'Stickman-Like' Humanoid Observed in English Secret Garden

A property maintenance worker stumbles across an abandoned 'secret garden' hidden behind a cottage in south east England. He is soon surprised by stickman-like humanoid.

I came across this strange account recently:

"This occurred in April 2019, warm and clear midday. The locations was a walled garden, empty 1940s (rough guess) converted cottages in South East England about an hour out of London. I was working in property maintenance, but did garden design for friends and family (now do it full time). A family friend was paying me in kind to redesign the garden of a property they'd recently renovated. I made the job into a mini break.

Basically, it was a secret garden within a bigger walled garden. Completely overgrown, Wisteria and ivy covered every wall with the mature shrubs encroaching onto the paths and gravel. Tall mature trees cast the whole property in shade.

I was using a hoe to clear back some of the shrubs and ivy so I could define the paths which converged on a vista at the back of the garden which looked out onto fields and a wooded hill.

I'd missed it the first time, but as I walked back I noticed a little secret garden behind a big wooden door. The only reason I clocked it was that there was a sound of what I'd assumed were bees or wasps. It took a grand push but the door eventually gave way. I had to duck to get in. First thing I get hit with a smell like rotten mushrooms plus a shower of brick dust and dried vegetable matter fell on me as I passed through the threshold. The little private garden was about 12ft by 20ft, walled in red brick with a yew or box hedge at the back.

First thing I see is directly in front of me a load of pots of varying sizes filled with dead shrubs and various weeds, ivy and such. I'd expected to see a beehive or something so I was looking left and right and that's when I saw this thing. There was a big old beech tree with a stone bench in front and on it was what looked like a big swathe of ivy, saplings or canes in an upright mass bundle.

At this point I realise whatever are nesting on this bundle aren't bees, I don't know what they were but they looked more like beetles. And so the more I'm concentrating the more I can see this thing is a humanoid, legs, arms and something like a head but no face and the proportions weren't human. If I had to guess a height maybe 6 ft. 5 or 10 seconds later the stickman starts moving, gets up just like a person and in what must have been 2 or 3 seconds it pushed off away from me in the direction of the hedge.

I can't truly convey just how terrified I was in that moment when the penny dropped and I registered what I was looking at. Instinct just took over at that point and I don't recall a huge amount just that my heart jumped into my mouth and I nearly threw up.

So I'm waving my hand out back behind me to the doorway and as soon as I felt the brickwork in one motion I ducked out into the main garden and hurried back to the house.

It took me 20 minutes or so to compose myself during which time I'd typed out a few text messages about what happened, which I didn't send while looking out at the garden from the conservatory. I was going over what it could have been, trying to calm down, rationalise. Later I tentatively returned having convinced myself it was nothing.

I cant quite recall what I'd rationalised it as at the time but I had an idea it had been a deer or some animal which had made a den there. But I knew this wasn't the case and checking the garden confirmed this. The hedge at the back was solid, I used a hoe to try and find a hole to no avail. The mass that made up the humanoid was gone completely, no vines or twig pile left. The insect swarm that I saw covering the thing had dispersed.

Up until very recently I'd forced myself to accept it was just the way the light fell on the tree, that maybe there had been a deer and it'd squeezed through the hedge but as I say above having recently gotten into cryptozoology by chance, the facade I created has started cracking, having wrote this I'm still not sure what I saw." Bizarre Encounter Spooks New Jersey Couple

A couple in suburban New Jersey were out late at night with their puppy, when there was a sudden flash of light. Then they both experienced extreme confusion and terror.

This was recently posted on social media. I have sent a request to the witness for further information:

"I live in a townhouse in a super safe area (Burlington County, New Jersey). My yard is woods but we’re surrounded by main roads. I’ve lived there 3 years, my boyfriend moved in 8 months ago. I’m a very laid back person. Love horror, I lived alone and would sleep at night in the pitch dark with my back door open listening to true crime podcasts. I’ve NEVER believed in ghosts. (My boyfriend quickly nixed that) I’ve never been scared person. My boyfriend and I got a puppy about a month ago. Dealing with potty training, we were outside in pitch darkness with just a flash light every night. My yard is not fenced and all concrete so we’d go beyond my yard line into an open patch of grass about 15 feet from the woods. We’d be able to see the lights of the condos. But these woods are so dark, it’s like light disappears.

We were out one night around 3 am (puppy had to go) and I suddenly had a horrible feeling, like absolute dread. A second later I get chills and feel panicked and hear foot steps. I told my boyfriend let’s go inside. He asked why and I said just go. We went in, I sort of got over it. Fast forward to the next night, I almost forgot about what happened. It’s around 9:45/10 pm. My boyfriend and I are focused on the puppy with a flashlight making sure he goes when again I get that feeling. It’s like I turned into a deer because suddenly the woods got darker, the air got quieter and I just heard these footsteps. I turn to my boyfriend and say go inside now, just as I finished saying it my puppy starts screaming bloody murder and howling (he’s a Cane Corso puppy, so he’s not tough yet). We panic. My boyfriend swoops down to pick up the puppy and a bright light, literally blinding is shinning our face. We don’t see a person or anything. My boyfriend starts pushing me toward the house, we’re screaming at the top of our lungs. My dog pooped all over my boyfriend. We ran to the house for what felt like 10 minutes but in reality we were only about ten feet from our back door. As we got in I turn around and see no one, nothing. No one running away, no flashlights.

My boyfriend is an MMA fighter and he felt so stupid for not hanging back but he was so worried about getting the dog and I into the house he wasn’t thinking about anything else. This shook us. I was having panic attacks. We called the police. My boyfriend was shaking. The puppy to this day hates going out at night. We went out there the next day and saw two really big deep & far apart footsteps. Like someone had a super inhuman stride. The foot prints looked like they were heel first. The police noticed them as well but there was only 2.

Here’s the thing, we don’t think it was a person. We didn’t see a flashlight walking over. If it was someone walking a dog, a dog would of responded to the screaming my dog was making. My puppy is great with other animals, he has no fear of anything (besides the dark). We racked our brain over and over. We don’t have any enemies, we’re both pretty much introverts. It wasn’t a random psycho murderer because they had prime opportunity to hurt us and didn’t. The cops didn’t see any signs of someone staying in the woods. We checked as well.

Crazy thing is we’re in a townhouse. The houses around us, all confirmed they didn’t hear us screaming. Our one neighbor who doesn’t face us said he was looking out his window at 10 pm, he didn’t see us. We were so confused.

I have a Celtic deity I pray to. My house is very much a fortress to me. I love nature and my house is basically covered wall to wall with things that makes me feel good and safe (If you’re familiar with paganism you’ll know). When I was telling my friend, who is very into things that I don’t even know the word for about, what happened, his face went pale and he told me it sounded like we went into another dimension. The fact our neighbors didn’t see or hear us, the fact that our running felt so much longer than it was. He thinks because of the way I am in my home, whatever it was couldn’t follow us. Once we got in, the energy in my home wouldn’t allow it in.

My boyfriend, after a few days of setting up cameras and security measures, finally told me he didn’t think it was human. He said he felt like he was somewhere else, that when he started running even though we were so close to home, he had tunnel vision and the house seemed so far. Of course this could just be fear and adrenaline but I’ve never in my life have felt a fear like this. I’ve been in situations where my life has flashed before my eyes and nothing even comes close to the terror and dread I felt in my stomach. I’ve been having panic attacks for the last month without any fear except for the fear of having that feeling I felt again." F

The Coney Island 'Merman' Sightings

I found the following account in 'Broadbrim's New York Letter' printed in The Carbon Advocate (Lehightown, PA) for Saturday, December 12, 1885:

Our sister city, Brooklyn, is greatly exercised about a wild man of the sea, which, if the story is to be believed, would show that the mermen of the sea are not all dead. For ten days past a man has been seen on Coney Island beach, disporting himself in the briny waves as if they were his native element. The hair on his head reaches to his waist, and the yellow hair on his body is as long as a horse's mane. Many people have seen him at night walking along the sand, but as soon as he was approached he dashed into the breakers, and no one has seen him come out. But that he does come out is evident, for he has been seen by many, men and women. Towards night men go armed with hatchets and clubs for fear the wild man might grab them up and carry them into the sea. Women and children keep close indoors, and a reign of terror of this submarine hairy man has shaken New York's favorite watering place from turret to foundation stone. People are afraid to shoot him for fear they might possibly be indicted for killing a harmless lunatic. Hundreds are watching for the wild man of the sea, and I should not be surprised when he is caught to find that it was another ingenious device of that aquatic blatherskite, Captain Paul Boyton, to advertise his life-saving suit. If it is not Boyton it is the ----.

