Reptilians & Lizard Humanoids: Experiencer Reports

The following accounts were gathered by me over the past several years. All are encounters related to Reptilian or lizard-like humanoids or beings.

"I am sending this experience and you will be the second person I have ever told about this. The first person went back here the summer after I told him about this and has NEVER talked to me about my story or his trip back there. We slowly lost contact over time and I think this is the reason why.

In 1978 I was Elk hunting west of a town called Dubois in Wyoming. I was on my way back to town for a hot meal, gas and restock my food supplies, as I was camping in a tent in the back country. I was on the highway going west of town coming in and found a man wearing only hunting shoes, heavy shirt and goose down vest. In Wyoming in the middle of October then this was definitely under dressed! They day time temps were at a high of the 30's at best, and nights were in single digits or lower. Well he got out in the road and started waving his arms wildly and begging stop, I saw his eyes had trail of tears on his face trailing down in the dirt on it. I pulled over to the side of the deserted road to see what his problem was, I thought it might be a wreck on the icy spots of the highway. Little did I know this would change my life thinking and the way I hunted by myself up here forever.

He ran to my side of the pickup and I could see he was very scared about something. He grasped the pickup and begged me with tears in his eyes to take him to town. I couldn't say no to this man, I asked him if he was in a wreck or something he said "No just please get me out of here, I need to go somewhere safe." I thought odd that he would say this and as I had my right hand on a pistol in my lap (guys you never know) I said to get in. He looked around at the tree line along the roadway and again ran to the passenger side of the pickup. As he was coming around the truck I put the pistol in in a side pocket of the door and he got inside and locked the door and made sure the window was up, again watching the tree line, "Go please" was all he said. I started back towards town and I then noticed the scratches on his face, clothes and hands and his whole body was shaking. After we went a couple of miles he somewhat slowed down on rechecking the tree line and passenger rear view mirror.

"You O.K. buddy?" I asked, he stared at me for many seconds and just broke down crying like a little kid. "Yah, but don't think I'm crazy man, I just had some shit happen and I ain't going back there for nothing, I hope the guys are O.K.". He composed himself some and started to explain:

I am hunting here with two buddies and we always hunt below Brooks Lake when we come to Wyoming. Usually we get Elk or Deer, never go home skunked here, just love it. I was going along a trail I been on many times to get to a small overlook to sit awhile. It was their turn to push (the Elk) to me. I was almost there when I walked past this stand of three trees close together and on the other side was this huge Lizard, it was standing easy over 6 1/2 feet tall, golden/bronze color with a vest and short metallic looking briefs. I could tell it was a male I guess and he had a black thing in its clawed hand. It eyes were like a cats and it had a tail. I just stood there with my rifle in my hands across my chest froze kind of like. I was looking into the face of death, I just know it. I coughed a little and it's arm with the black thing came up so fast I could hardly see it. Something hit my whole body from my feet to my head and I fell back on the ground, I don't know if I flew or fell I just went backwards. It came slowly walking up to me I could hear it and could only move my eyes slightly as it came into view, it just looked down to me it's mouth slightly open making a low hissing sound and it's forked tongue slightly coming out of it's mouth. It's head turned down looking at me and did this for a few minutes, I could hear it breathing, see the nose holes working, see it's chest, muscles tensing and relaxing all over it's body, I was just froze there looking up, I couldn't look at it directly and I couldn't close my eyes very easy either. It's expression never changed only the eyes moved sometimes slow like sometimes so fast you could hardly see 'um. On it's sleeveless shirt it had a kinda O with a smaller, screwy offset Y and Z I think, it finally walked away down the trail. I dunno how long I laid there, from the sun movement it was maybe a couple of hours. I could hear the forest sounds, birds, wind, trees, animals going about their day like nothing happened, I would will my arms or legs to move hell, even fingers. When I could move every muscle in my body ached as I would use it, like after a workout at the gym or something. I knew if I went down hill I would come to the old creek bottom and hopefully not see him again. I did that, I followed it to the canyon bottom and then to the road and you. Thanks again, don't make me get out. I took off my coat, I guess I forgot my rifle, cap, I don't need them. I hope Jake and Bobby are O.K. I heard something following me when I first got up, it was real heavy sounding and would stop when I stopped and once or twice I could hear breathing like "it" did, kind of a raspy wheeze sound. I would start running or walking again, I couldn't rest.

He told me which motel to let him off at and I did, he thanked me many times and got out and went in the office. I never seen him again. I thought about the fantastic story and wondered if true, but it could be right? I didn't hear anything about someone having problems anywhere around town that fall.

I asked about the man the next year at the motel (no one could remember him) and if anyone knew stories about the area, I didn't get specific or anything. I didn't press it. My buddy whom I was close to and explored stuff like this at every opportunity was very interested in my story and the location. He took off up there the next summer for a long weekend, I had to work so couldn't go. I didn't see him until a couple of weeks later. I asked him about it and what he found out. He looked at me and got very serious, "Dude, don't go up there, promise me, O.K.?" Was all he said, I could tell he meant it. I would go with this guy sometimes and he was very analytical and professional when doing things like, taping sounds at cemeteries, exploring ghost haunts, and others. He never acted scared at any time. I have never hunted or been on that side of the highway since then, but have talked to others that have seen large barefoot prints, strange flying stuff or howls over the years since then around the Wind River Mountains for what it's worth. I do like to read about the unknown and sometimes explore it, but, and I mean but, if it just feels wrong before I start. I leave it alone.

Now when I hunt anywhere I don't fear bears, wolves or other people, but I am weary of what else might be out there, and always let someone know where I go and when I should be back." AWH

"Upon reading online about reptilian beings visiting people I summoned up my courage to speak out about my experience 7 years ago.

In 2005 I lived in Colchester, England with my long term partner and was working at a local cafe where I meet and worked with people who first introduced me to the beliefs surrounding the Illuminati.

When I fell pregnant we decided to move to Australia where strange things started to happen in my sleep. The first one I remember is waking up not being able to move or talk. It was extremely frightening and although it happened on several occasions I was hesitant to tell my partner incase he thought I was crazy. On the contrary I felt I mentally and spiritually strong which helped me fight to over come the forces that we're controlling me every time.

I also used to see tiny green lights in the corners of my room during the night.

One night I was woken to find what I can only describe as a reptile-like creature/being standing over me on two legs. It had a frill around his neck that was in a threatened like extension, very muscular and a tail. He was making a hissing noise I felt that was certainly not friendly looking almost through me when our eyes meet and as previous experiences I was not able to move or speak and felt paralysed yet wide awake. In absolute terror I shut my eyes and opened them and it was gone.

I was beside myself and was in fear of his return. It wasn't the last time I awoke to him, he also came to me in a dream. In my dream I was sitting at my friends square table talking with her and I knew he was there. In my dream I remember as my friend was talking I was being coaxed away and taken by him, It felt like an outer body experience as I could see myself in my dream at the table with her...I knew I was been taken. I managed with all of my spirit to fight the strength he had on me and I remember feeling like I wasn't ready to go and that he'd be back when I was because after that it didn't return and hasn't. After I had my baby I remember seeing lights the same green ones I saw in my room in her cot at night when she woke for feeding. I don't know why this happened to me or why I got a frill neck but I know I'm not alone and I know I'm not crazy!" S

This photo was taken by David Eckhart as a 'Reptilian' started to manifest. These beings would appear in 'solid' form as they arrive, then within a split second transform to a non-solid, holographic type form.

"I awoke one night in a state of which I can only explain as a spasm, my body was in a rigid state. I could not move a muscle and felt like something was on top of me.

I fought to get movement back in my body. I could not turn my head or move at all. It was like I was having a fight to get control of my body.

After a few panic stricken moments, I could just barely move my fingers, only a little bit. I then felt that there was more than just a spasm. I felt dirty and touched. It was a horrible feeling from deep inside me.

I could barely move my toes, again very slightly. My throat felt like it was being held. I could feel something was on top of me. My hands where by my side, but it felt like they were around my own throat, holding tightly. I was using all my might to break free from this spasmodic state.

Then could feel something breathing into my left ear, a sound of a growl-like noise right next to my ear. I struggled to move my head to the left, like breaking free from a strangle hold.

