*Blog Tour: Escaping Me by Elizabeth Lee*

Hi Brats :):)

Today the blog tour for Elizabeth Lee's 'Escaping Me' makes a stop at TheSecretBookBrat HQ :):) This was another fab book that you should DEFINITELY add to your TBR lists NOW!! :)

ESCAPING ME Synopsis:
All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere—she couldn't.

He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.

Here's the thing they quickly found out—sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are. My ReviewOh my.... I completely devoured this book... loved it... Whitney decides to spend the summer with her mom and sister in the middle of nowhere after she walks in on her boyfriend having sex with another girl. She's used to having all her decisions made for her and she's spent most of her life doing what is expected of her. Now, Whitney has to learn to stand up for herself and make her own decisions. When Cole Pritchett picks her up on the side of a dirt road after she collapses, he finds himself drawn to her and the last thing he needs is getting involved with someone proper like Whitney. He's trying to start over and escape the person he knows he's destined to become - a nobody, with no future and no direction. But when he keeps bumping into Whitney, neither of them are able to ignore their feelings - Cole gives Whitney the freedom she didn't know she craves and Whitney gives Cole the drive to be someone better than who he is. Their relationship is new, exciting and full of lust, which soon turns into something more than they planned - a summer of fun and no-attachment hook ups becomes their Forever. So many readers complain about insta-love but when done right, it works - and Elizabeth lee made it work!! I freakin love Whitney & Cole - a city princess and a backwoods country boy are *PERFECT* together <3 This book gets 5 big Country stars from me because it was fan-fucking-tastic <3     For the buy links, a giveaway and more info about the author, click *here*

*Blog Tour: Undescribable by Shantel Tessier*

Book Synopsis:
Samantha Hall needs a fresh start Broken hearted and alone in a new city, Samantha begins to build a new life for herself while working as a bartender. Focusing on her new friends and rebuilding her broken life, Samantha is content. Until she meets him – attorney by day and a cocky, foul mouth playboy by night. All girls want Slade Long, but not one has ever been able to keep his attention for long. Having a different woman in his bed every night is how he prefers it-no emotion, no connection. Until he meets her - an angel with the sweetest voice he has ever heard and the most enticing green eyes. Samantha makes him second guess his actions and has him wanting something he didn’t know existed. How can a man who has never been in love, be so sure? Can real love happen this fast? Burned by her past, Samantha struggles to keep up with the overwhelming passion she feels for Slade. She knows that he will be nothing but trouble to her already fragile heart, but how long can she continue to deny the love that she feels for him? Will Samantha let Slade prove his love is real, or will she push him away? She thought she knew love…… He thought he never wanted love….. Together they will show each other what they can’t live without.  The Story Samantha Hall moves to St. Louis with her boyfriend and after finding out that he's been cheating on her, she leaves him to start over. She made a new life for herself with new friends and a new outlook on life. The tragic passing of her father and the abandonment by her mother have left her guarded and scared to trust - until she meets Slade Long. She can't deny her attraction to him and despite his infamous track record with women, she still feels drawn to him.  Slade Long is an attorney with a cocky attitude and a penchant for loose women - he doesn't do love or relationships, and thinks he never will - until he meets Samantha in the bathroom at a bar when he's about to 'do' another girl against the wall. The first time he sees her he's taken aback by the raw pull between them and finds himself unable to get enough.  Slade has to learn what it means to be in a relationship, and what it means to put someone else first, while Sam has to learn how to trust Slade and forget about his past.  What I liked The story has potential and there's no denying that it's a hot read. Sam and Slade are both loveable and it's easy to see why you will be rooting for them by the end. You also get to know the supporting characters in the story which proves that there was to a large extent good character development.  What I didn't like  Aside from a few grammatical errors here and there, it was sometimes difficult knowing who's perspective you're reading from - the transition between Slade's thoughts and Sam's thoughts wasn't always smooth. (Perhaps it only appears that way in the ARC and not the final copy). This book is classified as an Erotic Romance but often times the sex scenes would black out, leaving it a little disappointing. I don't often complain about insta-love because if it's done right then it works for the story but in this case it was a little too rushed. Lastly the ending... I don't know if there is a sequel but instead of a cliffy, it just stopped, making it feel incomplete to some extent.  It was all in all a good read if you can look past some of the finer technical elements and the author is off to a great start - I would love to see what she comes up with next and if she will show some growth and improvement in her next novel. If you like love stories about good girls falling fast for bad boys and loads of steam, this book is definitely worth considering :)    *Barnes & Noble*  *Kobo* *Smashwords* *Amazon*        About the Author Shantel is a Texas born girl who now lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her high school sweetheart, and their three year old little princess. *Book Spotlight: An Easy Dare by Rosalie Rousseaux*