There were a number of bizarre sightings of many unexplained anomalies on Coney Island in the latter part of the 19th century. Here is some information about the aforementioned Captain Paul Boyton: 

The word 'blatherskite' means 'a person who talks at great length without making much sense' 'foolish talk; nonsense'. The description was used in reference to Captain Paul Boyton, known as the Fearless Frogman, who was a showman and adventurer who some credit as having spurred worldwide interest in water sports as a hobby, particularly open-water swimming. Boyton is best known for his water stunts that captivated the world, including crossing the English Channel in a novel rubber suit that functioned similarly to a kayak.

Just prior to the publishing of story, Boyton was involved in the fatal leap from Brooklyn Bridge of Robert Emmet Odlum, brother of women's rights activist Charlotte Odlum Smith. Catherine Odlum, mother of Robert and Charlotte, blamed Boyton for her son's death. Boyton wrote Mrs. Odlum a letter disclaiming responsibility, which he also published in The New York Times and other periodicals. Mrs. Odlum subsequently traveled to New York City to see Boyton. According to her account, Boyton sent two men to see her who claimed to be a lawyer and a judge, and who warned her not to say anything against Boyton to avoid prosecution for slander. Catherine Odlum claimed in the biography she wrote of her son that Boyton hid or destroyed letters and telegrams from himself to Robert Odlum urging him to travel to New York and make the Brooklyn Bridge jump.

The Washington Professor of Swimming, Robert Emmett Odlum, the Washington Professor of Swimming who was killed in his jump from the Brooklyn Bridge, New York, the 19th inst., has been suitably buried here. The death of this daring man and peerless swimmer has caused much regret among Washingtonians who merely knew the hero by sight reputation. A man of undoubted courage, frank, honest, generous, and enthusiast in the art he so devotedly pursued. Odium had many admirers, and few real friends. He had lost occupation by the burning of the National Theatre last February, and had doubtless suffered for want of the necessities of life, although he had saved a dozen lives. Embarrassed, desirous of fame only for money's sake he was driven to attempt a feat that, under more favorable circumstances, he might have postponed forever. - Western Sentinel (Winston, NC) - May 28, 1995

After the incident, Boyton left New York City and formed an aquatic circus, touring as the main act in Barnum's circus during 1887. He settled in Chicago in 1888 and noted the success of the attractions Midway at Chicago's Columbian Exposition of 1892. Building on this, in 1894, he opened the first "permanent" amusement park (Paul Boyton's Water Chutes) in Chicago, which was also the first park of any type to charge an admission. Strangely enough, he bought 16 acres of land and opened the Sea Lion Park on Coney Island in 1895, fenced the property and charged admission. It would later become Coney Island Amusement Park. Riley’s mentor, Dr. Meade Layne

Dr. Meade Layne (8 September 1882-12 May 1961), was the founder and first president of the Borderland Sciences Research Associates, from 1945-1959.  Born in Viroqua, Wisconsin, he grew up in San Diego, California.  Layne led a very eclectic life, to be sure.  Besides being a pioneer researcher of parapsychology and ufology, he sold office supplies, worked as a real estate agent, managed an oil and gas company and even wrote poetry.  Having a doctorate in English literature, Layne was also employed as a professor of such at the University of Southern California and later served as head of the English Department at Illinois Wesleyan University and Florida Southern College.  Among the emerging ufology community of the late 1940s, Layne was well-known for being among the first to propose an early version of the interdimensional hypothesis to explain sightings of flying saucers.  All along the way, he was assisted in his research by Riley H. Crabb, who assumed the presidency of the Borderland Sciences Research Associates in 1959 and continued with it until 1985, whence he retired and settled down with a new wife in New Zealand.

Realms of Etheria

Both Layne and Crabb were convinced that while some of the flying saucers did, indeed, represent either some type of advanced military or extraterrestrial technology, there was a substantial number of cases where an overlap with other types of paraphysical phenomena were noted.  For these cases, the leadership of the Borderland Sciences Research Associates speculated that the flying saucers involved were piloted by beings from a parallel dimension, which Layne and Crabb referred to as “Etheria.”  The vehicles they employed to reach our dimensional plane were not so much spaceships as “ether ships;” and these remained largely invisible unless the vibrational rate of their atomic structure was slowed down sufficiently for their craft to be seen by ourselves, the inhabitants of the terrestrial, or physical plane of existence.  At various lectures presented on the flying saucer enigma, Layne and Crabb informed their audiences that some Etherians were actually, but temporarily, living and working among us, having been trapped on our world following the malfunction or crashing of their ether ships while conducting reconnaissance in the vicinity of atomic and nuclear experimentation and testing sites.  Layne and Crabb were of the opinion that these Etherians and their ether ships were responsible for inspiring much of our world’s mythology and religion.  But these Etherians, in their estimation, were not gods or even angels, in the Biblical sense of these terms, but rather mortal beings with an extremely high level of technological and spiritual advancement, at least in comparison to our own cosmic evolution.  These beings possessed longevity extending over thousands of years, as time is measured on Earth.  Through select individuals with developed psychic abilities on our planet, the Etherians have, on occasion, revealed some of their accumulated wisdom to humankind.  In the Round Robin newsletter of the Borderland Sciences Research Associates, originally published out their headquarters in San Diego, California, but now moved to Eureka, California, members of the organization would share the content of such revelations they had personally received from sundry Etherians coming from the invisible realms parallel to our own reality.

 

Meade Layne at the Borderlands Sciences Research Associates hired the premier psychic of his era, Mark Probert, to channel various entities from the Etheric realms following the appearance of a vast mothership that passed over San Diego, California, on 9 October 1946.

Overcoming Barriers to Understanding

In Crabb’s Flying Saucers Uncensored, the paranormal researcher takes us back to 1 July 1955, when one of the Borderland Sciences Research Associates revealed an interesting dialog that he conducted with a so-called “Visitor” from the Etheric Realms.  He claimed that this visitor was not from another planet in outer space, but from the cavern world of Agartha in the interior of the Earth.  Concerning this interview, Crabb wrote, “If you think you are an intelligent person, fully capable of communicating with a visitor from another world, try this on for size.” In all probability, the Borderland Sciences channeler of this entity was none other than the premier psychic of the late 1940s and early 1950s, Mark Probert.   What follows is an abbreviated transcript of the actual conversation that took place between the channeler of the Borderland Sciences group and a denizen of Agartha:  

Human:  Can you tell us anything about the flying discs and similar objects?

Entity:  Yes, if it is lawful to tell and you are able to understand.  

Human:  Meade Layne says they are Etherians.  Some say they are from other planets or from our Earth.  Which is right?

Entity:  All of them.  There are many different objects which some people can see at times.  They come from other planets, from other planes of life, and some from places on this planet, places unknown to you.  

Human:  Then there are Etherians?

Entity:  Yes.

Human:  Are they human beings?

Entity:  Is steam water?  Is a mixture of gases water?

Human:  Well, not exactly.

Entity:  Yet steam can be produced from water, or converted into water.

Human:  I see.

Entity:  Somehow, I doubt it.

Human:  Can you communicate with Etherians at will?