I could barely see the outline of a head, a big long head next to my own face. As the spasm-like feeling started to wear off, a tiny bit at a time, I could work out that this thing on top of me looked like a lizard/newt thing. It was like a blending together of all that was around it, or maybe invisible. I'm not very sure which, but I could see it clearly as the seconds passed on.

It was reptilian. I growled at it, or I think I did. My mind and my body gave all it could to do so. I bared my teeth at it and I could feel it could read my mind. I was swearing at it and shouting all sorts of obscenities at it. I felt violated and used.

The next thing, it was quickly off of me and was standing to one side of the bottom of my bunk bed. A light came through the thin gap in the curtains. There were different shades of a golden light which also had very small particles inside it, like dust or small stars which moved around like little bright lights.

This reptilian creature was about 6 feet tall. I could sense it was either proud or happy with itself, maybe both. I tried to sit up as best I could and through my mind I swore at it again.

The creature walked forward and stepped into the light beam. As it did, the feet and legs vanished into the light. The more the creature moved forward towards the window, the more of it vanished.

After it was gone I felt relaxed, but I could still feel where I was held around my throat. I felt I was raped by this horrendous monster.

I awoke to a bright sunny day. I could hear my mother downstairs, washing up and doing housework. I laid in my bed and didn't move a muscle. I ran the incident through my mind again and, yes, I could still feel where I was held around my throat.

I know this happened. My mind, heart and soul knows that this happened. For the life of me, I could not run downstairs to explain to my mother about this. Who would have believed it? How would my parents have handled such a thing? I did not know what to do?

Since that night, my stepfather passed away. I asked my mother if she believed in aliens or UFOs. She replied that my stepfather said once that he saw a UFO near Brighton, East Sussex while at sea in the 1960's and he swore that it was a UFO, but only told my mother this.

I never told my mother about my experience, as I thought it would be to harrowing for her to hear.

What do I do about my experience? I would love to do something about it. It may help somebody, as I am being very honest. Things like this should be disclosed. An answer has to be found on why this is happening." RR

"I had a weird encounter in November 1988. My ex-wife and I were near Bass Lake, Indiana at night and saw some type of craft with many colored lights land nearby. We moved towards it where it was close enough to get a decent look. It was shaped like a triangle with the pointed end at the bottom. It hovered just above the ground flashing and glowing different colors. Not long later a door opened on the side and a ramp came out. We started to get out of there when we noticed a weird looking thing coming down the ramp. It was shaped like a man but looked like a lizard with huge feet. It stopped moving and look over in our direction. We got out of there. I returned to the spot two days later and didn't notice anything. I did experience very bad headaches and body aches for a few days though. What do you think we encountered?"

There was no name or contact information. I replied by email but never received a confirmation.

I was looking at UFO sightings in Ohio, Illinois and Indiana and came across a report from 11/8/1988 that was eerily similar to the email I received. The link was from the Albert Rosales' database:

Location. Knox Indiana
Date: November 8 1988
Time: late night

The 12-year old witness had gotten up to get a drink of water when a flash of multicolored light attracted his attention to the yard. He turned the lights on and walked over to the large picture window in the living room. Looking out he saw a large diamond-shaped object resting on the lawn. It had flashing multi colored lights around its edge and appeared to be made out of a copper like metal. An escalator like device now appeared from the object's left rear edge and slid down to the ground. A small humanoid now appeared and walked down the escalator and disappeared behind the object. Moments later the being re-appeared and began walking towards the house. The humanoid was described as 5-foot 3 inches tall with normal arms with what appeared to be claws and strange "double feet." The being wore a belt and a buckle and appeared to have some type of symbols across its chest. It had a large nose, large square mouth, and huge dark brown eyes. The skin was lizard like green with scales and wrinkled. The witness became frightened as the being approached, suddenly the neighbor's dog began barking, and the being stopped turned its head around and looked directly at the witness. The next thing the witness remembered was seeing the object lift off silently and disappear into the sky. Ground traces were reportedly found the next day.

NOTE: Both sightings were in November 1988 and approximately 8-10 miles apart. As well, the descriptions of the craft and beings were similar. I'd say that this is more than a coincidence. Lon

Strange Stories, Legends & Folklore of Peru

Several strange stories, legends & folklore from the indigenous people of Peru, including duende, a woman in white, a bird-footed red haired seductress and a cave with gold corn. 

These accounts were forwarded to me:

"My father's family is from La Libertad region in northern Peru. We have a house in a town and one in a beach nearby. I heard these stories when visiting the town as I was growing up.

This happened to my father when he was 7 or 8 years old in the 70's. He had climbed a tall Pacay tree on a grove near to the town, and was sitting on a big branch eating the fruit. It was in the afternoon and there was a lot of wind, the branches and leaves moved and it was relaxing. Suddenly, he felt something was looking at him. He focused, and he saw two eyes looking at him from a branch on another tree. He first only saw the eyes. He says they were bigger than a person's and kind of hypnotic and intelligent. He then saw the rest of what looked like a monkey or a small person and was terrified for some reason. He immediately jumped off and started running to the town in fright. When he told his grandfather what he had seen, he told him it was a "duende" (like a goblin) and that they take away little children, specially those that have not been baptized. His grandfather was a farmer and saw many strange things on the fields outside of town.

This next story happened in the 30's, the generation of my father's grandfather. A group of 4 men had gone on horse to the "monte" (like wild forest in this dry area) and were returning to town at the end of daylight. The paths were such that they had to go one behind the other. Suddenly, they realized that the last man was missing. They backtracked, and first found his horse without the rider, and then him, on the ground, passed out. They took him to town and he was babbling and crying but not coming into himself. A priest and a "curandero" (like a witch doctor) had to take care of him. When he finally returned to his senses, he said had seen a "bulto" in the road. "Bulto" would translate to "blob", it is just a mass occupying space. That it was darker than the surroundings and bigger than a person, and that his horse had refused to go near it. Then he remembered nothing else.

This happened to me during the first time I travelled alone to my family’s town. My grandmother had died of cancer two years ago, and before her final stay on the hospital, she had lived in this house for months. No one had visited the house since her death, and everything was as she had left it. Her clothes were on the closet and folded in a chair; plates and cutlery on the dish rack. All with dust on top of it. In the main part of the house there are two bedrooms facing each other. One was hers, the other was for visitors. I stayed on the visitors’ room. The night I arrived, I was laying on the bed with the door to my back (or, better said, to the top of my head), reading a book. Suddenly, I heard a breathing. It was deep and slow breathing, as if someone was sleeping, coming from my grandmother’s bedroom. I remember being startled, and afraid to turn my head and watch the other room through the door. It continued for some 10 minutes, and then it vanished. I just laid there. I wasn’t terrified, as I have been of other experiences. Somehow, I am sure it was my grandmother’s breathing.

This story was told to my father when he was a boy, by his grandfather who was a farmer. His farm was a two hour walk away from town. For a season, his grandfather had to leave town around 2 AM so as to arrive and get everything ready for his turn of the water supply (communal use of water is common in Peru). My father was sent to fetch him lunch, sometimes on horse, sometimes walking. One of these times, he found his usually jolly grandfather in a worried mood. He told him that during the previous night, as he walked to his piece of land under a dim moonlight, he had seen a woman all dressed in white standing in the middle of a rice field. For some reason, he knew that it was not a woman but something else, and he had run the remaining of the way to his land, and shut himself in his cabin for the rest of the night, missing his water turn. His grandfather told him that when walking to the farms he usually heard whistles calling him, or distant voices, but he knew to ignore them. He had never been terrified as when he saw that woman in the fields.

This story comes from north Peru, but in the mountains, which we call sierra, where people are very different from people on the coast. Some years ago, I travelled the country working on organic farms in exchange of a lodging and food. This was told to me near the town of Corongo by a farmer I met when making the three hour walk from farm to town. Among many things, I told him I use to bathe myself in the hot water pool that springs from a mountain side in the area, and that I found it curious that I rarely met anyone there. He asked me what time did I took my baths, and looked worried when I told him that around 3 PM. He told me to be careful, because there were stories that sometimes, when a man is taking a bath there, the mountain side would open revealing a cave, and that a beautiful woman would come out. The woman has green eyes and red hair and she seduces the men and lures them into the cave. The cave then closes itself. He added that the men that had returned and told the story had realized that she was not a woman because they had looked to the bottom of the pool and saw that she had no human feet, but the feet of a bird. These stories usually happened when the sun was setting down.

