Oppo Reno 10 5G vs Samsung Galaxy A54 5G: Which mid-ranger is best?

Oppo has just revealed the Reno 10 5G, the latest mid-ranger to enter the UK market – but how does it compare to one of the most popular mid-rangers around, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G?

While the Galaxy A54 5G certainly has a lot going for it, including a premium design, great compact display and decent everyday performance, the Oppo Reno 10 5G is coming in strong with a bigger display, better cameras and faster charging.

The question is, which is best for your needs? That’s where we at Trusted Reviews come in. While we are yet to go hands-on with the Oppo Reno 10 5G, we have used the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G extensively, and here are some of the key differences between the two mid-range smartphones. 

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has a more premium build

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is a slick smartphone with a design that mirrors that of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, complete with the same minimalistic design and housing-less cameras on the rear. In fact, put the S23 and A54 5G side-by-side, and you’ll be hard-pressed to tell the difference.

That’s also down to the fact that the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has a glass rear in place of the plastic rear used by the Oppo Reno 10 5G and most of the mid-range competition. The glass rear instantly gives the phone a much more premium feel than its £449 price tag suggests, though the flip side is that it’s more prone to shattering than the plastic alternative.

That’s not to say that the Oppo Reno 10 5G isn’t a looker – the curvy design of the Reno 10 also looks premium, and the exclusive Oppo Glow finish on the rear not only glistens in the light but is said to provide added resistance against scratches from keys and coins, helping the phone stay fresh for longer without the need for a case.

It’s also pretty lightweight at 185g, considering it has a large 6.7-inch OLED screen.  

The Oppo Reno 10 5G has a telephoto lens

One key area where the Oppo Reno 10 5G stands out compared to the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is photography, despite the fact that both phones sport a trio of lenses on the rear. 

More specifically, the Oppo Reno 10 5G sports a main 65MP snapper with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP 112-degree ultrawide lens and a new 32MP 2x telephoto lens, with the latter a totally new addition to the Oppo Reno series and a bit of a rarity on a mid-range smartphone. 

Oppo claims that the use of an RGBW sensor should provide great results, even in lower light scenarios, and a Pro Portrait mode allows you to tweak the colour profile, bokeh and more.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, on the other hand, sports a dual camera offering comprised of a 50MP main, a 12MP ultrawide and a paltry 5MP macro lens, with no telephoto lens available – you’ll have to opt for the premium Samsung Galaxy S23 for that. 

We found the A54 5G was perfectly capable of capturing detailed shots from both lenses in daylight, though low light performance left much to be desired, and it was clear the macro lens was only present to bump up the camera count, rather than providing a detailed close-up shot. 

Both offer similar levels of processing power

With a mid-range focus from both smartphones, you shouldn’t expect flagship-level performance. 

We’re yet to benchmark the Oppo Reno 10 5G and its combination of a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 and 8GB of RAM but we expect similar performance from the Exynos 1380 and 8GB of RAM from Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G, which we’ve tested extensively. 

The Galaxy A54 5G’s chipset provides solid day-to-day performance with smooth scrolling on TikTok, the ability to play games at medium settings and more.

It’s not going to satiate the needs of mobile gamers, but there are dedicated gaming phones that squeeze the most out of the mobile chipsets as humanly possible. 

The other key factor to consider is storage, and this is an area where Oppo excels with 256GB on offer as standard from the Reno 10 5G. The Galaxy A54 5G is also available with 256GB of storage, but you’ll have to pay extra for it – the base model comes with half that at 128GB. 

The Oppo Reno 10 5G has faster charging

Samsung isn’t a brand well known for its fast charging capabilities – sure, its top-end Galaxy S23 Ultra can charge at 45W, but that’s hardly the fastest charging around at the flagship level, with over double that available from the 120W Xiaomi 13 Pro. 

That’s also the case with the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, which caps out at 25W charging – and there isn’t a charger in the box either. In testing with a compatible 25W charger, we found that it’d get around 41% charge in 30 minutes, with a full charge taking just over an hour and a half.

