BEYOND STUPID: Democrat Official in San Francisco Blames City’s Homeless Problem on… Capitalism | The Gateway Pundit

A Democrat city supervisor in San Francisco is blaming the city’s massive homeless problem on capitalism. This is so dumb.

Who are the people in San Francisco defending capitalism? As we have documented numerous times, small business owners and large companies are fleeing the city in droves over crime and homelessness and no one from the city is sticking up for them.

San Francisco is run by leftists and has been for decades. Blaming capitalism is what stupid, progressive, Bernie Sanders-supporting college students do. It’s not acceptable from a city official.

The New York Post reports:

San Francisco Democrat says homelessness crisis in his district is ‘absolutely the result of capitalism’

San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston claimed the city’s homelessness problems were “absolutely the result of capitalism,” and it was “counterproductive” to arrest people openly doing drugs.

Preston’s District 5 includes the Tenderloin District, an area known for its open-air drug market. Nearly half of the city’s homeless population lived in this district in 2022, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The Democratic Socialist supervisor argued his district was particularly affected by homelessness because of the country’s economic structure.

“I think what you’re seeing in the Tenderloin is absolutely the result of capitalism and what happens in capitalism to the people at the bottom rungs,” the local leader reportedly remarked in a new documentary by the UK outlet, UnHerd.

“The biggest driver of why folks are on the street is because they lost their jobs, income or were evicted from their homes, usually for not being able to pay the rent. So you have major landlords literally causing folks to lose their homes, and real estate speculation making it impossible for folks to find an affordable place to live,” he reportedly said in the interview.

Are there people living on the street because they hit hard times and lost their homes? Yes, absolutely. But they are in the minority. The vast majority of homeless people in cities like San Francisco are living that way because they are mentally ill, or addicted to drugs, or both.

San Francisco’s policies are the problem, not capitalism pic.twitter.com/SoPLkYbe8u

This is not a capitalism problem. If anything, the city of San Francisco would look better right now if they defended the capitalists (business owners) instead of coddling the homeless.

Meet Audiobox, Meta’s new generative AI that clones voices

Meta has launched the demo of their newest generative artificial intelligence (AI) called, Audiobox

It comes with the tagline ‘Where anyone can make a sound with an idea’ and this new AI is built on, and replaces, Voicebox, their previous voice-generating AI.

According to a blog post by the social media giant, Audiobox is an improvement because it combines voice generation with sound effects and soundscape generation, vastly increasing the possibilities. The tool’s webpage states “It can generate voices and sound effects using a combination of voice inputs and natural language text prompts — making it easy to create custom audio for a wide range of use cases.”

Starting today you can try our new foundation research model for audio generation. The demo includes Zero shot TTS, Text to sound effects, Infilling and more!

Try Audiobox ➡ https://t.co/8OPcJYy8a9 pic.twitter.com/lo9rCOZMAh

— AI at Meta (@AIatMeta) December 11, 2023

It’s as simple as typing in a sentence you want the AI to say and choosing what kind of voice you want to hear it in, or a sound effect you want it to create, and Audiobox will generate it for you. But you can also go one level deeper and record your voice and have the tool speak with a generated version of it. You only need to record a sentence or two to get an uncannily accurate result.

Users can experiment with the tool now, but Meta makes it clear that the current release is a research demo only, and “may not be used for any commercial purpose(s).” It also stipulates that residents of Texas and Illinois cannot use the tool. VentureBeat reports that this is due to state laws preventing the kind of audio data collection required for the demo to function.

Concerns about AI and society

Earlier this year the owners of Facebook disbanded their “responsible AI” team in favor of investing more heavily into generative AI. Along with the recent expansion of their AI image generator into a standalone tool, the launch of Audiobox is a clear step in that direction. Neither of these new tools is open source, which is a surprising move after Meta’s release of Llama 2, an open-source competitor to ChatGPT and other large language models.

There is no information in the blog post, or the research paper that was released alongside the demo, as to the nature of the data collection undertaken for this model. This will undoubtedly raise eyebrows as the world scrambles to understand how AI models fit into copyright laws.

POLL: Support for Trump Among Black Americans is up Nine Points From 2020 | The Gateway Pundit

Black Americans are increasingly turning their support to Donald Trump for 2024, according to new polling from GenForward.

Trump’s support among black Americans has increased by nine points since the 2020 election.