When I went back to my farm, I told the story to the owner who was a Jewish man. He was amazed, because in one of their religious texts, Lilith, the first wife of Adam, is depicted as woman of fiery hair and bird feet. This region is so far away and the farmers are very little read that he found the coincidence striking. This man was very spiritual and a student of esoteric things, and he used to tell me many strange stories that had happened to him.

Finally, this story was told to an uncle of mine. It is about a man walking back from the beach to the town, at the end of daylight. The beach is separated from the town by a desert area, with dunes and short mountains (500 meters? 15 minute climb). The man was passing one of the mountains when he saw light coming from it. He got closer to the mountain and out of the road, and saw that the side of the mountain was open, as if there was a big doorway, and inside the mountain it was full day (that was the light he saw) and there were fields of corn. But the corn was made of gold. He got closer to the doorway, and there appeared a hooded man. The hooded man invited him in, and to take some gold corn. But the man got a bad feeling and went away. There are more strange stories about the mountains in that road from beach to town." B

Searching For Mokele-Mbembe: Next On 'Arcane Radio'

"As you certainly know my film is about the quest for Mokele-Mbembe, a semi-aquatic animal supposedly living in Central Africa's unexplored rainforests. Some people say it might be a dinosaur, but I rather think it is a giant monitor lizard, like the ones you find in the Komodo Islands. The quest for Mokele-Mbembe became very well-known in the US in the early 80's, when Roy P. Mackal from the University of Chicago led a couple of expeditions in the Congo (without bringing back any credible evidence). Disney produced "Baby, The Secret of the Lost Legend" soon after that.

I first heard about Mokele-Mbembe while I was working with the Pygmee people in the Central Africa republic in 2014. In 2016, I went on two expeditions to search for Mokele-Mbembe in the little-known Nki area, at the border between Cameroon and the Congo, with the famous French explorer Michel Ballot, a former lawyer who dropped everything 15 years ago to try to prove the beast's existence. It was during the second expedition - the most ambitious one, both in terms of budget and of people involved - that I shot my film. And that we found some very interesting evidence of the possible presence of Mokele-Mbembe in the area."

Alexandre Brecher is an international communication expert, writer and documentary filmmaker, born in France in 1984. After graduating in communication and film studies in Paris, Alexandre embraced a career in international development in Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Pacific. He spent three years in Cameroon, during which he shot 2 feature-length documentaries, "Message in a Bottle" (2018) and "The Explorer" (2020). "The Explorer" is a documentary about the quest for the Congo Basin's Mokele-mbembe: a giant reptile or sauropod dinosaur that stalks the region's jungles, rivers, and swamps.

What is Mokele-Mbembe? Is it fact or simply a legend? Here is an overview of Mokele-Mbembe I've posted over the years:

For over 200 years, reports have circulated about a dinosaur-like beast inhabiting Africa's Congo River basin. In 1776, French missionaries passing through the forests reported finding huge footprints in the ground. The clawed prints were three feet in circumference and were spaced about seven feet apart. This would have made the animal as big as an elephant, but it was common knowledge to the locals that the tracks were not from an elephant, since elephants do not posses claws. One of the priests, amazingly, even gave claim to have seen several specimens chewing on vegetation while wading in the rivers. Regardless, it was certain that these were an entirely new group of animals. At that time, however, they were neither "dinosaurs" nor "prehistoric," the words waiting to be invented nearly one hundred years later.

Central Africa is unique in that it is the only place where many people really believe they may still exist. Daniel Loxton and Donald Prothero researched the Mokele-mbembe in depth. They note that though "Rumors of enormous beasts hidden in the Congo region date back to at least the sixteenth century... the idea of an elusive African dinosaur-like animal seems to have developed only after the discovery in the nineteenth century of fossil dinosaurs."

The origin of Mokele-mbembe can be traced back to a 1909 book titled 'Beasts And Men: Being Carl Hagenbeck's Experiences For Half A Century Among Wild Animals'[image error] by a showman and zoologist named Carl Hagenbeck. In that book, Hagenbeck speculated that sauropods (long-necked dinosaurs such as the Apatosaurus) might still be alive in deepest Africa. He offered no evidence aside from legends and rumor, but the sensational claims were quickly picked up and circulated by the press; for example a Washington Post story from 1910 announced that "Brontosaurus Still Lives." That publicity, according to Loxton and Prothero, "launched what would become the modern cryptozoological legend of mokele-mbembe."

In 1913, a German explorer reported stories of, what the natives called, "Mokele-mbembe," which he had heard while in the Congo. Hearing the reports, a few scientists noticed that the descriptions of the creatures made them sound much like sauropod dinosaurs. Sauropods were the giants of the dinosaurs world, averaging about 70 feet (21 meters) long and standing 12-15 feet (3.7 to 4.8 m) tall at the hips.

In 1932, a British scientist, exploring near the Likouala region where the creatures are said to live, came across some abnormally huge footprints. Later, when he went down one of the rivers in a canoe, he heard strange sounds, but did not see anything.

Coincidentally, that same year the world famous zoologist and biologist, Ivan T. Sanderson, along with animal-trader Gerald Russel, were paddling up the Mainyu River in the heart of western Africa when, according to Sanderson's report:

"The most terrifying sound I have ever heard, which sounded like an on-coming earthquake or an exploding, nearby robot, suddenly greeted us from a large underwater cave."

While the water of the river was boiling and foaming directly in front of their canoe, a darkish, shining lizard-like head suddenly rose from the dark water. They described the head as nearly the size of the head of a fully grown hippo, which sat on a thick, swan-like neck. The enormous neck was turned towards the two men, and for just a few seconds, although it seemed like an eternity, the monster simply stared at Sanderson and Russel. Mr. Sanderson summed up his thoughts with these emphatic words:

"I don't know what we saw, but the animal, the monster, burned itself into my retinas. It looked like something that ought to have been dead millions of years ago. As a scientist, I should have been happy, of course, but this encounter was so frightening, so nasty that I never want to see it again."

A Dinosaur In Africa?

It was 1986, Rory Nugent and his expedition party were out in the world's largest unexplored swamp on earth, the Likouala Swamp of Africa. While near Lake Tele he saw a long, thin neck come up out of the water, like that of a dinosaur. Rory immediately took two photographs and quickly got in his canoe, but his native guides stopped him at gunpoint and said, "He (the creature) would have killed us all..."

Over the last 100 years, evidence has accumulated that sauropod dinosaurs may still be roaming the vast, unexplored regions of the African swamp and jungle. Places like Nigeria, Congo, Angola, Gabon, and Cameroon have similar reports of huge, long-necked monsters, some with a length of 75 feet! Native sightings have been confirmed by reports from missionaries, explorers, and even army personnel. The natives in the Congo region call this creature “Mokele-mbembe” (the one who stops the flow of rivers). This creature is said to possess a long neck and tail, small head, large body, and four legs. They say the animal is very aggressive when disturbed and will bite and lash its tail at you when it is tipping over canoes, killing elephants or hippos. It is herbivorous (plant-eater) and enjoys eating very large amounts of the Malombo fruit that grows on vines at the edge of the rivers. Tracks from this creature range from 1 to 3 feet wide and are spaced 7 to 8 feet apart. It has no hair and it’s skin is very smooth. Dr. Bill Gibbons and Dr. Roy Mackal have done much research on Mokele-mbembe and without their work, little would be known about it.

At Lake Tele in 1983, Marcellin Agnaga was on an expedition when he said he saw Mokele-mbembe swimming in the lake. The creature was half-way out of the water and he could see it’s head, neck, and part of its body. His sketch resembles a sauropod dinosaur. He got his camera and began filming, but left the lens cap on and lost all proof of his encounter.