Entity:  Yes, if we have reasons for doing so.  We do not waste time communicating, merely for amusement or to satisfy idle curiosity.  

Human:  How is this done?

Entity:  Exactly the same as I am now communicating with you.  It is a matter of converting or translating vibrational frequencies to establish rapport between two intelligences.  It is not necessary that these intelligences be embodied in corporeal flesh.  In fact, flesh is often a hindrance.  The real being of any entity is not what you see.  It clothes itself with the physical body just as the body does with physical garments.

Human:  Are their intentions friendly?

Entity:  That depends on your thoughts toward them.  As ye sow, so shall ye reap!  No person of good will need fear them.  No member of any truly great race will deliberately kill.  They do watch and they do try to prevent evil.  If you only realized that you are brother to every intelligent being in the universe.  There may be, at times, erring brothers and sisters; but they are still brothers and sisters.  

Human:  Do flying saucers or discs from other planets come here in what we would call normal flight?  Or is there a materialization and dematerialization as some have claimed?

Entity:  That depends on where they come from.  Those from nearby points come by what you would call normal flight.  Those from distant places are teleported here.  They are converted into pure energy at the place of origin and materialized back to their original form here.  Some humans have seen them during this process.

Etherians as trans-dimensional light beings.

Human:  Could you explain that a little more?

Entity:  I’ll explain it; but you won’t understand.  The first thing to be done is to isolate a cube of space.  This cube may be anything from inches to miles.  The effect is produced by the play of the mental force on etheric matter and consists in establishing a null or neutral zone of free space energies.  The boundaries of this cube are therefore shaped as may be desired.  Into this space area are then brought whatever mechanisms and instruments may be useful, in the region where the Guardians (Etherians who patrol interdimensional realms) desire the ship to operate.  

Human:  Is this done only by mind power?

Entity:  By both mental and mechanical means.  The next step is to “posit” the ship in space.  This is done by converting the energy rates.  A change of rates is equivalent to a change of location.

Human:  Then when they get here, why don’t the pilots of the saucers land and get acquainted with the people of this planet?

Entity:  Would you?

Human:  But there must be some among us worthy of contact?

Entity:  What leads you to believe such contacts have not been made?

Human:  I, uh, I just couldn’t believe it, at least those that I have read about.  Could you tell us how they go?  They don’t seem to have engines like our planes or our rockets.

Entity:  Your engineers and scientists would not recognize it if they saw it.  It is out of the range of their thinking at present.  The discs are powered with pure energy flows which permeate all space and all planets.  You know something about the results of these flows- electricity, light, heat, gravitation and so on.  But you know nothing about the source of these, the primary flows of energy in their pure form.  I cannot explain it to you.

Human:  Why not?

Entity:  Could you explain algebra or calculus to a three-year-old?

The Agarthan made an excellent point here.  It would be impossible to explain any form of higher mathematics to a three-year-old, unless, perchance, that youngster was a mathematical genius who carried that ability over from a prior incarnation.  But this is precisely what the leaders Layne, Crabb and others in the Borderland Sciences Research Associates had been trying to do since the organization was established in San Diego, California, in 1946.  To understand the circumstances surrounding the foundation of Borderland Sciences and the flying saucer flap that ensued with the appearance of a vast mothership over San Diego in that fateful year, please check out pages 158-206 of my first book in the current series, Venus Rising:  A Concise History of the Second Planet (Terra Alta, West Virginia:  Headline Books, 2015).  The close ties between Meade Layne and others in Borderland Sciences with the most prominent contactee of the age of flying saucers, George Adamski, are also explored in that particular Venus Rising book.  

In some of the Venus conferences, I have shared panels with others that have established contact with our Venusian friends in the Etheric realms, Omnec Onec of the United States and the Bolivian seer Luis Fernando Mostajo Maertens.  While Riley Crabb is no longer physically with us, I feel privileged to be working closely with our dear Sister Omnec and Brother Luis in transmitting the higher dimensional message of hope from the Etheric realm of Venus to all the readers of my articles and books, thereby playing some small part in helping to overcome the barriers to understanding that have hitherto been impeding a direly needed understanding of those entities inhabiting the higher dimensional yet invisible planes of existence that completely surround and bless us on a daily basis.  

When I think about the Guardians sent from the inner world Agartha and even other planets like Venus existing at high vibrations that have come to Earth in the capacity of avatars to assist us in our cosmic evolution, the words of wise King David of Israel in Psalm 91:11 (King James Version) immediately come to mind: “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Numerous UFO Sightings Are Being Reported in the Pittsburgh Area and From Across Pennsylvania. March 29, 2021

From Researcher: Stan Gordon:

There has been a surge of UFO sightings reported from the greater Pittsburgh area as well as from other locations in the state in recent weeks. I have been receiving an increase in direct reports of strange aerial objects being observed in the sky in recent weeks. UFO incidents have also been reported to other sources as well. This wave of UFO reports seems to have started during late February and is continuing to be active in recent days.

*In early March, three white circular lights in a triangular configuration were reported from Cambria county. The objects were observed for a few minutes then suddenly vanished.

*There have also been reports of triangular shaped objects from other locations.

*A daylight observation of  a large black rectangular object was reported from Bedford county.

*Reports of large glowing spherical objects, some seen at low level and close to homes.

*Bright objects moving straight up into the night sky and disappearing.

*Sightings of small spheres of light that are close to the ground are continuing to be reported.

*Residents from different locations are reporting that unusual luminous objects are being recorded on their game and security cameras.

*Dan Hageman of the BORU (Butler Organization for Research of the Unexplained)  http://www.boru-ufo.com/ reports that there have been multiple reports of fireballs and spheres all over Butler county during March.

The following are some of the cases Dan is investigating:

March 2- A witness reported seeing three shiny silver spheres moving from west to east in a straight line. They looked shiny, silver in color, and glowing. They looked equally spaced apart and were moving very fast. The witness watched them as they moved off in the distance.

March 8- A witness observed a shiny bright cigar-shaped object in the morning sky. The sky was generally clear with some fluffy clouds around. The object did not appear to have any wings or a tail section. The witness indicated that the object was so bright he had to squint his eyes to view it. The witness, who was very familiar with aircraft, stopped his vehicle and got out to take a better look at the object. The object moved into a cloud better never exited from it.

March 11- A man was in his kitchen during the evening when he began to feel a strange vibration and heard a low rumble. He then realized that the sliding glass door to his deck was vibrating. As he looked out the door, the man noticed a very bright and very large pulsating round object just above the trees at the edge of his yard. The light from the object illuminated his backyard as though it was in the middle of the day. He stepped out on the deck and was awe struck by what he saw. At that time, he felt a tingling sensation, his hair stood up on end, and he had chill bumps on his body. He called to his wife and he hurried inside to get a camera but when he returned it was gone.

March 18- A person driving on Route 8 near Butler observed yellow-white blinking lights just above some trees. The lights were on the bottom of each corner of a large silver triangular object that appeared to be hovering. The object began to move up above the trees. The witness was going to pull over and take a picture, but the object had disappeared.

I also received a UFO report that occurred on March 18th during the evening from another location in Butler county. The witness was traveling down the road when he saw in the distance a large round orange sphere. The object was gliding off to the left through the sky. It was about 200 feet off the ground and would alternate in brightness and change from orange to a white color.

In recent days, witnesses in a wooded area of Fayette county observed a brilliant orange luminous object in the treetops that moved up and down and suddenly vanished. Soon after, unusual sounds were heard from the woods.

Other strange incidents have also been reported since January from various locations in the state.

Toddler's 'Upright Rectangular' Pupils Stuns Witness!

A retired eye surgical nurse recalls an encounter that they had with a woman and her toddler son. The boy had blue-colored upright rectangular pupils. Afterwards, the witness' life spiraled out of control.

