Synopsis'I will always take care of you'My pain started when I was just ten years old, it was the day my mom got that dreaded phone call. Life has never been the same....
'I will always protect you'
I am all kinds of broken....
I have known Logan White since forever, he is my brothers best friend and my secret protector. I used to have nightmares that drew me into a dark place and when the nightmares got too much, Logan was by my side. The nightmares are few and far between now, but my life is centered around the tragedy of my past.
Logan is the definition of 'man whore', with girls lining around the block to drop their panties at the click of his fingers. But after an unexpected moment things change. Now Logan is somebody else; hot, sexy and so damn delicious and I want to know him. Desperately.
But then there is Angel Walker who is far from the angelic nature of his name, with eyes so hypnotic that I lose my inhabitation’s just by staring into them. But he is a broken man who just screams sin. He doesn't want to protect me or care for me, He just wants me.
Do I want the man who can cut through all of my pain or the man who could cause me more?
Fists will fly, hearts will shatter and desire will be fueled.

Thud.
One...thud. Two...thud. Three...thud.
I can feel hands around my throat, my breathing becoming shallow as I try to scream on the inside, not knowing if my own nightmare filled with the demons of my past will kill me while I sleep. My heartbeat roaring as it pounded relentlessly, leaving a ringing sensation in my ears. The smell of antiseptic so potent against my nostrils suddenly hit me, it was so strong that I could taste it in the back of my throat. The pressure around my neck slackened enough for me to get my bearings, I was back on the bridge again, pinned to the wooden slabs by someone or something I couldn't see nor describe. There was no where to go, I was trapped on the bridge that lead to no where, keeping me forever in the darkness, never to see the light again.
I could taste the fear in my throat drowning out the antiseptic, I could feel my fear pouring into my gut as my body absorbed it, it was in my bones, in my soul. The fear in the air caused me to look back at demon above me, a black and smoky silhouette figure towering over my tiny frame, I could never make out who or what the demon was, but I knew I should fear it.
The grip around my neck tightened once more, my hands trying to reach for anything to help free me, but there was nothing, there was always nothing. I could see the bridge clearly but I could never feel it against my skin, just the subconscious pressure of it against my back, a mixture of pressure and the feeling of floating.
“Stop, please. No!” I wanted to scream but my vision was becoming blurred as my head swam with weightlessness. Images projected against the dark shadow of the demon above me, a car severely damaged, flashing blue lights and screaming, organized chaos.
I thought I was going to die, I was ready just to let go, but I never died in my nightmares, I just hung on the edge, the demon making me remember.
Suddenly the nightmare slowly started to release me, the twisted dark depths of my past slowly fading into a painful reminder of what was cruelly taken, what I would never get back.
Thud...my heart slamming against my chest.
Thud...my throat constricting tightly.
Thud...my lungs burning with every breath.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
My lids were heavy, so heavy that I didn't think I could open my eyes.
"Come back to me" A familiar soothing voice wrapped around around my mind, trying to release me of my own painful imprisonment.
I tried desperately to speak to the voice, wanting them to pull me out from the torture that held me captive within my own mind, my tongue heavy and my mouth dry. My skin becoming saturated with sweat, my toes curling as if in pain, my heart heavy with unrelenting sadness.
The light was almost to much to bare as I finally managed to open my eyes, squinting as the light penetrated my pupils, burning right through me. There was a figure above me once more, but it wasn't dark and twisted like the demons in my nightmares, it was home. I'm home.

