Former Federal Prosecutor ‘Disgusted’ by Hunter Biden Lawyer: ‘That’s Obstruction of Justice, That’s a Federal Offense!’ | The Gateway Pundit

Former federal prosecutor Kash Patel is “disgusted” by the conduct of the Justice Department in the Hunter Biden case and asserted that the first son’s attorney obstructed justice.

Patel’s comments came in response to a Saturday Politico story detailing a letter that Hunter Biden’s then-attorney Chris Clark wrote to federal prosecutors threatening to put President Joe Biden on the stand as a fact witness in the case against his son involving alleged tax evasion and illegal gun possession crimes.

“This of all cases justifies neither the spectacle of a sitting president testifying at a criminal trial nor the potential for a resulting Constitutional crisis,” Clark wrote U.S. Attorney David Weiss’ office in October 2022. Weiss has since been named special counsel in the matter. Clark left Hunter Biden’s legal team last week, telling the court he may become a fact witness regarding the case.

Last month, Clark thought he had successfully negotiated a plea deal with Weiss in which Hunter would plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges.

Additionally, if his client stayed drug-free for two years, the gun possession charge would be dropped.

Finally, under the terms of the deal, Hunter would have been immune from future prosecution over all his shady overseas business dealings.

The sweetheart deal blew up in court when the judge questioned details of it in late July. Hunter then pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Podcast host Benny Johnson asked Patel if he was ashamed of the conduct of his former employer.

Former Federal Prosecutor Kash Patel UNLOADS on Biden DOJ after Biden lawyer CAUGHT bullying prosecutors, obstructing justice to cover up Biden Family crimes:

“I am DISGUSTED.” pic.twitter.com/509IkCy6s6

— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) August 21, 2023

“As a former national security prosecutor of the DOJ, I am not offended. I am disgusted at the schleps over there that are rolling around in their two-tiered system of justice,” answered Patel, who also worked in the Department of Defense during the Trump administration.

He continued, “I know that if I ever went there as a public defender, and I say ‘Hey I’m going to cause a constitutional crisis if you charge my client with x, so maybe don’t do it,’” that would be a major problem.

“Do you know what that is?” Patel asked. “That’s obstruction of justice. That’s a federal offense. You can’t do that as an attorney, and you can’t leverage the strongest position on God’s green earth, the commander in chief’s seat, which is what they did.”

Patel argued that it’s not a coincidence that Clark’s October letter to and email correspondence with the DOJ leaked now.

“This is Hunter Biden’s attorney leaking these documents to make the DOJ look bad,” he said.

Patel stated it would actually be bad for Pres. Biden if he took the witness stand for Hunter.

“Can you imagine the defense? His dad and his son on the same side of the defense table and the guy goes up on the witness stand for cross examination? What a freaking circus,” Patel said.

“The amount of felonies Joe Biden would commit by lying under oath, which is yet another offense, would be catastrophic,” he added.

Patel contended the only way to defeat the DOJ and the FBI is to “embarrass them publicly.”

“And Chris Clark to his credit, that is exactly what he’s doing,” he said.

Johnson asked Patel if he had ever had a defendant’s attorney threaten him the way that Clark did the DOJ prosecutors.

“No, because as bad as a defendant might be, even those guys aren’t going to come in there and be like, ‘You’re going to get blown up by my defendant’s colleagues if you don’t make this case go away.’ That’s the analogy here,” Patel answered.

“You know who’s more powerful than a terrorist? The president of the United States,” he added.

“And they’re saying, ‘I’m going to use daddy’s button to blow up your Department of Justice where Merrick Garland, your boss, works for my client’s dad. This never happens,” Patel said.

In other words the implied threat is if you prosecute Hunter Biden, it will be the end of your career at DOJ.

“I don’t know how they goose this thing. I don’t think there’s a plea deal on planet earth that can be salvaged from this wreckage,” Patel said.