The following report was recently posted on the MUFON CMS:

My name is RD. I am a 73 year old retired surgical nurse, with over 35 years of medical experience and ten years of eye surgery practice (in Missouri). 3 years before retiring, I was getting ready to start my shift, (lunch relief for surgical personnel), just out of the shower in my robe, when the doorbell rang. I could see a young woman with a baby holding religious tracts at the door. I knew they were Jehovah's Witnesses. I opened the door to a pleasant blonde young lady with a 1-1 1/2 year old toddler boy.

As she started the Jehovah's Witness spiel, handing me tracts, I looked at her baby from less than 2 feet away, and could plainly and clearly see the pupils of that boy were upright rectangles and looking right at my blinking-in-disbelief face. I moved myself slightly to one side in front of the two, to rule out a weird reflection from my point of view in the morning light. His beautiful blue rectangular-pupiled eyes tracked my movements and widened. This boy was absolutely perfectly normal-appearing in every other respect, in fact he was a perfect little blue-eyed blond Caucasian-type kid. I was at a loss for words then, as shock was starting to well up in me, but I did manage to hint to the mom that I was focused on his eyes.

I said, "Your boy has the most unique eyes I've ever seen."

She replied, :He has his father's eyes," turned with the boy and walked to their car in my driveway, as I remained in stunned silence.

What had I seen? Before I became an O.R. nurse, I worked 5 years in psychiatry and I have never come across a case where someone has had one and only one instance of visual hallucination in their lifetime. I am certain this was not a hallucination. As far as medical matters go, I am an expert witness, trained to understand anatomy, especially eye anatomy after having participated in well over a thousand cases. What I saw was real enough to reach out and touch.

The mental and social problems I have encountered dealing with this event I never asked for, forced me to retire early, bankrupted me, put me into analysis and isolated me further from many of my friends.

Let me be clear. I have always believed in the probability ET's interact with humans and have visited the planet and explored this as one of the many scientific interests I have continued to maintain throughout my career as a surgical nurse. I have a B.A. in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and did two years post-grad in Microbiology at St. L.U. I've had my own archaeology club, inspired by my friend and fellow researcher, Michael Cremo, who I later worked with on the Pleistocene Coalition Newsletter, writing articles about 19th-century British Archaeology.

The event derailed all of that, and took over my life. I'm a totally lone observer, no photo and no credibility. I really am at a loss about what I can possibly do, except to report to you all. I realize I can't be believed. But what I've related to you is true. ET must be the author/engineer behind it.

Going into the eye anatomy concerning the pupillary appearance of the human eye, the ciliary muscles that anchor inside the sclera to dilate or constrict the pupil are not capable of producing an upright rectangular opening like a stage curtain. No eye on this planet is like that. No eye on the planet has that upright pupil, none. This is an eye capable of taking in vertical visual data like a cell phone camera adjusts to short-wide or narrow-tall photo fields.

One of the eye malformations I had to check before I did any thinking after I saw the boy, was coloboma, which is a failure of the iris to form a closed donut all the way around the pupil, usually leading to a keyhole or cat's eye appearance. This condition is part of a syndrome of fetal malformations that include occult transposition of internal organs, and severe retardation. I found this information and, doing my duty as a nurse, contacted the family gently to share a concern that there might be a problem. The reaction was that there was indeed nothing abnormal or unusual about the boy; they were quite insistent, and I had to back off.

At that immediate time, right after the incident, I was questioning any further pursuit, and certainly no help or resources to do anything. Because I was agitated about my situation of never being able to prove this, and it was affecting my job performance, I consented to therapy, on a made-up excuse of depression, taking anti-depressant meds to the point of numbness, really losing my religion if I ever had one. I couldn't in good conscience continue O.R., work, or any nursing. So, I quit, went bankrupt, went off all meds, had a heart attack (got a stent, it's OK), and was forced to slow down, finally having time to think.

What I can't figure out is why I saw this example of human engineering. I already believed ET's were real. I knew, from the related experience of Jim Penniston at Rendlesham AFB, on Christmas night 1980, that the message he received from touching the craft: Exploration of Humanity for Planetary Advancement, might represent a very close and personal 'exploration of humanity'.

I realize this isn't evidence, but it is very like the report of a lone pilot in a plane transported through a vortex and losing time. If anyone else has a report that's anything like mine, could you please let me know? Could you please email back to me? This IS true. The reality of altered humans has not been a topic of investigation because of its apparent rarity. If it is rare, I shouldn't have seen it. I hope it is understood that changing the iris configuration requires novel DNA to be inserted into the human genome at or near the time of conception, as far as biology understands this mechanism. Even with our gene-splicing, we can only use existing genes. We cannot create genes that manifest cellular structures of anywhere near the complexity of iris cells, or all the mechanisms to control and operate such structures. This isn't anywhere near human technical capability.

Please write, please put me in touch with somebody that can help me make sense of this really unique but very damaging occurrence."

Mermen & Aquatic Humanoids Reported in the Caspian Sea

There have been recent rumors that the Government of Iran has launched an investigation of the Runan-shah after several sightings of a 'merman' by fisherman in the Caspian Sea.

There has been recent interest in mermaids and if there's a possibility, in some capacity, that these are actual living creatures.

For several years, residents of coastal areas around the southern and southwestern Caspian Sea have been reporting of an amphibious creature resembling a human being. In March 2005 an eyewitness account from the crew of the Baku, an Azeri trawler, was published by Iranian newspaper Zindagi: “That creature was swimming parallel course near the boat for a long time,” said Gafar Gasanof, a captain of the ship.

“At the beginning we thought it was a big fish, but then we spotted hair on the head of the monster and his fins looked pretty strange. It sounded ridiculous to those who thought that the guy must have been drinking while on board.

On the contrary, shortly after the publication of his interview, the offices of the Iranian paper got flooded with numerous letters of the readers who claimed that the story was yet another piece of evidence proving the existence of the so-called “man of the sea.” The readers pointed out that many fishermen had repeatedly seen the strange creature at sea and on shore after the seabed volcanoes in the area of Babolsera had come to life in February and offshore oil production operations had intensified in the Caspian.

All the eyewitness accounts provide a similar description of the marine humanoid. His height is 165-168 cm, he has a strong build, a protruding ctenoid stomach, his feet are pinniped and he has four webbed fingers on either of his hands. His skin is of moonlight color. The hair on his head looks black and green. His arms and legs are shorter and heavier than those of a medium-built person. Apart from his fingernails, he has nails growing on the tip of his aquiline nose that look like a dolphin's beak. No information as to his ears. His eyes are large and orbicular. The mouth of the creature is fairly large, his upper jaw is prognathic and his lower lip flows smoothly into the neck, his chin is missing.

Iranians dubbed the creature Runan-shah or “the master of the sea and rivers.” The name is partly based on stories about large shoals of fish accompanying the creature at sea. Other stories refer to the waters that would turn crystal clear and stay that way for two or three days after the creature was seen swimming in those areas. Fishermen claim that fishes that stay alive for a while in the net can feel the creature coming out of the deep blue sea. Fishes were reported producing barely heard gurgling sounds as the monster came near. He was said to answer the call of the catch by making similar throaty sounds.

Some researchers believe that there is no smoke without fire and the stories circulating in Iran can be true. Besides, Runan-shah was seen by Azeri fishermen living in the villages located between the cities of Astara and Lenkoran. According to a theory, the creature is not alone; there is a family of underwater humans who are on a mission ... to tackle environmental problems of the Caspian.

The Caspian Runan-shah is not the only species of underwater humans on record. Both Herodotus and Plato believed that original human beings were amphibious and might have founded an underwater state.

A book of collected scientific articles titled “The Universe and Humankind” that was published in St. Petersburg in 1905 contains a story of “marine female” caught in the Caribbean. It also has stories about dead bodies of the amphibious humans washed ashore in the Azores in 1876. Their descriptions largely correspond with the reported description of Runan-shah.

