Author K.L. Grayson
K.L. Grayson resides in a small town outside of St. Louis, MO. She is entertained daily by her extraordinary husband, who will forever inspire every good quality she writes in a man. Her entire life rests in the palms of six dirty little hands, and when the day is over and those pint-sized cherubs have been washed and tucked into bed, you can find her typing away furiously on her computer. She has a love for alpha-males, brownies, reading, tattoos, sunglasses, and happy endings…and not particularly in that order.

**This book contains sensitive subject matters**
This book is a standalone novel
Regret . . . she’s a snarky little bitch.
I’ve tried several times to regret the events that took place on June 5, 2008, but for the life of me, I can’t. I’d never regret the pain, the suffering, or the heartache because they ultimately led me to the place I am now. And I can’t regret the place I am now. What I still can’t figure out is this: how is it possible that the single worst day of my life inadvertently became the very best day?
Five years ago my life was irrevocably changed.
Seventeen minutes was all it took—
to lose my best friend…
to lose the love of my life…
Seventeen minutes was all it took for the seeds of hope—the seeds of my future—to be planted in the worst possible way.
“It’s hard to believe that this is a debut novel from the author , it’s so well written , the characters are well developed and the story flows amazingly .” Book Queen
“This book is one of those that once you start reading it, you will not want to put it down.” Megan
“What an amazing story of forgiveness and second chance love.” Amazon Customer

Elizabeth Herrera
INTERVIEW WITH ELIZABETH HERRERA
WHAT SPARKED THE IDEA FOR THIS BOOK?
The idea for Earth Sentinels began while having breakfast with my family. Everyone was quiet, so I thought I would liven things up with an impromptu story of how the earth’s creatures were tired of mankind destroying the earth and planned to strike back. I created a story of big beasts sneaking up on people, then tearing them limb from limb. I expected my children to be appalled by the blood and gore, but instead their eyes were wide with fascination and my 14-year-old daughter, who is sweet and loving by nature, clenched her fist and exclaimed, “Yes!” It was then that I knew I was on to something. We are all troubled by the greed destroying our planet and want to someone, anyone, to do something.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART IN WRITING THIS BOOK?
I shed a lot of tears while researching Earth Sentinels, because the planet is in much worse shape than I had imagined. It was a HUGE lesson in forgiveness.
IS ANYTHING IN YOUR BOOK BASED ON REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES OR PURELY ALL IMAGINATION?
The supernatural events in my books may seem far-fetched, but many of them are true! The beauty of fiction is that readers don’t know which parts are true or not. I’ll leave it to the readers to decide. Of course, in my memoir all of the miracles are true.
WHAT MADE YOU QUALIFIED TO WRITE THIS?
I began practicing shamanism (Native American spirituality) 12 years ago, which has given me insights that can only be received experientially. For example, once you learn to communicate with the spirit realm, you are able to talk with the elements (storms, water, wind, earth). The fallen angel Bechard, Master of the Elements, is a reflection of my experiences. As they say, “truth is stranger than fiction.” Although in this case, they might be equal.
About The Author:
Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a healer and author who writes life-changing books. Her stories encourage people to stretch outside their comfort zones and reexamine their own beliefs. Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, but lost her faith in her early twenties. For over a decade, she searched for something to fill the void, eventually discovering Native American spirituality (shamanism). Through this spiritual practice, she unexpectedly became a catalyst for healing and miracles. These events led her back to a belief in a higher power. Her great-grandfather was a full-blooded Apache, who raised her father. She was fortunate to know her great-grandfather. He smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa. She is the author of Shaman Stone Soup, Dreams of Dying and Earth Sentinels. Born and raised in Michigan, she now lives in North Carolina with her family.

