FOUR WILDE BROTHERS…ONE WILDE COUNTRY BAND
WILDE RIDERS is the first novel in a spicy new contemporary romance series about four sexy brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band. WILDE RIDERS can be read as a STAND ALONE NOVEL or as part of the SERIES.
Cooper Wilde spent his entire adolescence counting the days until he could escape rural northwest New Jersey. Now at 26, he can’t believe he’s coming back. But his late father’s bar, Haymakers, is in financial trouble and his older brother, Jake, has asked for Cooper’s help.
Riley Smith, 25, is fresh out of her Ivy League MBA program and wants to make an impression on her employer, H & C Bank. Her first solo assignment is a fraud investigation on a business loan they made to Haymakers.
Even though Old Town is less than 90 minutes from New York City, Riley feels like she’s stepped into another world in this remote, one-bar town. Riley can’t wait to do her business and get back to the city as quickly as her sports car will take her…until she meets Cooper Wilde. He’s not like the other guys in this rural town and Riley feels inexplicably attracted to him.

Excerpt-
The drive into New Jersey is exhausting. My only saving grace is that most of the traffic is going into the city instead of out of the city like I am. You’ve got to love those bridge and tunnel guys. I wouldn’t date one but I have a little bit of respect for them. The commute into Manhattan turns a nine hour work day into an eleven hour one, if you’re lucky. I can feel my stomach start to knot as I get further away from the city and further away from civilization. Pretty soon I’ll be in the sticks surrounded by woods and farmland. I can almost smell the manure that will no doubt take days to completely rid from my nasal passages. I pray that I don’t run into any animals, especially cows, which are huge, smelly and completely freak me out. The only live animals I ever care to see have to fit comfortably in a handbag, like a Chihuahua or Teacup Poodle, for example.
I have an appointment with a man named Jake Wilde. He asked me to come early, before the place opens at noon, so he could give me his full attention. I try to imagine what someone named Jake Wilde would look like and all I can come up with is an old gunslinger like Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven.
As I pull into Old Town the place looks exactly like I thought it would. The buildings in the town square are old and I image the place hasn’t changed much in the last hundred years or so.
Haymakers is just past the town square, down the hill from the deli, next to the gas station. Those were the exact directions I was given, in those words. I take that to mean the town only has one gas station and one deli.
When I pull into the parking lot, there’s only one other vehicle sitting there. It’s an old beat-up Dodge Ram. Nothing like fitting the country bumpkin stereotype like a glove. I have a brief moment of panic and wonder if it’s safe to park my BMW in the dirt lot. Then I remind myself where I am. Who is going to mess with it in the middle of the day? A stray deer from the woods out back? The only thing I probably have to worry about is it getting dusty.
I take in a deep breath. I have to be thankful there’s no manure smell yet. The quicker you do this, I remind myself, the quicker you can get back to the lovely asphalt jungle you call home.
I’m hit with a gust of wind as soon as I get out of my car. How is it possible that Old Town is even windier than lower Manhattan? I didn’t think I’d ever find a place windier than Wall Street. Even the Windy City didn’t seem this windy when I had business in Chicago.
When I enter the bar, I try to smooth down my thick hair, which I know is probably a complete mess from the gust. I’m surprised by the homey feel of the place. How could someone like me possibly feel at home in a country bar? Even if I was wearing jeans and cowboy boots, if I even owned jeans and cowboy boots, I wouldn’t fit in at a place like this.
I hear someone clear his throat and I turn to see a guy about my age, mid-twenties, standing next to me. I can’t help my surprise when I see he’s wearing khakis and a polo shirt, like he just stepped off of a golf course. He looks as out of place in this country bar as I feel.
“Are you Jake Wilde?” I ask.
The guy gives me the faintest hint of a smile but it’s almost as if it pains him to give that much. His deep brown eyes look even more distressed and I can’t help but wonder what’s behind those sad eyes.
He rakes his fingers through his thick dark hair. “A little windy out, isn’t it?”
My hand automatically goes to my hair and I try to casually flatten it down again. I imagine I must look like I just stepped out of a wind tunnel.
“Your hair looks fine,” the guy tries to assure me. But he’s got that hint of a smile on his face again and it makes me wonder if he’s lying just to make me feel better.
“I’m Cooper Wilde,” the guy says as he offers a hand.
I don’t know why I suddenly feel nervous about shaking it. It’s a business meeting. That’s what people do. But the way this guy is looking at me gives me the feeling that he might be interested in more than just business.
But I’m not, I remind myself. Not only because I’ve all but sworn off men, I’m here to do a job. I’ve been working for H & C Bank for two years and this is my first solo assignment as a lead investigator. If I continue to do well, I’ll be well on my way to becoming a Vice President before I turn thirty. I don’t need a man to throw me off my career trajectory. And definitely not some guy in a country bar in rural New Jersey.
I take his hand and give it a quick shake but I can’t bring my-self to look into his smoldering eyes again. “I’m Riley Smith.”
“I figured that,” Cooper says.
“Why is that?”
That hint of a smile has returned to his face again. “We don’t often get women in business suits in the bar.”
I’m not sure why I’m suddenly overcome with the urge to get a real smile out of Cooper Wilde. I don’t know even know the guy but it somehow seems important. I get the feeling he hasn’t really smiled in a while and it’s long overdue.
Not that I’ve had much occasion for real smiles myself lately.
“My brother will be here in a minute or two. He’s just printing a few documents from the computer. Purchase orders and receipts.”
I nod and look around the place. From the outside, I thought it was going to be a dive but the place actually has character. I can tell the wooden bar is old, and it looks hand carved, as do the barstools. There’s a large stage area that looks new. That’s one of the expenses I was charged with investigating. I try to image what the place looks like filled with patrons watching a local band play on a Friday night.
“Ms. Smith?” I hear a deeper male voice say.