“I think that Hunter Biden’s got to go to trial. It will be funny, and I’ll call it right now. There’s no way this guy goes to trial before the next election cycle. They will kick this thing down for four years, and no one will even remember it,” he added.

“They’ll say, ‘We’re not going to interfere with the election process, so we won’t try Hunter until after 2024, but we’ll try Trump every single day until November of 2024, if possible,’” Patel forecasted.

He believes the American people will see this for what it is, which is an entirely politically motivated prosecution of Trump, which will in the end fail.

Agree.

As Thomas Jefferson so aptly put it, God’s “justice cannot sleep forever.”

“Everything They Told You About Ukraine Is a Lie” – Episode 18: Tucker Carlson Sits Down with Colonel Douglas MacGregor (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Tucker Carlson sat down with Colonel Douglas MacGregor in his latest Tucker on Twitter series.

Colonel MacGregor was a regular on Tucker’s former program on Tucker Carlson Tonight on FOX News. McGregor has consistently condemned US participation in the Ukrainian War with Russia.

Here is the full interview from Twitter-X:

Ep. 18 Into the abyss: Colonel Douglas Macgregor tells us why the Ukraine war must end now. pic.twitter.com/a3bGLvJC4s

— Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) August 21, 2023

Vigilant FOX reported on Tucker’s introduction where he laid out the truth about the mainstream media reporting on this massacre

MacGregor explains why this bloody war must end now.

“Pretty much everything that NBC News and the New York Times have told you about the war in Ukraine is a lie.”

“‘The Russian army is incompetent,’ they claim. ‘Ukraine is a democracy.’ ‘Vladimir Putin is Hitler, and he’s trying to take over the world.’ Thankfully, the Ukrainians are winning. None of that is true.

“Every claim is false. The last one, especially. The Ukrainian Army is not winning. In fact, it’s losing badly. Ukraine is being destroyed. Its population is being slaughtered in lopsided battles with a technologically superior enemy or scattered by the millions to the rest of the globe as refugees. Ukraine is running out of soldiers.

“As that happens, the question will inevitably arise who’s going to replace them? If the Ukrainians can’t beat Putin, who will? The answer, of course, will be us. American troops will fight the Russian army in Eastern Europe. That’s most likely. And the assumption is we’ll win. But will we win?

Probably not, says former Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor, a decorated combat veteran who advised the Secretary of Defense in the last administration. The US, says Macgregor, is on the brink of a catastrophic war that could very easily destroy us. Few Americans seem to understand that, but they should.”

Mcgregor warned Tucker Carlson and his audience, “The US is on the brink of a catastrophic war that could easily destroy us.”

iPhone 15 Pro Max release date expected to lag behind other models

The iPhone 15 Pro Max release date could lag behind the rest of the iPhone 15 range by as much as a month.

According to a major analyst note viewed by a 9to5Mac source, Sony has been unable to supply the fancy new image sensor used by Apple’s next super-sized flagship phone in time for the required September rollout.

With Apple’s launch event set to take place on September 12 or 13, the first hardware deliveries will likely take place from September 22. However, with this claimed three to four week delay, the iPhone 15 Pro Max might not be delivered until as late as October 13.

We’re expecting Apple to deliver big changes to the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera system, with a series-first periscope lens system offering zoom levels beyond the usual 3x.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of potential delays for the iPhone 15 line. Around a month ago, reliable Bank of America Global Research analyst Wamsi Mohan claimed that the range would miss its usual tight turn-around, and wouldn’t ship until October, representing a delay of a few weeks.

With this latest rumour, the claim is that the iPhone 15 range will be split in terms of delivery times, and that wouldn’t be the first time for the brand. As recently as last year, the iPhone 14 Plus shipped later than the iPhone 14, while in 2020 both the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max arrived weeks after the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

Couple Who Survived Maui Fires: ‘Biden Has Really Failed Us’ (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

A couple living in Hawaii who survived the fires on Maui, and who claim that they are not political people, recently said that Joe Biden has ‘failed’ them, and they are absolutely right.