On the other hand, the Oppo Reno 10 5G sports Oppo’s 67W SuperVOOC charging capabilities that the company claims can deliver a full charge of its 5000mAh battery in just 47 minutes – half that of Samsung’s option. It also comes with a 67W SuperVOOC charger in the box to take advantage of those fast speeds right away. 

The Oppo Reno 10 5G is cheaper

Despite its strengths in the camera, display and charging departments, the Oppo Reno 10 5G comes in at a rather affordable £399, which also makes it £50 cheaper than the £449 Samsung Galaxy A54 5G in the UK. 

The Galaxy A54 5G is also available in the US at $449, though like every other Oppo phone, the Reno 10 isn’t available to buy in the US, and this will unlikely change in future.

Here are the GOP Presidential Candidates Who Will Support Trump as the Nominee, Even If the Former President Is Convicted | The Gateway Pundit

During the first GOP debate for the 2024 presidential race, a crucial question was posed to the low-polling Republican candidates: Would they continue to support former President Donald Trump as the party’s nominee even if he is convicted in a court of law?

The first GOP presidential debate for the 2024 election was held tonight from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern in Milwaukee.

Bret Baier, the evening’s moderator and Fox News anchor, asked the presidential candidates, “You all signed a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee. If former President Trump is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice? Please raise your hand if you would.”

Earlier this year, the Republican National Committee (RNC) urged all GOP primary candidates to commit to supporting the eventual nominee.

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel made it clear that this pledge is a prerequisite for participation in the GOP’s first primary debate in Milwaukee.

“If you’re going to be on the Republican National Committee debate stage asking voters to support you, you should say, ‘I’m going to support the voters and who they choose as the nominee’,” McDaniel told CNN host Dana Bash.

“Anyone getting on the Republican national committee debate stage should be able to say, ‘I will support the will of the voters and the eventual nominee of our party,’” she added.

On Wednesday night, one by one, the candidates raised their hands, symbolizing their allegiance to the party’s choice, even if that choice were to be former President Trump in the wake of a legal conviction.

Ron DeSantis was one of the last candidates to raise his hand when asked to support Trump.

Only one candidate, Asa Hutchinson, refrained from raising his hand. His decision not to publicly endorse Trump under the given scenario made a clear statement about his stance.

“I am not going to support somebody who has been convicted of a serious felony or who has been disqualified under our Constitution and that is consistent with RNC rules and I hope everyone would agree with me,” Asa Hutchinson said.

Last month, Asa Hutchinson stated it is “inappropriate” for his GOP opponents to discuss pardoning former President Donald Trump if he is convicted in federal court.

“That should not be any discussion during a presidential campaign. You don’t put pardons out there to garner votes,” he said. “…Anybody who promises pardons during a presidential campaign is not serving our system of justice well, and it’s inappropriate,” Hutchinson said during an interview with CBS.

Meanwhile, Trump’s interview with Tucker Carlson has garnered 81 Million views and counting.

iPhone 15 USB-C cable may be longer but no faster

The iPhone 15 charger cable looks set to switch to USB-C, and it could even be longer and more colourful, but it probably won’t be any faster than Lightning.

That’s the fresh claim being made by Apple researcher Majin Bu. They have issued a tweet outlining the key specs of the iPhone 15’s new bundled-in charger cable.

According to this tweet, the new iPhone 15 cable will indeed be USB-C, which means Apple’s proprietary Lightning standard is indeed for chop, as rumoured. It’ll also be 1.6 metres long, which is significantly longer than the current 1 metre cable.

The tipster claims that the new cable will be “thicker and more resistant”, which would seem to tally with recent claims that the iPhone 15 will come with a sturdier colour-coded charger cable.

There’ll be no MFi requirements, apparently. This is a reference to Apple’s ‘Made For iPhone’ licensing programme, which is a licensing programme for third party accessory makers. With no stringent MFi requirements in place (such as custom chips), you should be able to use cheaper, non-custom USB-C cables to charge your iPhone 15.