In a nearby part of Africa called Cameroon, there is another creature called Le’Kela-mbembe. It is said to grow around 70 feet in length and will eat the leaves from the Esem Tree. Dr. Bill Gibbons has done over twenty years of research on Mokele-mbembes and has discovered that Le’Kela-mbembes are actually mature Mokele-mbembes that migrate into Cameroon to mate (in September) and later return to the Congo to give birth to live young. Bill Gibbons discovered also that it will dig tunnels or caves on the shores of rivers. It mostly eats between 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. and is active at night. An expedition in 2003, confirmed that the Le’Kela-mbembe has a height of up to 18 feet by finding trees with all their branches eaten off up to a height of 18 feet. They also found tracks and a cave that had been sealed partly from the inside with mud. One biologist named Peter Beach could hear scratching sounds inside the cave. As the noises became louder it was evident that what ever was inside the cave was digging it’s way out towards them. One member of the expedition named Pierre feared for their lives and they quickly left, since an adult Mokele-mbembe can be very dangerous if disturbed at close range.

S. Arrey was housing some British soldiers in 1948 near Lake Barombi in Northern Cameroon. While he and some others were swimming in the lake, something broke through the surface of the water. In a very short time everyone was out of the water. They observed two giant reptiles coming out of the water. The larger one had a longer neck (about 15 feet long) and a spike or horn on it’s head that the smaller one did not have. Their skin was not smooth, but rather scaly.

Please note that the natives who see these creatures are not afraid to tell others what they have seen because they haven’t been taught about evolution, and do not know that dinosaurs were suppose to have been extinct millions of years ago. I feel the theory of evolution actually hinders the discovery of animals thought to be extinct. When the school text-books teach about the history of dinosaurs, why don’t they mention there is a strong possibility they might still be living? Because of this unproven theory, people are hesitant to tell anyone when they see dinosaurs like the Loch Ness Monster or Mokele-mbembe for fear of what people might think.

Here is some recently contributed information by David Woetzel (who has been on expeditions in search of Mokele-mbembe):

1.) The older 20-45 ft long creatures live and mate in the Dja and maybe the Sangha rivers. These mature MM's (Mokele-mbembe) have very tough scales, like the back of a crocodile. Also like a croc, their underbelly is much softer. Their coloration is a dulled brownish gray.

2.) The younger creatures live in the Likouala swamp region. Their scales are softer and their colors are a more vivid reddish-brown. They're probably more skittish then their older counterparts.

3.) This sharp contrast in areas by age suggests a migration that only happens once in their lives (although the mother likely goes with its offspring to take them to the swamp).

4.) Their birth instincts are peculiar and vague. The native people say the MM gives birth to live young every 20 years. This is not a trait likely in reptiles, maybe the people their have it wrong because they are not able to find a nest site (some nests have been found) for how territorial these animals are they likely guard their nests very aggressively. They would likely kill anyone that gets close enough to see the eggs.

5.) No matter what, the mother's birth migration probably happens 1 of 2 ways. They either migrate to the swamp and lay eggs (or give birth) there, or they lay their eggs along the river and the mother and offspring go to the swamp together. I'm in favor of that idea because the nests are found along the rivers and the only time more than one MM is seen is when it is with its mother (according to the natives).

6.) The mother remains with her offspring for about a year (it may use this time to take the baby to the swamp and prepare it for life on its own)

7.) The adult male has a shorter neck but it also has a spiky back, and the female has a longer neck without the spikes.

EXPEDITIONS

Expeditions primarily began in the 1880s, shortly after the region was taken over by Belgium. For many years, therefore, it was called the Belgium Congo. Beginning from 1909, here is a brief list of over a dozen of them.

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1909

Naturalist Carl Hagenbeck recounted in his autobiography how two separate individuals - a German named Hans Schomburgh and an English hunter - told him about a "huge monster, half elephant, half dragon," which lived in the Congo swamps. Later, another naturalist, Joseph Menges, related to Hagenbeck that "some kind of dinosaur, seemingly akin to the brontosaurs," inhabited the swamps. Hagenbeck soon sent an expedition to the Congo to search for the monster, but the effort was quickly aborted due to disease and hostile natives.

GERMAN EXPEDITION 1913

In 1913, Capt. Freiherr von Stein zu Lausnitz was sent by the German government to explore the Cameroon. Von Stein wrote of a unique animal called, in the local tongue, Mokele-mbembe, said to inhabit the areas near the Ubangi, Sangha, and Ikelemba Rivers. Von Stein described the creature thus:

"The animal is said to be of a brownish-gray color with a smooth skin, its size approximately that of an elephant; at least that of a hippopotamus. It is said to have a long and very flexible neck and only one tooth, but a very long one; some say it is a horn. A few spoke about a long muscular tail like that of an alligator. It is said to climb the shore even at daytime in search of food; its diet is said to be entirely vegetable. At the Ssombo River I was shown a path said to have been made by this animal in order to get at its food. The path was fresh and there were plants of the described type [a liana] nearby"

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1920

A 32-men-strong expedition was sent out from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. After six days, African guides found large, unexplained tracks along the bank of a river and later the team heard mysterious "roars, which had no resemblance with any known animal," coming from an unexplored swamp. However, the Smithsonian's hunt for Moklele-Mbembe was to end in tragedy. During a train-ride through a flooded area where an entire tribe was said to have seen the dinosaur, the locomotive suddenly derailed and turned over. Four team members were crushed to death under the cars and another half dozen seriously injured.

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1932

In 1932, American cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson was traveling in Africa and came across large hippo-like tracks in a region with no hippos. He was told by the natives that they were made by a creature named the "mgbulu-eM'bembe." Later, Sanderson saw something in the water that seemed too large to be a hippo, but it disappeared before he could investigate further.

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1972

In 1960, herpetologist James H. Powell, Jr. took interest in the African dragons and organized an expedition to the Congo in 1972. Powell's expedition, unfortunately, was fraught with problems (the United States and the Congo had poor relations at the time). Many months of hardships such as snake-bites, near-drownings and tropical diseases only led to more witness testimonies about Mokele-Membe and another lizard-like creature which locally was called "n'yamala."

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1976

In 1976, James Powell decided to go to Gabon instead, inspired by a book called "Trader Horn." (In 1927, the book, a memoir of the author's time in Gabon, specifically along the Ogooue River, was written by Englishman Alfred Aloysius Smith. He recorded hearing of a creature called the "jago-nini" and identified it with the "amali," a creature whose tracks he had seen). He was quick to realize they were probably identical to the Mokele-mbembe. Furthermore, Powell heard local legends of the n'yamala, and locals identified pictures of a sauropod dinosaur as bearing the most resemblance to the animal.

GERMAN EXPEDITION 1980

An expedition mounted by engineer Herman Regusters and his wife Kia managed to make its way to Lake Tele, where they heard the growls and roars of an unknown creature. They also claimed to have photographed Mokele-Mbembe in the lake, as well as watching it walk on land through the brush. According to Regusters, the creature they saw was 30-35 feet long.

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1980

Powell launched another expedition in 1980, but this time cryptozoologist Roy P. Mackal came along. Powell and Mackal found that a large number of reports came from the banks of the Likouala-aux-herbes River near Lake Tele. They said that most witnesses maintained that the animal was between 15-30 feet long (a long neck accounted for much of the length). The creature was also said to be a rust color, and that some had been seen to possess a frill or crest.

AMERICAN EXPEDITION 1981

Yet another expedition was organized in 1981 - this time composed of Mackal, J. Richard Greenwell, M. Justin Wilkinson, and Congolese zoologist Marcellin Agnagna. The expedition encountered what they believed was a Congo "dinosaur" along the Likouala River, when they heard a large animal leaping into the water near Epena. They also discovered a path of broken branches supposedly made by the animal, as well as a number of footprints.

AFRICAN EXPEDITION 1983

In April, 1983, a Congolese expedition led by Marcellin Agnagna, a zoologist from the Brazzaville Zoo, arrived to Lake Tele. Agnagna claimed to have seen the beast some 275 meters out in the lake. The animal held its thin, reddish head - which had crocodile-looking, oval eyes and a thin nose - on a height of 90 cm and looked from side to side, almost as if it was watching him. According to Agnagna, the animal was a reptile, though not a crocodile, nor a python or a freshwater turtle.