I look up to see another guy approaching. He also looks around my age, mid-twenties, but he looks more like what I’d expect inside a country bar. He’s wearing a white button down shirt with jeans and cowboy boots. His hair is lighter than Cooper’s and his face is rounder, more boyish, but there’s definitely a family resemblance between these two guys. They’re both about the same height, around six feet, with athletic builds, like they play sports.
“I’m Jake Wilde,” the lighter haired guy says.
I try not to laugh as I look at Jake. He’s young, attractive and nothing like Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. So much for my speculation about his name.
I notice Jake has papers in his hands. “Maybe we should have a seat at one of the tables.” He motions to a table closest to us.
“Would you like something to drink?” he asks. Jake has one thing that Cooper doesn’t. An absolutely killer smile. It’s the kind of smile that can probably get any girl into bed in a matter of minutes. Well, any girl except me. I no longer fall for guys with smiles like that. It hurts too much the next morning when they say they’ll call you, and give you that smile, and you know they’re lying and you’ll never hear from them again.
“I’ll take some water,” I reply.
Jake actually winks at me before he turns to head towards the bar. The guy knows how to charm people I’ll give him credit for that.
I notice Cooper now has the papers in his hand. Without saying anything, he sits down and I follow.
“I think this is everything you’ll need as far as the fraud investigation is concerned. We’ve got purchase orders for all of the improvements as well as receipts for the completed work. You’re sitting at one of the new tables right now. And you can see the new stage from here. I’d be happy to take you up to the new roof, if you’d like to see it.”
Cooper pushes the stack of papers toward me. I quickly thumb through them. I’ll make a few phone calls when I get back into the city to verify everything and cover my butt. At first glance, though, everything looks clean. It doesn’t seem like a case of fraud, more likely poor bookkeeping.
“The loan hasn’t been paid in months,” I say even though that’s not really my department. I’m here only for the fraud investigation. They’ll be dealing with someone else regarding the default on the loan.
“I know,” Cooper says, and I can see more darkness over-shadow his already dark eyes. “I’m going to try and fix that.”
Jake comes back with three bottles of water. “Bottle okay or would you like a glass?” he asks.
“Bottle is fine,” I say.
Jake sets the bottles down on the table and takes the seat right next to me. I’m a little taken aback by how much space he commands. And not just because of his size. It’s his energy—his being—that’s so large.
“So what did I miss?” Jake asks.
Cooper eyes his brother and I can see there’s a little bit of animosity between them. Or at least there is on Cooper’s part. Jake seems kind of oblivious to it.
Cooper rubs his temple and says, “I was just telling Miss Smith that we’re willing to cooperate with her investigation in any way we can. I’ve given her all of the documents she’ll need.”
“Great,” Jake says. He gives me another one of his charming smiles then looks at me like he’s undressing me with his eyes.
I reflexively pull my suit jacket tighter even though I’m revealing nothing. I’m wearing a conservative button-down banker’s suit but I still feel like Jake can see through it somehow.
“I’ll look at the papers more closely when I get back to the city. I assume these are copies I can take with me?”
“Of course,” Cooper replies. The guy is all business. It’s in sharp contrast to his brother who seems more like a non-stop-party kind of guy.
“Did you decide if you want to see the roof?” Cooper asks.
When Jake laughs, Cooper glares at him.
“What?” Jake says. “If that’s supposed to be a pick up line, you’ve got a lot of work to do.”
“It’s not a pick-up line,” Cooper says through clenched teeth.
Still grinning, Jake asks, “You’re really going to show her the roof?”
“It’s not necessary,” I state. The last place I want to be is in the middle of these two guys’ drama. There’s obviously a lot more going on than just showing me the roof.
Jake leans close to me and I catch a whiff of his cologne. It’s a spicy and masculine. “Why don’t you let me show you the new stage we had built?”
I can feel the heat radiating from his muscular body and I’m quickly reminded by my body’s reaction that I haven’t had sex in over six months.
I gulp. “That’s not necessary.”
I can feel several beads of sweat roll down my forehead. I’m getting hot, and it’s not because of the temperature of the room has changed. It’s Jake’s closeness to me.
I jump from my chair. “I have everything I need.” I feel like waving the papers in front of my face like a fan but I refrain. I just need to get out of the bar and away from Jake. Then I’ll be fine.
That’s what I tell myself anyway.
Cooper rises from the table and gives me an odd look. I wish I could figure out what it would take to make the guy smile but I can’t stay next to Jake a minute longer. He’s like catnip and I’m the cat. I need to escape and get some fresh air.
“Thank you both for your cooperation,” I say.
“You’ll let us know if you need anything else?” Cooper asks.
“I will. It was a pleasure meeting you.” I put out my hand for Cooper to shake.
This time, when he touches me, I make a point of looking into his eyes. They seem to have gotten even darker and deeper in just the last few minutes and that makes me even more curious about him.
Business, I remind myself. You’re here for business and then it’s back to the city.
“It was nice meeting you, too,” Cooper says and once again, he only gives me the hint of a smile.
When Jake clears his throat, it breaks the moment between me and Cooper. I’m embarrassed that I lost control. I’m supposed to be a professional.
I noticed Jake has his hand out and I realize he wants me to shake it. The last thing I want is to do is touch Jake. I don’t want to get caught up in his charismatic web like a fly.
I give him a ridiculous wave instead and I feel like an idiot when he frowns.
“I’d better get going,” I say as I turn and make my way toward the door.
When I look back at the two brothers, they’re both staring at me. I don’t know why that makes me so nervous. I don’t plan on ever seeing either one of them again.
When I’m finally outside, I take in a deep breath of what I think will be fresh air and instead, I’m assaulted by the small of cow manure.
Great. Just great.
I hop into my car and turn the air conditioning up as high as it will go. I take in another deep breath and try to get the stench of cow dung out of my nasal passages. I can’t believe I’m shaking. I’m not sure if it’s because of Cooper or Jake. Maybe it’s a little of both. But I’m definitely rattled.
I just need to get out of Old Town and get back to the city, I tell myself. Then things will get back to normal.
As I put the car into reverse and begin to pull out of my parking space, I keep thinking: I just need to get out of here and get back to the city.
When I step on the accelerator to go forward, I drive right into an old Chevy pick-up truck that’s headed straight for me.

