LG’s 60-inch TV is now mega cheap in Argos’ Black Friday sale
Thinking about getting a big screen TV at an affordable price? The run-up to Black Friday has seen a lot of deals drop, and you can save plenty on this 60-inch LG TV at Argos.
The LG 60UQ81006LB 4K TV (UQ81 for short) is sixty inches of TV screen real estate, and it can be yours from Argos for just £399. According to Argos, that’s the lowest price they’ve ever sold this TV for as part of their early Black Friday deals.
LG’s 60-inch TV is now mega cheap in Argos’ Black Friday sale
Looking to save some money on a big screen TV? Argos is running a promotion on the LG UQ81, a 60-inch TV that’s available for just £399.
And what do you get aside from the 60-inch screen? Well, the UQ81 supports the HDR10 standard to help boost contrast and colours, with a standard 20W audio system, and a selection of physical connections with two USB inputs and three HDMI inputs to connect sources, hard-drives, or soundbars. For wireless connections, there’s built-in Wi-Fi on this model, along with Bluetooth streaming.
In terms of content, the LG UQ81 proves plenty of options. There’s the Freeview Play portal which opens up access to the likes of iPlayer, ITVX, and Channel 4, then there a premium, paid for subscriptions in the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ through the webOS user interface. Voice control also features on this model, with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built-in.
We didn’t test this TV so we can’t offer our opinion on the performance, but based on the specification, the LG UQ81 is a standard 4K TV for those who just want to watch films and TV, rather than those who want the added frills that come with more expensive models such as Dolby Vision or a higher-end gaming performance. The price is good vale for 60-inch screen sizes as that’s usually been the price for affordable 55-inch TVs.
It is a 2022 model, so won’t have all the features that have come with the 2023 models, but if all you’re looking for is a TV to enjoy sports, films, and TV on, this is a deal well worth looking at in more detail.

Republican Lawmakers in Florida Are Targeting Scholarships and Grants for College Students Supporting Hamas | The Gateway Pundit
In recent weeks, people across the country have been shocked and disgusted to see anti-Semitism and open support for Hamas on college campuses.
The protests and demonstrations began almost immediately following the attacks on Israel on October 7th.
Republican lawmakers in Florida are taking action by targeting funding for these students. This is the way to do it. If you want this garbage to stop, shutting off the money is a great place to start.
Politico reports:
Florida Republicans target scholarships, grants for students supporting Hamas
Florida college students who “promote” Hamas and other designated terrorist organizations could have their scholarships, grants and other benefits yanked from them under a new bill proposed Wednesday by Republican lawmakers.
The idea is the latest attempt by Florida policymakers to punish college students who are expressing support for Palestinians as the Israel-Hamas war rages on with tensions enflamed on campuses across the country. Already, Florida has attempted to disband Students for Justice in Palestine groups at two state universities while Gov. Ron DeSantis on the GOP presidential campaign trail pledges to cancel student visas for anyone sharing “common cause with Hamas.”
“Florida taxpayers should not be in the business of subsidizing the education of terrorist sympathizers who wish to do us, and others, harm,” state Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill), who sponsored the Senate bill, said in a statement.
Identical legislation filed in Florida’s House and Senate would make students ineligible for several key financial benefits at state colleges and universities if they promote a “foreign terrorist organization.” In the proposed law, this would specifically include “Hamas and Palestine Islamic Jihad” as well as other organizations designated by the U.S. State Department to possess “capability and intent to engage in terrorist activity.” The word “promote” is not defined in the proposals.
Many students in the United States just take funding for higher education for granted. It’s not a right. Taking away their funding might be just the wake up call these students need.

