Spotify problems and how to fix them
Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services, with millions of songs and podcasts available across various genres. The best part is that it’s available on every platform and completely free, as long as you’re okay with ads. However, a paid Spotify Premium subscription brings plenty of useful extras like the ability to download songs, better audio quality, unlimited song skipping, and more. But like any app, Spotify has the occasional bug or glitch, and things don’t work as expected. Here’s a look at some common Spotify problems and how to fix them.
Problem #1: The Spotify app is not loading or playing musicRyan Haines / Android Authority
Any interruption while listening to your favorite playlists or podcasts is annoying, so the Spotify app not loading or playing music is a huge problem. Here’s what you can try if Spotify is not working as expected.
Potential solutions:Spotify not working could be because of problems with the app itself. Like any streaming service or website, Spotify can have the occasional planned or unplanned service outage. So the issue might not be with your device. You can see if there are widespread reports of Spotify problems by checking sites like Down Detector or Down for Everyone or Just Me. The Spotify Status Twitter account also shares updates when the service is facing any downtime.Spotify lets users download songs for offline access, but for the most part, using the app requires an active Internet connection. Check your network connectivity to ensure it isn’t causing any problems. A simple test is to open another app or website that requires data to see if it’s loading. We have helpful guides on fixing Wi-Fi problems and what to do if your phone won’t connect to Wi-Fi if you have run into network connectivity problems. Most of the time, simply shutting down and opening the app or turning your device off and on again helps fix the problem. If it doesn’t, you can try clearing the app or browser cache and cookies on Android or clearing the cache on any platform to see if the problem goes away. If nothing works, it’s best to delete and reinstall the app. Clearing the app storage or uninstalling it will completely reset the app, so you might lose data like saved playlists if it isn’t synced across devices.Don’t forget to update the app to the latest version since software updates usually bring bug fixes that should help solve some problems.Problem #2: Spotify audio problems
Rita El Khoury / Android Authority
Spotify is an audio streaming service, so poor audio quality isn’t a great problem to have. Some users report hearing a crackling sound during audio playback or low-quality sound in general while using Spotify.
Potential solutions:Music streaming doesn’t require particularly fast Internet connections. But fluctuations and unstable connections could cause problems with audio quality. Spotify sets the audio quality to Auto by default and changes it depending on the connection speed. You can set the audio quality to a particular level to circumvent the issue. On mobile, tap your profile picture at the top-left corner to go to Settings and privacy. In Audio Quality section, select High from the dropdown next to Wi-Fi streaming and Cellular streaming. Spotify Premium subscribers will also see a Very high option. However, keep in mind that shoddy data speeds might cause buffering instead.Data saver settings could cause the crackling issue and general audio quality issues. Enabling this setting automatically sets your audio quality to low and disables artist canvases. It’s useful if you’re worried about data limits, but it could cause audio quality problems. And Spotify doesn’t require too much data, so you can comfortably switch to one of the higher quality settings. On mobile, go to Settings and privacy and toggle off Save Data in the Data Saver section.Internet connectivity issues will cause problems with the Spotify desktop apps as well. But there’s another setting you can enable to fix it. On the Windows app, go to Settings and toggle on Compatibility to enable hardware acceleration. On a Mac, click Spotify in the menu bar at the top and click Hardware Acceleration to enable the setting.Problem #3: Cannot add local files to Spotify playlists
Joe Hindy / Android Authority
Spotify lets you add and listen to music saved on your desktop or smartphone to your playlists. Some users aren’t able to add local files to Spotify anymore. This isn’t a bug, though, and the option still exists. Spotify has changed the way you can add your music to the app.
Potential solutions:Instead of simply dragging and dropping files into Spotify on a desktop, you have to go through a couple of extra steps. On mobile, go to Settings and privacy, and toggle on Show audio files from this device in Local Files section. On the Windows app, go to Settings and toggle on Local files. Click Add a Source to select the folders with your stored music files. On a Mac, go to Spotify (menu bar) > Preferences > Local files and permit Spotify to access your iTunes library and folders with stored music. The steps remain the same as before to upload local audio files to Spotify on mobile. Go to Settings > Import > Show local audio files.Problem #4: Cannot download songs on Spotify
Joe Hindy / Android Authority
Spotify Premium subscribers can download songs and podcasts for offline playback, but some users can’t.
Potential solutions:This feature is only available for Premium users, so ensure that your subscription is active. Log in to your Spotify account page and check your subscription details in the Your Plan section.Spotify lets you download songs on up to five devices, but there is a limit of 10,000 songs. This may seem like a lot, but you might surpass the limit if you download multiple playlists and albums across different devices. You cannot download any more music until you remove the downloaded content. The steps to download songs and playlists on Spotify and remove them are surprisingly the same. Open the playlist and tap on the downward arrow (download button). If it’s a saved playlist, you will be asked whether you want to remove it from downloads. If you’ve downloaded your Liked songs, open the playlist and toggle off Download Songs.Doing this individually will take a while, but you can pick and choose what you want to keep. However, if you want to remove all downloaded content and start over, go to Settings (gear icon), scroll down to the Storage section, and tap Remove all downloads. You may also be unable to download songs if your device doesn’t have enough storage. Spotify recommends having at least 1GB of free storage available and more if you download a lot of songs. Check out our guide on how to free up storage if you run into this problem.Problem #5: Spotify Premium features are not working
Joe Hindy / Android Authority
Spotify has a slew of Premium subscription options, from Duo and Family plans to significantly cheaper plans for students. A subscription gives you access to offline playback, higher audio quality, an ad-free experience, and more. If you have subscribed but aren’t seeing these features, here’s what you can try to fix it.
Potential solutions:First, ensure that you have an active subscription. Go to your Spotify account page and check your subscription details in the Your Plan section. You may have logged in with the wrong account if you see Spotify Free. Remember to use the same login method as when you signed up. So if you did so using Facebook, Google, or Apple ID, log in the same way. If your login credentials are correct, go to Check your payment status to see if a payment is pending or has failed. If you see an active subscription, Spotify recommends simply logging out and signing back in.When someone invites you to a Duo or Family plan, the primary account holder has control and may have accidentally revoked your access. Check to ensure that you haven’t been removed from the plan. Spotify will also automatically remove you from the plan if you don’t verify your information, like your address, within seven days of getting the verification email. Remember that if verification fails or you don’t respond within a week, you will not be able to join another Duo or Family plan for 12 months. If you can’t find downloaded songs, there are a few reasons why Spotify might have automatically removed them. This will happen if you haven’t been online for 30 days or have downloaded music on five other devices. With the latter, Spotify will automatically delete downloads from the device that was used least recently. You might also not find songs if you’ve changed regions since regional restrictions are in place. Your downloaded songs may also disappear if you use a microSD card for storage on your phone that doesn’t work anymore.Problem #6: Cannot find Spotify playlists
Ryan Haines / Android Authority
You may have spent hours creating perfect playlists that you can share or make public. So it can be frustrating if you can’t find them anymore. In most cases, Spotify playlists go missing because of accidental deletion. Luckily, Spotify has a way of quickly restoring them.
Potential solutions:Log in to your account on the Spotify website, click on the profile icon at the top right corner, and go to Account > Recovered playlists. Spotify keeps a record of any deleted playlists for 90 days. Click Restore to get the playlist back.Problem #7: Cannot connect Spotify to a TV or smart speaker
Ryan Haines / Android Authority
Spotify Connect lets you push audio from one device to another while controlling it from any phone, tablet, watch, or computer linked to your account. It’s an integral feature that lets you listen to your Spotify playlists on any smart speakers, TVs, consoles, or media streamers that support Connect.
Potential solutions:Remember that the device you want to listen to music from has to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the control device. Your target device may have dropped off Wi-Fi because of a weak signal or an oversaturated router. Wi-Fi 5 routers, in particular, can have trouble with the dozens of connections in modern homes, in which case it may be necessary to disconnect some products or upgrade to a router with Wi-Fi 6.When the app detects compatible speakers and other devices, a Devices Available will show at the bottom left on mobile and bottom right on desktop. If the Devices Available icon isn’t there, go to Settings and select Show Available Devices. If you don’t see your target device on this list, ensure it is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that some devices, like Echo speakers, require additional steps.Problem #8: Cannot log into Spotify
AA Update Team / Android Authority
Encountering login issues with Spotify can be a frustrating experience. It’s a problem that can stem from various factors.
Potential solutions:
First, make sure that your internet connection is on and your username and password are correct. You might accidentally turn off your Wi-Fi or cellular connection or make a typo when entering your login information. Also, ensure you are opening the Spotify app. This might sound silly, but some people actually open the wrong app by mistake.Occasionally, Spotify may encounter errors. If this happens, consider using alternative login methods such as Facebook, Google, or Apple. Experiment with each of these options to see which one works for you.If you have moved to another country and are unable to log in through your phone, you should try accessing Spotify via the desktop version. You will receive an error message indicating that your country has changed and you need to update your profile. Log into the web version of Spotify to update your country information. Once the profile is updated, you will be able to log in to all your accounts instantly. If none of the above login tips are effective, it may be necessary to update the Spotify app on your device. Additionally, updating your device’s operating system can also help, as an outdated system may be affected by security issues that impact network connectivity.Spotify guides and known issues
Rita El Khoury / Android Authority
If you run into more problems, Spotify has a running list of ongoing issues. You can check whether your issue is on the list. And Spotify updates the tracker whenever it acknowledges and fixes a reported problem.