Teaser
I gave her a full smile before I pulled her into my chest, wrapping my arms around her tiny body. She fit perfectly against mine, and I couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like to lay next to her. To feel her skin against my own, with no barriers between us and nothing to break us apart.
The crisp night air rustles my soft brown tendrils, making them tickle my cheeks. I glance down one last time as my bare toes dangle over the sandy edge. The sounds of cars passing below barely register in my mind, as I'm thinking of the things that I no longer have control over. Another gust of wind whips across my hyper sensitive skin, sending chills down my spine. A slight shiver has me crossing my arms across my chest to keep in the minimal amount of warmth still flowing through my body. The vast Pacific Ocean looks serene and unbelievably calm at this hour and I can't help but realize the draw people have to it's embrace.
I could still taste her on my lips. My head was reeling from our kiss. My heart felt more open and accepting than it had ever felt before. Something about her had me yearning for her touch, and longing for her presence. I was well aware that Riley had her own issues that were keeping her from me, but part me wanted to be one of them. For as long as I could remember, I had never felt the kind of love that Riley encompassed. It wasn't an 'in your face' kind of love. It was a love that ran deep and true and one that she would cherish forever despite the consequences or outcome.

*Blog Tour: Carter Reed by Tijan*

Hi Brats :)
I am very excited about being a top on the blog tour for this fantastic book :) Tijan is one of my absolute favorite authors and I always find myself devouring her books too quickly :) Carter Reed has experienced amazing success, which should be one more reason to pick it up :) Make sure you read the sexy excerpts, buy the book, and then enter the giveaway - Carter Reed demands you to :) ~ Tam

SYNOPSIS
Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.
My Review
Carter Reed was the first book in the Crime/Organized Crime/Mob genre that I read, and I'm so glad it was from one of my absolute favorite authors, Tijan. Carter Reed is an addictive story about two people, Carter and Emma, both with pasts, and what they're willing to do to protect each other. Emma finds herself stuck in the middle of a mob war when she's forced to protect her best friend, making the tough decision to kill her boyfriend. There's only one person she can turn to for help, and protection, but she isn't sure that Carter Reed will remember her...
As fate would have it, Carter Reed has become one of the most powerful men in his field, and when his best friends little sister comes to him for help, he does anything and everything he can to keep her safe from the people hunting her down. What she doesn't know is that Carter Reed has been looking after her for most of her life and everything he has ever done has been to make sure she has freedom, away from the life he never wanted for her.
Tijan has written another amazing book - the sexual tension, angst, excitement, action are all rolled together perfectly in this book, and I found myself staying up until the early hours of the morning to get my 'Carter Fix.' He demands your attention throughout the story and it's easy to understand why Emma is so enthralled with him. I absolutely love Tijan's books and Carter Reed definitely didn't disappoint :)