Hi Brats :):)

We all know how tough it is to make it as an Indie Author, so today I'm doing a book spotlight for a newbie author, Rosalie Rousseaux, author of An Easy Dare :) This is a hot story set in New Orleans and that alone was enough to intrigue me - In case no one knows, I'm obsessed with the South and this book had me thinking about The Princess & The Frog <3 Take a peak ;)

Cat loved Gabe from the time she was five years old. She thought it would be easy: fall in love with your childhood sweetheart, get married and live happily ever after. But as the years go on, the fairy tale soon falls apart. At twenty, Gabe – penniless, unable to find work, and drinking himself into a bad reputation – leaves New Orleans, believing that Cat is better off without him.
She doesn’t hear from him for three years.
Not until her bachelorette party, when he sends her a $400 bottle of Champagne the night before she’s set to marry Cort Belrose, a wealthy restaurateur that Gabe despises.
It seems the past three years have treated Gabe well. He’s now mysteriously wealthy and the picture of a perfect Southern gentleman – a gentleman who is quietly seeking vengeance on the man who forced him out of the city, took three years of his life, and stole the woman he loved.
With Gabe’s return, the sweltering heat of New Orleans becomes even more stifling as Cat struggles with the truth about her malicious husband and her consuming lifelong love for the vengeful and troubled Gabe

***EXCERPT #1***

This was our place, the park. This was our bench. When we were kids we would stand on it and throw bread crumbs to the ducks. When we were teenagers we exchanged kisses here – secretly at first, then openly because we didn’t care. I dare you to kiss me in front of everyone, he’d say, and I would. It was an easy dare.
In the wayward days after high school, when we had nowhere important to go, we would sit here, under the sweltering heat of the New Orleans sun, and lay against each other until our longing led us to his backseat—an unromantic bed in theory, but a passionate scene in practice. I remember how his sweat felt against my body. I remember how his dark hair glimmered in the afternoon heat. There was nothing about Gabriel Augustine that didn’t burn itself into my memory and linger there, even after he left me.
Especially then.
Things should have been easy. You fall in love with your childhood sweetheart. You give him your first kiss, your heart, your virginity. He loves you back. You get married and live happily ever after. That’s how I thought it would be. But there are other things that make up a real life—things that aren’t in the fairy tale. Things like fathers, expectations, obligations. Families and money and futures. Love gets tucked away somewhere and forgotten. Love is for movies and books. Love is for fairy tales. Instead of happily ever after, your childhood sweetheart loses a job, drinks too much, becomes a victim of his own unhappiness and disappears, thinking you’re better off without him when you know that’s not true. When you know—in your heart—that love could win. Would win if he would just let it. But he doesn’t believe enough. Despite what he said on those mornings when you’d wake up sweaty and tired and euphoric from lovemaking, or on the nights when your face was wet from his kisses and your body breathless from his love, he didn’t believe enough.
And you decide: I don’t believe, either.
Because you have to in order to survive.