Unauthorized “David Attenborough” AI clone narrates developer’s life, goes viral
Enlarge / Screen capture from a demo video of an AI-generated unauthorized David Attenborough voice narrating a developer’s video feed.
Charlie Holtz
On Wednesday, Replicate developer Charlie Holtz combined GPT-4 Vision (commonly called GPT-4V) and ElevenLabs voice cloning technology to create an unauthorized AI version of the famous naturalist David Attenborough narrating Holtz’s every move on camera. As of Thursday afternoon, the X post describing the stunt had garnered over 21,000 likes.
“Here we have a remarkable specimen of Homo sapiens distinguished by his silver circular spectacles and a mane of tousled curly locks,” the false Attenborough says in the demo as Holtz looks on with a grin. “He’s wearing what appears to be a blue fabric covering, which can only be assumed to be part of his mating display.”
“Look closely at the subtle arch of his eyebrow,” it continues, as if narrating a BBC wildlife documentary. “It’s as if he’s in the midst of an intricate ritual of curiosity or skepticism. The backdrop suggests a sheltered habitat, possibly a communal feeding area or watering hole.”
How does it work? Every five seconds, a Python script called “narrator” takes a photo from Holtz’s webcam and feeds it to GPT-4V—the version of OpenAI’s language model that can process image inputs—via an API, which has a special prompt to make it create text in the style of Attenborough’s narrations. Then it feeds that text into an ElevenLabs AI voice profile trained on audio samples of Attenborough’s speech. Holtz provided the code (called “narrator”) that pulls it all together on GitHub, and it requires API tokens for OpenAI and ElevenLabs that cost money to run.
AdvertisementWhile some of these capabilities have been available separately for some time, developers have recently begun to experiment with combining these capabilities together thanks to API availability, which can create surprising demonstrations like this one.
During the demo video, when Holtz holds up a cup and takes a drink, the fake Attenborough narrator says, “Ah, in its natural environment, we observe the sophisticated Homo sapiens engaging in the critical ritual of hydration. This male individual has selected a small cylindrical container, likely filled with life-sustaining H2O, and is tilting it expertly towards his intake orifice. Such grace, such poise.”
In a different demo posted on X by Pietro Schirano, you can hear the cloned voice of Steve Jobs critiquing designs created in Figma, a design app. Schirano used a similar technique, with an image being streamed to GPT-4V via API (which was prompted to reply in the style of Jobs), then fed into an ElevenLabs clone of Jobs’ voice.
We’ve previously covered voice cloning technology, which is fraught with ethical and legal concerns where the software creates convincing deepfakes of a person’s voice, making them “say” things the real person never said. This has legal implications regarding a celebrity’s publicity rights, and it has already been used to scam people by faking the voices of loved ones seeking money. ElevenLabs’ terms of service prohibit people from making clones of other people’s voices in a way that would violate “Intellectual Property Rights, publicity rights and Copyright,” but it’s a rule that can be difficult to enforce.
For now, while some people expressed deep discomfort from someone imitating Attenborough’s voice without permission, many others seem bemused by the demo. “Okay, I’m going to get David Attenborough to narrate videos of my baby learning how to eat broccoli,” quipped Jeremy Nguyen in an X reply.

Get the Galaxy A34 with 100GB of data for £18 a month
Fonehouse is offering the Galaxy A34 on a 24 month contract with 100GB of data for £18 a month with no up front fee.
Fonehouse100GB of data£18 a monthThe Galaxy A34 is a close relation to Samsung’s mid-range champ, the Galaxy A54. It offers a similar classy design, a great 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, and a decent camera system for quite a bit less money.
Samsung is one of the most reliable manufacturers when it comes to creating good camera systems these days, with its punchy colour science and clear image processing.
Going back to that design for a moment, the Galaxy A34 is notable for giving you IP67 certification. That’s extremely rare in a phone of this price. It’s also relatively light for such a large phone, weighing in at 199g, and it comes in a truly eye-catching range of colours.
You also get a chunky 5,000mAh battery, so you shouldn’t want for stamina.
All in all, the Samsung Galaxy A34 is just about as solid a phone as you’re likely to get for this cheap a price.

