy them. I protect what’s mine and I take what’s yours...because that’s what I do. I want.
My story will not endear me to you and, frankly, I could care less if it does because I’m in this for the money and nothing else. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a corrupt, money hungry, immoral asshole from Los Angeles. I’m every man’s worst nightmare and every girl’s fantasy.
I’m Spencer Blackwell...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most coveted guy to the guy no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Excerpt
PrologueGreed is a strange, strange sin.All you want to do is acquire. Acquire money, acquire material, acquire time, acquire energy, acquire attention. The running mantra is “I want, I want, I want” but that quickly turns to “I need, I need, I need.” Suddenly there just isn’t enough time for friends, for family, for anyone. Your goal is to acquire and to make sure what you acquire stays acquired. Your life depends on it. You don’t see truth because the truth is shadowed by enormous homes, incredibly fast cars, in lavish spending. Your life no longer belongs to you, but you are blind to it all because those around you are seeking the same.So you shuffle along at an impossible rate, and you pass the real world around you.But what you’ll come to realize, altogether too late, is that it’s never enough. It’s simply never enough.Chapter One“It’s confirmed. Peter Knight of Evergreen won’t approve the acquisition. You know what to do,” my snake of a father told me, not two steps into his front door.“I just got off a seven-hour flight. You can’t let me settle in? Possibly say hello?”He stood, watching me, a slight tick in his square jaw. He tucked his hands into his Italian silk pants. His six-foot frame followed the steps up to the foyer and stopped a few inches away from my own. We were face to face. Although I fell an inch shorter, he no longer intimidated me. I knew if I had to, I could kick his ass.“Hello, Spencer,” he said, a serpent’s smile spread wide across his mouth before falling flat. “Get to work. I don’t pay you to sit around. I don’t care if it is your Christmas break.” We stayed where we were, each waiting on the other to back down. The tension was palpable. In the end, his face relaxed and he began to chuckle, stepping aside and making way for me. I picked up my bags and headed for my room, giving myself plenty of space to pass him without touching him. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I changed my mind and threw my bags on the second to last step, intending to pick them up later. I stretched my muscles, loving the feel of my back popping, and started for the kitchen.“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” he asked, still standing in the foyer, watching my every move.“If I don’t say hi to Mom and Bridge, they’ll think something’s up,” I told him and continued on.
He didn’t respond, but I felt his stare burning into the back of my head.

TeaserShe made sure to look as inconspicuous as possible for her first day of classes: jean shorts, tank top, flip flops. She kept her hair down but pulled it off her face with a headband. She wore a tad bit of makeup. Nothing showy, but she thought first day classes warranted mascara and lip gloss, at the least.
She slid into a seat in the row closest to the windows. She didn’t bother to look for Michael. Or save him a seat. She still wasn’t sure about that guy. She felt guilty for not telling Mark about Michael’s kissing comment. She wanted a friend, but she was unsure if he was a good one. She scanned the room for somebody better. She needed a girlfriend. And there was one sitting directly behind her.
“Hi,” Cadence said tentatively.
“Hi,” the girl replied.
Cadence wasn’t sure what else to say. Neither was the girl. That was until she recognized Cadence.
“You went to Crestview High.”
Cadence’s face fell. “Yeah.”
“My friend went there. She graduated with you.”
Cadence nodded.
The girl leaned in and whispered, “Did you really have an affair with your math teacher?”

*Release Day Event: Her by Carey Heywood*

You know her side of the story, now learn his.
"It was useless. I felt branded beneath my skin by a girl who left without even saying goodbye."
When Will Price was assigned a partner for a sixth grade class project he had no idea she would become his best friend. After years of friendship, she eventually became so much more. Then, one day she left with no explanation.
Will’s life shattered right before his eyes and he was left alone to pick up the pieces. Floundering, Will must figure out a way to carry on, to find a way to exist without her.
Seven years later, a chance encounter leaves him desperate to get her back. He has one week to make her his again. Not everyone gets a second chance with the love of their life and Will is determined to never lose her again.
My Review
Since I haven't reviewed 'Him' until now, this will be a double review, which I think is quite fitting for this story :) I want to start off by saying that Carey Heywood has a very unique style of writing, one which I came to love very early on when I started reading 'Him'.
This is one of my absolute favorite 'clichés' ever - best friends who grew up together who eventually fall in love <3 #Sigh… And for Will & Sarah, their romance was so sweet, and real, and every bit a true reflection of young love. Naturally, they have no idea how they feel about each other and they spend a great deal of time torturing each other by choosing to 'be' with other people…
But, nothing lasts forever and when a stupid ex-girlfriend and silly miscommunication cause things to fall apart, Sarah makes a decision that only breaks her heart, but Will's heart too…
It's now 7 years later and Sarah has to go home for her brother's wedding - but that's not the reason she doesn't want to go. She'll be forced to see Will again, after all this time, and has no idea how to deal; with it. What she doesn't realize that Will has the same fear.
The first time they see each other, it's as if nothing had changed - it's like they are both still the love sick teens they once were - yet everything has changed. The only thing that has remained the same is how they feel about each other…
This story, and the way Carey wrote it, was a breath of fresh air - I liked that it took place 7 years after their relationship fell apart so abruptly and yet you could still feel the hurt. 'Her' is told from Will's P.O.V and provides a contrasting story to that told from Sarah's P.O.V. You get to see how he was affected, which really endeared me to him because he wasn't the same after Sarah. I loved these books, and I absolutely loved Sarah & Will, I spent most of the time hoping & praying that they would work their issues out so that they could be together!
This was a great read, and I strongly recommend that both books are read as this enhances how the reader experiences the story and the way it is told!