I AM IMPATIENT
The worst. Ever.
People who have to deal with me on a daily basis know this to be true. Mostly, it annoys them. Sometimes, it annoys me. Like right now.
For most of you who read my books, you know that Done With Love is in the final stages of Just. Hit. Publish. So, you’re probably as impatient as I am. I just want you to know, it’s coming. By the end of April. Mark your calendars. I’d like it in your hands on April 30. I’m cool like that.
I’d brag about who’s on the cover, but if you subscribe to my newsletter, my blog, follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you already know that fitness model Colin Wayne is bringing sexy back to covers all over the world. And he’s on the cover of Done With Love. So. Excited. I’m sure (if you know who he is) that you are, too. See? Isn’t he fabulous?
As I’m finishing up Done With Love, I realize I need to get serious about plotting What’s Love??? #3. I mostly have my ideas together – bring on the note cards and double-shot lattes! And, of course Roxanna will get into all sorts of trouble, because that’s just how she rolls.
For those of you who read the What’s Love??? series, do you have any requests? Would you like to see her jump out of an airplane tandem with a hot guy? (I don’t know if my nerves can handle that) Or maybe you’d like her to get arrested after being drunk and disorderly at her ex’s nightclub. I dunno, I’m always up for requests.
I’m contemplating her match in a hero. Mostly because I need to get it just right. Anyone who’s read the series knows that Roxanna doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters, she believes in love-for-right now. She blames it on her parents’ divorce. As a product of divorce myself, I get it. But, everyone deserves their happy ending, especially Roxanna. I *lush* her.
Here’s a little snippet from Done With Love. Enjoy!
He and I were like an old song, I supposed. Even when the radio no longer played it, I could still hear the tune, I could still sing every word—it had been my favorite song for so long. ~ Lexie
Once upon a time…
Bridal boutique owner, Alexis Gorecki, used to believe in happily-ever-afters—until prince charming turned into a toad.
Months after being blindsided by her own horrific wedding scandal, Lexie is desperately trying to keep her boutique afloat in the wake of all the bad publicity. Waging war against her evil almost-in-laws—the people who will stop at nothing to ruin her reputation—sounded much better in her head. Lexie’s strawberries and cream personality really isn’t cut out for taser guns and blackmail.
To complicate matters, Lexie’s first love is back in town with his sexy green eyes and out-of-control abs. He already broke her heart once before, the beast. Leo Moss has always been her weakness and he’s made it perfectly clear what he wants. Can he convince Lexie she’s not done with love just yet?
~~ Excerpt ~~
“Damn it, Lex, you keep pushing me away and it’s pissing me off.” He ran his hands through his hair. “I’m not going to fight over you with some guy who’s already gone.”
“Me pushing you away has nothing to do with Jeremy,” I said and crossed my arms. What I didn’t say was that it had everything to do with Leo, with our past, with me not wanting to get my heart broken again. Why couldn’t he understand that? Why couldn’t he read my mind and know all the questions I had about why he’d broken up with me the way he had, and why he was suddenly here, again, in my life, torturing me with feelings I didn’t want to have. Feelings that scared the hell out of me?
His face lowered, and suddenly his lips were near my ear lobe. I sucked in a breath. “Did he make you feel like this?” he whispered, and then his lips pressed softly against the sensitive skin of my neck. “Or this?” His lips captured my earlobe, a flicker of wet heat, and then it was gone, replaced by a draft of cold air seeping through the crack under the door. “Or this.”
His lips captured mine and stars exploded behind my closed eyes. Everything was warm, my entire body weightless and fuzzy. The kiss was slow; the heat of it felt all the way down to my toes. His tongue slid against mine in a silken kiss of passion that erupted inside of me.