An amphibious humanlike being was reported in Karelia in 1928. The creature was repeatedly seen in the lake of Vedlozero by local residents. A group of researchers from the Petrozavodsk University arrived to investigate the case on location. Unfortunately, the findings were classified and the members of the research party eventually perished in the Gulag.

According to latest reports in the media, Iranians have already started their research of the Caspian phenomenon. The international scientific community might as well help unravel the mystery if politics do not get in the way of science this time around.

THE "BAKU" TRAWLER REPORTS

NOTE: I found 2 independent sighting reports filed by the Azerbaijani government and BBS News. Not a great difference in the reports which may indicate that the witnesses were consistent. Information is somewhat scarce in reference to other sightings of this creature which is not surprising. The Caspian Sea holds a great number of sturgeon (4 different species) that can become quite large and be mistaken for the creature. Though, you would think a fisherman would know the difference. Residents of a few towns on the Caspian shores in Iran and Azerbaijan say they have seen an amphibious man, he was reported to be swimming amidst huge shoals of fish. Rumor has it that the waters where he swam were becoming sparkling clear. Recently eyewitnesses onboard the Azeri trawler, “Baku” reported seeing the creature. According to Gafar Gasanof the captain of the trawler, the creature was swimming in a parallel course near the boat for a long time. At first they thought it was a large fish, but then they spotted hair on its head and his fins looked very unusual. And incredibly the front part of his body was equipped with arms. Shortly after this report was published in an Iranian newspaper, numerous readers came forward describing their own sightings. The readers pointed out that numerous fishermen had repeatedly seen the strange creature at sea and on the shore after seabed volcanoes in the area of Babolsera became active in February and offshore oil production operations intensified in the Caspian. The Astrakhan fishermen have long complained about the decrease in the stock of sturgeon.

Azerbaijani fishermen from the trawler “Baky” (Baku) were stunned to see a weird entity in the water. The entity swam for a long period of time near the trawler, parallel to it, reported Gafar Gasanov Captain of the ship to the local newspaper “Zindagi” when he arrived at the Iranian port of Enzeli. At first the crew thought that the entity was some type of unknown large fish, but soon they noticed that the entity’s head had distinct hairs on it and the front fins were not fins at all but webbed hands. They acknowledged that the entity looked more like a humanoid than any kind of known fish. They all concluded that they had never seen something like it in the waters. The amphibian entity then plunged deep into the waters and disappeared from sight. When Captain Gasanov returned to Azerbaijan people there refused to talk to him about the incident alleging that he and his crew had all been drunk. But the Iranians took the report seriously because of numerous rumors about “a man from the sea” were circulating in Iran long before this report. After publication in the local newspaper “Zindagi” local Iranian residents wrote numerous letters to the newspaper reporting their own encounters with a similar entity. The common opinion was that underwater volcanic activity in the area of Babolser and the intensification of oil extraction in the Caspian Sea has somehow caused unknown deep water dwellers to venture up to the surface. The entity is shorter than that of the average height, about 165-168cm, thickset, with a protruding belly, feet with flippers, and 4 fingered webbed hands. The skin is pale yellowish gray in color and it has stiff black-green hair. Arms and legs are slightly shorter and thicker than that of humans. Sharp nails grow on its hands and also at the tip of its hump-shaped nose, forming something like a dolphin’s beak. The ears are not visible. The eyes are big and round and the mouth is quite big with a protruding upper jaw, smoothly connected to the neck, without chin, the smaller lip is similar to that of a shark’s jaw. In Iran this amphibian humanoid is called “Runah-Shah” which means, “Sovereign of waters and rivers”. Interestingly the fishermen have noticed that the fish seemed to react when the entity appears, like if there were some kind of distant, extra sensory communication between the entity and the fish. Other witnesses reported seeing the same or similar entity in May between the small fishing villages of Astara and Lenkoran.

In ancient mythology, the Caspian Sea also has its own Atlantis that appears to have disappeared in the waters. The fabled city of Ithil might be one of them. This flourishing city built on the 9th century in the coast of Northern Dagestan was the capital of the Khazar Khaganat. But the city simply suddenly vanished.

Ithil echoes the story of Sabayil castle, whose remains lies under the water. Sabayilis mentioned in the Quran, Muslim holy book, as being located in the land of Saba. There were people worshipping the Sun and because of their disobedience to God, their land was submerged by the waters. Sabayil can also be linked to a story involving Alexander the Great. The Macedonian king was willing to conquer a city with a splendid castle by the Caspian Sea. Unable to gain the consent of the inhabitants, Alexander sought the advice of Aristotle who pointed out that the city and castle were built on a large rock over the city. Thus, a special liquid was made in order to dissolve the rock, resulting in the flooding of the city.

Many other local myths have nourished stories about the Caspian Sea. Hidden treasures are said to be hidden all over the coast by the Cossack leader Stenka Razin, after his pillage of the Caspian Coast. These stories find their origin in the nature of the Caspian Sea, which is an unusual object of wonders as well as a natural paradise.

Cryptid Beast Stalks Appalachian Family in Southwest Virginia

A man from Scott County, Virginia describes a cryptid creature that seemed to stalk the area around his Appalachian home. The beast later killed and mutilated his dog.

The following account was recently found on social media:

"We lived in a house that had an outhouse in Scott County, Virginia about 20 years ago. No indoor toilet. We had running water but just couldn't get a proper septic system in there. The outhouse was up the hill a ways, about 30 yards. This was in a valley. The nearest neighbor was roughly 4 miles away. Good luck if you need an emergency service. We had 3 dogs, biggest of all was a Lab mixed named Boo Bear. I'm going to split this up so its not a wall of text.

Boo was a very loyal and territorial dog. Didn't matter what time of day it was he'd go with you up to the outhouse and sit outside. This was normal behavior for years. I'm getting goosebumps thinking about him and welling up with tears. He was a damned good dog. One night my Mom needed to go and he went with her. We'd normally just walk up and do our business and head back and go back to sleep. We had no AC, just windows and fans.

Boo followed Mom up there and this time he was between Mom and the woods. There was a solid tree line around the house that you couldn't see into, at all. I've hunted it, but I'd get my ass back to the house before it got even close to dark. Boo felt or heard something. The more my Mom tried to get up the more he was growling. He had never behaved this way. My Mom, a devout Baptist, swears on the bible that she heard what sounded like grunting coming out of the woods. She could feel something either stomping or punching the ground. Think of punching dough, it had that thud. That's what she described it as. My Mom was raised by some serious hillbillies and isn't scared of anything in the woods so she forced her way up there. She thought it was a deer as they'll do that in rut season.

Boo set out there growling and she said every hair he had on him was standing up straight. He wasn't barking, she could feel his growling, like I don't know how to describe, like you feel bass from a subwoofer. She got done and came back to the house. No other issues that night.

A few nights later a friend was staying at my house. He was the one that was with me when we saw whatever it was that we saw. This was actually prior to this by a year or two. He grew up poor like us, but he was a good dude. His Mom and Dad were great.

Anyway, it's about 11 or 11:30 PM, it was Friday or Saturday because we had a 10 pm bed time on weeknights and we were playing Killer Instinct on N64. Man, when I say this scared me. We heard a scream, and felt a noise come from the woods about 150 yards up that mountain. I got goosebumps coming up like crazy right now. I kept playing thinking that my brain is playing tricks on me. 5 minutes later it happened again. This time it was maybe 75 to 100 yards up and it was heading down. I stopped and asked RG if he heard that and he said, "F*ck yeah, I heard it the first damn time too."

Fight or flight kicked in and we were in a panic. I checked on my Mom and my little brother and both were fine. I woke my little brother up and told him what was going on and we grabbed our rifles. I only had a 30/06, RG had my 20 gauge and LB, little brother, had a .22. We parked our asses in the room we were in when we first heard it. When I say my heart was racing, if it was doing the 100 meter dash.