All of which is good news, until you run into the claim that this iPhone 15 charger cable will support the USB-C 2.0 standard. This would mean that data transfer speeds would max out at 480 Mbps, which is exactly the same as Apple’s Lightning.

Part of the appeal of Apple switching to USB-C, admittedly well after the whole universal support angle, is that the standard supports much more rapid transfer speeds. It seems Apple is intent on artificially limiting that for its new mainstream phone.

It’s possible that Apple will retain true USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 support as a feature of the iPhone 15 Pro. Physically hooking your phone up to a computer is a pretty pro pastime these days, after all.

Another possibility, as outlined by 9to5Mac, is that the iPhone 15 will indeed support Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds, but that you’ll need to buy the pricy cable separately.

With the rumoured September 12/13 launch date fast approaching, we shouldn’t have too long to find out which of these (or something completely different) is the case.

Trump told Tucker Carlson that he is the president of everyone, even though he is not the president of anything in the United States.

Carlson asked Trump if he was worried that ‘they’ are going to try to kill him.

Trump answered, “They’re Savage animals they are people that are sick really sick you have great people in the Democrat(ic) Party. You have great people that are Democrats most of the people in our country are fantastic and I’m representing everybody. I’m not just Republicans but I represent everybody I’m the president of everybody, but I’ve seen what they do I’ve seen the lengths that they go to when they make up the Russia Russia Russia when that’s exposed and they go down and Barr should have gone after them and other people should have gone after and they did very late because the Durham report came out it was fairly good it could have been a lot tougher I guess but it was fairly good but it explained how corrupt it was.”

Trump’s Comments Are Alarming On Multiple Levels

Trump begins by using the standard authoritarian tactic of dehumanizing his opponents. Trump calls those who oppose him savages. He then moves on to another autocratic tactic of claiming that he represents everyone, but the most troubling part of his remarks was that he still referred to himself as the current president.

Trump is not the president. Joe Biden won the presidential election.

Donald Trump is not the president for anyone or anything. Trump isn’t representing anyone, and for him to think that he is, borders on the height of delusion.

As the rest of the Republican candidates held a debate that showcased their weaknesses, Trump was off in a fantasy world where is still representing people.

It says a lot about the weakness of the Republican Party that Trump can maintain a stranglehold on power in what appears to be such a deteriorated state of mind.

Bret Baier Has to Interrupt Debate to Tell Audience to Stop Booing Chris Christie (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

A heated moment emerged during the first GOP presidential debate for the 2024 election held in Milwaukee tonight. The debate, which was scheduled from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern, showcased an array of Republican candidates vying for the party’s nomination.

Moderated by Fox News anchor Bret Baier, the debate’s temperature spiked when the subject of former President Donald Trump was broached. The question posed was both controversial and critical: “If former President Trump is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice? Please raise your hand if you would?”

In response, four candidates on the Fox debate stage raised their hands to affirm their continued support for Trump, even under such circumstances. DeSantis and Pence hesitated before also raising their hands, clearly conflicted.

Only one candidate, Asa Hutchinson, refrained from raising his hand. His decision not to publicly endorse Trump under the given scenario made a clear statement about his stance.

“I am not going to support somebody who has been convicted of a serious felony or who has been disqualified under our Constitution and that is consistent with RNC rules and I hope everyone would agree with me,” Asa Hutchinson said.

The moment provided an opening for Vivek, who seized the opportunity to praise Trump and blast fellow candidate Chris Christie.

“President Trump, I believe, was the best president of the 21st century. It’s a fact,” Vivek stated, inciting applause from part of the crowd.

“Christie, your claim that Donald Trump is motivated by vengeance and grievance would be a lot more credible if your entire campaign were not based on vengeance and grievance against one man,” he continued.

As Chris Christie tried to defend himself, a wave of booing was directed at him to a point where Baier had to step in and halt the debate.