Quickie Fun – Interview with author Ruthie Henrick
Presented by:
Niecey: Hey, Ruthie! Thanks so much for visiting my blog for an interview and a playlist for your new release,
Twice in a Lifetime! I’d love to ask you a few questions, if you don’t mind
First, do you have a favorite writing spot?
I have a few places I especially love to write—at the desk in my office, in a cozy, overstuffed leather chair in a corner of my bedroom, on the back patio when the weather’s nice—but I guess my favorite writing spot is wherever I am when I’m writing!
Do you have any writing habits, like wearing headphones or write at certain times of the day?
No matter how early I set my alarm, my characters tend to wake me up in the morning. It’s not a habit yet, but it’s a great way to start the day when I can get in a couple of hours of writing before I have to get ready for work.
If you could go anywhere to write for a creative writing retreat, where would it be?
Haha, trick question! My first reaction would be to say the beach, because I love the beach. But it would probably be too distracting—it’s the greatest place to people watch! Since I tend to like/need quiet when I write, maybe a cabin in the mountains. Not a rustic cabin, mind you—something more like a resort. With room service.
Now for what I call my Quickie Questions
1. Strawberry or vanilla? Strawberry
2. Walk or bicycle? Walk
3. Pink or purple? Pink
4. Dessert or Breakfast? Breakfast
5. Superhero power of flying or reading minds? Reading minds
Now that I’ve done my nosey thing, would you mind sharing the playlist for Twice in a Lifetime?
I mentioned that I write in quiet, but that’s about the only time I don’t have music playing. I don’t have a playlist for the book, but how about a peek at the most recently played songs on my iPod?

Excerpt 1
“You want me.” He withdrew his fingers, the memory of her still warm on them. Testing, his lips brushed hers with the force of butterfly wings. Just let them skim, soft and querying before drawing back, her soft scent surrounding him.
Excerpt 2
“I need you, Allie. I need to be with you. I need to come home to you at the end of the day. To share my life with you, and to share yours. To sleep with you at night, and wake with you in the morning. And I think you need me too.”
Excerpt 3
“Thank you for last night, Jake.”
He drew his eyebrows together in confusion, tightened his fingers around hers and drew her to a halt. “You waiting for me to say you’re welcome, Allie? Because thank you doesn’t begin to cover how I feel about last night.”
Excerpt 4
His hands forged a path down her rib cage, her abdomen tightening with a quick intake of breath as his thumbs grazed the sides of lace-covered breasts. The mewl of satisfaction that escaped on her gasp had his erection throbbing. His breaths came in harsh gasps. He dropped to his knees. His work-roughened palms rasped against the satiny skin of her hips as he tugged open the snap of her jeans and lowered the zipper. “Jesus, Allie, did you paint these on? Help me out here.” With a laugh she wriggled until he had the curve-hugging denim down and off.
Lust threatened to consume him as he uncovered her silky limbs and left her standing in nothing but mind-altering scraps of pink silk. She palmed his head, her fingers tickling through his hair and across his scalp as his hands explored the firmness of her toned runner’s thighs, roamed her trim hips and kneaded the lush globes of her ass. Jesus, she was…perfect. Better than anything good and soft he could ever imagine. He dragged open– mouth kisses over the front of her panties and was rewarded when she drew in a ragged shudder. His heart raced in his chest.
More. He needed more and he needed it now. Needed to bury himself –. Ah, fuck! Abruptly, he tightened his arms around her thighs and dropped his forehead to her belly. “Shit.”
Her hands held him close. “Not the reaction I was looking for, Jake.”