We didn't hear anything for 30 minutes. Just nothing. We had the windows open due to no AC and we had the fans off. We started hearing a noise coming from the woods. Just walking. It sounded like something was slowly plodding down the ridge to the house. I know it was no cat. You will never hear a big cat. I've had cougars surprise me and I never heard a thing. This was big. It was making a lot of racket.

We just kept sitting there, ears on alert. Then, SCREAM again! This one shook our windows, literally. Everything shook. There was nothing at that point we could have done. It was within 25 yards or our house and we were petrified. Boo was just pacing back and forth. He wanted to get out. I didn't want him to go and neither did LB or RG. He was our safety blanket in that moment. We decided to just hang out in there and we started hearing the grunting. All I can say is I've heard deer in rut. This was way too guttural. This freaking feeling of dread came over all of us. We all started balling. We legit felt like we were going to die.

Mom finally woke up and came in there. She saw us all holding our guns and she was like WTF are you all doing. I put my hand up to my face, she seen we were crying and I put my index finger to my mouth to shush her.

The grunting kept going. Louder and louder. Then the pounding started. It wasn't hitting a tree or anything, it was hitting the ground. Like punching the sh*t out of it. We could feel each hit.

Mom said this was what she had heard the other night but that she didn't think much of it. This seriously scarred me. The grunting and pounding stopped. Mom decided to send Boo out. Nikki and Bella, our other dogs didn't move. Boo was just a bad ass and we were his family. He beelined it up there.

That was it. We heard one yelp and nothing. We didn't hear anything else that night. For several days it was that way.

Boo was gone and we were all shook up. I think it was 5 or 6 days later, my stepdad went to use the outhouse and laying next to the building was Boo. I swear on my life that this dog was literally torn apart. There were no bite marks, it wasn't a cat. He had literally been ripped apart limb from limb.

I don't know what it was. Could have been a bear, I don't know. I know that we moved out of there a month later and that damned place can't keep people in it anymore. I can't say that I smelled anything or anything like that. Definitely one of the worst experiences of my life." R

Hex-meister: The Dark Side of Folk Magick

For those folks who listened to last night's show with haunting survivor and author Patrick Meechan and who are a bit confused by our references to Pow-wow and folk magick, the following information should help to explain some of the conversation.

Patrick's book is titled 'Nightmare in Holmes County' and is one man's journey through Hell on Earth.  Imagine a nightmare in which your darkest fears are coming true. Your life seems to spiral further towards Hell with each passing day, yet you can't wake up. You're constantly dominated by unthinkable circumstances as everything you hold dear is in danger of being torn from your grip, and the lines are blurred between the natural and the paranormal. You're entrenched in a spiritual battle against ancient curses, and the satanism and witchcraft practiced by those around you. This Hell was in the heart of Amish country. Though the story seems impossible, it is true to real life and this Second Edition includes even more evidence to support these claims.

In Webster’s dictionary, witchcraft is defined as the act or instance of employing sorcery, especially with malevolent intent: a magical rite or technique. The religious will say if you believe in God, and believe in what the Bible says, then you must believe in the powers of evil as well. You cannot take one side and then completely discount the other side. Basically, evil power is real and witchcraft is the use of it. In reality, though, there is a very fine line between good and evil.

When it came to folk magic or witchcraft in my neck of the woods, Pow-wow was the preferred mystic art. Pow-wow is a unique combination of Christian theology and shamanistic belief. Shamanism is the oldest form of religion and the belief is that there is one Supreme Being. That all is derived from this and is interrelated. In Europe, Shamanic practitioners were persecuted as witches in the name of orthodox religion. It is still practiced in some rural areas of Pennsylvania, though it has been outlawed for several generations. In spite of the name, it is not of Native American derivation. The name comes from the book Pow-wows, or, The Long Lost Friend, written by John George Hohman and first published in German as Der Lange Verborgene Freund in 1820. The subtitle of the booklet hints at the breadth of its contents...a collection of mysterious and invaluable arts and remedies for man as well as animals with many proofs of their virtue and efficacy in healing diseases, etc. It was recognized mainly by Pennsylvania Dutch hex-meisters but after the translation to English in 1846, it had a tremendous influence on the commoner folk magicians of the Appalachians. This little book includes healing spells, binding spells, protective spells, wards and benedictions. Though I’m not a religious person, I am spiritual (and a bit superstitious. I’ll cover that later) and always have my copy of 'The Long Lost Friend' near me. It’s my personal talisman.

All religions have an upside and a downside. The downside of the Judeo-Christian tradition is Satanism. The downside of Pow-wow was corruption by practitioners, the hex-meisters, who would cast spells or hexes on anyone for a price. Hex-meisters were deeply feared by most people from all walks of life. These German immigrants came to Pennsylvania during the late 1800s and unlike the regular practitioners of Pow-wow, who were mainly of lower class and came here for religious freedom, these newcomers were of the middle and upper classes. There was, at the time, a revival of occultism in Europe, some of which was Satanic. This first wave of immigrant Germans brought this influence with them and became better known as the Pennsylvania Dutch.

In 1895, John Blymire was born in York County, Pa., into the world of witchcraft, magick and superstition. His father and grandfather were Pow-wows and he inherited their healing abilities, but not the strength of their skills. When Blymire was five, he suffered from opnema, a wasting away of the body that was believed to be caused by hexes, but was usually caused by poor diet and malnutrition. Neither his grandfather nor father could cure him, so they took him to a powerful Pow-wow healer named Nelson Rehmeyer who eventually cured him.

At age seven, Blymire attempted his first cure and was successful. He was of limited intelligence, homely and only modestly successful as a Pow-wow. People avoided him, except when they needed his Pow-wow skills. Because of this, Blymire was very lonely.

When he was thirteen, he quit school and worked in a cigar factory in York, Pa. He kept to himself, but word got out that he could heal. He supplemented his cigar factory earnings by accepting voluntary offerings for his work as a Pow-wow.

One day, there was an incident that should have made his reputation as a powerful Pow-wow. When work was done, Blymire and the other workers were leaving the factory when someone screamed that a "mad" dog was approaching. A collie, foaming at the mouth, was coming toward them. People tried to go inside the factory, but those leaving blocked their way. Blymire stood between them and the rabid dog, uttered an incantation and made the sign of the cross over the dog's head. The dog's mouth stopped foaming and it seemed to be cured of rabies. Blymire patted it on the head and the dog, tail wagging, followed him as he walked down the street.

Shortly after this incident, Blymire suffered from the opnema again. He was convinced someone had put a hex on him, possibly a jealous Pow-wow who did not want him to be successful. He quit his job in order to discover who had hexed him. He worked in odd jobs and practiced Pow-wow for financial survival and lived in rooming houses. It was at a rooming house where he met Lily, the woman who would become his wife. His health gradually improved and he found a regular job. His Pow-wow clientele steadily increased and it appeared the hex was removed or no longer worked.

Then disaster struck. Blymire's first child died within a few weeks after birth. Then a second child passed away three days after birth. In the meantime, his health declined and he lost his job.

Again, Blymire consulted with other witches to find out who had hexed him. One was Andrew C. Lenhart, a powerful witch who was feared by many police and city officials. Lenhart stated that he was hexed by someone close to him and Blymire was convinced it was Lily. She began to fear him and her father hired a lawyer who had Blymire evaluated by a psychiatrist. The diagnosis was borderline psychoneurosis. Blymire was committed to a state mental hospital from which he escaped by walking out of the door. There was no effort to recommit him.

In 1928, Blymire returned to work at the cigar factory where he met 14-year-old John Curry who had a cruel childhood due to abuse and believed he was hexed. Shortly after this, they met a farmer, Milton J. Hess who believed he was hexed. He and his wife were of Pennsylvania Dutch stock. They obeyed all of the regulations and rules hex-meisters gave them. Milton had been a successful farmer. Crops flourished, chickens laid the right amount of eggs and the cows' milk was plentiful. His wife, Alice had a stand at the farmer's market, where she sold vegetables, flowers and fruit.