EXCERPT #1
"Tell me what happened." His plea was so soft.I broke. This wasn't the stranger anymore. This was Carter, the boy I had grown up with. I flung my arms around him and pulled him down. Instead of fighting, I clung to him now.He wrapped his arms around me and rolled to his side. He patted my back and tucked his head into the crook of my neck and shoulder. I felt his lips brush there as he repeated, "You have to tell me. I won't hurt you. I will protect you."A shudder went through my body. At last. Those were the words I was desperate for. He moved his hands, one sliding down to my hip and the other cradling the back of my head, he pressed into me. The last of my reserve fled then. A gasp escaped me and I pressed against him. I needed him."Emma."Shame flooded me. He knew. What kind of person was I? Fighting, running away, and then starting to tremble in his arms? His hand started to caress my hip. His fingers slid underneath my shirt and moved under my pants' waistband. He held me there, his hand splayed out. I tried to resist, but I wanted to wind my legs around him. I wanted to pull him on top of me and feel his hand between my legs. But I didn't do anything. I lay there, still, as my heart pounded inside of me. He could feel the beat against him. The thumping drowned everything else out.He pressed a soft kiss to my forehead and raised himself up again. He looked down at me. The plea in his eyes was still there. As he brushed some of my hair from my forehead, he asked, "Do you not trust me?"I nodded. "I'm scared of you."A small grin appeared at the corners of his mouth. "You are?""I don't know who you are anymore." I couldn't believe I was admitting any of that, but I needed to trust someone. I had to if I was going to survive what I had done. Feeling a little bit brave, I touched his chest. My hand spread out like his was on my back. His heart was steady. I murmured, "I know who you are. I know you're the Cold Killer. I know what you did for AJ." A tear slipped from the corner of my eye. It fell unheeded. "I always wanted to thank you for that."
EXCERPT #2
"It was you that time before," I gasped as Carter's lips brushed against my neck. He lingered on my pulse. His tongue swept against it as I tried to turn around to him. I needed to feel him against me, between my legs, but his arms tightened around me. He moved behind me and pressed into me.He murmured against my skin, "It was me."I clasped a hand over his on the other side of my neck and held it there, claiming him, as I turned in his arms. His hand slid across the front of me and I saw him. His eyes were dark with lust and need. I knew he saw the same in me, but I didn't care any longer. I needed him, but I remembered that night. My roommate left and I'd been alone until I felt someone behind me. The liquor in me hadn't been enough to turn off all my inhibitions, but they had helped. My skin sizzled as I thought of that night again, how it had been him behind me.He whispered against my skin as he lowered his head, "I was in the security room. I saw you on the cameras and couldn't help myself." His arms slid around to my back. He pressed a hand to my hip and anchored me against him.I gasped as he pressed his hips into me, but then he lifted and carried me to the corner. It was the same as that night. He held me suspended in the air, so I wound my legs around his waist. I felt him even more against me and then his hands slid under the edge of my dress, to the inside of my thighs. He felt the string of my thong, in the apex between my legs, and started to rub against it.Desire and pleasure rushed through me. I was feverish for him. I held on, urging him to do more. My hips began to move in rhythm with his hand and it wasn't long before he swept my dress up and his hand was against my skin."Carter," I whispered, my back and throat arched for him. He placed a kiss there, licking.
EXCERPT #3
Images of the two of us flashed in my mind and I grew wet again. He was going to be the death of me. A part of me knew that once I felt him inside of me, it wouldn't be enough. I would want more. I would never be satisfied, and when he made me come, that'd only been the teaser. My body was primed and ready again. My hand slid down his muscular back. It felt all the ridges, all the dips and curves. A dark pleasure spread through me when I felt his muscles contract as he turned his head to see me.This was mine.He was mine.He groaned and had me against the wall in a second. His hands grabbed my hips and positioned me at an angle before he slammed his into mine. I felt the bulge in front of his pants. That was for me. All for me. He bent over me and lowered his lips just above mine as he thrust against me.I couldn't breathe. My hands held onto his arms. The muscles there also moved underneath my touch, as if wanting more."This," he growled in a whisper against my lips. "This is what I wanted that