Eric Adams Wants Parents to Volunteer to Protect NYC Schools After Safety Agents Are Cut | The Gateway Pundit
New York City Mayor Eric Adams wants parents to provide security at the city’s schools after safety agents who would normally provide that service were cut.
Parents are understandably outraged. Not only are they not trained to do this, but who has the time?
This is a direct result of the massive spending the city has taken on to house illegal border crossers. Adams warned that some services might be cut and now that time is here.
The New York Post reports:
Parents rip into Eric Adams after mayor says they might have to volunteer to protect NYC schools after new safety agents cut: ‘Not my job!’
Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that parents might have to volunteer to keep Big Apple schools safe after hundreds of newly trained safety agents were cut — but the idea was quickly ripped by some parents who raged, “It’s not my job.”
“We’re going to be leaning into parents and parent groups to do some volunteerism,” Hizzoner said when asked about the new class of 250 school safety agents that were recently axed as the cost of the migrant crisis continues to cripple the city.
“We’re going to get to our crisis management team,” he continued during a weekly City Hall press conference. “We are going to be straining at a very high level to get this done correctly.”
But parents quickly scoffed at the idea, with several telling The Post they shouldn’t have to take on the responsibility of protecting their kids at school.
“It’s not my job or any parent’s job to have to patrol the school, that’s not why I’m sending my child to a school,” Sarah Lewis, 42, said as she waited for her sixth grade daughter at the Great Oaks Charter School in West Village.
The city is putting illegals ahead of citizens.
The Mayor has money to have the NYPD at countless migrant shelters, yet conveniently claims a lack of resources when it comes to safeguarding kids at schools. Are you kidding me? https://t.co/8Pi13BwIcU