Hi there! I’m Ruthie Henrick, and I’m an Arizona girl. I write romantic women’s fiction and contemporary romance.
I’ve always been an avid reader, even as a child. I’ll read just about anything, but I love anything with romance in it. I am a romance junkie.
I first started writing a couple of years ago. I’ve never been that person who dreamed about being an author or loved telling stories. I used to try making up bedtime stories when my kids were little and I’d draw a blank every time. But an idea had been running through my mind for a while so I decided to start typing and see where it led. Three months later I had a really good first draft. Let me tell you, nobody was more surprised than me!
I love music, especially country music, and that’s generally the soundtrack to whatever I have going on. At work, doing housework, in the car—the music is always on. Except when I write—that I have to do in silence.
We have three sons and they’re all grown and scattered around the country, but the Big Kahuna and I are still ruled by a fifteen-year-old deaf Pekinese with OCD. Life is interesting!
I’m not much of a TV watcher, except for shows like The Voice and American Idol. Gives me lots of time to write, and read. Like many of you, I have a one-click compulsion. The number of unread books on my Kindle is really embarrassing.
I love chatting with other readers, sharing my favorite books and authors, and discovering those new to me. Come by and hang out with me on any of my social media.

Love on Loch Ness by Aubrie Dionne ~ Spotlight

Love on Loch Ness
By- Aubrie Dionne
Genre- Paranormal Romance
Dr. Gail Phillips steps onto the shores of Loch Ness to disprove the Loch Ness monster theory for good so everyone can stop wasting their time. As a marine biologist with a background in archeology, she’s convinced all of the world’s myths such as Big Foot, the Tasmanian devil, and even Nessie are lies. Her father disappeared while following Yettie tracks in the Alps, and she doesn’t want to lose another mislead soul.
Flynn Maloney comes from a family of fanatic cryptozoologists. As a native of Scotland, he believes in Nessie as strong as Gail believes in science. Despite his initial attraction for her, he’s joined her research team to prove her wrong. He wants to find Nessie for a special girl in his life, to show her dreams really can come true.
As they conduct sonar studies and sweeps of the lake, their differing opinions are at odds with their budding attraction. Gail doesn’t believe in anything unscientific, such as romance, thinking the charming Flynn Maloney is full of baloney. Flynn can’t believe he’s falling for someone with no imagination or faith. To make matters worse, their videographer is covering his true identity. Together they must unravel his plan before he destroys everything they are working for. Will Gail force Flynn to question his faith, or will she discover more than she bargained for in the Scottish highlands?

Author Bio:
Casse Narome is the alter-ego of an awesome woman who started writing her first book in 2001 when she was 18 years old and had to take a bus a hour to work and a hour home each day. Although she loved the story she admits that it was very “self-indulgent.” She actually admits that it is possible that all her stories are but only because she only writes the stories she wants to read at the time. She doesn’t follow fads or writing trends she is just a paranormal, young adult/new adult kinda girl to the heart! She is also goofy and loves comedy so expect that from her and in all of her books.
Casse Narome is an Air Force brat so she has picked up the odd behavior of never staying in the same place for too long. She is quite the nomad. She is never serious, has been accused of wishing her life was a sitcom laugh track and all, she loves to laugh and occasionally snorts while laughing but it’s fine “dudes find that shit sexy, right?” Casse is also very introverted, has a bad habit of talking out loud to herself and she is fine with being a little insane.
You will find her on Twitter way too much being very random and spewing her opinions. When you see her online, tell her to get back to writing!