Sometimes, a girl needs change…

Barista’s
This is where I’m writing today, because I needed a change. I’ve been holed up at home for what seems like all summer. I realize that’s what my problem has been these last couple of months while I struggled for things to “click”. My home office is no longer a creative space for me, because I also use the space for one of my “day jobs.”
Yes, it’s true, most writers have one or two jobs they must have in order to do what they love (write). I happen to have two (jobs). Have I told you that before? Well, if I haven’t, here it is — during the early part of the day I’m a legal assistant for a married-attorneys team. They’re amazing, and I’ve enjoyed the last five years working there. After I get off and pick up my kids from school, I go home and put my Quality Control cap on and I work for a transcription company doing QC and typing transcripts. No, I do not sleep much, ha!
And so, my home office has become associated with work, which I’m sure most of you would agree can zap the glamour out of an office area, no matter how pretty it is, or what kind of pictures you have on the walls, or the view from the window.
So, here I am, typing at Barista’s, my favorite coffee shop in town. There aren’t many of them in this town. It’s a relatively small town in the heart of Nebraska, though it’s 200 times bigger than the tiny town I graduated in. This coffee shop is quiet, and usually not busy. And, when it isn’t raining out (it’s sprinkling now), I can write on the patio under the pergola. Today, it’s sprinkling so I’m inside with my earbuds in, listing to my “Just To Write” playlist and
What about you? Do you have a special place you enjoy writing, reading, or just a place for catching a breath from your job, stress, and soaking in some solitude?

Years in the cutthroat L.A. music industry have Kit Maggio yearning for love and acceptance in her hometown, Audubon Springs. Her position as a Theater Arts professor doesn’t erase years of being shoved aside by her family. Her baby sister is getting married, and her high school sweetheart doesn’t recognize her. Will she ever find what she needs?
Vince Iuliano never imagined he’d be a single dad. Vowing no woman will ever again break his daughter’s heart, he focuses on providing a happy and stable home. But when the love of his life rents the house next door, can he take a chance on happiness?
Vince never forgot Kit. Setting out to earn her forgiveness, they fall back into the rhythm of love and heat, much like the songs they wrote as teens. When L.A. calls, will Kit go, or stay and write her greatest love song?

Kit rubbed her eyes and swung the door open to find a bright-eyed Vince Iuliano holding a box of doughnuts.
“What are you doing ringing my doorbell?” She hissed and stepped through the door, pushing him out onto the porch in the process.
“I thought you ladies might need these.” He held up the box of doughnuts.
“Is it Advil?” Katelyn appeared at the door. “Isn’t that the guy you kissed last night?”
“No, it is not.” She shooed her away and shut the door.
“I think you forgot something at the bar,” Vince said.
“What’s that?”
“Your dignity?”
“Look, it was a dare! I had to kiss the next guy who walked through the door. I took one for the team.”
He stared for a long moment then reached out and touched her sticky hair. “The party continue here last night?”
“You have a lot of nerve ringing my doorbell when you know what kind of shape I’m in right now.” Vince smiled. “Jerk. Are those for me?” She nodded to the doughnuts.
“They might be.”
“If you’re here for an apology, forget it. I’m not going to apologize.”
“Good. Did it seem like I was complaining?”
A rush of heat on her skin against the brisk morning air caused goose bumps to rise on her skin. Dear God in heaven, he was flirting. “I’m not sure. I can’t remember.” It was a lie. Even through her drunken haze and fuzzy memory, she recalled with startling clarity the sizzling chemistry of that kiss. It was an experience she wanted to repeat over and over again but wouldn’t. “So, what, you tracked me down to bring me hangover doughnuts?”
“No, consider them a welcome to the neighborhood present.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m your landlord, and your soon to be neighbor.” He motioned to the house next door where several guys unloaded windows from a truck.
“You’re joking.”
“No, it needs some work before we move in, but it shouldn’t take too long.”
“I dealt with a woman for the lease to this house. Annie O’Malley.”
“Annie O’Malley Iuliano, my sister-in-law.”
She stared, mouth gaping. “Here you go.” He handed her the doughnuts. “I don’t know how many women are passed out inside, so if it’s not enough, just let us know and we’ll get you more. Oh, and the carpet is new so if there’s any damage, please take care of it right away. Management frowns on that stuff.”
“Anything else?”
“Yeah. I’ll see you at the wedding.” He flashed a smile, his dimples winking wickedly managed to make her throat grow dry.
“Figured that out, did you?”
“Just, make sure to save a dance for me.”
“In your dreams.”