Galaxy S23 Ultra is back down to an outrageously cheap price
Want to buy one of the best phones on the market for an outrageously cheap price? Have a wee gander at this Galaxy S23 Ultra deal.
It gets you the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (obviously) on a 24 month iD Mobile contract with a massive 250GB of monthly data allowance. That’s a lot of phone and data for just £39.99 a month and £29 up front.

Mobiles.co.uk250GB data£39.99 a month, £29 up frontYou’re looking at an overall price of £988.76 for everything, which is way (WAY) less than the £1,249 RRP that Samsung is still selling its phone at.
We can hear the cynics among you grumbling. ‘Ah,’ they say, ‘but the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a pretty old phone. It’s been on the market for nine months now’.
That’s a fair point. Or it would be, if it weren’t for the fact that nothing we’ve seen since has bettered it, whether through performance (in Android terms at least), feature set, or all-round excellence.
We’ve seen an awful lot of great phones this year, but the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has held fast on our ‘Best smartphones 2023’ list. It’s still our pick for The best flagship Android phone you can buy.
What’s behind this imperious year-spanning reign? “The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a smartphone that does it all,” we concluded in our 4.5-star review. “It has one of the best displays, a top-notch stylus experience, blisteringly fast performance and a camera setup that beats just about anything in the flagship arena right now”.
True, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Google Pixel 8 Pro have since come along to challenge that latter point, but neither offers as good a telephoto provision as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It’s the most complete smartphone camera system in the business.
You also get a cool S Pen stylus that lives in the body of the phone itself, and what other flagship phone can claim that?