Oooohhhh…Book Trailer Reveal for Fall from Grace by Ron C. Nieto
Presented by:
Author: Ron C. Nieto
Genre: Urban Fantasy / Paranormal
Audience: New Adult / Adult
Formats: E-book
Publisher: Ron C. Nieto
Cover By: Kris Wagner
Editor: EFC Services
Pages: 310
Expected Date of Publishing: Fall 2014
People believe the world will go out with a bang. People expect it to be crushed under ever-rising waves, to burn in an inferno of all-encompassing flame, to be torn asunder by the same forces that created it.
No one ever thought it would be as gentle as a door sliding open. No one suspected the beginning of the end would go unnoticed.
Yesterday, Lee led a normal life. Today he is alone, lost and unable to remember anything but the pain.
Henry remembers too much. He holds recollections of what was, what should have been, what will remain forever lost.
They both want to save the world.
Together, they might destroy it.
Excerpt 1:
It’s ironic, how worried I am about falling to my death when it’ll find me one way or the other.
It’s also disturbing, this second-guessing that comes with cold, intangible fingers sliding down my spine and a taste of fear. I made my choice and I will go through with it.
I keep climbing, and the white-knuckled hold I have on the railing is the only show of weakness I allow myself. It takes us a few minutes to reach the relative safety of the concrete rooftop, and I put them to good use, schooling my features and body language to resemble a blank slate: an emotionless mask just like Edmund’s.
I certainly hope my efforts are successful enough to hide my astonishment when I see the crowd waiting for us.
Well. Go figure. Five years of preparation and Edmund didn’t think to mention the audience once in all that time. He told me this wouldn’t be a private affair and that six of his brethren would perform the ritual with him, but the couple dozen people milling about and having no apparent role whatsoever are a surprise. A rather unpleasant one, if I’m honest. They look like sharks, sleek and elegant in their suits. Their polite smiles will turn razor sharp the moment they catch a whiff of weakness. If I were any other person, I would take them for lawyers, CEOs or some other species of corporate predator, but I’m unfortunate enough to know better.
Sometimes I swear the only value of truth is to make a task more difficult. A meeting of high-ranking executives who hold age, experience and planning over my head I can handle. A gathering of curious, somewhat amused demons gets under my skin.
Excerpt 2:
The would-be mugger takes a step back. He’s young, yet he’s only a hollow husk trapping a soul that burned out too soon. He holds a switchblade in his right hand, and he seems to have forgotten all about it. His fingers twitch like the whiskers of a cornered rat.
Rat it is, then.
“Don’t mess with me! Hand it over and I won’t hurt you,” says Rat.
“Won’t hurt me,” he repeats, straightening up. He had collapsed against the brick wall of a narrow alley and a hitch on his side protests the movement. The body obeys nonetheless. “Do you believe you could?”
“The fuck? I swear, I’ll kill you!” Rat isn’t entirely empty after all. There are remnants of a soul in there, enough to need, to crave. The dark tendrils consume his human mind and blind him. He doesn’t even understand he’s no longer in charge.
He laughs again. “God didn’t kill me. You won’t, either.”

My idea of a Romantic Destination…
I have so many ideas of what a great romantic destination would be, and it’s really hard to choose one! But, if it came down to making one choice, I’d choose Rome, Italy.
I could fall in love all over and over again in this city. Window browsing hand in hand with my husband, stopping at a street cafe for lunch, dining on a terrace on a summer’s night…
Italy has always been on the top of my To Visit list. Someday, we’ll make the trip. For now, I’ll enjoy scrolling through photographs.
What about you? Where is your top romantic destination???

Interview with Patricia D. Eddy, author of By the Fates, Fought
Presented by:
Quickie Fun interview with Patricia D. Eddy
Patricia, thank you for stopping by my blog today to answer a few questions. I’m so excited to have you! It’s always fun to pick an author’s brain. So, let’s get started.
My first question is…what’s your Top 5 Favorite Foods???
Really??? Oh my. This is hard. In a previous life, I actually had a moderately successful food blog. There’s very little I *don’t* like. But let’s see what I can do here.
1. Coffee (yes, this is important enough to be classified as a food)
2. Avocados
3. Bacon
4. Salumi (good quality cured meats, organic)
5. Local Seattle salmon
Well, I agree with your first one 100% haha!!! And I love all your other choices. I’ve never had “salumi” before, but sounds amazing. And, who doesn’t like salmon??? Especially local caught. Yum! Unfortunately, I live in Nebraska, so “fresh” seafood is hard to come by and expensive. But if you want a good, hearty steak, Nebraska is the place to get one, for sure!
And now for some quickies…
Chocolate or potato chips?
Chocolate covered potato chips! Salty and sweet combined-WIN!
Mt. Dew or Pepsi?
Neither. I’m a coffee woman.
Pizza or Pasta?
Pizza. But only thin crust.
Wings or Ribs?
Ribs from Rutherford Grill in Napa or Wings from Pok Pok in Portland.
I too prefer coffee over pop (soda, whatever you call it in your neck of the woods). Now, if you could hop on a plane to take you anywhere to dine, what country would you go to?
Italy! I’m actually answering these interview questions from Sorrento, Italy where I’m researching the next In Blood book.
Italy!!! So jealous!!! It’s on my dream vacation destination list. I hope you’re posting pictures somewhere??? (off to stalk you on FB to see if there’s any there, haha!!!)
Obviously, I wrote these questions while I was starving… haha!!! Love your answers. It was so fun having you on my blog for a Quickie Fun Interview
Well, I’ve definitely had fun answering them. And now I’m hungry too! Thanks so much for the opportunity to visit your lovely blog.