Biden’s response to this disaster has been an utter disgrace from the very beginning.

Do you remember how Democrats and the media positively savaged George W. Bush for flying over the destruction of Hurricane Katrina? Imagine if instead of doing that, he said ‘no comment’ while lounging on a beach.

NewsNation reports:

Hawaii wildfire survivor: ‘Biden has really failed us’

President Joe Biden is under intense scrutiny for his response to the Maui wildfires. One Hawaii resident says the president has “failed” the island.

As flames erupted in Lahaina, Mike Cicchino and his wife jumped into the ocean and spent more than three hours in crashing waves to escape the fire. Cicchino says he’s still coming to grips with what he calls the most terrifying experience of his life…

Cicchino said local and state officials have refused to answer questions about the ages of victims, specifically children.

“It’s just sad that they’re trying to hide so much from us and especially about the children,” he said, later adding: “When somebody asked our mayor the other day to just give us an estimate of how many children (died), he got confrontational, and we don’t need somebody that’s confrontational with locals that are just trying to get answers.”

He also says the federal response has been “insulting.”

“We’re not very political people. We really don’t go one way or the other, but Biden has really failed us. One of the worst disasters in U.S. history happens and he hasn’t been out here. It’s been two weeks on Tuesday,” Cicchino said. “What kind of president does that?”

Watch the video below:

If this disaster had happened on Trump’s watch, these people would be leading the news broadcasts on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS.

They are being ignored by the media and the reason for that could not be more obvious.

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority

When it comes to most smartwatches, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, the most common tips and tricks we share are how to stretch out battery life. Disable a few superfluous features to stretch battery life on your Galaxy Watch 6.

Always-on display: Your Galaxy Watch won’t have its always-on screen mode enabled out of the box, but if you’ve since turned this feature on, you may want to backtrack. It’s one of the fastest ways to drain your battery life. Open the Settings menu, scroll down to and tap Display, then tap Always on Display.Continuous heart rate monitoring: Most users don’t necessarily need continuous heart rate monitoring. Open the Samsung Health app, then scroll down to and tap Settings. Tap Heart rate and choose either ten-minute intervals or manual monitoring.Stress monitoring: Likewise, disabling continuous stress monitoring will also boost battery life. Open the Samsung Health app, then scroll down to and tap Settings. Tap Stress and tap manual only.Screen brightness: Another way to stretch battery life is to decrease the brightness of your display. Swipe down from your home screen to access your quick settings panel, then tap the brightness icon (small sun). Reduce your brightness using your touch or physical bezel.

5 Blue Zone Breakfast Recipes for Healthy Aging

Much as we’re aware of the importance of eating a healthy breakfast, we all have occasional (okay, or more) mornings where we miss the mark. It still bares repeating: Coffee shouldn’t be considered a meal replacement, and there is plenty of evidence to back the notion that breakfast is an important meal to include for overall health.

To help get us back on the right (breakfast) track, we’ve turned to the Blue Zones—home to many of the longest-living people in the world—to see what they’re serving up. Ahead, we delve into some of the main breakfast staples of these regions and share a few simple recipes for healthy aging.

Why is breakfast so important for healthy aging?

According to a recent study of over 30,000 American adults, folks who neglect to eat breakfast tend to miss out on key nutrients—calcium, vitamin C, and fiber, to name a few. This is one of the reasons why dietitians often stress the importance of eating a good breakfast daily.

Dan Buettner, a National Geographic reporter, longevity expert, and founder of the Blue Zones, also firmly believes that eating a healthy breakfast consistently can boost your longevity over time. His personal favorite? Buettner shared in a recent Instagram post that his go-to breakfast meal is as simple as it gets: oatmeal. Aside from tasting great, he explains that it’s high in soluble fiber (which helps with digestion), protein, and vitamins.