***EXCERPT #2***

“A gentleman at the bar had this sent over for the bride-to-be. He sends it with his congratulations,” the waiter said. “He had another message, as well, for the bride.”
The waiter gave me the note. It was a simple business card, folded once. I opened it, not knowing what to expect.
My breath caught in my throat.
Truth or dare? it said, in that unmistakable handwriting—small, almost illegible block letters. I turned the card over. There was no contact information, just a simple embossed name: Gabriel Augustine.
My heart stopped.
It’s amazing how everything can change in one second. Just those few words sent me into a spiral.
My world tilted, shifted and uprooted from under my feet. The bottle of Champagne sat against the waiter’s arm, signifying a million different things, but mostly signifying Gabe. Without thinking of anything—not Delilah, not Cort, not the veil perched on my head—I leapt from my chair, nearly knocking it over, and bolted out the door. The heavy, humid night air enveloped my skin as I frantically looked up and down Girod Street, hoping to see him.
“Gabe!” I called. “Gabe!”
My heart raced. I’d spent more than three years stuffing away all thoughts of him—the way his body pressed against mine, the rough and tender way he kissed me, how he filled every part of me, deeply and passionately, the feel of his large hands as they explored every curve of my body, the way his lips felt against the inside of my thigh; and I’d stuffed away every word he’d said, every I love you, I need you, I want you, every whisper that he couldn’t live without me, every tortured word, especially goodbye—and now it was flooding out of my head, like a cage of birds that had been set free, but didn’t know where to go.
“Gabe!” I called again, but he wasn’t there.

*Blog Tour: Who He Is by S.Q Williams*

Hi Brats :)

The Blog has been pretty quiet lately - I finished off and released my debut novel, Beneath Your Beautiful, while Michelle spent a little down time with her family - but today I am *SUPER* excited that TheSecretBookBrat is a stop on Shanora Williams' 'Who He Is' Blog Tour! :)

Eliza Smith has never been the one to seek a relationship. She’s never dated a guy in her life, never even hugged a man (outside of her father/manager of the hot and popular rock band, FireNine) but when she decides to spend her summer on tour with FireNine, it all changes. Eliza really gets to meet Gage Grendel - her former crush from high school and the lead singer of FireNine - and witness sides to him to which she’ll begin to truly despise.
She’ll ignore him, she’ll dislike his ways, she’ll do anything to try and stay away from him until Gage finally gets her to slip up and give in. She agrees on a casual fling with Gage, but soon they’ll both see how the fling will blur into something they can’t control and when it’s finally time for Eliza to go and accomplish her own dreams, she’ll know there’s more she took from Gage than she ever thought possible
My Review  I'm a HUGE fan of Shanora Williams and when I got the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Who he Is, I grabbed it with both hands and even my teeth. I was not disappointed.  Eliza Smith had a harrowing childhood which has left her emotionally scarred and withdrawn. She doesn't associate much with other people and prefers to keep to herself. She comes across as immature, but in reality it's more naivety from keeping herself shut off from the rest of the world. When she moves in with her father, who happens to be the manager for FireNine, and when he insists that Eliza join the tour for her Summer vacation, the thought of spending all that time with Gage Grendal both excites and frightens her.  Gage Grendal is a jerk -there I said it - but he's seen a lot of hurt and disappointment in his life, which has made it impossible for him to trust anyone. Not that it's an excuse for his dick-ish behaviour. He's charming, cocky and very delicious looking, which makes him a magnet for two things... Girls and trouble... The last thing he was expecting was little Eliza Smith to walk onto his tour bus and make his world implode.  Their relationship starts off very much like a game of cat and mouse, which makes for some very entertaining reading - Eliza doesn't fall for Gage's charm that easily and proves that she has no problem holding her own. Eliza also becomes very close with Gage's band mate, Montana (who is probably the funniest character in this book) which makes Gage jealous - naturally, being a woman, Eliza uses this to her advantage until her feelings for Gage become too much.  Of course, in true Shanora fashion, there is drama but it's complimented by the swoonworthy moments between Gage and Eliza that make it impossible to not fall in love with them and forget their flaws. You'll be screaming at them, throwing your iPad/Kindle across the room, fanning yourself and at the end, you'll forgive them. Shanora showed tremendous growth with this novel and had a tasteful approach to dealing with some pretty daunting topics - child abuse, a homosexual father and infidelity. These things are addressed very well and add to the feelings that the story evokes from the reader. I loved this book and highly recommend it :) Tamsyn    *Amazon* *Goodreads*Excerpt