Goodreads / Amazon
Excerpt-
The chill surrounded us. Even now, after six months, it shocked me. But Raven’s arms were tight and warm around me. When we emerged, the sun was kissing the horizon. I blinked against the brilliant orange light. We were standing on a small strip of sand next to the sea. Rose petals covered the beach and lanterns were arranged in a large circle, inside of which stood those we considered our family. Ami and Seònaid. Moire and Ian. Marcas and Una. Even Faolan was there. I turned towards Raven with questions in my eyes.
Color flooded his dusky, chiseled cheeks and the gentle breezes ruffled his black hair. He had let it grow these past months and it nearly brushed his shoulders now. “I wanted to do something for you, allera. Something special to mark this day. Our customs say that Ostara, the spring equinox, marks the day that light wins over the darkness. You are my light, Ealasaid.”
“And you are mine,” I managed. The lump in my throat threatened to choke me. “There was no light for me before you. But you have already given me everything. I have no need of anything else.”
Raven smiled. “Perhaps I do. Ami and Seònaid’s handfasting was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. Second only to the moment of our mating when I felt our souls intertwine. I thought we could have our own handfasting. In front of our family. All of them.”
I looked around. Our Love surrounded us, pure and perfect. Ian’s arm was around Moire’s waist. Ami’s hand rested on Seònaid’s bottom and their heads were touching. Una was curled against Marcas. Faolan was the only one standing apart. He looked wistful, but not entirely unhappy.
“This is what you were doing today?” I accused.
“Finding roses this time of year was difficult. Ian and I had to travel to his home in the south. His gardens there are truly impressive. It is a long trip.” Raven grinned.
“I suppose I will have to forgive you then.”
Raven offered me his hand and led me inside the circle. We stood at the center. The couples formed three points of the compass with Faolan taking up the fourth. Moire and Ian spoke first, their voices combining in unison. “We ask the Fates to bless this union with the gifts from the four corners of the world. We represent the gifts of the north a firm foundation on which to build, a hope for a fertile mind and body, and a stable home where you may always return to each other’s arms.”
Marcas and Una spoke next. “We represent the gifts of the south the comfort of a loving home, the heat of the heart’s passion, and light in the darkest of times.”
Seònaid and Ami stepped forward. “We represent the gifts of the west a commitment as deep and a passion as all encompassing as the sea.”
Faolan’s raspy voice completed the ritual. “I give you the gifts of the east the union of the heart, mind, and body, fresh beginnings with the rising of each sun.”
The air around us stirred. I swept my gaze over the deep purple sky to where it touched the expansive sea. The water lapped softly at the sand. I inhaled deeply. The salty air filled my lungs. I had never felt so free so very loved and safe.
Ami stepped forward with a braided piece of silk. “Ealasaid, take Raven’s left hand in yours.” She laid her hand on ours, cool against our warmth. Her eyes met mine. “May I bind your hands?”
I nodded. As she tied a loose knot at our wrists, a sudden memory threatened me, but one look into Raven’s eyes and it vanished.
“Your hands are now joined, in front of your family, as witnessed by the Fates. Hold each other, caress each other, support each other, love each other. Your lives, your hearts, and your souls are joined in this life and the next. By the Fates and by the laws of this land may this be done.” Ami unwound the silk and handed it to Seònaid. “There is only one thing left to do.”
I looked over at her. What else could there be?
Raven dipped his hand into his pocket and brought forth two silver rings, one large and one small. “A symbol. Like our sigils. I had them made for us.”
He took the smaller ring and slid it onto my finger. It was warm. The engravings appeared to come alive for a brief second, glinting in the light of the surrounding lanterns. Raven extended his hand, offering me his ring. I had a sudden flash of memory: Raven offering me a grape the first morning I’d been free. Tears pricked at my eyes. With trembling fingers, I held his ring. My magic pulsed, heating the silver. What is happening? As the ring slid over Raven’s finger, I awakened my sight. Emerald wisps of air were flowing from my hand to his. His aura took on the slightest green tinge. It was almost like a halo around his body. The ring had a stronger aura, one all its own. Was there magic in the metal? I looked down at my hand. My ring had no such aura. When I looked back at his ring, the aura was gone.
“Ealasaid.” He brought me back with the gentle word. “The Fates smiled upon me the day they led me to you. They have blessed me every day since. I have seen you discover your magic, your voice, your strength, and even your very name. Each day with you is a gift-one I treasure.”
I cupped his cheek. “It is I who am blessed. I had nothing. You gave me the strength to discover who I was. It is because of you that I have a family. There is nothing more precious to me than this.”
For several long moments, all was silent. We were locked in a gentle embrace. Raven’s eyes shone with unshed tears. He dipped his head. His lips were soft, warm, and tasted of home. He was my home.