Related Stories

Of course, if oatmeal doesn’t sound as exciting, Buettner says there are plenty of other Blue Zone-inspired breakfast staples to try. To that end, his other close favorite might surprise you: It’s minestrone soup. While in the U.S. folks might be more accustomed to slurping soup for lunch or dinner, in Sardinia, Italy (one of the five Blue Zones), it’s the norm.

So, what does breakfast look like for folks in the Blue Zones?

According to Buettner’s research, breakfast (or the first meal of the day) in the Blue Zones usually consists of protein, complex carbohydrates (like beans or veggies), and plant-based fats (like nuts, seeds, and oils). Additionally, he notes that the majority of the day’s calories are consumed before noon in these regions.

According to Buettner’s research, breakfast (or the first meal of the day) in the Blue Zones usually consists of protein, complex carbohydrates (like beans or veggies), and plant-based fats (like nuts, seeds, and oils).

To be more specific, Buettner breaks it down by zone for us. Nicoyans often eat two breakfasts with a light dinner; Ikarians and Sardinians make lunch the big meal of the day; Okinawans often skip dinner altogether; Many Adventists (in Loma Linda, California) eat only two meals a day, one mid-morning and another around 4 p.m.

That said, ahead we share five delicious Blue Zone-inspired breakfast recipes that highlight the foods commonly consumed for breakfast in each of these vastly different regions.

5 delicious Blue Zone breakfast recipes

1. Savory Oatmeal

Much like Buettner, folks in Loma Linda, California rely on oatmeal and oats as a go-to breakfast option. But if you’re looking to change things up from the usual sweet cinnamon-apple oatmeal combination, this savory oatmeal recipe is the perfect choice. It’s made with carrots, salsa, and avocado. Trust: You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how tasty savory oats can be.

2. Minestrone Soup

If you’re more in the camp of noshing on something savory (over sweet) for breakfast, it might be time to turn to a soul-warming cup of minestrone soup as the Sardinians do in Italy. This recipe is packed with veggies like celery, carrots, and fennel, and tons of protein thanks to fava beans, a healthy aging staple. Dare we say, it’s soup-erb.

3. Miso Soup

In Japan, it’s uncommon to find sweet waffles and pancakes at the breakfast buffet. Instead, you’ll discover that most breakfast items will be savory. (And like the Sardinians, soup is also on the menu!) This nourishing miso soup recipe features ingredients like gut-healthy fermented miso paste, shiitake mushrooms, and tofu. Pair it with a side of grilled fish, and you’ve got yourself the perfect Japanese-style breakfast.

COVID-19 Mandates are Back: Atlanta-Based Morris Brown College Reinstates Masks Mandates, Social Distancing, Quarantine, Contact Tracing Effective Immediately Despite No Reported COVID-19 Cases on Campus | The Gateway Pundit

Source: Morris Brown College Fountain Hall/Wikimedia Commons

Morris Brown College, a private institution in Atlanta, has announced that it will require students and employees to wear face masks on campus once again.

The decision comes just a week after classes began and will be in effect for two weeks.

The announcement was made on Sunday in a letter to faculty, staff, and students, citing “reports of positive cases among students in the Atlanta University Center” as the reason behind the decision, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Morris Brown President Kevin James informed the news outlet via email on Monday that there have been no reports of COVID-19 cases on Morris Brown’s campus itself. He characterized the measures as “precautionary” in nature.

In his message to the college community, Dr. Kevin James stated:

“Effective immediately, Morris Brown College has reinstated its COVID-19 mask mandate due to reports of positive cases among students in the Atlanta University Center. Over the next 14 days, the following protocols will be in place:

Mask Wearing: All students and employees are required to wear face masks (staff may remove in their offices while alone).Physical Distancing: Students must maintain physical distancing.Large Gatherings: Institutional guidelines for gathering sizes must be followed. There will be no parties or large student events on campus for the next two weeks.Isolation and Quarantine: Students must adhere to institutional policies and CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine.Contact Tracing: Compliance with college-initiated contact tracing efforts is expected.Symptom Monitoring: Students and employees are obligated to undergo temperature checks upon campus arrival.Regular Hand Washing/Sanitization: Frequent hand washing is expected from all students and employees. In case of a positive COVID-19 test, isolate for at least 5 days and inform your instructor for virtual class arrangements.”