Annie O’Malley’s dream of owning a secondhand bookstore in tight-knit Audubon Springs is coming true. Still reeling from her parents’ sudden deaths, she believes that signs or messages can be found within the pages of books. She loves her job and has made plenty of friends but longs for the acceptance only love and a family can provide.
Tony Iuliano is there to fix the wiring in her shop. He doesn’t believe in fate, magic, or the power of a good book. All this combined with his sexy-as-sin presence and all-knowing attitude infuriates Annie. The quirky bookworm intrigues him enough to accept her bet to read a book from her shop. When he discovers a stack of fifty-year-old love letters in the book, he wants to leave the past alone, but seeing it as a sign, Annie challenges him to read the letters and search for the long-lost lovers or lose the bet.
While shaking the dust off several ill-fated romances and fighting their attraction at every turn, the pair soon become the town gossip daily special. If they can stop arguing long enough, they may just discover this particular sign was meant for them all along.

Cover Reveal ~ Raven Falling by Misti Murphy ~ Sparkle Book Tours
Presented by:
Series: Shadows and Light #1
Author: Misti Murphy
Audience: Adult
Genre: Paranormal Fiction
Formats: E-Book
Publisher: Misti Murphy
Cover by: Yocla Design
Raven Mackenzie has a normal life, a great job in finances and a never-ending closet. At the end of a hard day the only thing she wants is to spend time with her best friend Luke, her constant companion since they were teenagers.
Ash is an Angel of Death and for thousands of years he’s been taking souls to the other side. Now he faces his toughest mission. He made a promise to Raven’s father, a promise he intends to keep. He must help Raven survive no matter what the cost. Even if it means taking her into a world he hates.
When Raven meets Ash, her normal life is rocked to its core. No longer a human but an Angel of death, she is given a choice. She must decide between eternal torment and murder.
As Raven’s world crumbles around her, she finds herself torn between the decision she must make, her past, and the future she wants.
Will Raven be able to make the right choice before time runs out?
RAVEN STOOD in the middle of Ash’s living room. It was not what she had expected. The furnishings were sparse, and thick with dust. Nothing about the place spoke of the man in front of her. His intensity, and his impeccable taste, obvious by the clothes he wore should have been noticeable in his belongings. Instead, his house looked like it should be tore down, and the way he fidgeted, shuffling his weight from one foot to the other made her think he wanted to be anywhere but here.
In the kitchen, he put the kettle on to boil and pulled a chipped blue mug from a cupboard, plunking a tea bag into it. “I hope you don’t mind it black.”
The room seemed to grow smaller with every moment she watched him, his agitation rubbing off on her. The air was thick with dust and she coughed, wondering if it would be rude of her to leave so soon. Her gut twisted, now he was not paying any attention to her, she couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong.
He pushed the mug, the string of the tea bag still hanging down the side, in front of her and she took the warm cup. Sipping her tea, she followed him into the living room, noting the fading yellow paint, and threadbare carpet, full of waxy-edged burn marks. Abandoned, she thought, was the feeling she got from the house.
The night was not turning out the way she had wanted it to. He flung himself down into the armchair and waved for her to sit. She looked at the couch, and hoped her tetanus shots were up-to-date. It sagged heavily in the middle and she was sure she could see the end of one of the springs poking out of the worn upholstery.
She wanted to go back to when the night had promised kissing, when she had been excited to be going home with this good-looking stranger.
Together they sat in silence, the clock ticking quietly in the background. She waited impatiently. The longer she waited the more frustrated she got. Her nerves frayed with how weird the situation was, but she could not bring herself to leave. He had not made a move to speak, or to look in her direction, as if he had forgotten she was there.
He watched her as she shifted in her seat, unable to get comfortable. The hardness of the worn-out couch was causing her butt to go numb. Having sobered up considerably and the warmth of the tea having dissipated, she stood up to leave. There was no point in continuing this night and her bed called in a soft and inviting voice.
His voice sliced through her. “This is more difficult than I thought it would be. I have to tell you something important and I need you to listen.”
“What?” She gaped at him, as she slid back on to the couch. What could he possibly have to say that she needed to hear?
A shiver swept up her spine and she tried, unsuccessfully, to shake it off. She didn’t go home with random guys, no matter how handsome they were, or how good they smelled, and now he wanted to tell her something. Her heart was beating hard with the sense of danger, but she was stubborn too, and she would stay until she knew what she needed to know, whatever it was.
She had trusted him enough to leave the club with him, so she could give him the benefit of the doubt. She jostled her legs as she considered whether she might need to run away. Having run track all through high school, she knew she was fast, and hoped with a head start she would be able to outrun his long legs. She stared at the door for a moment and then gave him her full attention, not wanting him to realize what she was thinking. He rubbed his hands through his glossy black hair, making it look even more styled than it already was.
“I don’t know how to start this…,” he said, looking around the room, at anything but her. “I’m just going to have to tell you and hope you will not be too difficult to persuade.”
She didn’t know if he was trying to frighten her, but every word added to the uncertainty of the situation, and had her struggling to keep her eyes from the door. She wished for the second time that night she had chosen to wear ballet flats instead of heels. She was slowly deciding heels were not a girl’s best friend.
He sat forward, knotting his fingers under his chin and resting his elbows on his knees, looking her over as if she were an exotic specimen under a magnifying glass. “I don’t want to scare you, but I can’t see how I am going to tell you this without you freaking out.”
“Just tell me!”
“I’ve been sent to…mentor you through your testing.”