British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. Far Too TemptingReview by Michelle
When I first began reading Far Too Tempting, I thought…”Hmmm...I don’t know if this one is for me.” I usually stick strictly to YA and NA so this was a big switch up for me. I will admit it took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but when I did, I found myself really enjoying the story and the characters!
FTT is the story of Jane Black, an Adele like artist who has just won her first Grammy for her album, Crushed. The album was inspired by the breakup of her marriage and is her first album to finally make it big after 3 failed attempts. Jane is a woman who is really struggling with her self confidence, especially her confidence in her sex appeal, as a result of finding out her ex husband was gay throughout their entire marriage. She feels betrayed, ashamed, foolish and angry at having lived a lie for so long and having no clue as to what her husband’s true feelings were. This betrayal and anger is what yielded her a Grammy winning album. While her career is at all time high, Jane is desperately in need of someone to make her feel wanted and desired….but mostly, she wants to feel ADORED.
“But I want to have what that Starbucks couple has. I want someone to want me. I want to be desired, I want to be admired, I want to be adored.”
Enter one Mr. Matthew Harrigan. Matthew is an incredibly HOT, British music reviewer for Beats magazine and is the object of Jane’s desire. Matthew is a big fan of Jane’s music and is assigned to do a feature piece on her for his magazine. The two have an instant connection but Jane is hesitant to form any relationship because of her past which has caused her to have HUGE trust issues.
“Because I’d get my heart broken again. Because he’d probably be harboring some secret too. Because the last seven years of my life turned out to be a lie.”
“Secrets can be alluring. But secrets can be devastating too.”
Matthew is hesitant to become involved as well in order to maintain his professional integrity. The two try to fight the attraction but it is unavoidable. They eventually give into their desires and when they do, the steam will heat your Kindle up!!
“He wraps a hand around my waist, tugging me closer as he kisses me, and I’ve lost all awareness of my surroundings, of the city, of the last several days of my life because the second Matthew’s lips touch mine, I know it is one of those kisses.”
Jane is also struggling with writer’s block and is under great pressure to produce songs for her new album which is about to start recording. She has come to the conclusion that she can only write good songs when she is miserable and unhappy. She hopes her relationship with Matthew will inspire her to write great songs about love and starting over but it isn’t quite that simple. She soon learns she has to forgive herself and her ex husband for the past before she can start over.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a romantic, steamy, well written, HEA that will warm your heart. This was a 4 star read for me!

*Blog Tour: Always Enough by Stacy Borel*

HI Brats :)
Today, the blog tour for Stacy Borel's newest book, Always Enough, makes a stop here at TheSecretBookBrat HQ :) Stacy is one of my favorite Indie Author's and I'm happy to say this book was worth the wait :)