This is likely due to issues such as the economy and the disaster at the southern border. In recent months, black Americans in Chicago and other cities have spoken out loudly against the flood of illegal border crossers being moved into their communities.

Breitbart News reports:

Poll: 17% of Black Americans Support Donald Trump, Up 9 Points from 2020

Former President Donald Trump’s support among black Americans is surging ahead of the 2024 election, polling from GenForward shows.

The black vote is a key demographic that has heavily favored Democrats for the past 50 years. Trump won 8 percent of black voters in 2020.

GenForward polling found:

– 17 percent of black Americans currently support Trump
– 20 percent of black Americans said they would vote for “someone else” other than Trump or Biden

“It is possible, and we’ve seen it before, that a higher number, in particular Black men because of a kind of hypermasculinity of Donald Trump, could vote for Trump [again],” the founder and director of the GenForward project and University of Chicago political science professor Cathy Cohen told Politico.

The poll surveyed 3,448 eligible voters from November 8–30 with a 3-point margin of error.

This news should terrify Democrats.

Black Americans should know that despite everything Democrats and the media tell them, they are welcome in the Trump coalition. Trump wants to make America better for all Americans, regardless of race.

Google loses to Epic in antitrust case

Google has lost its antitrust case to Epic Games, with a US jury concluding that the Google Play Store constitutes a monopoly.

Several years after Epic Games started suing Apple and Google for perceived monopolistic practices, and two years after it largely failed to land anything substantial on Apple, the company has scored a major victory in the courts. The jury is in on Epic v. Google, and they found against the internet giant on all three key points that were put to them.

According to the verdict, Google was indeed supplying an antitrust market in both app distribution and in-app purchasing services, both of which fall under the the Google Play Store banner.

The jury also affirmed that Google had acquired its monopolistic power through anticompetitive conduct within both of those markets.

Finally, the US jury found that Epic was indeed injured by Google’s monopolistic practices, and that Google had “entered into one or more agreements that unreasonably restrained trade”.

Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of the company that makes the popular Fortnite game, has taken to Twitter to announce Epic’s victory.

Victory over Google! After 4 weeks of detailed court testimony, the California jury found against the Google Play monopoly on all counts. The Court’s work on remedies will start in January. Thanks for everyone’s support and faith! Free Fortnite! https://t.co/ITm4YBHCus

— Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) December 12, 2023

In a more detailed post on the Epic website, the company calls the verdict “a win for all app developers and consumers around the world”.

“The evidence presented in this case demonstrates the urgent need for legislation and regulations that address Apple and Google strangleholds over smartphones, including with promising legislation in progress right now with the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill in the UK and the Digital Markets Act in the EU,” it concluded.

It’s now up to the judge for the case to decide what remedial steps Google should take. As reported by The Verge, Judge James Donato has ruled out stipulating a specific lower percentage cut of app profits for Google. It currently sits at 30 percent.

Epic isn’t suing for damages here either, so any major monetary gains will be attained through enforced structural changes rather than a huge payout.

Google, for its part, has said that it plans to challenge the verdict. “We compete fiercely with Apple and its App Store, as well as app stores on Android devices and gaming consoles”, said Google VP Wilson White.

A Guide to Wine Tasting in Cyprus

Are you ready to go wine tasting in Cyprus? Although Cyprus’ winemaking is rooted deep in history, you shouldn’t expect anything supernatural from tasting the local wines.

Most of the wines you get to taste are young, dry wines. The climate and lack of water give local wines a slight acidity. Cyprus has very few sweet wines and almost no fortified wines, except the world-famous dessert wine, Commandaria.

Here’s our guide to wine tasting in Cyprus!

Here’s a quick breakdown:

History of Winemaking in Cyprus

The whole history of winemaking can be divided into three stages:

Stage 1: Spontaneous Original Winemaking

Wines were stored and transported in clay vessels. This gave the wines a special flavor.

The vessels’ walls, made of clay, interacted with the contents. The clay also has a porous structure and is a kind of membrane. Thus, the wine was breathing. This, on the one hand, had a positive effect on the flavor, but on the other hand, greatly reduced the shelf life.

Stage 2: Appearance of Glass Bottles and the Technology of Wine Production on a Large Scale

This stage has not lost its relevance even now.

However, the nature of island life did not allow local winemakers to follow the technology of wine production perfectly. Therefore, the wines varied greatly in flavor and composition even within the same batch.

In addition, of course, the grape harvest made its adjustments. But this is a general rule that applies to absolutely all wineries in the world.