My head swam as Gage bent down on his knees, pulled me to the edge of the bed, and kissed up my leg, his lips then touching the center of my thigh. He was so close to my entrance that I bucked against him, but he shook his head through the darkness. “Don’t move. Let me,” he growled, placing my feet on his shoulders.
I couldn’t fight it. I lost a bit of the tension and placed the back of my head against the bed, my legs hoisted up by his large shoulders. He started from the bottom of my thigh and kissed his way up. His fingers were hooked on my waist, his head moving up gradually. I was panting, anticipating, wanting to move wildly, and he wasn’t even there yet.
He groaned as his tongue slipped over one thigh before moving to the other. I moaned, squeezing his hand. He was teasing me. I could feel him laughing silently every time I shuddered. His hot tongue slid between my legs and then he pushed them apart completely, leaving me wide open.
“Get ready for me,” he murmured, his warm breath running across my core. “Eliza,” he whispered so faintly I thought I was imagining it. “I don’t want you to lie to me again after tonight.” He kissed the top of my knee, but I frowned, confused. “Don’t tell me we’re ‘just friends’ again. I’m about to show you we aren’t anymore. I don’t wanna be. I want more of you…”
And then, before I could even speak, his tongue leisurely slid across my clit and I gasped. The heat consumed me, warmed me, and he groaned deeply as he sucked and licked. “Taste so good, Sweet Ellie,” he murmured, his mouth still glued between my legs.

*Blog Tour: Twinsequences by Jenn Foor*

Hi Brats :)  The blog tour for Jenn Foor's newest novel, Twinsequences, makes a stop here at TheSecretBookBrat HQ :) This is another fab book to add to your TBR Lists :)    Synopsis I’d shared everything with Ivy since we were born. She was my exact double. We were only two minutes apart. I never thought that my own twin sister would steal away my one chance at happiness, but that is exactly what she’d done. She didn’t even know that I was in love with him. How could she? Ivy was too busy being Miss Popular to notice what I wanted.

After having my heart broken, I’d decided to leave my town, and my sister, to go to college out of state. For the past four years, I’d done nothing but work to make a life for myself. We were still the best of friends, but going home was too hard for me to face and I hadn’t been back since they’d gotten married.

I wanted my sister to be happy, even if it meant I never would be. She didn’t have the brains, or the successful future that I knew was coming to me. But, she’d always have the one thing I wanted. The one thing, I could never have.Stoshua Wheeler.

A late night phone call brought me back to town. I should have never considered her request. It wasn’t right to pretend to be her, but she said she was in trouble. I had to help her.

I’d dreamed of being her for five years. I envied their relationship. I wanted her life.

What was I willing to risk to take it for myself?

I’m Willow Green and this is my story..

My Review  **Spoiler Free**

I'm a huge fan of Jenn Foor & I absolutely love her books - Twinsequences was no different! It's the story about Willow and Ivy, who are twins that couldn't be more opposite - Ivy is the popular cheerleader type while Willow is the smart, quiet type. What surprised me is that they are always trying to hurt each other, and out-do each other at every turn, especially when it comes to Stoshua - the guy Willow fell in love with but got snatched up by Ivy.

There are so many ups and downs throughout this book that will leave you biting your nails in one minute and then wanting to beat the crap out of Willow, Ivy AND Stoshua in the next! It's an emotional rollercoaster but the story (and the writing) are both very engaging! No matter how angry or frustrated you get with the characters, you can't put this book down because you just HAVE TO know what happens next. I loved the continuous conflict between Ivy and Willow, and was repeatedly surprised when Willow always came running when Ivy called.

This book was sexy, and intriguing, filled with drama, revenge, love, hate and tension - Jenn Foor did an amazing job of balancing all those elements. I highly recommend this book :)

*Buy Twinsequences on Amazon*      Excerpt  It was awesome seeing her tied to the bed and struggling to get free. She knew I wasn’t screwing around anymore. I walked over and ran my hands up Stosh’s chest, making sure she was watching. I grabbed the collar to his shirt and pulled him down to meet my lips. I liked that our plan was working. “You like watching his lips on me? Just wait until later. You’re going to get the show of your life!” I took Stosh by the hand and we walked out into the living room. I knew she’d be in there, trapped and sobbing.  After I showered and got myself comfortable, we made sure the house was locked up and went out for a movie. It was important for people to see us getting around together, like nothing had ever happened. We didn’t have to pretend to be in love, I don’t know which one of us was showing it more. Stosh couldn’t keep his hands off of me. I couldn’t stop looking at him.
It all still felt like a dream. I guess when you fantasize about something for as long as I did, it makes the reality of it hard to believe.