BRITISH EXPEDITION 1985-86

Englishman William J. Gibbons (presently living in Canada) talked to several eye-witnesses who gave him valuable information about the Mokele-Mbembe. He is currently convinced that the dinosaur exists, but at the time was unable to prove it. However, upon his return to the UK he brought with him the remains of a monkey which he could not identify. This was later classified as a new sub-species of crestless mangabey monkey (cerocebus galeritus). Fish and insect specimens also found in the Congos remain unclassified to date.

JAPANESE EXPEDITION 1987

A piece of blurry video footage filmed by a Japanese film crew supposedly showing the creature in Lake Tele remains disputable evidence of the animal's existence. The film is indistinct and grainy, possibly just showing two men in a boat with one of them standing upright in the front of the vessel, as is common in Africa. This has been interpreted as a head and neck, but this interpretation of the videotape is purely speculative at best.

BRITISH EXPEDITION 1990

Author and explorer Redmond O'Hanlon returned from his failed expedition convinced that witnesses must have mistaken wild elephants, crossing rivers with their trunk in the air, for a prehistoric Mokele-Mbembe.

BRITISH EXPEDITION 1992

William Gibbons tried again six years later, this time together with American explorer Rory Nugent. Together they searched almost two thirds of the unexplored Bai River while also examining two small lakes North West of Lake Tele. These are Lake Fouloukuo and Lake Tibeke, which are surprisingly absent from most maps. Both are said to be haunts of Mokele-Mbembe. Rory Nugent also took two interesting photographs of something most unusual in Lake Tele. One may actually show the head of a Mokele Mbembe.

WINTER 2006 - 1/12/2006 - Cryptomundo.com:

The Milt Marcy Expedition is the fourth such trek to Africa, with the three before this one being lead by William Gibbons. Marcy is an insurance broker (Milt Marcy Insurance) in Portland, Oregon, who has funded the last three expeditions, and will be participating in this one himself as Gibbons cannot go.

The four expeditions have been greatly assisted by the cryptozoology-friendly government of Cameroon (they received all their official documents quickly). Furthermore, Pierre Sima has collected several new reports of Mokele-mbembe activity in the river system which borders the Congo Republic. Ed Holdroyd, an atmospheric scientist, has also helped the expedition by providing some superb high resolution satellite photographs of an undisclosed area of the river system where Gibbons, Marcy, and all believe the animals are currently active.

Through a combination of field expeditions, recons by Pierre Sima, native reports and the satellite images, the Milt Marcy Expedition feel that they can now track the migration patterns of mokele-mbembe much more effectively.

Update - 2/3/2006:

Milt Marcy is in good shape given all the travel time and tough conditions (the insect problem was awful and his feet are swollen up from all the bites). But he sounded encouraged and in good spirits.

He took a boat with him (11ft with 24 hp outboard) that performed flawlessly and took them far up the Dja for 110 miles. They interviewed three fishermen and acquired three independent eyewitness accounts of Mokele-mbembe observed merely days before they got there.

Missionary Paul Ohlin saw a Mokele-mbembe on the Sangha River on January 10, 2006!

This incident reportedly occurred on the Congo side, as Ohlin works there among the Aka pygmies. This is the area also bordered by the Ngoko River, which in west-central Africa forms part of the Cameroon-Congo (Brazzaville) boundary. The Dja Faunal Reserve (Cameroon) lies along its upper course.

Peter Beach did a great job with the satellite maps and has marked a number of places (including caves) in the general target area. According to Pierre Sima, new information on the animals confirms that they were in the Forbidden Zone from 1984 to 2003/4, so the Mokele-mbembe sometimes stay in one area long-term if the conditions are right. This explains why the villagers in Langoue saw them with such frequency in that area throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

One fantastic tale, not bearing much difference from a legend, tells how the locals, or pygmies, built a barrier of stakes to keep the Mokele-mbembe from entering Lake Tele. That way, the pygmies could fish in a safe haven. This particular story is actually quite recent, somewhere around the 1930s to be precise. As the story goes, two of the creatures, obviously displeased with the course of action taken by the natives, attacked the wall of stakes. The pygmies attacked and speared one of the creatures to death. To memorialize this achievement, the pygmies cooked the animal and feasted over its flesh. It is said that all who tasted the meat died. This, of course, might just be an exaggeration, an effect evident on all stories that travel through time. The pygmies believe that the magical and mystical properties of the Mokele-mbembe were released after this event....

Was a Mokele-mbembe Killed at Lake Tele? - by Bill Gibbons Anomalist.com

I can confirm that at least two of the pygmies who were directly involved in the killing of a Mokele-mbembe at Lake Tele about three decades ago were acquainted on a personal level with missionary pastor Eugene P. Thomas. I have discussed this incident with Pastor Thomas, and he was able to confirm most of the details of the story which follows.

Around 1960, the forest dwelling pygmies of the Lake Tele region (the Bangombe tribe), fished daily in the lake near the Molibos, or water channels situated at the north end of the lake. These channels merge with the swamps, and were used by Mokele-mbembes to enter the lake where they would browse on the vegetation. This daily excursion into the lake by the animals disrupted the pygmies fishing activities. Eventually, the pygmies decided to erect a stake barrier across the molibo in order to prevent the animals from entering the lake.

When two of the animals were observed attempting to break through the barrier, the pygmies speared one of the animals to death and later cut it into pieces. This task apparently took several days due to the size of the animal, which was described as being bigger than a forest elephant with a long neck, a small snake-like or lizard-like head, which was decorated with a comb-like frill. The pygmy spearmen also described a long, flexible tail, a smooth, reddish-brown skin and four stubby, but powerful legs with clawed toes. Pastor Thomas also mentioned that the two pygmies mimicked the cry of the animal as it was being attacked and speared.

Later, a victory feast was held, during which parts of the animal were cooked and eaten. However, those who participated in the feast eventually died, either from food poisoning or from natural causes. It should be noted that pygmies rarely live beyond 35, and pygmy women give birth from aged 12. I also believe that the mythification (magical powers, etc) surrounding Mokele-mbembes began with this incident.

During my first expedition in 1985, we met with several eyewitnesses who have observed Mokele-mbembes in the Sangha and Likouala aux Herbes Rivers. Our pygmy informants also mentioned that there was at least two Mokele-mbembes still living in the Lake Tele vicinity, but they were simply too afraid to take us to a precise location where we could actually film and observe a specimen of Mokele-mbembe, due to their superstitious beliefs surrounding the animals and fear of reprisals from the Boha villagers who are regarded as the owners of the lake. The Boha villagers are also familiar with areas in the river and swamps where we can observe these animals for ourselves. However, the general belief that speaking of Mokele-membes to white outsiders will result in great misfortune or death is fairly prevalent throughout the Likouala region. This presents huge problems in obtaining accurate and up-to-date information on Mokele-mbembes and other cryptids.

I should add that I am not convinced that Marcellin Agnagna, Rory Nugent, or Herman Regusters have observed Mokele-mbembes. During our two visits to the Congo, my colleagues and I were unable to locate a single one of the "dozens" of witnesses that allegedly observed Mokele-mbembes with the aforementioned explorers. Marcellin Agagna changed his story several times, and is now thought (by Roy Mackal) to have observed the giant African freshwater turtle, Trionyx triunguis. Herman Regusters and his wife Kia are the only individuals on his expedition to have observed a "long-necked member" travelling across Lake Tele, in spite of the fact that 28 other people were with them from the village of Boha. Rory Nugent's alleged Mokele-mbembe photos could be anything, although he may have seen "something" in the distance.

But Jose Bourges, the Congolese wildlife official who accompanied the 1988 Japanese expedition to the lake, reported that the entire expedition observed a large humped back of an animal, slowly moving along, as if foraging on the bottom of the lake, which is three meters deep at most. So the animals are still there, and I still want to find one! - Bill Gibbons has conducted two major expeditions to the Congo, in 1985-6, and 1992, in search of the Mokele-mbembe

Destination Truth

In March 2008 an episode of the SyFy series Destination Truth involved investigator Joshua Gates and crew searching for the elusive dinosaur. They did not visit the Likouala Region, which includes Lake Tele, but they visited Lake Bangweulu in Zambia instead, which had reports of a similar creature in the early 20th century, called the "'nsanga". The crew of Destination Truth kept calling the animal "Mokèlé-mbèmbé" to the locals, when that name is only used in the Republic of the Congo. The name used in that particular spot is "chipekwe". Their episode featured a videotaped close encounter, but filmed from a great distance. On applying digital video enhancement techniques, the encounter proved to be nothing more than two submerged hippopotami.