night. I couldn't contain myself and I had to taste you, but tonight is the night I really have you. You're mine, Emma. You always have been."I nodded, so weak against his touch."Mine."He was mine as well, but I didn't say it. Not yet, though everything in my body was aching for me to do so.He took my hand again and led the way out into the hallway. People stopped and watched us as we left. I knew it was because of him. Carter was lethal. His body was carved and molded to perfection. His eyes were cold while his face resembled an angel's. Everyone knew who he was, where he had come from. Even the media went into a frenzy when he was seen in public. However, he moved like a ghost, how he trained his men to be, so those moments were rare, and this moment wasn't any different. His staff had seen him before, but they all went quiet in the presence of a deadly panther.A wave of possession rocked through me. My legs shook as I remembered my climax. This creature who held my hand was mine, as I was his. I belonged to him and I gasped in silence as I felt his claim sink into my blood. It went deep to the bones. Everything in me belonged to him, and as I followed him through his club, I knew that I was becoming addicted to him. My hand yearned to touch his back again, to slide across his muscles and so much more.I bit down on my lip. This ache wasn't going to go away. The ache between my legs and the ache that resonated deep inside of me grew every time I was with him, every time he looked and touched me.A soft sigh left me and he glanced back.I was scorched by his gaze. His wolf eyes saw into me. I was stripped bare to him, no matter what I wore or how many walls were around my heart. He saw through everything. His hand tightened around mine, and he lifted it. His lips grazed against the top of it. My eyes closed, the ache doubled between my legs at that soft caress."Sir." A man stepped out of the shadows. Another guard.Carter stopped as he listened to what the man had to say. He spoke quietly so I couldn't hear, but both glanced at me."What?"His eyes narrowed and darkened. His hold on my hand became possessive.I asked again, "Carter? What is it?"He turned, his decision made, and he curved a hand into the place between my shoulders blades. He started to walk with me down a hallway. As we got further along, I saw Mike waiting for us and then I recognized it was the same box where I had left Noah and Theresa. I dug my feet in. I didn't know what was going on, but I knew he was going to leave me there. Something came up and he needed to handle whatever it was, but I didn't want to be left behind."Emma?""No." I shook my head. "You're not leaving me." Not again.
EXCERPT #4
When we got there, he let go, but I took his hand again and led him into the bathroom. His face had been battered from the beatings. There was dried blood over him, in his hair as well, and he stood there watching as I inspected every wound. He winced as I probed his ribs, so instead of having him lift his shirt over, I took a firm hold at the top and ripped it. It fell to the floor. My eyes took it all in. His chest and ribs had taken the brunt of the kicks, at least the ones I saw. The tips of my fingers softly grazed over him, and he hissed from the pain.My eyes caught his. I saw the pain and took a deep breath. Strength surged inside of me. He needed mine so I pointed to the counter and murmured, "Sit." My voice came out hoarse, and I bit down on my lip. Pain sliced me when he made a motion to vomit. When he didn't, I let out the breath I'd been holding and warmed some washcloths.Pressing it to the cut on his nose, the washcloth immediately turned red from the blood. He hissed some more when I continued to his swollen cheek, then his swollen eye."You should see a doctor."He nodded, closing his one eye. Slowly, he leaned forward and rested his forehead on my shoulder. His lips moved against my skin as he answered, "I had to see you first."My hand lifted to cradle the back of his head. I drew another deep breath in and rested my head against his. My eyes closed. I felt his pain and I hated it. He shouldn't have been hurting, but I knew he put himself in that situation for a reason. So many questions flew in my head, but I refrained from asking. My fingers began to massage the back of his head, delicately at first and they grew stronger when he didn't grimace or flinch away. Instead, his hand moved to the small of my back and he pressed me tighter against him. As I kept massaging, he grew more and more tired. His weight leaned on top of me until all of it was there. He had fallen asleep. I was holding him up and I stood there. I continued holding him. I would've stood there for hours, standing for him but a small movement caught my eye and I looked up.Amanda had a hand to her mouth. She watched from the doorway. As she did, a lone tear slipped down. Then she mouthed, "He's asleep?"