After the movie, we headed out to a coffee shop and talked about our future. Did I feel wicked?Maybe a little.

*Blog Tour: No Going Back by Erika Ashby*

Hi Brats :)  Today the blog tour for Erika Ashby's No Going Back makes a stop here at TheSecretBookBrat HQ :)Check out Michelle's 5 star review, read the *SEXY* teaser and enter the giveaway :)     Synopsis: Life isn’t always about fairytales and happily ever-after’s according to Seth Jordan. After having his world shattered and heartbroken beyond repair, he had always sworn off the idea of love. He was perfectly content with continuing his life with worthless one night stands and no strings attached sex. That was until one blue-eyed blonde managed to seep into places he thought were cemented shut.

Like a jack hammer, Mallory Prentice came into Seth’s life and cracked the hard exterior that surrounded his heart. She’s the one woman he was starting to feel might be worth taking a chance on.

But life doesn't always hand you the easy road. Sometimes you are constantly hit with the bad and have no hope of any good ever showing up.

Will Seth and Mallory realize that ultimately they are the ones who are in control of their life’s outcome? Will they embrace the future and fight for their own happiness, or will they keep lingering in past mistakes and let it keep them apart?

Life is all about forgiveness and second chances. Once you come to that conclusion and just go for it, there is…no going back.
 Review by Michelle

I have just had the incredible PLEASURE of reading No Going Back! For those of you not familiar with Erika Ashby, NGB is her follow up book to Moving Forward. You will want to read that one first in order to properly follow NGB. Moving Forward (or MoFo) is the story of Derek and Jesika, two single parents who find each other after a they both go through some life altering changes. Their book is complete with a romantic love story, some VERY steamy “ love” scenes and a whole lot of twists that will keep you on your toes. While I really enjoyed reading their story, the best part of MoFo for me was meeting Derek’s brother, Seth...sigh...
Seth is my newest book boyfriend and might I add...OBSESSION!! I like Derek...like him a lot, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Seth...like really hardcore LOVE! You feeling me here?? Although Seth and Derek are brothers and both in the same band, the similarities stop there. Whereas Derek is sweet, loyal and the all American boy next door...Seth is a tattooed, pierced, doing a different girl every night all around bad boy! In case you all haven’t figured it out yet...I ALWAYS go for the bad boy! The badder the better! I may or may not also be a little obsessed with some of Seth’s “bling”...namely in his um....lower extremities...holy hawtness!!! However, there is also a softer side to Seth...a man who wants a family of his own and a woman to love with his whole heart even though he doesn’t feel he deserves that life. Another thing I really liked about NGB was the female lead, Mallory. I found her to be incredibly refreshing! Mallory is beautiful, tough, loyal to her friends, tells it like it is and is not ashamed to admit she likes sex just as much as any guy. Although Mallory has had a tough life, she doesn’t let it define her. She desperately wants to leave her promiscuous ways behind her and have the family life she has always craved. In the beginning of the story we pick up with a pregnant Mallory and a Seth who doesn’t know she is pregnant and is being manipulated into marriage by his ex whorebag girlfriend...yes, I said whorebag because that is what she IS! Mallory, not being afraid to fight for her man, tries to stop the wedding only to be shot down by Seth who feels Mallory is too good for him. I have to admit there were MANY times during this book where I wanted to kick Seth in the balls...HARD!! His warped sense of thinking drove me CRAZY but I soon embraced his crazy and fell head over heels in love with him! I don’t do spoilers but I will tell you this entire story encompasses A LOT of heartache and bad decisions but is also an incredible love story and has some SERIOUS panty melting sex scenes! This book kept me reeling throughout the entire thing. There were times that my heart literally “hurt” for them...I am talking fist squeezing my heart HURT! The emotion that Erika evokes is gut wrenching and SO SO good! I guarantee you will love this book and can’t NOT fall in love with Seth and Mallory...especially my bad boy rocker, Seth. How can you help loving a man that says things like …  "You’re the ying to my yang. You’re the peanut butter to my jelly. You’re the shoelaces to my shoes. You are my everything. You were made for me. We were made for each other. I want you from now until forever.”  If that doesn’t make you swoon then there has to be something wrong with you! I HIGHLY recommend this book. It is a 5 giant star read for this girl!!!   Happy Reading! ** Michelle **   *Amazon* *Barnes & Noble* *Smashwords*
Teaser      “Seth,” I moan. “I need you in me. I want you in me.” I can’t hide the desperation I have for him at this very moment. I might look weak, but right now I could care less. I don’t care if he knows how vulnerable I truly am. I’m not afraid to show him that side of me. Not now anyways. He’s already seen every side of me, every side that I’ve kept hidden from anyone and everyone.
“Shhh.” He kisses his way up the center of my chest making his way to my neck. “This is what you need Mal. I’m going to show you what I feel for you by making you feel. Let me make you forget, just for tonight. Okay?” he breathes in my ear before parting my panties and pushing his finger inside where I want him most.
“Oh god,” I pant as I arch my head back, pressing it deeper into the pillow. It is as if he’s reenergizing my body between my legs, and he keeps kissing me all over and licking me as if he’s trying to savor the taste of my skin. His other hand finds its way under my head while his lips make their journey back up my body once more. He licks his way up my neck, lifts my head up, and then swipes my parted lips with his tongue before lightly biting on my bottom lip and then sucking it into his mouth. This is the kinky Seth I know, but I have a feeling that’s as rough as he’ll get tonight.
“Open your eyes,” he sweetly demands. “I want to watch you as I make you come. I want to feel your sweet pussy clenching around my fingers while I watch the way I make you feel etch its way across your beautiful face. I want to see what I do to you and afterwards I want to show you what you do to me.”
He thrusts another finger in and I instinctively close my eyes. “Open.”
I open them back up as he takes his thumb and starts working it in circles on my clit. I’m so close I can feel it, but at the same time I’m so consumed with what I see as I stare back into his ocean blue eyes. I can see so many emotions running through them — emotions I’ve never seen before.