Apple tipped to give Siri a big AI upgrade at WWDC 2024
Apple has been tipped to give its often-bashed Siri personal assistant a huge AI upgrade at WWDC 2024.
According to tipster @Tech_Reve, Apple has been using a large language model (LLM) to “completely revamp Siri into the ultimate virtual assistant”.
They go on to predict that the development of this new smarter Siri is well underway, and will be announced at Apple’s major annual software-focused event, which takes place in early June. This will mean that it’ll be ready to launch as a major feature of the iPhone 16 range some time in September.
Good news:
Apple is currently using LLM to completely revamp Siri into the ultimate virtual assistant and is preparing to develop it into Apple’s most powerful killer AI app.

— Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) November 9, 2023
This isn’t the first time we’re heard rumours of an AI-based Siri overhaul. Back in September, The Information claimed that Apple was investing millions of dollars a day to make Siri much smarter through AI, adding the ability to automate multi-step tasks with a single voice command.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman backed this up with claims that Apple was bringing generative AI to its devices after well and truly missing the boat.
Apple’s personal assistant may have blazed a trail, but it’s been somewhat left in the dust by rival assistants from Google and Amazon, while Microsoft’s use of ChatGPT has proved massively disruptive in recent times. It makes sense for Apple to finally give its intuitive-yet-limited Siri a similarly forward-thinking makeover.

UPDATE: Co-Creator of ‘The Simpsons’ Says Homer WILL Continue to Strangle Bart: ‘Nothing’s Getting Tamed’ | The Gateway Pundit
Last week it was widely reported that Homer would no longer strangle Bart on ‘The Simpsons’ because “times have changed.”
Now a co-creator of the show has gone on record saying that this is not true and that the stranglings will continue.
He actually said “nothing” is changing.
People reports:
Homer Will Continue to Strangle Bart on The Simpsons, Says Co-Creator: ‘Nothing’s Changing’ (Exclusive)
The Simpsons’ patriarch will continue to get aggressive with his son, co-creator and producer James L. Brooks tells PEOPLE.
Homer Simpson, who has often strangled son Bart for laughs on Fox’s long-running animated series, seemed to suggest he would change his ways on the episode “McMansion & Wife,” which aired on Oct. 22.
Homer (Dan Castellaneta) met his new neighbor Thayer (Hank Azaria), who noted Homer had “quite a grip” when they shook hands.
“See, Marge, strangling the boy has paid off,” Homer quipped to his wife Marge (Julie Kavner). “Just kidding. I don’t do that anymore.” Smiling, he added, “Times have changed.”
Perhaps not. Asked about that episode, Brooks tells PEOPLE, “Don’t think for a second we’re changing anything.”
“Nothing’s getting tamed. Nothing, nothing, nothing,” Brooks continues. “He’ll continue to be strangled—[if] you want to use that awful term for it. He’ll continue to be loved by his father in a specific way.”
Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that the show has lost a bit of its edge. It’s like Saturday Night Live, a show that’s no longer funny but still makes money.
This was the right decision, however.
‘THE SIMPSONS’ co-creator confirms Homer will still strangle Bart.