Hess explained that in 1926, for no apparent reason, things took a downward spiral. Crops began to fail, chickens were stolen and those that weren't did not lay eggs, cows would not eat and no longer produced milk. Milton's health was also severely affected. Wilbert, his 17-year-old son was also affected, psychologically, by hearing his father complain about the failures and lack of money and his mother changing from an energetic cheerful woman into a sad and silent one who withdrew from communicating with family. The family was convinced they were hexed. Hess got a job as a truck driver and Alice still had her stand, now, out of financial necessity.

In June, 1928, Hess met Blymire who lived in the Widow Detwiler's boarding house in an alley. They would talk daily and the conversation, eventually, turned to hexes. About this time, Blymire consulted Nellie Noll, who was known as the ‘Witch of Marietta’, also as the ‘River Witch’ in the attempt to discover who had hexed him. She told him that it was the ‘Witch of Rehmeyer Hollow.' After much coaxing from Blymire, she named Nelson D. Rehmeyer.

Hess invited Blymire, as a ‘Pow-wower’ or ‘Braucher’, to his farm where the witch could see its condition for himself. He asked Blymire who had hexed the family, but he could not remember the name, so he visited Nellie Noll again. Again, she named Nelson D. Rehmeyer and added that Rehmeyer had also hexed Curry. She told him that all they had to do was to get Rehmeyer's copy of John George Hohman's 'Pow-wows or Long Lost Friend' and burn it. If they could not do that, they must get a lock of his hair and bury it 6 to 8 feet underground.

Once Blymire, Curry and the Hesses knew who had hexed them and what had to be done, there was a conference. Attending this meeting were Blymire, Curry and Milton, older brother Clayton and Wilbert Hess. Soon, plans were made for Blymire, Curry and Wilbert Hess to visit Rehmeyer and get a lock of hair or the book, do as they were directed and the hex would be removed. Clayton, the only family member who had a car, would drive them to the hollow. As events happened, Wilbert said he did not feel well and did not want to go. Blymire said it was OK if he did not. He and Curry would get the book or the lock of hair and would do what they had to.

The following information was taken from trial transcripts and records:

Nelson D. Rehmeyer, the 'Witch of Rehmeyer Hollow'

When they got to Rehmeyer's house, they discovered he was not home. They walked to the witch's ex-wife's house and saw a light through the window, so they knocked on the door. The duo was told that Rehmeyer was probably at his lady friend’s house. They walked back to the witch's house and noticed a light on the second floor.

Blymire knocked on the door. Rehmeyer opened the door...he was much larger than Blymire remembered and was mean looking. Blymire asked if they could come in and Rehmeyer led them to the parlor where they sat and started to talk.

Blymire asked Rehmeyer if he had seen the book. The response was yes. The next question was if he had one. Again, the answer was affirmative. Blymire was satisfied with the answers. The conversation, then, turned to more mundane topics. Finally, Rehmeyer asked them why they had stopped by. Blymire told him that he had cured him of the opnema when he was a child and he had worked by picking potatoes for him.

Blymire, while they talked, try to mentally will Rehmeyer to hand over the book, but this was not effective. After a while, Rehmeyer said he was going to bed and they could sleep downstairs if they wanted to.

Curry quickly fell asleep while Blymire stayed awake trying to will the old witch to give them the book. Finally, he woke Curry and told him that he could not control Rehmeyer's mind. Should they try to use force and make him give them the book or a lock of hair? Blymire decided against this because the old witch was a big man and could easily overpower them. He decided they needed help.

That morning, Rehmeyer got up early and made the duo breakfast before they left. At some point, they bought a 25 foot length of strong rope and cut it into lengths of about 14 inches.

On Wednesday, November 27th, 1928, the night of the full moon and eve before Thanksgiving, Clayton drove the trio to Rehmeyer's Hollow. The three walked to Rehmeyer's house.

They demanded that he give them the book. He threw his wallet at them. Then, the three attacked Rehmeyer. Blymire wrapped a length of rope around Rehmeyer's neck. The trio fought savagely with the old man...Curry got a block of wood and hit Rehmeyer in the head. The old man was kicked in the head and the stomach and his face was battered. Blymire said he groaned, took a few breaths, then died.

They ransacked the house and found a small amount of money. The trio decided they had to get rid of the evidence that would tie them into the murder. Curry thought setting fire to the house would achieve this. They lit matches and dropped them in the house to set the fire. The house was smoldering when they left.

The house did not burn as they thought it would. A neighbor, Oscar Glatfelter, was passing by Rehmeyer's house on November 30th and heard his mule braying. When the man checked on the animal, he saw it had not been fed. Glatfelter knocked on the door and there was no answer, but the door was unlocked. After the neighbor entered the house, he saw Rehmeyer's corpse lying on the floor.

It did not take the police long to arrest Blymire, Curry and Wilbert for the murder of Rehmeyer. All three confessed and Blymire said he was at peace now that he had killed the witch. The newswire services informed the public that a practicing witch had been killed in York County, Pa.

The trials began on January 9th, 1929. Judge Sherwood presided. District Attorney Amos W. Herrmann represented the commonwealth. Public defenders Walter W. VanBaman represented Curry and Herbert B. Cohen, Blymire. The Hess family could afford to hire Harvey A. Gross, the best criminal defense attorney in the area.

Judge Sherwood decreed that all mention of hexes and witchcraft in the confessions be edited out before they were admitted to records. The attempts of the defense attorneys to make hexes and witchcraft a matter of record via testimony were quashed.

Herrmann made his opening statements, avoiding all mention of witchcraft and hexes and forgot to mention the motive for the murder that the judge wanted. He was sharply reminded of this. The decreed motive was robbery and, then, was stated.

When Cohen tried to bring out testimony about witchcraft, the judge thwarted his efforts.

The trials were the some of the speediest in Pennsylvania history. By obstruction of justice, the judge got what he wanted, guilty verdicts, Blymire and Curry, murder in the first degree and Hess, murder in the second degree.

The sentences were handed down on January 14th. Blymire and Curry were given life in prison and Wilbert was given 10 to 20 years. In 1934, Hess and Curry were paroled and lived quiet lives in the York area. Curry became an artist and died in 1962. Blymire was finally paroled in 1953, returned to York and worked as a janitor.

The Hex House in Rehmeyer Hollow, East Hopewell Township, York County, Pa.
This case has always intrigued me, especially after I read Arthur Lewis’ account of the incident in his book ‘Hex’. I also remember the tales of paranormal activity in Rehmeyer Hollow and the reports of strange apparitions, said to be Nelson Rehmeyer’s spirit, roaming the property nightly.

During my senior year in high school, I decided to make a short trip to Rehmeyer Hollow to see what all the fuss was. I had found a copy of Pow-Wows: Long Lost Friend, a Collection of Mysteries and Invaluable Arts and Remedies[image error] and decided to carry it with me. Like I said earlier, I’m a bit superstitious and thought the book may protect me in some way.

I made the journey alone in mid October 1975. It was late afternoon when I arrived at a locked gate that was suspended over the access road that had a ‘No Trespassing’ sign attached to it. At that time, the sparse open areas were overgrown with briers and high weeds. The woods were very thick and dark and as I started walking on the road I could make out the roof of the small house jutting over the trees. As I approached, I noticed what looked like an older man in dark pants and a jacket standing on the road near the bend that led to the house, I estimated he was about 150 feet in front of me. It looked like he was searching for something because he was looking face down in a peculiar manner.

I stopped walking and stood for a few seconds watching this person go back and forth across the road, never raising their head. So I decided it was time to find out if this was a caretaker or if it was OK for me proceed any further even though I knew was trespassing.

I shouted “hello...sir”. No response. So I was about to shout again thinking this person was hard of hearing or possibly ignoring me. Just as I began to open my mouth to shout, this person quickly looked up and....