What is Google’s Chromebook Plus initiative?
Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority
Recently, Google announced a new category of Chromebooks — the Chromebook Plus. These new, more powerful Chromebooks promise superior power and reliability for users, with support for more applications and use cases. In this brief guide, we will break down what exactly defines a Chromebook Plus, general specs and features, pricing, and more.
What is a Chromebook Plus?Google itself has gone on to define the Chromebook Plus as a “new category” of Chromebooks. In short, it is a more powerful version of the Chromebook laptop, with around double the performance, according to Google.
Chromebook Plus refers to all devices that run Chrome OS that meet a set of minimum hardware requirements, with various options available to consumers from various manufacturers. The “Chromebook Plus” branding will be given to laptops that meet Google’s minimum hardware requirements. The idea behind this is even less tech-savvy consumers who see the “Chromebook Plus” label can be guaranteed that it is a good product.
Chromebook Plus specsChromebook Plus devices must have the following minimum specs:
An Intel Core (i3 or higher) or AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU or higher8GB of RAM or higherAt least 128GB of storageAn IPS panel with at least 1080p resolutionA 1080p webcam or higherOne noteworthy absence from Google’s list of minimum specs is battery life. When asked regarding the status of Chromebook Plus battery life requirements, Google did add that all Google Chromebooks — including Chromebook Plus models — are required to meet a 10-hour battery life minimum.
Chromebook Plus features
Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority
Chromebook Plus devices also come with a host of brand-new features. These include a Magic Eraser tool with Google Photos (which automatically removes unwanted elements from photos), improvements to noise cancelation in video conferencing, an Offline File Sync (downloads files from Drive onto your device automatically), and even a built-in personal AI writing assistant.
With this said, much of the on-device AI features are still in development. The device is planned to add Android 14’s generative wallpaper feature in a future update, as one example.
How much does the Chromebook Plus cost? The starting price of Chromebook Plus laptops is currently $399. Prices will vary from model to model, however. So far, prices of these devices all range between $399-$749. This makes them more expensive than standard Chromebooks, but still much cheaper than high-end Windows laptops or Macbooks. With this said, prices of these devices are subject to change, and this price range only refers to Chromebook Plus devices that are currently on the market at the time of writing. We expect that we’ll see more expensive Chromebook Plus laptops hit the shelves in the near future.
Chromebook vs Chromebook Plus: Which one should you buy?
Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority
Consumers who are deciding between a standard Chromebook and a Chromebook Plus need to assess the pros and cons associated with both options.
PriceObviously, Chromebook Plus laptops are much more expensive than standard Chromebooks. While offering great value-per-dollar, most Chromebook Plus laptops are around double the price of an average Chromebook. Those who are on a budget and only looking for simple work laptops without the need for GPU or CPU-demanding tools may want to stick with a standard Chromebook.
Power & performanceIf you’re looking for a reasonably priced device that also delivers decent power and performance, then there is no comparison: Chromebook Plus laptops are easily the superior option, despite costing more. Standard Chromebooks simply lack decent hardware power, with very low-end specs that hardly provide any real level of performance beyond the bare minimum.
Anything beyond word processing, surfing the web, video chatting, and other standard work-related tasks are out of the question. Video editing, gaming, photo editing, live streaming content, and other highly demanding programs aren’t well-suited for Google Chromebooks and are better fit for Chromebook Plus devices instead.
Use caseYour primary use case should be a large factor when deciding between a Chromebook and Chromebook Plus. If you want to use programs that utilize a significant amount of CPU power, such as video processing tools, live streaming software, and video games, then we recommend buying a Chromebook Plus laptop. If you are a student or work primarily with less demanding tools such as word processing programs, then a standard Chromebook will probably be more than enough.
Overall, the Chromebook Plus is a massive upgrade over standard Chromebooks and is a great mid-range device for those looking for a good laptop on a budget.

Stunning deal brings the flagship Xperia 1 V down to its cheapest price yet
Black Friday isn’t even here yet, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of retailers getting in on the deal fun. That includes retail giant Amazon, with a range of offers on just about everything tech-related. That means it’s a great time to secure yourself a shiny new smartphone on the cheap.
Case and point: Amazon is offering a whopping £300 off Sony’s top-end flagship, the Sony Xperia 1 V, bringing it down to just £999 from its £1,299 RRP. That’ll net you the black finish with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but stock is limited, so you’ll have to act fast.
Get £300 off the top-end flagship Sony Xperia 1 V
Snag a fantastic deal on Amazon for the top-end flagship Sony Xperia 1 V. It’s currently reduced by £300, a whopping 23% discount that brings it down to just £999 – the cheapest it has been since launch.
Considering the downgraded Sony Xperia 5 V starts at £849, the discount on the top-end Xperia 1 V represents a significant upgrade on the cheap for dedicated Sony fans. That’s especially true when you consider the upgrades in camera tech and display tech compared to the 5 V, making it well worth its £999 price tag.
As you can see from the above graph tracking the price of the Xperia 1 V, it’s the cheapest it has been in the past month – but it goes further than that. Looking at Amazon price tracker Keepa, it’s actually the cheapest the Xperia 1 V has been since its launch in May 2023.
Is the Sony Xperia 1 V worth buying? The swiss army knife of smartphones