MUST WATCH: Vivek Ramaswamy Smoked Chris Cuomo on His Own Show | The Gateway Pundit
Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo found himself in a fierce debate with GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on Monday. Tensions flared as Ramaswamy did not mince words, accusing the mainstream media, and Cuomo in particular, of being biased and divisive.
Ramaswamy has been a vocal critic of the media’s role in political discourse, asserting that establishment outlets have been peddling falsehoods to the American populace.
During the third Republican presidential debate, Ramaswamy slammed the fake news media and questioned the decision to have far-left NBC, Kristen Welker and Lester Holt host a Republican debate.
The political temperature soared on Monday’s broadcast of News Nation when GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy unleashed a barrage of critiques toward show host Chris Cuomo. The debate turned personal and politically charged as Ramaswamy took aim at Cuomo and what he termed the “Establishment media.”
Chris Cuomo: Why do you keep going at Nikki Haley? Why do you think this is going to bear fruit?
Vivek Ramaswamy: Chris, I don’t know what you’ve been smoking, man. You and the rest of the mainstream media is laughable. Nikki Haley has been going after me the whole campaign: first debate, second debate. You know, she’s been trailing me for much of the time. But I realize the establishment media has realized that there’s a puppet they want to put up. I’m not playing that game. The grassroots of this country want a leader who isn’t going to send us, our sons and daughters, to go die in foreign wars that racked up 7 trillion in debt. Dick Cheney 2.0 has taken over the GOP. The problem is the Democratic establishment media is now rooting for war too. I’m the only candidate speaking for a true America First agenda on that debate stage, and I think we’re going to be successful.
Chris Cuomo: Vivek, how are you going to bring people together when you just put together a tapestry of conspiracies? You know that I’m not pitching anything about Nikki Haley. She won’t even come to my show.
Vivek Ramaswamy: There’s no tapestry of conspiracies.
Chris Cuomo: She won’t even come on my show. What are you talking about?
Vivek Ramaswamy: I’m sure she doesn’t.
Chris Cuomo: Hold on a second. I let you put it out there. And now you know, I get to finish smoking, and now I get to answer, which is, oh, ‘This is what the media is doing, is putting up Nikki Haley against me because they know I’m the real deal.’ Please. She hasn’t even been on my show. I’m just watching you get slapped around by her. And I’m wondering what your strategy.
Vivek Ramaswamy: My strategy is calling out the mainstream media like I did to Kristen Welker. At the start of that debate, I asked her about the Trump-Russia collusion hoax . I told her to look the audience in the eye and apologize to them. Just like I’ll tell you, you’re a part of the mainstream media despite pretending like you’re not. Look the audience in the eye, and tell them you covered for your brother.
Chris Cuomo: I’m part of the mainstream media.
Vivek Ramaswamy: Of course you are. And you play the same games that the rest of the mainstream media does. You are doing it tonight.
Chris Cuomo: Hey listen, you don’t want to take care of your family, that’s fine. Vivek, I am not playing a game.
Vivek Ramaswamy: You’ve been you have been covering for your brother. You’ve been playing a game. You have been kicked out from CNN.
Chris Cuomo: Of course, I helped my brother. Yeah, of course I do.
Vivek Ramaswamy: You know what that’s been? Journalistic standards that have now been failed not just by you, but by every member of the broken political media.
Chris Cuomo: So everyone is In the media most responsible for covering for my brother? See what I’m saying? You missed the target by going too broad.
Vivek Ramaswamy: 90% of the media is colluding with respect to pushing one answer on the American public for the origin of Covid 19 to the Hunter Biden laptop story, to now which people they decide they want to put up as their puppets to take on Donald Trump.
Ramaswamy took to social media after the show, blasting Cuomo.
“I get that Chris Cuomo is trying to rebrand himself as some neutral journalist, but I’ll call a spade a spade: Chris & the rest of the Establishment media have been force-feeding lies to the American people for years with the intent to divide us and now they’ve picked their favorite Republican stooge. The people won’t be fooled.”

CLUELESS: Teacher Union Head Randi Weingarten Wonders Why More Americans Are Turning to Homeschooling | The Gateway Pundit
America has seen a large increase in homeschooling over the last few years and there are multiple reasons for that.
School closures during the pandemic were an obvious one, but also woke policies in public schools, diversity, equity and inclusion policies, the LGBT agenda, woke teachers pushing nonsense, and on and on.
Randi Weingarten, the head of the largest teacher union in the country, doesn’t seem to understand any of this.
She recently tweeted this:

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten got more than she asked for after she posted an article about the rise in homeschooling in America on social media Sunday.
“What’s behind the increase in homeschooling,” Weingarten posted on X along with an article with the same title from Axios, which included experts attributing the rise to kids needing specialized services and the pandemic…
A right-leaning organization responded in kind, mocking Weingarten as an advocate for homeschooling.
“Homeschooling is now the fastest-growing form of education in the U.S. Randi still doesn’t realize she is one of the greatest homeschool advocates in American history,” Young Americans for Liberty posted.

WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Biden Admin Considers Giving Iran Access to Another $10 Billion | The Gateway Pundit
Most political pundits, including some on the left, agree that giving Iran access to huge amounts of cash in recent months, was directly linked to the Hamas attacks on Israel.
Now the Biden administration is reportedly considering doubling down on this wrongheaded idea by giving Iran access to billions more.
Aside from the security risks, both national and international, why would we help a country that is bent on our destruction. It makes absolutely no sense.
Townhall reports:
Biden Admin Considering Giving Iran Access to Another $10 Billion
The Biden administration — through the State Department specifically — is reportedly considering issuing a waiver to Iran that would allow access to another $10 billion worth of previously frozen cash, this time held in Iraq.
This alarming development comes after the Biden administration — in the days before Iran-backed Hamas terrorists launched their October 7 slaughter of Israelis — unfroze billions of dollars for Iran as part of a questionable prisoner swap arrangement. Since that deal was made, Iranian proxies have continued to launch attacks at Israel as well as U.S. troops in the Middle East, wounding dozens of American service members.
More from the Washington Free Beacon:
The Biden administration may approve a sanctions waiver on Tuesday that will allow Iran to access at least $10 billion in previously frozen funds held in Iraq, a closely watched decision that comes just a month after the Tehran-backed terror group Hamas launched an attack on Israel that left 1,200 dead.
The waiver would extend the multibillion-dollar sanctions relief first issued in July that expires tomorrow. It allows Iraq to transfer frozen electricity payments into Iranian-owned bank accounts in Europe and Oman. The waiver renewal is driving concerns that the Biden administration is maintaining financial avenues for Tehran as the country’s terrorist proxies foment chaos across the Middle East.
This is insanity.
Biden continues to rearm Iran and is even considering INCREASING the billions to that genocidal regime!https://t.co/ndVlmRWXgS

DISGUSTING: Massachusetts Town Votes to Allow the Palestinian Flag to be Flown Over Their Town Common | The Gateway Pundit
The town of North Andover in Massachusetts has voted to allow the flag of Palestine to be flown over their town common.
According to WBUR, North Andover voted for Biden by 61 percent, in case you were wondering.
This is an overt political act of virtue signaling, and not everyone in the town was on board with the idea.
FOX 25 News in Boston reports:
After ‘heated’ meeting, North Andover approves permit to fly Palestinian flag on town common
A request for a permit to raise a Palestinian flag on the North Andover Town Common was approved Monday night.
The flag will now be put up until December 7.
At a select board meeting, which had previously been rescheduled due to “threats of litigation as well as public safety concerns,” residents spoke passionately in both defense and opposition to the flag.
“A lot of tension, a lot of opposition,” Salma Boulal, who attended the meeting, said. “If Israel gets their flag to fly in the North Andover common then Palestinians deserve that same right.”
“It was pretty heated…there are those that look at the Palestinian flag as a symbol of hate,” Brian Buzby said.
There was a large police presence at the meeting as a precaution.
North Andover Town Manager Melissa Rodrigues said the application for flying the Palestinian flag was submitted on October 16, just 6 hours prior to the town updating its flag policies.
“The prior flag policy specifically allowed a Town resident to submit an application to fly a flag on the Town’s flagpole, resulting in that flagpole being considered a public forum,” she explained. “The content or the subject matter of a flag cannot be considered when reviewing an application presented under the old policy.”
The Palestinian flag is a symbol of Hamas. Hamas murdered innocent children, women, elderly people and men on October 7th. That’s who North Andover is rewarding with this decision.
They should be ashamed.

There’s no bar association to yank his law license. There’s no radio or TV network to say we’re not hosting your show anymore. What is the institution here that decides this is on their patch? What is the institution here that decides that you can never espouse things like this and also be part of them and also represent them?
There is only one. It’s his political party. Which when he is running to be the Republican nominee for president of the United States, means he’s contending to lead that party. While promising he will build camps it hold millions of people in this country and use the military against American civilians at home in America and his political opponents are vermin who will be crushed and exterminated. That is the test here. That — he’s not running as an independent. He’s not running as the trump for president candidate.
He’s running as the Republican, he wants to be the Republican nominee for president. So that is the only institution, the institution that is be tested here. This is him testing the political party that he says he’s going to lead. Testing them now. One year out from the election, to see what they will tolerate as an institution. Which means every single member of that party will now have to answer whether this is who they are, whether this is hot they stand for, whether this is the cause of their party.
We know from history that a country under threat does not stand up for itself with some kind of civic objection that just redounds to the country at large. In real life, a country under threat stands up for itself when the institutions that make up the civic and political life of the country stand up and say what they’re for and what they can no longer stand for.

Rachel Maddow was correct. At this point, Trump is intentionally invoking Hitler and Mussolini because he is testing the Republican Party to see if it will go all in with him on his fascism. Trump is trying to find out if he can transform one of the two major political parties in the United States into a fascist movement.
In the fall of 2024, Democrats could stop Trump and his fascists from taking over the country, but there is a very specific reason for why Trump is using this rhetoric now.
Donald Trump has taken over the Republican Party. The next step is to turn the former party of Lincoln and Reagan into an anti-democracy authoritarian movement,