She had no idea what he was talking about, but he was right, she was freaking out. His eyes told her he was worried about her reaction, but his words were having that exact effect. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I have no choice… You have no choice. I was sent to watch you until… It’s time Raven. You are one of the chosen, one of ours and now it’s time.”
What the hell was happening? She felt like she was on the verge of a breakdown. Somewhere between dancing with Tarra, and now, her mind had simply vanished. She needed the full story, and she was no longer willing to wait to hear it.
However, he continued to circle his point.
“Your father was my friend. I promised him that when it was time, I would be there to help you.”
She did not understand why he would bring her father into it. He could not possibly have known her father, Sam. He had died fifteen years ago, and she had never seen Ash before tonight.
She had at first glance assumed he was not much older than she was, and on second glance she would not place his age over thirty-five. Even if he did have a full nine years on her, she didn’t really think he would have been the type of person her father would have known.
She stood up, her hands automatically going to her hips. It was a stance that had gotten her through many difficult situations. “Whatever you are trying to tell me, you need to tell me now. I am two seconds away from walking out the door.”
“Right.” He stood too, towering above her, causing her to step back. “Let me get straight to the point then. It is my job to know who you are, to protect you, and to help you survive. Your father was an amazing man. He was a very gentle man but he had a hard job, one that I am afraid you will inherit in a very short time, and I promised him I would prepare you for it. Your father was an angel. He and I, we are of the same line. We are Takers of Souls.”
“Takers of Souls?” The concept was familiar and she searched her memory. “Angels of Death? Shouldn’t there be only one?”
She couldn’t begin to process his far-fetched story, but the fact he thought he was an angel of death scuttled her nerves. She could see it in his eyes, in the way he talked that he truly believed what he was telling her. Oh, God, was she going to die tonight?
What if he was stuck in his own fantasy world? How could he know enough about her to get her here, alone, in such a dangerous situation? Could he have been watching her, following her and had she simply not noticed? She tried to remember if she had seen him before, but she knew she would have remembered him. Anyone who saw him would have to notice him.
Her legs jiggled with adrenaline. Despite wanting to run, she felt compelled to listen to him, to stay and hear him out.
Every word he said sounded like the truth. It was only her brain, which kept her from believing, from falling under his spell. Her brain was a logical thing and would require proof. Something she was sure he would be unable to provide. She glanced at the door for the millionth time.
“Your father is dying, Raven, and even though he fell many years ago, his role has not been replaced. When he passes, that role will be yours. You are being called to serve.”
“Wait! What do you mean my father is dying?” Raven could not believe what she was hearing. Her father had died. She had been at his funeral; it was the last time she had gotten to say good-bye to the man who had meant so much to her.
She could still remember that day clearly. She had held her mother’s hand as they entered the church. Inside she could hear the voices of the many people who had come to say good-bye to her father. His coffin had been at the front of the room, and they had had to walk past the rows of pews to where her father’s body rested. Her mother had been broken as they stood beside the coffin saying their final good-byes; she had squeezed her mother’s hand, holding on as she watched her mother’s tears trailing silently down the woman’s cheeks.
She had wanted to comfort her mother, but didn’t know how to reach out to the woman who had shut down completely on hearing the news of her beloved husband’s death. They had stood silently hand in hand for a long time, staring at the man laid out in a black suit.
She had wondered why her father had been in a suit, and not in his customary uniform of denim and a T-shirt. It was the only time she could remember seeing him in a suit and it had looked so wrong on him. His skin had been pale, tinged blue and his eyes closed, and she hoped that he was only sleeping, although she knew, that he would never wake up. She had leaned closer and whispered to him, “Don’t leave me, Daddy.”
The tears had flowed freely then, dashing a mad race down her cheeks, as her mother pulled her quickly to the front pew where they sat silently side-by-side for the rest of the funeral. She hadn’t gone to the cemetery, although she had wanted to. Her mother had sent her home to prepare for the visitors that would arrive shortly after they lowered her father into the ground.
“My father died a long time ago,” she said.
“No. He didn’t.” His voice was quiet, and sliced through her like steel. Raven stopped and turned.
“Yes…” He had her questioning herself. “… he did.”
“Your father is an angel. Angels are immortal beings, and as such, he cannot die. However, to hide himself and you from us, he has had to siphon off his immortality, now he is getting weak and they will find both of you.” He was coming toward her, his hands moving rapidly as he talked.
“Them? Do you mean God?”
“No! I mean them!” He hissed, rolling his eyes heavenwards. “The Shadows. God is for humans—those that don’t know any better.”
“So my father is not dead?”
“Yes.”
“You’re lying. Why are you lying to me?” she snapped and took a step toward him, her hands balled in fists at her sides.
She did not want to believe him anymore than she wanted to go through the pain of losing her father a second time, adding to it the misery of finding out he had abandoned her all those years ago.
“Unfortunately, Raven, that’s not your choice to make. You are required for service. It’s time to face your past and your future.” He was stalking her across the room and she took another step back, the back of her knees hitting against the coffee table. There was nowhere for her to go.
“Why? Why should I?” She did not know why she kept having this conversation with him.
“Because you are the only heir your father had. As our leader, he must be replaced by his own bloodline, and when he dies that role will be assigned to you. You don’t get a choice in whether you accept it, only whether you survive it.”