Pretending she’s happy, pretending her long-distance crushes add up to something real, pretending she’s not haunted by the dark secret that shattered her world six years ago. Cast in her first Broadway show, she desperately needs to keep her façade intact, but that’s before she comes face to face with her devastating new boss…
Hot-shot director Davis Milo knows the first rule of directing: never fall for your leading lady. Captivated by Jill’s raw talent, he fights his feelings, but watching Jill on-stage with another man is more than his jealous streak can take. Keeping things professional isn’t an option. He wants all of her.
Soon the ingénue and her director are staying late in the empty theatre, their private rehearsals spiraling into new, forbidden territory. Caught up between fiction and reality, Jill struggles to find the truth in all their staged kisses. But how can she be sure that what she feels is real, and not a part of the play? And when two people spend their lives pretending, what happens after the final curtain falls?

EXCERPT:  He glances down at the black pumps. “Nice shoes.”
As I follow his eyes, I realize my hand is on his shirt, my fingers
fisted around the cloth, clutching it. I should let go. But I don’t.
Because I can’t help but notice he has that clean and freshly showered
smell that makes any woman want to lean in and lick a guy’s neck.
Close her eyes. Inhale, and trail a tongue all the way to his
earlobe, enjoying the sound of a low groan.
“Nice shirt,” I say softly, running my index finger across one smooth
button. Then I look up to find him staring down at me. His dark blue
eyes aren’t cold anymore. They’re not keeping me at bay. Instead,
they’re heated, searching mine.
It’s hypnotic the way he looks at me. Completely hypnotic, as the
room goes quiet, the air between us charged.
I press my teeth against my lips, and I think, but I’m not entirely
sure, because thought has vanished, that I nod briefly, almost as if
I’m giving him permission. Then he bends towards me, and my breath
catches. Before I even process rationally what’s happening, his lips
are on mine, and my pulse is racing. It’s a barely there kiss, just
him brushing his soft lips against mine, but I want more. So I pull
him closer and deepen the kiss. He groans, and then suddenly his hands
are in my hair, and he’s twining his fingers through my long, blond
strands, and tugging me close. I thought I was leading this kiss, but
I’m not anymore, because he’s claiming me, tracing his tongue across
my top lip, then nipping at the bottom lip, then kissing me so deeply
and with so much heat that I shudder. That only makes him kiss me
harder, and everything else falls away because this is a kiss I can
feel in every single cell in my body. Deep, and fevered and
possessive.
It makes me feel things I’m not supposed to want.
My heart pounds wildly as he presses closer, so dangerously near to
me that I want him to slam me against him. Let him touch me all over.
His lips own me, his hands want to know me, and I swear I might
combust from this kind of electric contact.
He breaks the kiss and I’m not honestly sure where I am anymore. Or
who I am. I look at him, at Davis, but everything is so hazy right
now, that I don’t know what to say. I don’t think he does either,
because he doesn’t speak for a moment. He shakes his head, and
swallows, collecting himself. As if he doesn’t know how that happened
either.
“I’m sorry,” he says, then steps back, pushing his hand roughly
through his hair. He looks away from me, staring at some distant point
on the wall. “That was a mistake,” he says quietly.

