Republicans of House Committee on Education Open Investigation of Harvard, MIT and Penn After Hearing on Anti-Semitism | The Gateway Pundit
The congressional hearings on anti-Semitism in higher education this week were a disaster for Harvard, MIT and Penn. The presidents of these schools showed the nation how insane our college campuses have become in recent years.
Now Republicans of the Committee on Education are opening a formal investigation into these schools.
There is nothing these schools would love more than for this public relations nightmare to end and fade into history but this investigation ensures that isn’t going to happen. The public is going to learn even more about what is happening at these schools.
Inside Higher Ed reports:
House Education Panel to Investigate Harvard, Penn, MIT
The House Education and Workforce Committee said Thursday that it would formally investigate Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania for their recent responses to campus antisemitism—and warned that other inquiries could follow.
North Carolina representative Virginia Foxx, the Republican chair of the committee, said in a statement Thursday that the testimony of the three institutions’ presidents at a hearing on antisemitism earlier this week was “absolutely unacceptable.”
“Committee members have deep concerns with their leadership and their failure to take steps to provide Jewish students the safe learning environment they are due under law,” Foxx said.
The committee is planning to investigate the “learning environment” at the three universities, along with their policies and disciplinary procedures. The probe will include “substantial document requests” and subpoenas.
More from Hot Air:
The three presidents have since tried to offer apologies for their refusal to unequivocally say that calling for the elimination of Israel and Jews during antisemitic demonstrations on campus breaches what is acceptable speech. The word frequently used by the presidents was “context.” They claimed that threats to Jews on campus had to be seen “in context” and not immediately called out. It was shocking to hear how they were so adamant in allowing such behavior. They would not say that calling for genocide was against institutional policy, despite being given many opportunities by committee members to do so during the hearing.
Most of the criticism has gone to Harvard President Claudine Gay and Penn President Liz Magill. Major donors have pulled back on their pledges of financial contributions.
One or more of these college presidents could be out of a job before this is over. As they should be. Their testimony this week was shocking and disgusting.

Investigation Finds 131 Percent of Eligible Voters Registered in Washington, DC | The Gateway Pundit
The watchdog group Judicial Watch has done a deep dive into the voter rolls of Washington, DC and some other places and found an absolute mess.
In Washington, DC, eligible voters are registered at a rate of 131%, violating standards of basic math.
It’s probably just an oversight, right? It couldn’t be a problem of fraud or anything nefarious.
The Washington Examiner reported:
‘Dirty voter rolls’ slammed, 131% of eligible DC voters registered
Several states and the District of Columbia have been hit by an election watchdog for failing to clean up their voter rolls of the dead and ineligible.
Judicial Watch said it just finished investigating registrations and sent letters to the district, California, and Illinois warning that they are violating the National Voter Registration Act by not cleaning up the rolls.
In the case of Washington, D.C., Judicial Watch said the voting rolls revealed a much higher number than are eligible to vote.
“D.C.’s total registration rate — its total number of registrations divided by the most recent census estimates of its citizen voting-age population — is greater than 131%,” said the review.
But Judicial Watch also gave credit to the district for moving quickly after receiving its letter to begin removing 103,000 names of ineligible voters. California and Illinois have promised to clean up their rolls.
According to , they are already getting results on this:
DC Removing 103,000 Ineligible Names from the Voter Rolls in Response to Judicial Watch
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it sent notice letters to election officials in the District of Columbia, California, and Illinois, notifying them of evident violations of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993, based on their failure to remove inactive voters from their registration rolls. The letters point out that these jurisdictions publicly reported removing few or no ineligible voter registrations under a key provision of the NVRA. The letters threaten federal lawsuits unless the violations are corrected in a timely fashion. In response to Judicial Watch’s inquiries, Washington, DC, officials admitted that they had not complied with the NVRA, promptly removed 65,544 outdated names from the voting rolls, promised to remove 37,962 more, and designated another 73,522 registrations as “inactive.”
The NVRA requires states to “conduct a general program that makes a reasonable effort to remove” from the official voter rolls “the names of ineligible voters” who have died or changed residence. The law requires registrations to be cancelled when voters fail to respond to address confirmation notices and then fail to vote in the next two general federal elections. In 2018, the Supreme Court confirmed that such removals are mandatory (Husted v. A. Philip Randolph Inst., 138 S. Ct. 1833, 1841-42 (2018)).