Release Day Excerpt:
I only had a moment to observe how very clean it was before he had me against the wall, pinned by
his huge physique.
“You never came.”
His voice was a low, husky whisper. “I waited all night.”
My hands rested on his chest, and heat flamed through me with every heartbeat. My eyes traveled
up, up, up to his. They were darkened now, and I was certain he was thinking
the same thing as me. He remembered how fantastically our bodies came together two nights ago. I barely registered him reaching out to lock the door.
“I’m sorry,” was all I could say.
“When you walked in the restaurant tonight… god, you’re so beautiful.” He spoke against my skin as
his lips pressed into my brow, his beard roughing my closed eyelids. “Are you feeling bad?”
“No,” I managed to say despite the heat surging through me as his lips moved to my temple. “I…
didn’t think I could eat.”
“Good,” he said in a thick voice before covering my mouth with his. Mine opened quickly, drawing him in. Our tongues entwined before his lips moved to my jaw then down my neck.
“I thought about you all day.” His breath whispered across my skin, and I couldn’t stop a surge of
desire low in my stomach. “Will you let me have you here?”
“Yes,” I barely spoke, and he dropped to his knees.
He gathered the thin fabric of my dress, shoving it up to my waist as he caught the side of my thong with his thumb.

Hi Brats :):)
After a relaxing weekend away, I am finally back in the office and here at TheSecretBookBrat it's busier than ever :) These teaser pics were supposed to be revealed yesterday, but because I was on the road all day, I was unable to make the post :) Which is why I'm sharing them today :)

BEFORE WE FALL Synopsis:
Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...
For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.
23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.
Until she meets Dominic.
After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.
Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.
Sometimes, before we fall... we fly.

Review – Lovely by Beth Michele
Lovely… A simple word that holds so much… and that’s exactly how I felt about this book…
I fell in love with Beth Michele’s book, Love Love, and this one was no different. It tells the story of Ashton Taylor, a boy who has had to become a man far quicker than most guys his age. After the death of his father, Ash had to step up and start taking care of his mother and two younger siblings, a role he has taken very seriously. He hides behind a cocky attitude and uses sex to feel.
Until he meets Cara Haywood…
Cara doesn’t want to be seen and after the death of her parents, her and her older sister decided it was time to start over. She spends her days in the most magical places – with fictional characters and in the company of the worlds most romantic poets. She’s reserved and quiet, and likes it that way, but when Ashton walks into her life, he turns it upside down in the best way imaginable.
It is impossible not to fall in love with these two wonderful characters. Ashton is arrogant and cocky, but shows such a sweet endearing side to himself, both with his family and then with Cara. He is the kind of guy your mom would love for you to have and the kind of guy your father warns you to stay away from. You get to know every aspect of him, what makes him tick.
Cara is very guarded at first, ignoring Ashton’s advances until she finally gives in. She learns that there’s more than the eye can see when it comes to Ash, and finds herself drawn to him, intrigued by him. They become what’s best for each other, and even when their relationship is tested, their love proves strong enough to withstand anything.
This is a story about love – the kind of love that withstands time and proves to be epic. There are beautiful moments, and there are moments that will leave you a sobbing mess. This is one book that will stay with me….

EXCERPT #2My feet continue to trail a path across the dewy grass, the cool breeze hitting my face as I make my way to the brick building housing the campus library. I pull off my aviator sunglasses and hook them over the ridge of my t-shirt, exhaling a groan of silent protest. Today’s just another day of going through the motions. My mind runs through the exams I need to study for and the work I need to get done around the house when I push through the double glass doors of the library and see … her.She looks just like an angel. The sight of her makes my dick hard. An involuntary shudder courses through me, my pulse thrashes against my neck, and my heart beats vigorously inside my chest. Soft waves of chestnut curls dance over her shoulder, her skin is so flawless it’s reminiscent of swirled cream, and her perfectly-shaped lips, lips the exact color of raspberries, beckon to me. Her curves are framed by a blue and white floral dress, her sweet face consumed by a pair of large, black-rimmed glasses. Wait, that’s odd. It doesn’t fit the rest of the picture.I continue to watch her as she checks books out for students yet, still doesn’t look up. I shuffle my feet along the dark brown rug and wait for her eyes to come to me but I get nothing in response.Adding a sharp cough to the shuffle ought to do it. Hmph. She continues to look down at her books, completely disinterested. Highly unusual.I’m not liking it and I intend on changing it. A challenge … yeah, I’m up for it. Thinking fast, I swipe a book off the shelf and toss it on the counter in hopes I can meet her eyes. She moves her painted fingers toward my book and flips it over. A laugh tickles her throat as her head bobs from side to side. When I stare down at the counter it all makes sense. Pleasing Your Man: Everything You Don’t Want to Ask but Need to Know. Well, I guess I’ve got her attention now.