“Well, so listen, the more time we spend doing this, the less time they can talk about issues you want to talk about. So let’s just get through this section,” he urged, as he gestured for the audience to calm down.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Fox News Banned Her From The GOP Debate Spin Room

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told reporters that Fox News banned her from the GOP debate spin room even after the debate was over.

Greene said:

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Trump surrogate tonight, said she was not allowed in the spin room after the debate. “They just blocked us out,” she said. “They would not allow myself…to go into the spin room.” Greene added it was “censorship from Fox News.”

Fox News banned Trump’s surrogates from being in the spin room during the debate, but they apparently thought that they could talk to the media after the debate, according to Greene, they were wrong.

If Fox News banned Trump’s surrogates completely from the spin room, they have a right to do it. It is their debate, and if Trump wanted to have surrogates in the room, all he had to do was show up for a couple of hours and participate in the debate.

The Trump surrogates have been wining and dining reporters at the debate, but the whole point of the former president sending a whole slew of big-name surrogates was to hijack the debate coverage and attention away from those on the stage.

Fox News wasn’t going to play along, and the result is people like Marjorie Taylor Greene getting shut out of where the TV cameras are. Trumpers don’t have a right to the spin room. Trump picked this fight with Fox News by not showing up at the debate, and the network is showing that they are willing to hit him where it hurts.

Rachel Maddow pointed out that instead of debating, Trump was getting ready to surrender on RICO charges and airing a week-old pre-taped Tucker Carlson interview on Twitter.

Maddow said, “Former president Trump is the leading candidate in the race by far if the polls are to be believed. He declined to take part in tonight’s debate. His plans for the weekend instead include presenting himself or booking an arrest on felony Rico charges tomorrow in Georgia. His plans for tonight included appearing in an interview that was apparently recorded a whole week ago with a former fired Fox News host on what we used to call Twitter.”

Trump is acting like he has this primary locked up already, which might not be the case if you look deeper at the polling in Iowa and New Hampshire. Republicans are voting for Trump but don’t seem overly excited or happy about it.

Donald Trump tried to pass off a stale week-old interview with Tucker Carlson on the platform formerly known as Twitter as debate counterprogramming.

It is almost like Trump isn’t even trying anymore.

The debate was a disaster, with the candidates who had no chance of winning performing the best. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is coasting along, trying to sell old interviews as something new and believing he doesn’t have to show up to debate.

I Tried Moon Juice’s Mini Dew Electrolyte Powder

Let’s delve right in. My thoughts on the Mini Dew electrolyte powder

As much as I love other electrolyte powders on the market, I often find that they’re overly sweet and tend to upset my stomach. My usual workaround is only using half a stick of powder at a time. The Mini Dew, in that respect, is far different from the others. It has a very palatable flavor—this one tastes like a hint of watermelon—and is only mildly salty. Think fresh watermelon with a pinch of salt with a pretty pink hue, thanks to beetroot. The serving size is also only one teaspoon per 12 ounces of water—which becomes heavily diluted and is easy to down in a few gulps. Although adults can have up to eight servings of Mini Dew per day.

As Bacon mentioned, the product is dosed for optimal cellular hydration for daily activities; however, if engaging in more strenuous activity that may disrupt electrolyte balance, adjusting dosage is more than easy to do. During my experience of testing this product for about almost two weeks, I’ve done just that. On a regular day, when I spend most of my time working at my desk, I’ll add one (maybe two) teaspoons to my reusable water bottle and sip on it throughout the day. However, I’ve been integrating more strenuous workouts into my weekly routine, including two rather intense HIIT workouts where ensuring I have sufficient electrolytes, especially as I recover, is of utmost importance.

When I know I’ll be attending a tough workout class, I double up on my dose of Mini Dew and have about two to three teaspoons, which I’ve noticed has made a significant impact on my energy levels. Immediately after drinking it, I consistently experience a small energy spike. But is it a placebo effect? In all honesty, I’m not sure. But my energy levels and focus seem to increase after consuming Mini Dew each time, which might be indicative that it’s doing its job.