“We prioritize your safety and seek your cooperation in preventing another pandemic,” James said in his campus letter.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey has confirmed that it will disenroll students who refuse to comply with their vaccine requirement.

Outrageously, this has been Rutgers’ standard policy since August 2021 according to the Brownstone Institute. On March 25, 2021, it became the first university in the nation to announce it would require students to take COVID vaccines for fall 2021 enrollment.

Rutgers then doubled down in 2022 even after the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) admitted that the Covid shots could not prevent transmission or infection.

Rutgers as of today remains one of less than 100 universities out of 2,679 four-year colleges and universities that maintain COVID vaccine mandates.

“Most Anti-Science College” in America Set to Kick Out Students this Month for Being Unvaccinated – Senator Rand Paul Responds

The Gateway Pundit has extensively reported on the unusual number of young people who have died suddenly in recent years. Some have alleged a connection between the vaccine and these tragic passings.

In any case, science has shown time and again that young, healthy people do not need the COVID shot. When will our so-called institutions of higher-learning catch up to this reality?

With the upcoming election drawing near, leftist indoctrination universities, far-left media outlets, so-called health experts, and the Biden regime, are pushing a narrative of COVID-19 hysteria. Critics argue that this concerted effort is a politically motivated attempt to steal the election again.

Learn Boxing Combos for Beginners in This 24-Minute Workout

Each month, a new trainer takes us through four of the best workouts they have in their back pocket. Follow along weekly for new ways to sweat it out with us. See All

In shadowboxing, your opponent is imaginary. There’s no one in the ring but you. But keeping a target you’re sparring with and trying to knock out in your mind’s eye will help you elevate a shadowboxing session from practicing punches to engaging your whole body and mind. (And if you pick the right imaginary target, it can honestly be kinda cathartic—trust us.)

This new workout from Rumble boxing instructor and Well+Good’s Trainer of the Month Club trainer Olivia Platania will give you lots of chances to practice just that with plenty of boxing combos for beginners.

Over the last few weeks, Platania has gone over the basics of boxing, including the punches and positions you need to know, as well as the mobility and conditioning you need to prepare your body for action. Today’s workout is about putting it all together in different boxing combos for beginners, and getting comfortable with the different punches—while actively engaging with your imaginary opponent.

“I want to take things up a notch from the last time and really, really visualize where that opponent is,” Platania says. “So if they are right in front of me, I want to hit that jab at the same point each time.”

Related Stories

Beginning to transform the technical moves and numbers into what they’re trying to accomplish will help tap into your boxer’s intuition. “It’s a lot of names, it’s a lot of numbers,” Platania says of the individual boxing moves. One way to not get overwhelmed is to “make this a realistic experience for yourself.”

That aspect of realism also plays into your defense. You don’t just want to be doing a boxer’s bounce for the cardiovascular workout: You want to stay light on your feet to keep your opponent on the move.

“Notice again how much I’m moving in between each punch,” Platania says. “Boxers, I want you to keep in mind it is harder to hit a moving target, right? If I were to stay still, someone’s going to hit me right away. If I’m moving, it’s going to be much harder for that opponent to catch me.”

It’s a lot to remember, but Platania will guide you through every punch, jab, and cross. Whoever or whatever your imaginary opponent is, keep them in your sights during these boxing combos for beginners. Even if you’re normally a peaceful person in real life, feel free to let your ferocious side loose in the (imaginary) ring.

A 24-minute workout featuring boxing combos for beginners

Format: A warm-up recapping the punches, followed by six three-minute rounds with one minute of rest between rounds.

Equipment needed: Some space to move around.

Who is this for: Beginning boxers who have already learned the basic punches.