She loves chocolate as much as she loves reading, and enjoys baking desserts that result in diabetic comas. In her downtime she procaffinates with friends and stalks Facebook.

His hands reached out and encircled her waist. “So she’ll sign the lease then?” His voice had gotten low and sent a chill through her. “Does she have a job?”
Ren wanted to step away from his touch. Her entire body screamed to jerk free of his hold but she fought to keep control over the situation. “Quill and I work. We’ll make sure you get the rent on time.”
Brock laughed. “You don’t work enough hours to pay rent and utilities. Not to mention food to eat.”
“I think your only concern would be whether I can pay you the rent on time.” Ren stood straighter.
“Can you?” he raised an eyebrow.
“Well I don’t have it right now. With the funeral costs it will be tight this month.” Ren was lying. The funeral cost weren’t even close to being paid off and she had no money set aside for rent. Anything Grams had, Mom had spent before the body was in the ground.
Brock pulled her into him. “Well then I guess that’s where your initial question comes back into play.”
“And what was that?” Ren was afraid to ask.
“What can you do for me?” He ran the back of his fingers down her cheek.
Ren swallowed. She didn’t like where this was going. Ren pulled her lip ring into her mouth and sucked on it for a minute before letting it slide out again. Brock took in a sharp breath, his thumb moved to caress the ring encircling her lip.
“What can I do for you,” Ren said, lowering her voice to a confident whisper. “More importantly what’s in it for me?” She leaned into him, raising her hand to rest against his chest.
Brock diverted his eyes from hers. She suppressed a smile when she felt his heartbeat quicken. She craved the control she had over men and if she could use it to get a few more days to pay the rent she’d play his game.
“What do you want,” she said again leaning in to brush her lips against the side of his neck.
Brock moved his hands to Ren’s shoulders and pushed her away. “I want a deal.”
Ren leaned back against the wall of the living room and crossed her arms over her chest. “What terms?”
The corner of Brock’s mouth turned up. He dipped his head and looked up through his long lashes. “You have…” he let his voice train off.
She raised an eyebrow. “A rep?”
He looked at his feet and shook his head.
“Spill it Roberts. What do you want?”
“Okay here’s the deal. I’ll give you a break on the rent. I’ll even give you some extra for the stuff you need. I want you to provide services for me.”
Ren pushed off the wall and walked away from him. “I’m not for sale.”
“I’m open to negotiation.” He followed after her.
“I’m not having sex with you for money.”
“Again I said I’m open for negotiations.”
“I already kissed you. Let you put your hands all over me. Do I get paid for that?” Ren continued to walk across the house, hoping to get some distance between them. “She hadn’t planned on even kissing him but she was drunk at the Warehouse Club and he had been a willing distraction from her mom.
“Well since we already did that for free I was thinking of upping the anti a bit.” His eyes lowered toward his crotch and then back to meet hers.
Ren turned on him. “What? You want me to suck you off for rent money? We aren’t living on the set of Gossip Girl.”
“Is that what you’re offering?”
“I don’t know that I’m offering anything.”
“I need to know if what you can do for me is worth what I’m offering.” He placed his hands on her shoulders moving his thumbs in small circles on the side of her neck. “If you’re as good as I think you’ll be it could be a couple hundred off. I expect you to be available when I call. Whenever I call.” He moved into her. “Are you worth it?”
She felt sick to her stomach. “I’m worth it,” Ren said without batting an eye.