Synopsis
“There is nothing worse than pretending that you don’t care about something, when that is all you can think about.”
Harper Graham wears a mask, and not the pamper kind. She conceals her pain with shoes, shots, and lots of sex. But while her life appears fantastic to most, Harper herself knows that the most important thing in life is not financial stability, but emotional. Having been let down by her absent father for most of her life, Harper chooses to keep the men in her life at arms length. Well, that was until Kyler Morgan.
Kyler Morgan has been successful at nearly everything in his life … nearly. Traveling the country with the band Down Glory Road, Kyler has had time to reflect upon his life and in particular his relationship with feisty, drop-dead gorgeous realtor, Harper. Realizing that she is the woman of his dreams, Kyler resolves to win back Harper, and prove to her that she is, and always has been, enough.
But the path to true love rarely runs smoothly, and when their journey takes a number of twists and turns, will Harper and Kyler manage to hold tight, or fall by the wayside?
Goodreads Amazon Barnes andNoble
My Review
When I started reading Always Enough, I didn't go in with any expectations, simply because I know it would be difficult for this book to match up to it's predecessor, Ever Enough. While Emilyn & Finley's story in Ever Enough was wrought with emotional roller coasters, devastation, loss, love and forgiveness, Always Enough matched it with sexual tension, chemistry, angst and a whole lot of HOT HOT HOT.
I was glad for the change in pace, and I feel Stacy did a great job with this story, even if it didn't knock the Earth out from under me the way her first book did. I loved Harper and Kyler so much in the first book that when I heard they were getting their own story, I was impatient to read it.
On the surface, both Harper and Kyler appear to have it together, when underneath they're just a hot mess. And when they are together, it's an even hotter mess that will end up steaming up your iPad/Kindle screen.
Because of Harper's childhood, and turbulent relationship with an absent father, she has some major trust issues when it comes to men. She has buried herself by working hard and playing even harder - but with no strings attached. It has always worked for her, until she realizes that there is more to her relationship with Kyler.
Kyler is on the verge of stardom, touring with his new band and doing the one thing he thinks he loves more than anything - performing. But he's no longer the young, naive boy he used to be, and he finds himself questioning what's important when his life starts to crumble. He comes to the conclusion that there is actually something, or rather someone, who he would give everything up for - his Harper.
Watching these two navigate a normal relationship, when all they've ever been is friends who occasionally bonk like rabbits, is often comical but so real. This story was a true depiction of being in a relationship when both people have trust issues.
In the end, after a few misunderstandings and mishaps along the way, Kyler and Harper end up being exactly who they need to be for each other. Needless to say, I was a hot, swooning mess after I read this :)
I can't wait to see what Stacy comes up with next!

EXCERPT
I walked as far away from him as I could and sat on the unmade bed. Pinning him with a glare I asked, “To what do I owe the pleasure, traitor?” “Traitor?” He actually looked shocked. “Well, I could actually come up with a few other choice words. In fact maybe it’s a good thing that you came here. It’ll save me the trip of finding you.” I brought the cup to my mouth and took a slow sip. His mouth quirked up in a slow, sexy grin. “You were coming to look for me?” I leveled a glare at him. “I know what you did, and you have some serious explaining and groveling to do.” “And what is it you think I did?” “Don’t play games with me, Kyler. You told Em everything.”He shrugged. “And?” I was getting more and more pissed off by his nonchalance and ‘whatever’ attitude. “What was your reasoning? Besides you thinking that if you told my best friend everything maybe I would see the error of my ways and come back to you?” The smirk that was on his face slowly faded into a frown. “I never assumed anything. In fact, I’d have to be the dumbest man on earth to assume anything when it comes to you.” What did he mean by that? Before I got a chance to think more about it, he started to stalk slowly toward me. With every step, my heartbeat picked up. His gaze was unyielding and I felt my anger going away, and desire mixed with nervousness crept in. I wanted to pinch myself to remind me why I was angry, and to hold on to that anger. It was the only emotion I wanted to feel right now. Lust was an unwelcome sensation, and I hated that I felt nervous about his advancement. “What are you doing?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. “I’m going to prove to you that I don’t assume things…I know things.”

The first time Roger hit her for arguing with him about a dinner party, she forgave him. The more it happened, the further Whitley withdrew from her friends and family. One fateful day things go to far. Whitley makes a promise to herself and finds the courage to do the one thing she thought she’d never be able to do.
Fleeing with her best friend Courtney, Whitley was determined to put her past behind her and start a new life in the small town of Llano, Texas, where no one would ever find out about her past.
Will they both ever learn to trust and love again, or will their pasts come back to haunt them, keeping them both alone and…
Broken.

About Kelly

Really I'm just a wife to a wonderful Texas cowboy who has a nack for making me laugh almost daily and supports my crazy ideas and dreams for some unknown reason...he claims it's because he loves me.....so I'll just go with that one!
I'm also a mom to an amazing daughter who constantly is asking me to make her something to eat while she has her fingers moving like mad on her cell phone sending out what I'm sure is another very important text message!
Oh...and I like to sit down and write in my spare time!
I live in the Texas hill country and one of my favorite things to do is go for hikes around our property with my second favorite man, Gus....my chocolate lab and my sweet girl Rose, our golden retriever. When I'm not outside helping the hubby haul brush or move rocks or what ever fun chore he has in store for me that day, you will find me inside reading, writing or watching HGTV and soaking in a nice hot bubble bath.....yeah that last one I just made up but it sure does sound nice!!!