Patricia D. Eddy has been a writer all of her life. She used to sit at her parents’ kitchen counter at an Apple IIe typing out short stories. She even wrote a few on their old typewriter. But it wasn’t until NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in 2011 that she ever came close to finishing a story she started.
Once that dam broke, the flood waters never receded. Patricia sits down to write every evening after dinner and quite often sees midnight come and go before she heads to bed. She doesn’t sleep much. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.
In her spare (HA!) time she runs, bikes, swims, yogas, pilates-es, reads, and is terribly addicted to Doctor Who and Sherlock. Apparently she has a thing for quirky British men.

Guest Post by author Amy Richie
When I was in the seventh grade we had an assignment to write a story from a prompt about following a detour sign. I loved the assignment and I loved how my story turned out. It was one of the three that got chosen by the teacher as the best and I had to read my story in front of the class. I hated writing after that and decided it wasn’t for me. I still remained friends with a group that loved to write. We often swapped “chapters” of our latest literary masterpieces. It was a lot of fun and I even dreamt of an entire vampire family when I was thirteen. (The Immortal Love Series) That was also the year my grandma moved and gave me her entire collection of regency romance books. 300 books. I spent that entire summer reading a book almost every day.
I would say that was the year I “knew” I would one day write but it wasn’t until much later that I decided to try it for real. My aunt was an avid reader and I would often send her my stories. She was the only one who read any of those first stories. She convinced me to try and get them published. It wasn’t until after she died that I got my first publishing contract for Timeless, The Immortal Love Series. That was in 2011 and now there is no going back!

At least, that’s what Toby says. But maybe Toby is the one who can’t be trusted. Where the ghost people are concerned, can any of them be trusted?

Amy Richie has lived in a small town her entire life. She lives with her three kids and their pet rat Jasper. She began writing in high school but never took it seriously until a few years ago. She enjoys writing because it takes her out of her everyday life and gives life to the people in her head. Amy says: “When I was little I wanted to be a mermaid, then when I was in high school I wanted to be a vampire; now as an adult I’m a writer, which is better because now I get to be both.”

Prologue
The woman was beautiful. She looked like a supermodel ready
to walk the runway. The blackest of black eyelashes swept upward, accenting the
depths of her emerald eyes. Curls of mahogany sat on top of her head while the
apple of her cheeks were highlighted with a slight pink as if the sun had
kissed her.
I should have been excited. I should have been anxious.
But as my heartbeat thrashed in my ears, all I felt was
dread.
I sat on the stool, staring at the girl in the mirror. I
wondered who this girl was. I wondered where the old girl had gone and how I
could get her back.
The problem was I couldn’t. The lie was so deep, the charade
so long that there was nowhere else to go but to move forward.
It was an out-of-body experience as the chaos of the circus
around me was happening. I barely noticed the woman in front of me as she
swished her little brush of pink gloss on my pouty lips.
Everybody was getting ready for the big day.
My big day.
Four photographers were scattered around the room, catching every
moment and every detail from the shoes to the invitation to the flowers.
Orchids.
Orchids didn’t give off a scent like every other flower. Too
much water would drown them. Not enough sunlight would kill them. They were
useless and high maintenance.
So, when the florist had asked me what kind of flowers I
would like for my bouquet, I’d said,
“Orchids.”
It was the flower I despised the most. It wasn’t because of its
lack of beauty or its uselessness,
but I didn’t want anything that I would pick for my real day.
The photographers moved to the king-sized bed, and they
snapped pictures of the regal designer wedding gown. This was another thing I
would have never picked for myself. I remembered my last fitting. I had barely squeezed into the
strapless couture dress. I would never pick a dress that I couldn’t walk, dance
or eat in. I hated it, and that was the reason I’d picked it.
My stomach growled from starvation. I’d had no appetite the
night before, and today, Kendall, my maid of honor, wouldn’t allow me to
eat. It was so unlike her. I guessed it was for my benefit because it
took forever and a half to fit into my dress. Either way, my stomach was eating
itself because it had nothing else to feed off of.
The time went by slowly as if it were dragging on purpose to
punish me for living the biggest lie of my life. Most people would say their wedding day had
flown by. This day was killing me, killing me softly and slowly.
All I wanted was for it to be over, but the day had just
begun.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. If I can only get through this day…this one
day…
I just needed to get through today.