After many years trudging through the social awkwardness of high school and the whirl wind of college romances I finally landed in the Seattle area writing about the hell, horror, and don’t forget hot romance of youth.
I love all things outdoors and can be found hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, or doing anything that will work up a good sweat. I love to interact with my readers and meet them at signings.

He and I were like an old song, I supposed. Even when the radio no longer played it, I could still hear the tune, I could still sing every word—it had been my favorite song for so long. ~ Lexie
~~ Excerpt ~~
“Damn it, Lex, you keep pushing me away and it’s pissing me off.” He ran his hands through his hair. “I’m not going to fight over you with some guy who’s already gone.”
“Me pushing you away has nothing to do with Jeremy,” I said and crossed my arms. What I didn’t say was that it had everything to do with Leo, with our past, with me not wanting to get my heart broken again. Why couldn’t he understand that? Why couldn’t he read my mind and know all the questions I had about why he’d broken up with me the way he had, and why he was suddenly here, again, in my life, torturing me with feelings I didn’t want to have. Feelings that scared the hell out of me?
His face lowered, and suddenly his lips were near my ear lobe. I sucked in a breath. “Did he make you feel like this?” he whispered, and then his lips pressed softly against the sensitive skin of my neck. “Or this?” His lips captured my earlobe, a flicker of wet heat, and then it was gone, replaced by a draft of cold air seeping through the crack under the door. “Or this.”
His lips captured mine and stars exploded behind my closed eyes. Everything was warm, my entire body weightless and fuzzy. The kiss was slow; the heat of it felt all the way down to my toes. His tongue slid against mine in a silken kiss of passion that erupted inside of me.

Operation Genome #1 by CS Patra ~ Tour and Interview with the Author
Presented by:

Quickie Fun Interview
Thanks so much for joining my blog today for one of my Quickie Fun interviews
My first question is where do you write? I know some writers have those special places where creativity is at its highest. Do you have a favorite write-spot?
My favorite writing spot is my desk in my room. I’ve got my desktop, all my tunes, the shows I like to watch, and a lot of light. Hardly anyone disturbs me there and I feel the safest sitting in my chair, preparing to write.
Did you always know you were going to be a writer?
I enjoyed writing all the time but I didn’t know if I was going to be one. I had all the ideas but I never had the time to sit down and write it all. I didn’t get serious about it until I was eighteen. That was when I realized that I really enjoyed writing and I wanted to do it. I had plenty of stories to tell and I wanted to spread them around the world.
Do you have a favorite writing snack or drink?
I usually don’t eat or drink when I’m writing. With writing, the only thing I’m doing at that point is writing. Maybe I listen to music or a show in the background but I try not to eat or drink near my keyboard.
If you could take your laptop and go anywhere to write (think ultimate writer’s retreat) where would that be?
Can be completely out there with my answer and say on another planet? (Barring, you know, getting a spaceship, training to be an astronaut, etc). It just sounds like something that no one would ever do but me. If I want to get realistic, the ultimate retreat would be traveling all around Asia. I’d be seeing so many sights and getting inspired by everything.
And now for the Quickie questions:
Olives or Pickles?
Pickles (Unless the olives are black olives)
Soda (I call it pop) or Tea?
Soda. I’m not really a tea drinker unless it’s iced tea.
Thor or Captain America?
Is it bad that I’m not really an Avengers fan? I don’t really watch superhero movies or read the comics that much, I’m afraid Both of them have amazing bodies though.
Monsters or Aliens?
Aliens.
Thanks for letting my blog readers get to know a little bit about you today
Thank you for having me!