Warm-up: Recapping punches

Platania begins by going over each punch and its corresponding number, which serves as a shorthand for the move. For a more in-depth explanations, watch Platania’s shadowboxing workout for beginners video. Here’s what we’re working with in this session:

Boxing stance: Dominant leg staggered behind your front leg, slight bend in your knees, arms up.

Duck: A defensive move that involves dropping your knees, bobbing down, and popping right back up.

The punches:

Jab: A straight out punch with your front hand, aiming for the eyesCross: A full extension with your back hand, turning the knuckles, back foot, and hip to the front, aiming for the noseFront hook: Your front arm wraps up and around, with a big turn of the hip, aiming for  the side of the jawBack hook: Back arm wraps up and around, aiming for other side of the jawFront uppercut: Drive the front arm up from below, aiming into the bellyBack uppercut: Drive the back arm up from below, aiming into the bellyRound 1: Jabs (3 minutes)

Round one comprises three minutes practicing the primary punch, jabs (number one). You’ll vary speed and aim to build strength, since this punch uses your non-dominant arm.

“It’s the most important punch in boxing,” Platania says. “It is the most versatile punch. We could use this for power. We could use it for speed, defense. You could gauge your opponent. This is where you could block a punch. That’s why this punch is super important.” It’s a lot for one arm, so prepare to push through some fatigue.

Recovery: one-minute shake out and shoulder stretches

Round 2: Practicing all six punches

Platania take us through numbers one through six in different orders to help us re-familiarize with the moves.

“We’re approaching these punches with confidence today,” Platania says. “It’s okay if they’re not perfect. It’s all about progress and that’s why we do this. That’s why we run round after round.”

Recovery: bodyweight squats for 30 seconds, 30 seconds of rest

Round 3: Defense and combo-building

In this introduction to boxing combos for beginners, Platania shows us how to combine different punches to knock out an opponent.

“I want you to turn that brain on and really start to memorize the combos,” Platania says. “Get them into your body. Feel them out. Get that muscle memory activated. So when it comes time later, we tap right back in.”

Combos:

Jab, cross, duckJab, cross, duck, back uppercut.Front hook, cross, back uppercut, front hookJab, jab, duck, front uppercutFront uppercut, back hook

Recovery: 30-second plank, 30 seconds of rest

Round 4: Conditioning

Platania will train you in reactionary skills. When she says go, you’ll execute ones and twos with speed. When she says drop, you duck. Then, you’ll do more combos for speed: A front hook and back hook for one minute, followed by 30 seconds of four uppercuts, then 30 seconds of four hooks

Recovery: 30 seconds of butt kicks, 30 seconds of rest

Round 5: Building on combos

You’ll return to the combos from round three, focusing on building to two main combos, which you’ll practice for a minute and a half each:

Jab, cross, duck, back uppercut, front hookJab, jab, duck, front uppercut, back hook

“Once you start to get comfy with it, I want you to speed up the setup and then go heavy on that knockout,” Platania says.

Trump Throws A Tantrum Over Having To Post Bail In Georgia

Trump complained on his social media platform about being required to put up a $200,000 bond in Georgia as this is the first time he has been treated like any other charged person.

Trump posted on Truth Social, “The failed District Attorney of Fulton County (Atlanta), Fani Willis, insisted on a $200,000 Bond from me. I assume, therefore, that she thought I was a “flight” risk – I’d fly far away, maybe to Russia, Russia, Russia, share a gold domed suite with Vladimir, never to be seen or heard from again. Would I be able to take my very “understated” airplane with the gold TRUMP affixed for all to see. Probably not, I’d be much better off flying commercial – I’m sure nobody would recognize me!”

Trump probably hasn’t flown commercially in 40 or 50 years and might lose his mind if he ever had to share a plane with the sort of people who vote for him. It would probably crush his ego if he went on a plane and no one recognized him.

The former president is unhappy that he isn’t getting the special treatment he is used to receiving on his frequent visits through the criminal justice system and being treated like someone accused of breaking the law doesn’t sit well with him.