MonsterQuest

In March 2009 an episode of the History Channel series MonsterQuest involved Bill Gibbons, Rob Mullin, local guide Pierre Sima and a two-man film crew from White Wolf Productions. It took place in Cameroon, in the region of Dja, Boumba, and Nkogo Rivers, near the border with the Republic of the Congo. The episode aired in the summer of 2009, and also featured an interview with Roy P. Mackal and Peter Beach of the Milt Marcy Expedition, 2006.[24][self-published source?] While no sightings were reported on the expedition, the team found evidence of a large underground cave with air vents. The team also received sonar readings of very long, serpentine shapes underwater.

Possible Bigfoot Activity Reported in Somerset & Fayette Counties, Pennsylvania

An eyewitness from southwest Pennsylvania describes 3 possible encounters with Bigfoot at 3 separate locations in Somerset and Fayette counties.

I recently came across the following information:

1st INCIDENT

My first encounter was in the woods by Meyersdale, PA.

My 2 friends and I were playing paintball and it got dark. It was about 10:30 PM in the middle of summer, I believe it was 2013. We were walking through the field and my one friend was making random noises. We told him to knock it off and were laughing and stuff.

Suddenly, I would say about 30 feet behind us, we heard a howl that ended in this blood curdling scream. We dropped all our gear, I'm talking several hundred dollars worth of paintball equipment, and ran. I've never ran this much in my life, we kept running till we got out of the field and back onto the street.

My one friend and I returned the next morning to retrieve are gear and we heard wood knocks that came from 2 separate directions.

2nd INCIDENT

My 2nd encounter happened in the summer of 2015 at night at the Jockey Hollow boat launch at the Youghiogheny River Lake. (it'll be easier to understand the details if you look it up on Google Maps)

My parents and I were night fishing. We were the only ones there. I walked to the part of the parking lot where the road enters when all of sudden this deer jumped down and slammed right onto the concrete and immediately got off and ran off. I felt uneasy as it was such a strange random thing so I walked back to my parents on the other side of the parking lot.

About 10 minutes go by when all of a sudden we hear what sounds a lot like a Chimpanzee but much darker. Like that "Ooo Ah Ah Ah Ah!" that chimps do, but with much more snorting mixed it and very deep. Where it was was on the side of the parking lot that is lined with thick brush. My father, who had hunted for over 40 years, was even on edge.

He started the car and pointed the lights in the direction but it was too far back to see anything. Where this thing had to have been at the water is at least 4-5 feet deep at the time. After that it stopped. About another 20 minutes go by and right in front of me in the water lands a rock that had to be at least the size of a volleyball. I had a lantern on the ground so I only caught a glimpse as it hit but I knew it was large from the splash. I know it was a rock. After that we left.

3rd INCIDENT

My last encounter was again outside of Meyersdale, PA. My friend and I were hunting on his aunt's property. After we parked we start up a hill that gets steep. Where the woods starts we split up. He goes off to the left and I went all the way to the top of the hill to a deer stand that's in the woods about 40 yards from the field.

This was our 3rd day there. As I was climbing up the deer stand I hear a distinct "Whooop". I would estimate 100 yards ahead of me. I decided I didn't want to be a sitting duck in the deer stand so I climbed down and went back into the field where I sat. Once the sun began going down I decided to walk back down the hill. Now inside the woods was pitch black but there was still some light in the field.

Once I got to the bottom where the wood curves I heard footsteps. I looked up and saw a silhouette walking on the other side of the brush. I figured it was my friend who decided to walk up to meet up with me since it was getting dark.

I said "Hey did you see any deer?" And all of a sudden this thing tore into the woods and made its way up the hill. I know this was no person as it was pitch black in the woods and there's so much debris there is no way a person could move at the speed this thing was. I clearly could make out the bipedal foot steps.

My friend came out of the woods about 60 yards away, I saw his light before I saw him. He said he heard someone walking around and also questioned me about the whoop as he thought it was me that did it. It was then that I mentioned Bigfoot and he said, "Dammit I never thought about all the weird stuff I heard up there until you mentioned it." Apparently he has heard things up there before. Needless to say we didn't go hunting up there again. DB

Reported Kidnapping of 2 Young Boys by BEKs in Elk County, Pennsylvania

I received an account about an apparent kidnapping of 2 young boys by two other 'black-eyed boys' in Elk County, Pennsylvania in the late 1970's. Very creepy.

I recently came across the following account in one of my databases. I don't believe that I've posted it before:

"It was the late 1970’s and my sons were aged 9 and 7. I was a single mother and worked two jobs. We lived in an old farmhouse on the outskirts of a small town in Elk County, Pennsylvania. We had just moved in that summer and didn’t know our neighbors very well. The main reason I picked this house was for the large backyard. My sons started spending all of their free time out there. I often only saw my sons for a moment in the morning, and at night to tuck them in. They looked out for each other a lot.

One day I came home a bit late and my sons were still awake reading comics, which wasn’t unusual. What was unusual was how excited they were, they had a story to tell me. They told me about their new friends, two boys about their age that lived next door. I was pretty upset, they knew not to talk to strangers. My sons told me they wanted to come inside the house, but my older son wouldn’t let them. I told them they weren’t allowed outside until I had met their new friends, and put them to bed.

The weekend came, and as far as I know my sons hadn’t gone outback. We went to the neighbor's house and introduced ourselves, but they didn’t have any kids though. I assumed that my boys had mixed up what direction their friends came from, and went to our opposite neighbor’s house. They had kids, but they were girls a bit younger than my sons. Maybe they live further down the street, I thought.

I figured this was as good a time as any to meet the neighbors, and we worked our way down the street. There were some old people, young couples, and two families with several children each. Even though we had met about 5 boys my sons’ age, they hadn’t met before. They hit it off though, and my sons stayed for the rest of the day and played in their backyard. I started my way back down the street to get dinner started.

When I got back home I felt like something was off. I wasn’t used to being home alone, because my sons were always home. I started dinner, but still felt weird, a little scared. Something caught my eye out in the darkening yard. My sons were out in the back yard on the swings, but I still felt worried. I went out there to tell them they weren’t allowed outside, even though I had lifted the grounding earlier that day. Then I realized they weren’t my sons.

The two boys got off the swings and faced me, and I immediately noticed something awful. Their eyes were pure black, they seemed to have no soul, no humanity. I stood on the back patio paralyzed, just staring into their eyes. The boys were about a hundred feet from me and started walking towards me. Not a muscle in me would move, I couldn’t break eye contact with them. “Excuse me, miss. Can we use your phone?” the older one asked me. I screamed, "No!" and managed to run in the house.

The boys were at the back door knocking slowly and rhythmically. I was terrified. Then I saw my sons walking up the side of the house, towards the boys with black eyes. I ran to the window on the side of the house and told my sons to run, they laughed and continued around the corner. My younger son saw the two boys and greeted them, the boys with black eyes turned and said “Tell her to let us in.” My son yelled for me to open the door. I was just sobbing and didn’t know what to do.

My sons seemed completely unfazed by the boys with black eyes. I screamed for the boys with black eyes to leave us alone. Just as I did this, there was a knock at the front door. I rushed to the entryway, foolishly leaving my sons alone. I opened the door and there was a police officer. He was with the parents of the family whose house my sons had played at earlier. The wife was crying and the police officer told me that my sons had gone missing. I told him there were intruders in the backyard.

I quickly led the police officer to the back door, but the two monsters and my sons were no where to be seen. The glass in the door broke from how hard I slammed it open. I ran out into the yard sobbing. Then I heard my younger son’s voice, he screamed for me from the back of the yard, I saw him for a moment by the fence. There was a hole in the fence and one of the boys with black eyes pulled my son through it. The police officer shouted for them to stop, as he rushed to the fence.

It was too late, my boys were gone. That was the last time I ever saw my sons."