However, the biggest perk of this electrolyte-boosting powder (IMO) is that it gives me zero stomach ache. I repeat zero (!), which is a huge win in my ultra-sensitive stomach book. That’s to say, Mini Dew has earned a permanent spot in my leaning-tower-of-supplements cabinet, and so far, so (very) good.

Here Are The Winners And Losers From The First GOP Debate

Eight candidates took the stage for the first Fox News GOP debate, and there were clear winners and losers coming out of the Trump-less event.

Republican Debate Winners:

 

1). Mike Pence – Let’s begin with some reality. Mike Pence isn’t going to win the Republican presidential nomination. Pence is viewed as a traitor by Trump and MAGA, but Fox News gave Pence and his actions on 1/6 an entire segment of the debate to defend his actions, and he took full advantage of it. Pence also took apart Vivek Ramaswamy over Putin and Ukraine. It will probably Pence’s best moment of the campaign, and he was one of the candidates who took the most advantage of Trump’s absence.

2). Nikki Haley – Debates are largely about creating moments and Haley got herself a soundbite that will be played on cable news for days to come as she got into a heated argument with Ramaswamy on foreign. Nikki Haley also will not be the Republican nominee, but like Pence, she was able to separate herself as one of the Republicans with experience who takes foreign policy seriously. Unfortunately for her, voters tend not to care about foreign policy.

3). Chris Christie – There is a theme in the winner section. Chris Christie is not going to be the Republican presidential nominee. If getting booed by the Republican debate audience was a sign of success, Chris Christie had a great night. Chris Christie spoke passionately about going to Ukraine, and condemned Trump and his love of Putin. Christie got booed for daring to criticize the conduct that got Trump indicted. For Christie this debate was all about New Hampshire where he has taken over second place in the polling. Chris Christie has no chance in the larger GOP primary, but he was another experienced debater who knew how to leverage the platform to create moments.

4). Donald Trump –  Sure Trump is a coward for avoiding the debate while facing four felony indictments, but judging from the rest of this field, it looks like he was right not to show up. None of the candidates on the debate stage are a serious threat to him. In fact, none of these candidates are likely to be his running mate in 2024.  The counterprogramming to the debate by hanging out online with Tucker Carlson likely flopped, but what showed up in the Fox debate stage should cause no worry for Trump.

Republican Debate Losers:

1). Vivek Ramaswamy –Ramaswamy was exposed in the debate. Judging by who got attacked by the other candidates, Vivek was clearly the candidate who the other campaigns viewed as having momentum. The problem is that Ramaswamy was picked apart by the more experienced candidates who were able to exploit his lack of knowledge and inexperience.

Ramaswamy decided to play the role of Trump’s stand-in at the debate, and he was peppered hard but the other candidates. Ramaswamy is marketing something superficial with no substance. He is following the Trump 2016 campaign playbook to the letter. The problem is that Donald Trump is also in the race, which means that there is no room for a Trump mini-me.

2). Ron DeSantis– DeSantis was forced and awkward which was not surprising. DeSantis is also a terrible debater. What stood out was how the other candidates on the stage did not go after DeSantis. Ron DeSantis wasn’t treated like a frontrunner, He wasn’t treated like someone who has a chance of winning. DeSantis was center stage, but he didn’t command the stage. Ron DeSantis looked and sounded like a confused candidate with no identity, a zombie candidate, who is leading a zombie campaign.

3). Tim Scott- Scott came in as a candidate to watch out for, but he was totally forgettable in this debate. In fact, I forgot to include him in my initial list.

4). Asa Hutchinson- He sounded like a throwback Republican from the pre-Trump GOP takeover era, which meant that he had no place on this stage in this race. Hutchinson will be gone from the campaign after Iowa if not sooner.

5). Doug Burgum – Props to Burgum for debating on what he described as a blown-out Achilles tendon, but that was the highlight of his debate.

6). Fox News – This debate likely still did decent ratings, but it was reminiscent of those kiddie table debates that Fox held during the 2016 campaign for candidates who could not make the main stage. This debate was totally forgettable.