Joe, Lowell, Eugene, Chuck, Reiko, Ally, Sam, and Megan were a part of the test. They were designed to destroy the human race.
Now they are going to save the world that is desperate to get rid of them.
For the last couple of years, humans have been trying to perfect themselves by creating the perfect human being. They ran tests on children to see just how far they could go with their experiments. Parents lined up at the door, all willing to make their child become the perfect human. It seemed to be the perfect plan until a horrible truth was unleashed. A group known as Operation: Genome had plans for their experiments that didn’t involve saving mankind. Instead, they were hoping to take the world. The experiments would be known as Frozen Warriors until they were summoned by their creators. Once they awoke, all Hell would break loose and destruction would follow. By the time most of the people found out this truth, it was too late to go back. All they could do was hope for a miracle.
Years would pass before some of the Frozen Warriors started to wake up. In the midst of it all was Chuck Everett, a genius child desperate to get attention from his father, and seven of his childhood friends. They begin to notice strange things happening to them and they stumble across something they should never have seen. As the truth begins to unfold, Chuck and his friends come to a decision about their futures. They realize they have to fight. They know they were made to go into war.
They’re just fighting for the other side.

Prologue
A long time ago, mankind made a grave mistake.
But it hadn’t been a mistake from the start. What they had been trying to do was keep more mistakes from happening. Come present day, the numbers of problems were rising. Wars in various countries. Famine. Poverty. Disease. All of which they wanted to put an end to once and for all. Danger was only spreading further so they decided to come up with the ultimate plan: build a race designed only for saving mankind.
It wasn’t something they had hoped for or wanted from the very beginning. They weren’t even sure that this was a mistake when it started. They were sure they were doing the right thing for humanity. As technology started to advance, they decided to advance their own race. After all, people had played with genetics before. They had successfully crossbred living creatures. So why couldn’t they try to make their own race stronger? That was where the visions started.
It was a very simple plan that went on for years. Several scientists named themselves “SH” (Save Humanity) and came up with an idea that would change genetics. A group of newborns would be subjected to tests and observed. Their DNA would be altered and they would be given powers that most people didn’t have. As time passed, their bodies would change. They would develop powers slowly and wouldn’t be able to control them until they were between the ages of 13 and 25. Until that point, they would be known as “Frozen Warriors.” But when they came to terms with their abilities, they would become “Awakened Warriors” and would be gathered to help mankind be rid of the terrors that plagued them.
But not everyone had the same idea. An opposite group called “Operation: Genome” decided that this power could not be used to save mankind. A person with such powers had to have bigger goals and desires. So they began their own plans to start a rebel group of Frozen Warriors. Many separated from SH in secret and went to join Operation: Genome for their own purposes. Once word of this got out, both sides found themselves at war and were sure that the third World War was coming. It would be between the Awakened Warriors and anyone who got in their way. Those that survived this war would determine what would happen with the world. It seemed to be destiny, so both sides created more Frozen Warriors. Only time would tell just how strong they would be.
Yet there was a small bit of hope. Prior to the ties between both sides being broken, scientists had created two scrolls: one silver and one gold. The silver was said to push back the darkness while the gold was to bring forth the light. Only a true warrior would be able to use these scrolls. When the time was right, the right person would use those scrolls to fix what had been broken. They could only hope that the scrolls fell into the right person’s hands.
For now, it was nothing more than a waiting game. Neither side interacted with each other again and made sure to keep their secrets locked up. All they could do was hope that their warriors would be the ones who would prevail in the end. Their destinies were determined and no one could break out of them.
Or so they believed.