This statement was included with the account:

"This story was told to me by a neighbor, who wouldn’t tell me if it happened to her or not. She would be about the right age for it though. She lived alone, and had no kids. I told the story from a first person perspective so I could write it better." M

NOTE: I looked into this account at the time I received it in 2009. My notes state that there were 2 apparent kidnappings of young children in the Ridgway, PA area during 1978-79. I will follow up to see if there were any conclusions to these reports. Any information would be appreciated. Lon

Strange 'Family' Encountered in Mobile, Alabama Sewer Tunnel

A group of brothers, new to the Mobile, Alabama area, are skateboarding and find a sewer tunnel. To their surprise, they see glowing eyes in the dark, which turns out to be a strange well-dressed 'family.'

I recently received the following account:

"I'm sure this story is unbelievable if you were not there, but it happened and is in fact only one of many bizarre occurrences in my life. This one is significant though because my friend was there as a witness to back me up.

When I was in 7th grade, in 1989, my mom was transferred to Mobile, Alabama. My brothers and I used to skateboard, and we often skated at this concrete ditch a few blocks from my house. I estimate it was about 7 feet tall from the base of the ditch to the top at ground level.

One day my friend Sam and I decided to follow the ditch into the woods to see where it led. We skated for quite a while along the bottom of the ditch, just following it as it went deeper into the woods and away from the houses. Eventually the ditch ended at a flat wall. There were 2 tunnels in the wall which continued forward, they were each maybe about 5 feet in diameter, with yellow horizontal bars in front of them. Well the tunnels were pitch black and both of us stood silently there, trying to decide if we were brave enough to climb the bars and continue forward into the tunnels.

After maybe 30 seconds, we suddenly heard a voice coming from the right tunnel - "Come inside," it said. We were both scared, and just frozen in place. Then more voices joined in. "Come inside", "Come join us", along with the sound of a shrill kind of reed instrument. We did not listen to the voices, but just stood there in place. Well, I guess these people realized that we weren't coming in so they decided to come out. And the next part is pretty crazy.

As we stood there, we saw 5 sets of glowing eyes inside that tunnel. They were moving up and down as though walking towards us. The glow was an intense whitish-yellow. At this moment, there must have been a sudden break in my memory because the next thing I remember is 5 people are standing in front of us outside of the tunnel. They appeared to be a family of 5, an adult male and female along with 3 children. All of them were well-dressed, blonde and blue-eyed, and each one had a bicycle. I don't remember them pulling their bikes over the yellow bars, which would've been kind of difficult.

The man held out a small rectangular object in his hand, I couldn't recognize it. He said, "The next time you hear this, you'll know it's us." I'm assuming this was the instrument sound that was coming from the tunnel. Then they got on their bicycles and rode away.

Sam and I talked about that incident for a long time. We, of course, corroborated everything that happened with one another, and I'm pretty certain that if he was not there then I would have discounted most of this incident as imagination." PB

The witness provided further details:

"The very first day we moved to Mobile, my mom drove by that ditch. My brothers and I immediately looked at one another and knew we were gonna go skate there. When we got to the ditch later that day, we were surprised to find scattered animal parts on the floor of the ditch. These were parts of a fairly large animal, like a large dog. The parts had no skin or hair and no blood whatsoever, they were just muscle and sinew and bone.

Strangely, a lot of kids in that town told me that they were devil worshippers. I'm not a religious person but I do find it odd that an unusual number of people in that town seemed to be fascinated with the satanic side of the occult, even at a young age.

Regarding the figures in the tunnel. They looked just like blond-haired blue-eyed humans. Their eyes did not glow when out in the daylight. The man and woman looked to be in their mid 30s, the children were a boy and 2 girls, and their ages appeared to range from about 12 (the oldest) to 6 (the youngest). They were all dressed nice, like a suburban family going to church. Which was obviously WEIRD to see in a sewer tunnel!

I paid particular attention to the youngest girl, because I was so confused as to why these people were in that tunnel, especially with a little child that young. She had dark circles under her eyes and I immediately thought to myself, "That kid looks like she's on drugs."

If you would like my personal opinion, I think that these people were human occultists of some kind, and they were performing a magical ceremony in that tunnel. They were in the middle of this ceremony when we arrived. That is my feeling on the matter." PB

Cryptid Close Encounters: Nessie, Odd Reptile, 'Demon Dog' and Possibly Bigfoot

5 separate cryptid encounters accounts, including a diver's real-life incident with the Loch Ness Monster in 1971.

Here are several cryptid encounter accounts collected by me:

"My husband’s grandmother told a story about when she was a little girl (would have been early 1920s). One of her older family members was on his death bed. The family was all at the house taking care of him and grieving as he was almost gone. The front door was propped open as folks were going in and out to get air, greet people coming by to see the family, etc. She said a “demon dog” of some sort came in the house, ran to the back bedroom, and circled the death bed. They were all freaking out and trying to run it out of the house. Apparently it ran back out.

He died shortly after. She swears that it was an demonic monster looking creature that could most closely be described as a dog. This story has made its rounds in his family and other family members said it was true. They lived in Copper Hill, TN when this happened." CJ

"I was camping with friends (myself and 3 others) at a lake near the town I live in (we were in Minnesota). It’s around 10-11PM and we’re sitting around the fire talking and whatnot, when all of a sudden a small rock hits the folding table next to me and my friend. The rock seemed to come from the trees that were between us and the lake. It spooked us a little bit, but we just laughed it off and made jokes that it could have been a Sasquatch.

The next morning we noticed that a bag of hamburger buns had what I assumed to be a bite taken out of it. The “bite” was very clean and basically a big semicircle (similar shape to a human bite), but MUCH larger. The bag was unopened and in a plastic grocery bag with other food items when I found it. The buns were the only thing that got touched. We figured it couldn’t have been a dog because of how clean the “bite” was and the bag was still on picnic table at the campsite.

The thing that stands out the most to me in thinking it was NOT an animal was the fact that the bitten bag of buns was put back in the grocery bag. The overall experience was weird and I’m still unsure of what took a bite, but I’m thinking it wasn’t a person or some type of common animal." PF

"A close friend of mine, whom I have known since we were kids and has never lied to me, told me about an encounter he had while we were both living in Washington state.

He was up shooting in a abandoned quarry, and he heard the loudest angriest animal growl/howl he has ever heard. He took his 14 gun collection and noped out of there faster than he ever has in his life. He can’t tell me what kind of animal it was. He thinks it might’ve been a Bigfoot. He even searched cryptid sounds online, and found one that sounded very similar, and that one claimed that it came from a Bigfoot." JJ

"I live in southern Wisconsin in the country. Lots of trees, ponds and cornfields are around my area. There is also a really long walking trail usually used for snow mobiles. When I was a kid (early teens), I used to walk on the trail which was right down the road from my house. To describe the trail, it was pretty much a rocky dirt path and on each side of the path there was dense trees.

One day I took my friend with me. It was like the middle of the day and it must've been spring or summer because I don't remember it being cold and there was no snow. Anyway, so we were walking and talking about random stuff and we saw up ahead what looked like a small, dark colored alligator cross the trail from one wooded part to the other wooded part. Walked right in front of us. It looked like the size of a medium-sized dog, but low to the ground and had reptilian features. Kind of looked like a huge turtle without a shell or a monitor lizard. We both turned around and ran back to my house. We don't have monitor lizards here. We get pretty big turtles but they need their shells to live. Never figured out what it was and I never walked on the trail again!" LL

Here is an account from a locally known diver at Loch Ness by the name of Roger Badger in the spring of 1971:

"The boat was to be moored in Urquhart Bay. A lump of concrete with a mooring ring was acquired together with a galvanised mooring buoy and chain to attach them together. A group of us took the gear in one of the vans down to Temple Pier from Achnahannet, and as there were no changing facilities at the pier, I travelled kitted out in a wetsuit.

We did the job of placing the mooring, and as the others loaded the tools and dinghy back into the van, I did a bit of snorkeling so the wetsuit did not get ripped on the gear. I swam out from the small floating jetty which was there in those days. A hundred yards or so from the jetty, the floor of the bay suddenly nose-dives into deep water. I had just passed this point and was about 10 or 15 feet below the surface, but was now in deep water and was thinking that I should turn and go back when I saw an object in front of me.