Stage 3: Control and Measurement of Chemical and Physical Characteristics of Wine and Raw Materials

The third stage began relatively recently, with the appearance of precise means of control and measurement of chemical and physical characteristics of wine and raw materials, as well as computerized automation of the process.

Only then do certain stability of wine varieties, their flavor and physical characteristics appear.

Winemaking in Cyprus.Wine Storage in Cyprus

Let’s talk about wine barrels for aging and storing, as well as corks. The unique situation in Cyprus is that there are no locally produced corks or barrels; everything is imported, and it comes at a cost. Additionally, bottles are not manufactured in Cyprus.

But Let’s Start With Corks

Traditionally, bottles are sealed with natural cork, which comes from the bark of the cork oak tree. Like a clay vessel, cork has pores, allowing air to enter the bottle and the wine to “breathe.” However, the cork’s surface area is much smaller than a clay vessel’s, resulting in a significantly longer shelf life.

Portugal and Spain are the primary sources of natural cork production.

Aluminium Cap

Recently, a highly commendable alternative has emerged—the screw aluminum cap. It works well for both affordable and premium wines, offering a more convenient and practical opening experience. However, unlike traditional cork, the wine doesn’t “breathe” with this cap. Yet, when proper corking techniques are followed, it ensures the longest shelf life.

Another option is polymer corks, typically found in less expensive wines. Despite being technologically advanced and suitable for mass production, they are commonly associated with budget-friendly wine selections.

Barrels

By examining the barrels a winery employs, you can swiftly gauge the quality of the wine it creates. The type of barrel used plays a significant role.

Usually, wineries opt for oak barrels from France, occasionally incorporating American oak. While there are innovations, such as the use of Acacia wood, it takes courage to experiment with new options without risking a batch of 10-30 thousand bottles.

Modern winery in Cyprus.Modern winery in Cyprus. Now, Let’s Talk About Cypress Wine

Wine is an alcoholic beverage produced by the fermentation of grape juice. The color of wine does not depend on the color of the grapes, as the juice of any grape is white. However, the skin of the grapes gives a pink or red hue during fermentation.

The main characteristics of wine include its type, which could be white, red, rose, or sparkling. All these types are produced in Cyprus, but sparkling wine is produced to a lesser extent.

Different grape varieties have different flavour characteristics. The main grape varieties grown in Cyprus are:

XinisteriMuscatSauvignon BlancChardonnayMoracanellaPromaraMavroCarignanMaratheftikoYannoudiLefkadaMataroMourvèdreOftalmoCabernet SauvignonMalagaShirazGrenache Alicante Bouchet

Cyprus primarily produces dry wines, spanning from light yellow to intense red. The wines feature a diverse bouquet of gentle aromas and flavors, devoid of bold spices.

The alcohol and acidity levels in the wine can differ. In red wine, tannins play a role in providing structure and firmness, enhancing its ability to age gracefully.

Wine cellar in Cyprus.Wine cellar in Cyprus.Wine Regions in Cyprus

The region and origin are crucial factors that determine a wine’s characteristics.

Cyprus has six wine regions where wines differ in flavour and other characteristics, with the most famous region being Commandaria, located north of Limassol town in the south downhills of the Troodos mountains.

The Label of Wine Bottles

Now, let’s move on to the integral part of any wine bottle: the label.

The label is a very important part of the appearance and content of the wine. Judging by the label, you can understand a lot about the wine without even opening the bottle.

So, what is usually depicted on a wine label? Usually, there are two. Some bottles also have a small part on the neck – the so-called collar label – but it is not very informative. The most important labels are the main label and the back label.

On the label, you can find the following information:

The name of the wine and sometimes the second nameThe name of the producer (winery)Grape variety, one or morePercentage of alcohol contentYear the grapes were harvested (vintage)Region (Appellation)Type of wine (dry, red, table, etc.)Net contentAdditional information (pairing suggestions, flavour notes, serving)Warnings (about the dangers of alcohol)

The main thing to know if you’re not a true wine connoisseur is a simple rule: a wine that has already earned trust and fame does not need a flashy and colorful label. It’s needed for wines still on their way to the pinnacle of their fame, but this rule does not always work in Cyprus. Here, it would be best if you were guided more by recommendations.

Judging by the label, you can only get a general idea of the product inside the bottle, but a combination of factors (cork, color, bottle and label) can suggest a worthy specimen.