Though it may not look that different from the slew of Xperia devices before it, the Xperia 1 V boasts impressive high-end tech.
As a manufacturer of TVs, it shouldn’t be much surprise that the 4K display of the Xperia 1 V is exceptional. It’s bright, vivid and with OLED tech, blacks are suitably inky, and with support for multiple HDR formats, movies on the likes of Netflix look especially impressive. The 4K resolution means text and images are pin-sharp, though this can be toned down to a more manageable FHD+ to boost battery life.
It’s all about the camera tech with the Xperia 1 V, however. It sports a trio of sensors including a new Exmor-T 52MP primary sensor with a unique dual-pixel stacked design that allows it to capture a lot more light and detail than its predecessors with a marked improvement in low light, though it’s still not quite as capable as the likes of the S23.
Sony differs from the camera-focused competition with its apps, boasting dedicated Pro-level apps for photography, videography, and even audio recording that match Sony’s Alpha DSLR layout for those familiar with it.
Throw in exceptional performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that, unlike its predecessor, stays cool under load, and a relatively stock approach to Android and you’ve got a solid 2023 flagship made even more tempting with this deal.
If you want to find out more, make sure you take a look at our comprehensive Sony Xperia 1 V review.
Looking for a different deal?If the Sony Xperia 1 V isn’t your style, there are also tempting contract offers on the Pixel 8 Pro, and if you fancy a foldable, there are discounts not only on the top-end Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 but also the Motorola Razr (2022). GOP-Controlled House REJECTS Amendment to Slash Radical Transgender Biden HHS Official Rachel Levine’s Salary to $1 – 46 Republicans Joined Democrats to Reject the Amendment | The Gateway Pundit
The United States House of Representatives on Wednesday decided that the Biden regime official, arguably the most responsible for pushing the radical trans lobby’s agenda, is still worthy of your taxpayer dollars.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Rachel Levine, a biological male formally known as Richard Levine, from day one has been pushing the normalization of transgenderism in our nation.
Moreover, Levine believes doctors must take a leading role in promoting radical transgender ideas. These include allowing kids to have access to puberty blockers and undergoing gender assignment surgery.
Levine has called them “lifesaving, medically necessary, age-appropriate, and a critical tool.”
Levine has even demanded big tech companies censor the truth regarding the impact of “gender-affirming” care on our nation’s children.
Unsurprisingly, Levine’s efforts have the “highest support” within the Biden White House.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), though, offered a way to hold this truly sinister and dangerous individual accountable. She sponsored an amendment H.R.5894 on Tuesday, which would in her words, “castrate” Levine’s government salary to a mere $1 as he continues pushing his sick ideas.
Note how she refers to Levine by his birth name throughout the video below.
WATCH:
I just introduced an amendment to castrate the salary of the Assistant Secretary of Health Richard Levine, the same way he supports castrating children who suffer from gender dysphoria.

Currys has dropped a huge Black Friday discount on the Asus ROG Ally
The Steam Deck OLED may have grabbed the PC gaming handheld headlines last week but the Asus ROG Ally is biting back with an early Black Friday discount.
PC gaming handhelds have blown up over the last year or so, with Steam, Asus and Aya Neo leading the charge and a Lenovo Legion Go inbound. Since they are so new and fresh, it’s pleasing to see the ROG Ally reduced now. The Asus ROG Ally is now £100 off at Currys, down to just £599.
Currys has slashed £100 off the Asus ROG Ally for Black Friday
Asus’ excellent PC gaming handheld has got a tidy discount in this early Black Friday offer, trimming £100 off the usual £699 price. Now at just £599.
CurrysSave £100Now £599This deal is particularly eye-catching as one of the main qualms with the ROG Ally is that you have to pay a bit extra for the dose of luxury it offers over the value-for-money Steam Deck. This offer doesn’t bring it down quite as low as the Steam Deck, but it puts it to just £30 more than the top-end Steam offering. At £599, the burden on your wallet feels plenty less… burdensome.
Again, with the Asus ROG Ally being so new, it’s been rare to see any money slashed off the price. The cheapest way to get a ROG Ally had been to opt for the lower power processor, the Ryzen Z1 rather than the Z1 Extreme on this model, but that’s not widely available yet. And, this reduction brings it down to the expected starting price of that cheaper model anyways.
Is the Asus ROG Ally worth buying?A more powerful alternative to the Steam Deck
ProsMore powerful than a Steam DeckStreamlined and stylish designFull HD screen is colourful and vibantWindows 11 is user friendly ConsExpensive compared to competitorsPoor battery life120Hz screen feels wasted hereThe Steam Deck is an undeniably excellent device but it is largely focused on being a value-for-money pick, whereas the ROG Ally opts for a bit more style and horsepower. The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme offers more performance than you can get from the Steam Deck, and the design is a more refined and modern one. We were impressed by the Full HD display as well, offering a bright, lush and vivid look. Windows 11, admittedly, isn’t for everyone when it comes to gaming handhelds but we found it easy to use, especially when downloading multiple launchers.

Liberal Washington Post Buries Story of 300K People Marching for Israel in DC in its Metro Section | The Gateway Pundit
You can tell just as much about the media and its bias not by what they cover, but what they do not cover.
Nearly 300,000 people marched in Washington, DC on Tuesday to show support for Israel.
You might think that such a big story would warrant front page coverage at the Washington Post, but you’d be wrong. They buried the story in their Metro section.
Anyone surprised?
290,000 people marched in support of Israel yesterday and the Washington Post buried it in their metro section. pic.twitter.com/MV88dLvuK8

Of course, the Women’s March in 2017 got front page coverage at the Post.

In our nation’s capital yesterday, we saw one of the largest gatherings of Jewish people in modern history.
How does that not qualify for the front page of the Washington Post? https://t.co/s66UWQsJ52

Even the left wing New York Times covered the Israel March on their front page.

The Washington Post was once a serious publication. Unfortunately, like so many of our institutions, it has been taken over by far left social justice warriors.