The water is of course full of peat and is like thick tea. As I got closer I could see a top and bottom to the object, but it extended left and right out of my vision. The surface of the object was rough textured and rounded in cross-section. I saw no protuberances in the part I could see. I'm not sure how far from the object I was, maybe 15-20 feet. It was moving from my right to my left, that is towards the main loch. This sounds like a long drawn-out sighting, but in reality it occupied only a couple of seconds. I realised what I was looking at, and decided that I should not be there. I have size 13 feet and my swim flippers are large and strong. I surfaced quickly and made for the pier as fast as I could.

Simon Dinsdale's eye was caught by me surfacing, and he said I was moving so fast that I was aquaplaning on my chest. As I made my way in, I was terrified that I was being chased, but I noticed Mr. Menzies' nephews playing in a boat tied to the pier, and his black L"abrador coming into the water to meet me, so I risked a look back and realised that I was alone.

Simon and the others asked what had happened, and I told them that I had seen something. Later at Achnahannet, I sat down with Tim Dinsdale and completed a sighting report form and he interviewed me on tape. He and David James decided to make the story public, and the press came to Achnahannet and did the interview. This resulted in as many different versions of the story as there were newspapers represented.

A lot of people said that I was too shallow to have seen anything, but when we discussed it, we realised that this is exactly where Nessie would look for fish, as close to the shallows as possible, but still in deep water."

Black-Eyed Kid Approaches Witness 'Asking For Help'

A woman notices a young boy walking around the neighborhood in bare feet. He later approached her and asks that she help him find another boy. She then notices the black eyes.

The following account was recently forwarded to me:

"First of all, some back story. My mom and I are both firm believers in all things paranormal. We know the stories of black-eyed children very well. Two kids with no emotion and black shadowy faces asking to come inside to use the phone, grab something to eat, or even to ask you for just simple help but if you help bad things will happen. We are believers but, of course, we never thought either of us would actually encounter something like this.

On a Friday night my mom got home late from work. There was a meeting about her work staying open during quarantine so she didn’t get to our house until around about 7:30 or so. After pulling up in front of our house she noticed a kid walking down our street. Now, my neighborhood doesn’t really have younger kids at all, mainly just us teenagers, so my mom found this kid walking kind of strange. She even says to my dad, who is on the phone with her and he jokes about the kid jumping on her car to scare her. You know a typical dad trying to be funny. Then just as fast as he was in front of her and moving to her he was gone down the road and around the corner.

Twenty minutes go by before my mom hangs up the phone and steps out of the car. From behind her she hears a child-like “excuse me.” After dropping her purse and screaming she looks to the kid who she notices is the same boy who had disappeared around the corner almost half an hour before. Immediately she told us she had this overwhelming feeling of pure fear through her entire body. She stares this boy down and notes that she can’t see his face at all because of his hood and shadows from the street lamp behind him and.....he has no shoes. It's 8 PM on a Friday night after a stay at home order was just put out and there was a little boy running around barefoot in just shorts and a hoodie. It was like he was trying to dress like a regular person but just barely missed the mark.

This boy with his head down asks my mom if she had seen another little boy and that he couldn’t find him anywhere meaning he was one of a pair. My mom, who has 3 kids and is one of the most genuinely kind people I know had no urge whatsoever to help this child in front of her or had any kind of sympathy for his situation. She just felt wrong, like there was something off and she needed to leave. In her head her only thought was that she needed to run up our porch steps and get inside. However, what came out of her mouth was completely different.

She tells this little boy “No, I haven’t honey. Where did you lose him? I can help you look.” Every part of her was telling her to leave and that this was wrong but she offered to help. It’s like the children knew she thought something was off though because right at that second another boy in the distance screamed. Of course my mom jumped and her fear spiked but the boy...was eerily calm still. He looked at her and she suddenly noticed the black eyes. In a monotone voice the boy said, “Oh, there he is,” turned in the opposite direction and ran up our street, then turned left and was gone." HS

In a series of three lectures given on the subject of “Flying Saucers and the Coming Space Probes” during late 1958 and into early 1959, in the California cities of Vista (29 November 1958), Long Beach (3 January 1959) and Van Nuys (13 February 1959), the famous Theosophist and researcher of esoterica, Riley Hansard Crabb (1912-1994), detailed some of the amazing discoveries he had made about UFOs and their origin.  As Crabb was convinced that the flying saucers were real and piloted by advanced beings from other worlds, he had little doubt that these entities, being masters of space travel, would also be masters of deception and camouflage, when necessary.  And not only could these extraterrestrials conceal their spaceships, but their home world of Venus as well, just in case American or Soviet astronauts ever reached that cloud-shrouded planet with their rocket ships.  All they would find, upon making a landing on Venus, is a planet too inhospitable for any kind of life that we would be familiar with as normally thriving here on Earth.

Flying Saucers Camouflaged as Clouds

Crabb started off his lecture with the UFO encounter of a married couple from Lake Girard, New York, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hill, whose experience began one pleasant June night in 1957 when they were sitting out on their deck, overlooking the serene waters.  At about 8:30 p.m., a sudden glow on the waters of the lake caused them to look up and see a shining disk in the sky, appearing slightly smaller than the full moon.  There were three rings that were emitted by the disc, somehow forming into an L-shape above.  “While we watched this,” Ed Hill told New Jersey UFO investigator August C. Roberts, who was dispatched to Lake Girard by Crabb and tape recording the New Yorker’s testimony, “I heard the drone of an approaching plane.  A cloud came out and sort of camouflaged the three little objects.  I could still see the glow in the cloud, which became bigger and covered everything.  After the plane went by and out of sight, the cloud just kind of disappeared.  Then the object slowly moved away toward the west, the three little objects still clinging to it.  They just backed out into space.”

Aimee Michel, a UFO investigator from France, wrote about a similar UFO encounter in his book, Flying Saucers and the Straight-Line Mystery (Paris, France:  Editorial Arthaud, 1958).  In this case, it was 5 p.m. on 14 September 1954 in southwestern France, when hundreds of farmers and residents viewed a UFO on the outskirts of the village of St. Prouant.  One of the witnesses to this most remarkable event was 34-year-old Georges Fortin, who told Michel, “I was working in the fields with my men when all at once, emerging from the thick layer of clouds that looked like a storm coming up, we saw a sort of luminous, blue-violet mist, of a regular shape like a cigar or carrot.  It came out of the layer of clouds in an almost horizontal position, slightly tilted toward the ground….  Whenever it moved, it did so all in one piece, as if it were actually some gigantic machine surrounded by mists.”  Michel noted that most observers in the area reported that this mist-covered UFO descended to an altitude of about half a mile above their heads; and that Fortin had told him that after the object had leveled off, “All over the countryside, everyone dropped their tools and were staring up in the sky like us.”

The UFO tilted until it stood vertically; and then from the bottom of this “cigar” came a white vapor trail spinning toward the ground.  This “mother ship” then rose again, whence it seemed to manifest a spiral of light wrapped around it from top to bottom.  “After the smoke trail had vanished completely,” said Fortin, “we could see the object that was ‘sewing’ it, a little metallic disk shining like a mirror and reflecting, in its rapid movements, flashes of light from the huge vertical object.”  This UFO display continued for half an hour before the little disk was taken aboard at a high speed, at which time the “cigar” tilted back to the horizontal and disappeared upward into the cloud layer.  Michel and other French UFO researchers found dozens of confirmations of Fortin’s account from countless others in the St. Prouant district.  Michel was disappointed, however, that there was only one story about this incident that appeared in the local newspaper.  

Crabb asked his Vista, California, audience, “How often have you and I heard that certain cloud formations show up on radar scopes as solid objects?  And who knows what, if anything, is in the cloud other than moisture?”

Before concluding his talk, Crabb brought up the strange disappearance of a British major during the Korean conflict.  He was a pilot in the Royal Air Force flying his plane into a cloud one day, yet never came out again!  The esoteric researcher commented, “If this pilot did not crash unnoticed from ordinary causes, then only two possibilities present themselves:  Either he and his plane were kidnapped by a flying saucer or he suffered a fate similar to that of Captain Thomas F.