If you encounter any difficulties, it’s best to seek expert help.

Wineries in Cyprus

Now, let’s talk a little about wineries. Some modern wineries guarantee consistent quality, including:

Zambartas Wineries, Tsangarides Winery, Vlassides Winery and others.

Alternatively, some wineries take a more traditional approach, including:

Kalamos Winery, Linos Winery, Ktima Gerolemo, Shoufas Winery, Ayia Mavri and others.

The choice is ultimately yours… or you choose an expert to guide you:

SLASH AND BURN: Javier Milei Cuts Almost a Dozen Government Ministries on His First Day in Office | The Gateway Pundit

Argentina’s new President Javier Milei promised the people of his country that if elected, he would slash the size of their government and so far, he is delivering.

On his first day in office, he cut the number of government ministries from 21 to 9 and he is probably not even finished yet.

The departments he cut are largely the ones based on progressive ideas like social justice. He is clearly serious about radical reform for Argentina.

RedState reports:

Javier Milei Takes Office in Argentina, and His First Move Immediately Triggers All the Right People

For the first time in decades, Argentina is no longer ruled by socialists. Libertarian-leaning President Javier Milei was officially sworn in on Sunday, marking a major turning point in the country’s battle against hyperinflation and economic decline.

In November, Argentina reached 183 percent inflation for 2023, impoverishing around 40 percent of the country, a reality that helped sweep Milei into power. Now, he’s taking action, with his first move in office being an executive order that slashes the number of government ministries from 21 to nine. Among those put on the chopping block was the ministry of “women, genders, and diversity,” a move he recently telegraphed in his criticisms of “social justice.”

It didn’t take long for the hand-wringing to begin in the press. PBS News published an article dripping with sanctimony, claiming that Milei’s ideas are “outlandish” and “radical.” What makes that so ironic is that the very same article admits that Argentina is in dire straits.

Open Source start-up Mistral receives $414 million in funding

Open Source start-up Mistral becomes leader in European artificial intelligence.

Mistral, the open-source artificial intelligence provider has closed its much anticipated initial round of funding. Taking total investments to around €450 million for the French company. Mistral provides open-source software to power chat bots and AI solutions. The young start-up has been closely watched by leading American investors throughout this funding drive.

The end of this investment window sees the start-up valued at $2 Billion, as reported via Bloomberg.

Silicon Valley investors leading the charge

Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, and Salesforce have all set out funding commitments in Mistral’s initial Series A round of fundraising.

Andreessen Horowitz, or a16z, is responsible for a robust portfolio of up to $35 Billion. The venture capital giant has interests across AI, bio + healthcare, crypto, fintech, and gaming.

The company announced via its website, “we’re thrilled to announce our Series A investment in Mistral.”

”Mistral is dedicated to the mission of bringing open-source AI models to the world. We believe they are picking up where other AI labs and big companies have left off, fostering open research, open models, and open collaboration in the AI community.”

Nvidia is one of the leading global microchip producers and Salesforce is an established American software provider. Nvidia recently published a paper in October comparing techniques for handling long context in large language models (LLMs) — the key algorithms behind today’s conversational AI.

Europe becoming an established presence in all things AI

Mistral was founded in May 2023 and has already seen exponential investment and growth. The only other company with a comparative investment this year is Germany’s Aleph Alpha which, as reported by CNBC. received around €500 million in November, providing Europe with two heavily backed AI start-up rivals in 2023.

European Union rules on AI Governance

The European Union’s 27 member states agreed to the Artificial Intelligence act, marking a significant milestone in the development and use of AI solutions. Key talking points included the use of facial recognition software and the policies and working practices involved in deploying software ethically.

Europe is the first continent to set out clear rules for AI governance and copyright protection, but only time will tell if it will set a precedent in the future of AI software development and use.

Tucker Carlson Tells Megyn Kelly There Will be Violence if Sham Prosecutions of Trump Continue (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Tucker Carlson appeared on the Megyn Kelly podcast on Monday and warned that there will be violence in America if the sham prosecutions of Trump continue and especially if he is sent to jail.

Megyn Kelly has made this point herself and agreed with Tucker. She went on to cite a report from the liberal outlet ‘Axios’ which engaged in fear mongering over Trump that is pure projection.

Tucker emphasizes that he does not want violence but points out that the establishment is taking away all of the avenues people have for expressing themselves peacefully.

Democrats and the media are playing with fire.