My Review Well I just finished Choices last night and all I can say is I now know exactly how a yo yofeels! I don’t think I have ever encountered such a back and forth love triangle in all my years of reading. Seriously, it was crazy and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering WHO she was going to choose right up until the very end! Choices is the story of Quincy (Quince), a girl who has recently moved away from home to attend college and to escape her troubled home life. While Quince has loving and supporting parents, she also has a sister with bipolar disorder who makes her family life difficult... to put it mildly. Moving away to go to college with her best friend, Jenna, is her chance to live a normal life free of drama and angst...or so she thinks! Enter Brody and Declan! Quince meets them both the night she attends her first college frat party. She is instantly taken with both men. However, both boys appeal to Quince but in very different ways. Declan is the sweet, hot, boy next door that makes her feel safe, comfortable and he is an amazing friend to her .He is a constant in her life and is there every time she needs him. Declan also puts his feelings all out there to Quince and waits patiently to see if she will reciprocate those feelings...a little too patiently if you ask me...bless his heart!! “The touch of his lips against mine doesn’t take my breath away, but it whispers of promise commitment, and unfailing love.” Brody...what can I say about Brody except that he is your typical brooding, insanely hot, panty melting, big time player bad boy! You know how I feel about bad boys?!? The connection between Quince and Brody is electrifying but she is afraid to commit to him because of his reputation and his hot and cold attitude. However, these two can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other no matter where they are or who they are with. “Everything is so intense with Brody. My feelings, good and bad, are amplified when I am with him. He makes me feel beautiful. He makes me feel crazy. But most terrifyingly, he just makes me feel.” The entire book is about Quince trying to make her decision as to which boy to choose. While going through all of this she is also dealing with her sister, who she loves very much, but has to constantly have her guard up with. There is a lot of heartache and you will probably need a box of tissues. I don’t do spoilers so I won’t tell you who she chooses, but I will tell you that I feel the right choice was made in the end :) “It’s about the choices you make. If you hold on long enough, have enough faith, all things are possible.” This was a 3.5 star read for this girl and I would definitely recommend it if you like a good coming of age story with a love triangle!     Happy Reading! **Michelle**  Excerpt  “I could stay here forever if you always looked at me just like that.” I don’t understand what he means, but I can’t take my eyes off him. “Everything.” His voice deepens while he looks into my eyes. “I like everything about you, Quince. I like the way those little wisps of hair frame your face. I love your eyes, so deep I get lost i...n them. Those lips I can’t resist. But I like you, Quince. The first time I saw you, I was drawn to you. I knew right then that you would turn my world upside down. It scared the hell out of me, but I knew I’d follow you anywhere.” He just made me feel beautiful, really beautiful, for the first time in my life.
There are no words for that. Instead, I wrap my arms around his neck and roughly kiss him. I twist my fingers in his hair and wonder why I haven’t done that before. Besides his eyes, his hair is the sexiest thing about him. But it’s what he hides on the inside that I so desperately want to see.   Amazon / Barnes& Noble

*Blog Tour: Emerge by S.E Hall*

Hi Brats :)

Michelle here :) Today the blog tour for S.E Hall's debut novel, Emerge, makes a stop here at TheSecretBookBrat :) Make sure you check this one out and read my 5 star review :)

Synopsis:

Laney Walker is a quick witted, athletic, southern tomboy who lets few get too close, using her sarcastic zingers to deflect. She also has no idea how others view her, Evan having protected and coveted her since they were children. But college puts a gap between Laney and Evan that neither of them were prepared for- old relationships are tested, new ones are formed and nothing will ever be the same.

Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.

A story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

Have you ever read a book that left you in such a state at the end that you literally didn’t know what to do with yourself? I am talking sobbing, laying on the floor in the foetalposition while rocking and moaning NOT know what to do with yourself! Well that wasEmerge for me and let me tell you folks..it wasn’t pretty!! I am in such a tizzy that Ipretty much have no words so I am going to rely mostly on quotes and pictures to get mypoints across. The wounds are still fresh and raw so I am ripping the bandages off anddiving back in...ok,.here goes...

The story starts with a 10 year old Laney Jo Walker and the new boy, Evan Allen...

“Say, Evan, you know how to bait your own hook, right?” This is the start of a lifelong friendship and before you know it Evan and Laney are allgrown up

“I simply can’t resist the charms that are so completelyEvan; those flirty blue eyes, framed by dark, thick lashes, and his crooked little grin as he spouts off those pet names would test any girl’s resolve.”

Next thing you know this is happening...
“Not anymore, I’m done with that, and I’m done with notkissing you. All you have to do is say no, precious girl. But please, please...just say yes”
and this... “Can we pretend you’re really mine, just mine, EvanMitchell Allen’s, at least for tonight?”
Unfortunately Laney and Evan aren’t able to attend the same college so the “break up”because Laney doesn’t want temptation and mistakes to ruin their friendship. So off
Laney heads to...

“It’s nothing but space, Laney,” he says dropping a kisson my forehead. “It means nothing, I’m still yours. I’ll always be yours.”   He has no clue what is coming...bless his heart! 23% in and enter one Dane “I Will Melt thePanties Right Off Your Body” Kendrick...

“Dane turns to us, and GOOD LORD...I hope their parents arebreeding professionally because they’d make a fortune! If big brotheris hot, then little brother is illegal, immortal, and too damn pretty not to be a girl. This guy seriously belongs on the cover of World’s Sexiest Reason to Drop Your Panties.”

Unfortunately along with Dane comes an annoying “parakeet” named Whitley...
however, Laney can handle this one!

Before long Dane is calling Laney
while Evan is at college being a HUGE
doing shots off of girls’ boobies!
We are STILL dealing with the nasty Whitley and I am thinking..

At 58% I am SWOONING at this...

“Last chance, Disney. Once I get a taste, I’m coming after you with everything I’ve got.”
and I am like...

Happy 19th Birthday Laney at 63% and what does Dane get her...

That’s right people...a trip to freakin Disney World!!“Walt himself would have been proud to base a Prince on Dane.”  At 66% we find out that Laney’s BFF, Kaitlyn, is really a BFW...BEST FRIEND WHORE!!

Next thing you know I am 71% in and sobbing for my poor sweet Evan...
“My sweet, sweet Evan. This boy, not so long ago, represented all that was good in my life, all that I could ever want. Now I’m ripping his heart out.”  Luckily she has Dane to turn to and there is a whole lot of drama in between but none of it matters cause at 78% it is getting HAWT up in here and I am like...    “Baby, you can plan our dates, tell me what to wear, run the radio,” I wink, “you can even name our kids one day...after Disney characters even. But in the bedroom, the hot tub, against the wall or basically anywhere I have you naked and wet...let me lead.”  SAWOOOON!!!!  Happy ending you would think? But, no, Evan hasn’t given up.  He shows up at her door and all I can think is...

What happens next leaves me looking like this...

And a day later I am STILL like this...     Well there you have it...I am an emotional wreck but I LOVED every amazing minute of it! I need book 2...NOW!! If you can’t tell by now, I give this book 5 giant freaking amazing stars!!!