It is doubtful that Trump would flee to Russia. Putin invaded Ukraine, and we all know the lengths that Trump will go to avoid potential military service in any way.

4-Ingredient High-Protein S’Mores Smoothie Recipe

For me, the epitome of relaxation is spending some time in the great outdoors, which is exactly what I experienced at Getaway House in Running Springs, California, just a few weeks ago.

The concept is simple: Tiny cabins in nature (with the luxuries of heating, cooling, and a hot shower included). The catch? They happen to be situated in 30 of the most idyllic spots throughout the country and offer the perfect setting to recharge, disconnect, and, most importantly, take a deep breath of fresh air. (And, yes, it’s as beautiful as the photos make it out to be. Cue: Pictures of my dog living his best life.)

So, you finally book your Getaway House—time to pack for a weekend trip in the mountains. You’ll need a few essentials: a flashlight, hiking boots, and the ingredients to make some sort of ooey-gooey s’mores concoction. Although I came well-prepared for my trip, the risk of wildfires in the local area prevented us from starting our own campfire (to roast some s’mores) this time around, which resulted in a week-long obsession for finding a way to make them at home. But with no campfire setup nearby, I did what anyone else should do—made a campfire s’mores smoothie packed with loads of protein, gut-boosting probiotics, and a healthy serving of nostalgia. Swoon.

S’mores smoothies = the fall “it” drink (if you know what’s good)

POV: Pumpkin patches popping up, PSLs are back on the menu, and the leaves are starting to turn the shades of a sunset. Fall is obviously right around the corner, which means camping trips are a must. It’s not too hot (hi, summer), not too cold (hi, winter), and sitting around a campfire telling spooky stories is the perfect weekend plan. So, what else is on the fall-inspired menu? S’mores, obviously. As simple as the recipe may be, something about the gooey fire-roasted marshmallows sandwiched between layers of crunchy graham crackers and rich chocolate always does the trick.

That said, setting up a campfire to roast some s’mores might not be as practical or even possible in most cases. But you know what is? This campfire s’mores smoothie recipe by Lifeway Kefir, which can be made anywhere, any day, any time.

What’s goes in a no-campfire-necessary s’mores smoothie recipe

Flavor comes first, so you can bet you’ll find the usual suspects in this smoothie rendition: Toasted marshmallows (for that iconic toasty flavor), graham crackers (we love Partake’s Classic Garhams, which are gluten-free and contain anti-inflammatory spices like cinnamon), and chocolate chips (Enjoy Life Baking’s chocolate chip are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, vegan, nut-free, and the list goes on).

But this isn’t your typical, run-of-the-mill s’mores recipe by any means. In fact, this recipe is packed with loads of protein and gut-boosting probiotics thanks to the star ingredient, Lifeway’s Vanilla Whole Milk Kefir.

For those who aren’t familiar with kefir, it’s a tart and tangy cultured milk drink that’s high in protein (10 grams per cup), calcium, and vitamin D. Lifeway’s products are also made with a unique blend of 12 live and active cultures that are a blessing for the gut. What’s more, kefir is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and has antihypertensive properties, making it the number one ingredient to add to smoothies for supporting the microbiome, as recommended by Caroline Margolis, RD, a registered dietitian at Lifeway Foods.

But can’t or don’t consume dairy? We have options. Lifeway has a series of probiotic-rich, dairy-free, and organic cultured oat milk products that come in various flavors, including plain, strawberry, mixed berry, blueberry, and peach. And, yes, vegan marshmallows do exist. Dandies Vegan Marshmallows are made with tapioca, but based on their appearance and taste, you’d never know the difference.

Pro tip: Save some marshmallows to top the smoothie and use a handheld culinary torch to brûlée the marshmallows for even more campfire flavor and vibes. Although you might not have the peace and quiet of a mountaintop cabin, you don’t (always) need a campfire to enjoy s’mores any day of the week after all, which will do… for now.