EXCERPT #3She turns so her back is now flush with my chest, her ass pushing against my groin, my hard-on straining against my pants. I gently lift her hair up off her neck, pressing quiet kisses to her shoulders, trailing my tongue along her nape. She whimpers, angling her head and giving me access to her throat. I drag my lips down to her collarbone, licking and sucking until I hear her moan again, goosebumps popping and dancing all over her back. Running my knuckle down the side of her cheek, my fingers continue to move lower to skip along the soft flesh of her arm and I feel her body shiver. I spin her around to face me, needing to see her now.“You’re so fucking beautiful, you know that?” I breathe against her lips. She looks up at me, her voice thick with desire. “I want you to touch me, Ash,” she whispers hoarsely. “I want to feel your hands all over me. I’ve never wanted anyone’s hands on me the way I want yours, right now.”
About the Author I am a wife, a mom, an author, and a lover of all things chocolate, well, anything sweet really. While stuffing chocolate in my face, I enjoy reading young adult and new adult novels furiously, and spending time with my husband and two adorable children who keep me on my peppermint pink painted toes. Those same children who inspire me to tell silly stories that cause hysterical giggles to tumble from their bellies.I love to laugh and love to have a good cry, especially after reading a novel that stretches my soul, one that makes me feel, and lingers in the corner of my heart.I’m a hopeless romantic and a happily ever after fanatic, and I love to write about LOVE.I began writing when I was in middle school, penning anything from short stories, to poetry, and then later moved on to write children’s books. I have now endeavored into New Adult and Contemporary Romance novels and am loving every minute of it. My first novel, Love Love, was released in May, 2013.

He's starting over alone and doesn't know quite how to proceed. Certain members of The Crew refuse to let him face things by himself, taking him under their wing, and it doesn't take the ladies long to notice him, either.
Sometimes life doesn't go as you had planned. Sometimes it goes better.
Embrace it.
Embrace, the second book in the Evolve Series by S.E. Hall, follows the characters from her debut New Adult romance, Emerge

Lunch is even more fun- oh, not here, but somewhere, I’m sure. I sit down with Zach and Sawyer, my stomach so in knots I’m not sure I can eat, so I peacefully concede my whole plate over to Sawyer when he’s eaten at least half of my fries rather than slap away his hand like I usually do.
Zach’s mesmerized by his phone, shocker, so I kick him under the table. “Ow,” he leans down and rubs his leg. “What the hell was that for?”
“I don’t know,” I shrug, “tell me something interesting.”
“Avery says hey,” he says, staring at his phone again.
“Oh my God, if that’s the best you’ve got, I’m screwed.”
Sawyer stops inhaling his, make that my food, just long enough to interrupt. “Avery huh? Kirby get on your nerves too?”
Okay, this is a conversation that may actually keep me entertained.
“Kirby’s cool, she doesn’t get on my nerves, but I’m definitely more into Avery,” he smiles shyly.
Yes! I lost $20 on Sawyer, but just won the same with Zach’s confirmation, so I break even!
“Well no wonder Kirby’s gone if you’re getting into Avery more.”
“Sawyer!” I smack the back of his head. “Say nothing Zach, I mean it.” This convo is going seriously downhill fast but actually gets worse when Sawyer speaks again.
“Sig party tomorrow night man, you in? We’re heading over when I get off, bout eleven.”
“Who’s we?” Zach asks.
“Me and Evan,” Sawyer darts one eye at me, shifting a bit in his seat.
“Nah man, ya’ll go. I’m gonna hang with Avery. What are you gonna do Laney?"
“Um, not go to a party with Sawyer and Evan,” I laugh, half-heartedly. “I’ll be doing whatever Dane has planned I’m sure. And Sawyer?” I stare at him until he reluctantly meets my eyes. “I appreciate you taking Evan under your wing, honestly. Just make sure you and I stay close too, alright?” I give him a pleading smile. I’d really miss Sawyer if we grew apart.