The main protagonist of the story, Chuck is the only child of Dr. Jonathan Everett and the late Isabel Montoya Everett. In his words, he is an inventor, chemist, mechanical engineer, and computer hacker rolled in one. Extremely intelligent, he is considered a genius by his friends though his IQ is never stated. He has a crush on a girl named Gwendolyn at his school but can barely look at her to say hi. What he lacks in physical strength, he makes up with his creativity and ability to make new gadgets. He’s desperate to get his father’s attention but he rarely succeeds there. His friends often tease him for being a nerd but each one secretly admires his intelligence. He has the ability to teleport, something that showed up when he was younger. His father tried to hide this by claiming Chuck had a sleepwalking problem. Although his power is the least stable of all, he comes up with ways to control it.
Originally from Minnesota, Joe moved to New York shortly after he found a job opportunity there. He technically lives in New Jersey but drives into the city all the time for work and to see his friends. Though in his early twenties, he’s the oldest of the group and often acts like a big brother. Everyone considers him the leader even though he never asked to be one. While he gets annoyed with them from time to time, he also sees how strong they are and does his best to keep them in line. He has the ability to read anyone’s mind as well as drain people of their energy with the touch of his hand. He wears a bracelet that keeps him from doing that (which he thought was originally to warn people of his allergies). In the beginning, he isn’t thrilled about his circumstances but soon decides that he wants to use his powers to help others.
Lowell is a student at NYU and is working towards his Bachelor’s degree. The rest of his family is in Texas and he sees them when he is on break. He is fascinated with history, especially Asian and Middle Eastern history, and wishes to do something in regards to that. He is quite a neat freak and likes to cook though he rarely has time for the latter. The second oldest in the group, Lowell is considered to be the realist. He does not jump into conclusions if they can’t be explained by logic. He’s unwilling to get involved at first but soon jumps in when he realizes what’s going on. His shadow and reflection have the ability to leave him and attack anyone he tells them to. He also gets them to help him with chores when he needs them.
Eugene is Lowell’s roommate and best friend to Chuck. He’s a little more optimistic than the others in the group and would do anything to make people smile. His parents divorced not too long ago and people suspect that this is the reason why he tries to stay positive. Despite his laid-back nature, Eugene can be serious if needed. He will stand up for what he believes in and he protects his friends and family at all costs. His power is super speed and he is the first one to get a good grasp of his ability. He uses his ability a lot more than the others even if it just to get from class to class.
At eighteen, Reiko just entered Columbia as a freshman and is studying chemistry. She’s very bright though she does struggle in her classes. She is still trying to find her way around in life and in college. She has a very gothic style and likes wearing mostly neutral colors like black, gray, and white. She is extremely fond of art and can sometimes be seen at museums and small galleries. Her family lives in Queens, which makes traveling from class and home easy for her. She has a small crush on Chuck ever since he first helped her. She has the ability to control the elements as well as telekinesis. Her power is said to be stronger than the others. It also can become unstable if she ever were to lose to control.
Alec “Ally” Parker is a junior in high school. His favorite thing in the world to do is watch his favorite cartoon, Bringing Pluto Back to the Solar System. He often bothers everyone else by quoting things from it. Smart and eager to learn, he’s curious about Operation: Genome and its purpose. He is the oldest of triplets and originally grew up in Florida. Recently, he discovered that he and his sisters had been adopted. His parents haven’t told him this and he hasn’t told his sisters. He hopes that they will approach him on this one day. He has the ability to heal quickly, which makes him realize he might be immortal. He also feels that there’s more to his power than not being able to die.
Samantha “Sam” Mahanti is a junior in high school and classmate to Ally. She lives in Brooklyn and considers herself a Hindu. Although she isn’t extremely devout, she does attend events at the Hindu Temple and often prays right before events or battles. She’s the middle of nine children and the only girl. Though she is overweight, the only time this bothers her is when her mother rags on her about it. Sharp-tongued and hot-tempered, Sam is one the first one’s ready for battle. She is usually the first tease her friends and the first to defend them. She is a shape-shifter. Though she is the least-experienced with her power, she successfully manages to pull off two changes without anyone noticing.
A freshman in high school, Megan is the youngest of the group. The daughter of a rock star, she currently lives with grandmother and only sees her father now and then. He purposely let her stay in New York so she could be safe from the paparazzi and grow up to have a normal life. She is on the swim team and soccer team at school. She also enjoys skateboarding when the weather is good outside. She is openly gay but not dating anyone at the moment. Despite being much younger than the others, they take everything she says into consideration and never treat her differently. Her ability is to extend her arms and legs to incredible lengths.