Breitbart News has more details:

Tucker Carlson on Trump Prosecutions: ‘You’re Going to Get Violence if You Keep This Sh-t Up’

Tucker Carlson, founder of the Tucker Carlson Network, said Monday on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” that violence was likely if Donald Trump is in prison ahead of the November election.

Discussing what could happen if Trump is convicted in the federal election case, Megyn Kelly said, “If she puts him in jail pending appeal before the election the country’s going to burn. Then all this blowback, ‘Oh my God she is calling for violence.’ I’m not calling for violence. But there is no way the Trump base is not going to be beside itself with anger at that level of deprivation of being able to simply vote for the candidate of choice. That’s what’s being taken away here.”

Carlson said, “Speaking of violence that is what you are going to get.”

He continued, “If you leave people no alternative, then what do you think is going to happen? I mean, the whole point of electoral democracy is that it’s a pressure relief valve that takes people who are very frustrated with the way things are going and gives them a way to express themselves, have their desires heard and ultimately their will done, to be represented in a peaceful way.”

Watch the video below:

We are in uncharted territory and Democrats put us here. Things could definitely get even crazier in the coming year.

The Biden administration funding to boost chip production

The Biden administration has disclosed its inaugural federal financial support for computer chip production, allocating $35 million to BAE Systems to enhance output at a facility in New Hampshire. These chips are employed in military aircraft, including F-15 and F-35 jets. This funding provision stems from the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, which seeks to foster the growth of semiconductor innovation and production in the U.S. by distributing over $52 billion. The allocation of funds for BAE Systems signifies the government’s commitment to strengthening domestic semiconductor manufacturing and reducing reliance on foreign supply chains. As the demand for advanced chips continues to rise, this investment bolsters national security and ensures the U.S. remains competitive in the rapidly evolving global semiconductor market.

Focus on national security and military applications

The choice of a military contractor like BAE Systems by the Commerce Department highlights the national security focus of the legislation. Advanced chips are becoming increasingly vital as they are crucial in preventing and conducting wars. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo emphasized avoiding dependence on specific regions or nations for these essential technologies. It is crucial to diversify the sources of these advanced chips to maintain a reliable supply chain and limit potential vulnerabilities. Additionally, fostering domestic production and partnerships with trusted allies can further boost the resilience and effectiveness of a nation’s defense capabilities.

Fears regarding the potential for a military assault on Taiwan and its consequences on global computer chip supplies and the U.S. economy contributed to President Joe Biden signing the incentives. The incentives aimed to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing and reduce the country’s reliance on foreign supply chains, mainly from East Asia. Furthermore, the Biden administration hoped to strengthen national security while simultaneously fueling economic growth within this critical industry.

Incentives and investments in semiconductors and electronics

Biden stated that his administration’s incentives have already led to over $230 billion in planned investments in semiconductors and electronics. These investments aim to strengthen the domestic production capacity of semiconductors and boost the overall electronic supply chain in the United States. The move reflects the country’s strategic efforts to reduce its dependence on foreign sources for these critical components and ensure a more robust and resilient economy.

Missouri AG Andrew Bailey Sues Media Matters for Violating State Consumer Protection Laws and Defrauding Missourians | The Gateway Pundit

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey launched an investigation into Media Matters for America on Monday, December 11, 2023.

AG Andrew Bailey accused Media Matters of using fraud to solicit donations from Missourians in order to bully advertisers.

Attorney General Andrew Bailey made this explosive accusation, “We have reason to believe Media Matters used fraud to solicit donations from Missourians in order to bully advertisers into pulling out of X, the last platform dedicated to free speech in America.”

The Missouri Attorney General did not hold back in his attacks on Media Matters alleging the enemies of free speech, like Media Matters for America, are attempting to kill Twitter-X because they cannot control it now that Elon Musk took over. Bailey added, “I’m fighting to ensure progressive tyrants masquerading as news outlets cannot manipulate the marketplace in order to wipe out free speech.”

What’s not to love?

It’s about time Republican officials stood up to the tyrannical leftist groups who are destroying our American way of life. Media Matters is the worst.

Here is Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s letter to Media Matters for America.

The Gateway Pundit is currently the lead plaintiff in the Andrew Bailey’s other high profile case – the Missouri-Louisiana v. Biden case on free speech in America. The Biden regime insists it has the right to censor and silence American voices like they did with The Gateway Pundit. This case will likely reach the Supreme Court in the coming months.