Now, I realize that I was a fair distance away but this ‘person’ that, I swear to this day, had no facial features. No eyes, no mouth, no nose. Just a head. I spun around and hauled my butt back to the car. The ghost hunt was over. I wheeled my Mustang out of that hollow onto the main road in record time. Honestly, I don’t remember the drive home. I was absolutely stunned by the experience.

A few days later, my girlfriend and I were in my room and she found ‘The Long Lost Friend’ on my desk. I was lying on the bed with headphones on when I looked over and saw that she was looking in the book. As I watched her, I noticed that there was writing on the book cover. I had purchased the book as new, had never written in it or had it anywhere other than when I was at Rehmeyer Hollow. As I looked closer, there was an “NR” written in pencil.

The next day, I lit the grill in the backyard and promptly burned the book and buried the ashes. I wasn’t leaving anything to ‘chance’. A few weeks later, I purchase a new copy of ‘The Long Lost Friend’ and it’s been near me since. Lon

Pow-wow

The following is a description of how the Pow-wower applied their skills in 20th-century York County, as noted by Arthur H. Lewis in his 1969 book Hex[image error]:

Except for two days a month, the Rohrbaugh Convalescent Home in rural Spring Grove, York County, Pennsylvania, is about as quiet a spot as you're likely to find anywhere in the Keystone State. But on the first and sixteenth, it becomes a mecca for scores of ailing men, women and children who flock to this tiny village, there to be powwowed back to health by Mrs. Leah Frank.

Mistakenly, I assumed there was some significance in the choice of the two days on which Mrs. Frank practices her profession.

"When I reached ninety, and that was four years ago," Mrs. Frank explained, "I thought maybe I'd better quit altogether; it's so hard on a body. But my people wouldn't let me, tole me they needed me. So, instead of workin' every day, I tole 'em I'd 'try for' two days a month and I picked the first and the sixteenth. Then people will know when to come and not be disappointed in between. That's all there is to it."

Through the windows of the second-floor bedroom she seldom leaves, Mrs. Frank can view the soft hills of York County where she has lived all her years. As a matter of fact, the aged powwower spends most of her daylight hours in an old-fashioned Morris chair facing the east. "I'd rather see the sun come up than go down," she says gently.

Except for a slight diminution in hearing and arthritis, only lately beginning to cripple the long, tapered fingers she needs for "laying on" ill or otherwise troubled patients, Mrs. Frank remains in excellent health. Her cheeks, though wrinkled, have a healthy glow; her teeth are her own, and her sharp blue eyes still regard with abiding interest that small portion of the world she sees.

"Prettiest part of the world, though I wouldn't know much about the rest of it," Mr. Frank said in a clear voice with a strong Pennsylvania Dutch inflection. "Born and raised ten miles from here and never been no further away than forty. But you don't have to travel to learn things and how to take care of 'em that needs you, do you?"

She smiled and went on.

"I've been tryin' for people for a long, long time. I always know'd I had the power but I learned how to use it from a veterinarian who practiced powwowin' too. That was back in 1904; I've been doin' it ever since.

"Course that's not all I ever done. I just used to try for people on the side like most of us faith healers do. From the time I was a little girl 'till I was seventy-seven years I worked in a mill and I worked hard, too. Anymore I don't work so hard. Now I'm so old I only powwow."

What troubles Mrs. Frank is the current shortage of apprentices willing to undergo the rigors of training in order to become worthy practitioners.

"I don't mean those that don't have the power inside 'em 'cause they'll never learn no matter how much they want to. Some of 'em try but I always say to 'em, 'If you can't stop blood, you'll never be a powwower, so don't waste your time.'"

"What I'm referrin' to is those that got the power but don't want to use it. It ain't easy; you have to work hard and it makes you mighty tired to try for people.

Mrs. Frank did not elaborate upon the curriculum required before the neophyte can become a full-fledged practitioner. She did say, however, that after "blood stopping," which, incidentally, she claims can never be taught and must be known congenitally, the next training step is wart removal. After that come the many other branches of the discipline concluding with cures for the opnema, St. Anthony's fire and finally tumors.

Mrs. Frank also holds to the orthodox belief, one shared by the majority of her colleagues, that an instructor in powwowism or witchcraft may impart his knowledge only to members of the opposite sex.

"A man shouldn't teach another man or boy and a woman can't teach another woman or girl," claims this nonagenarian necromancer. "I'm helpin' train a young man who lives 'round here and he's doin' all right. But I sure wish I could teach my granddaughter. She was born with the power but she don't know how to use it. She could do wonderful good."

I asked Mrs. Frank what would happen if she attempted to teach the profession to her granddaughter. She shuddered.

"Oh, my goodness! That would be terrible. I'd suffer for it the rest of my days and maybe lose my own power if I tried."

Like the Willow Street powwower, to whom she is not related, Mrs. Frank is aware of the present of evil area witches. However, she does not subscribe to Clair Frank's depressing theory that practitioners of the black art are getting smarter as well as increasingly numerous.

"Not many of 'em 'round as there used to be," Mrs. Frank said cheerfully. "And they're getting dumber and dumber all the time. But when I was a girl!"

Kyle Philson is a native Texan. Growing up in rural Texas in a small town outside of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, Kyle spent a lot of time in the woods hunting, fishing and camping. His early interest in the paranormal was first sparked by his father and uncles. Watching shows like Unsolved Mysteries and In Search Of along with reading numerous books by John Keel and Ivan T. Sanderson, Kyle became fascinated by UFOs, Bigfoot, time slips and parallel universes. Keeping an open mind and exploring these topics, he strives to present theses stories and experiences shared by only a few in a fun and light hearted way. Kyle currently lives in Texas with his wife and three sons.
Cam Hale was born and raised in Texas and comes from a long family heritage of Texans that can be traced back to before the Lone Star State gained it’s independence. Growing up in a rural country town he spent the majority of his time outdoors. Receiving his first taste of archery at the age of 5, he started down a path that lead him on solo camping and hunting trips across the state as well as many other states. Like most his fascination with the strange and unusual started young with shows like In Search Of and Unsolved Mysteries. Diving deeper into these subjects at his the local library, only fueled the flames that have led him to where he is today. With an open mind and adventurers heart, Cam looks to present the stories of the strange in a fun and intriguing manner. Is This A Bigfoot 'Kill Boneyard?'

Is it possible that this is a Bigfoot kill dump and/or boneyard? I know of at least one other location within New Mexico where similar activity has occurred. Your thoughts?

I received the following inquiry and images in June 2014. I would like some comments and thoughts by the readers:

MF, aka (redacted), was prospecting in the (redacted - New Mexico) late September, 2002. He told me about a strange location he stumbled onto and later showed me a few of the photos he took.

Below a steep slope on a semi-flat rocky area, strewn amongst the typical high desert trees, was a boneyard. This boneyard according to MF was over 200 feet long and many of the bones had washed into a ravine below the dump, making the number of bones even greater than what he could see. The remains were a sampling of most the mammals that live in the (redacted), such as deer, elk, bighorn sheep, bear, mountain lion, horse, cattle, etc. Antlers and horns were broken and left on partial skulls — so that ruled out poachers and trophy hunters. On some of the kills made in recent years, the hides and flesh still clung to the bones, so that ruled out meat hunters. The location is too far from a rough 4-wheel drive forest service road, for any truck to use this as a dump site. MF searched for any intact skulls that he could take home, but most were all or partially crushed. His guess is something has been dumping carcasses here for over 50 years. He returned a number of times over the years, hoping to see some evidence of what was responsible.

MF thinks the predator has to be big and powerful, either dragging the carcasses long distances through the forest or dropping the carcasses from above. An intriguing mystery.

After I return to New Mexico from (redacted), I plan to visit the site with MF in the fall of 2015. I’ll take close-up photos with a good camera.

MF doesn’t type or use a computer, so I’m sending this hoping you have some insight into what this might be. I’m attaching three photos taken from his old cell phone camera. LL