Arizona Republican Introducing Legislation to Tax College Endowments: ‘Enough is Enough’ | The Gateway Pundit
Arizona Republican Rep. Eli Crane is introducing legislation to tax the multi-billion dollar endowments of colleges and universities.
This is way past due. Harvard and many other schools have endowments that are larger than the GDP of most of the countries on the planet.
Following all of the shocking displays of anti-Semitism and support for Hamas on college and university campuses in recent months, several billionaire donors have pulled support for various schools but that isn’t enough.
The way to create real change in our radicalized higher education system is to hit them where it hurts. Right in the wallet.
Townhall reports:
‘Enough Is Enough’: New Plan Introduced to Tax University Endowments
Arizona Republican Congressman Eli Crane has introduced legislation to tax massive endowments held by the country’s elitist academic institutions as their leaders repeatedly fail to offer moral clarity on a variety of issues.
Taking to Twitter, Crane announced the filing in response to the presidents of Penn, Harvard and MIT refusing to fully condemn calls for genocide against Jewish students on campus. A number of lawmakers are onboard.
In the tweet below, Crane says: “Enough is enough. We’re $33 trillion in debt & the “elite” institutions of this country are failing the American people & abusing federal funds. I have filed legislation to defund any university with an endowment greater than $5 billion. We have to start somewhere.”
Enough is enough. We’re $33 trillion in debt & the “elite” institutions of this country are failing the American people & abusing federal funds.
I have filed legislation to defund any university with an endowment greater than $5 billion. We have to start somewhere. https://t.co/ygh0hY0Giz
— Rep. Eli Crane (@RepEliCrane) December 6, 2023
Chip Roy of Texas is on board.
Co-sponsor. Relatedly, I tried to offer an amendment a few weeks ago restricting federal funds to universities that are subject to the endowment tax (that would capture a large number of these academic hell-holes)… but it was ruled non-Germane… but we will fix that next time. https://t.co/ciW1Z7jBPx
— Chip Roy (@chiproytx) December 6, 2023
Senator Rick Scott is also talking about this.
Elite colleges are taking BILLIONS from American taxpayers, all while propping up antisemitism and pushing radical political agendas.
We must pass my COLLEGE Act and ensure universities use endowment funds to lower tuition, not line their coffers to push a political agenda. pic.twitter.com/1k4koYE9Ot
— Rick Scott (@SenRickScott) December 1, 2023
Conservatives don’t usually cheer for new taxes but many will make an exception in this case. These schools need to feel pain in order to change. Americans have had enough of these radical left-wing indoctrination centers.

Nintendo live Tokyo canceled over violent threats
Nintendo has dealt a major blow to gaming fans by announcing the cancellation of its highly-anticipated Nintendo Live 2024 event scheduled for January in Tokyo, Japan, according to a recent Dexerto report. The extreme move came after multiple “disturbing and specific” threats of violence were made against both Nintendo employees and fans planning to attend the event.
Nintendo Live events have become legendary in the gaming community, offering die-hard Nintendo fans hands-on gameplay with new title releases, gaming tournaments, developer discussions, and exclusive Nintendo swag. Over 100,000 attendees were expected at Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo which was set to feature high-stakes tournaments for hit games like Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Nintendo says they regret canceling the eventIn a translated statement, Nintendo expressed regret in having to cancel an event fans had waited years for but said “detailed and credible threats” left them no choice but to prioritize safety over the event. They did not disclose the specifics of the threats. Online discussion boards have lit up with fans expressing everything from disappointment to outright rage.
Though gaming events have dealt with threats before related to cheating disputes or match-fixing controversies, threats against fans are extremely rare, especially with violence. So far it is unclear if the threats are related to internal Nintendo conflicts or profit disputes with partner developers or if the company just found itself in the middle of larger sociopolitical turmoil crossfire.
Along with canceling Nintendo Live altogether, Nintendo also announced they have postponed the high-profile Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart tournaments indefinitely, with no details on if or when they may be rescheduled. Given the extreme step of canceling Nintendo Live altogether, the company appears to be taking the threats extremely seriously.

New app could soon bring FaceTime and blue bubbles to Android phones
A new app, Beeper Mini, could remove some of the final differences between Android and Apple smartphones.
The battle between Android and Apple users is as long-standing as the enmity between PC and console gamers. One of the key indicators of whether someone you know is using an Android phone is if you drop them a message from an iPhone. The telltale green bubble pops up, signposting that they’re not an iPhone and therefore can’t use iMessage.
Apps like WhatsApp have steadily grown over the years, meaning people on any smartphone can communicate via 4G and wifi, rather than SMS texts. However, Beeper Mini seeks to introduce blue bubbles to Android users, as well as plans to introduce Facetime to Andoird phones, Apple’s own video call tool.
How Beeper Mini worksFirst things first, it’s important to note Beeper Mini isn’t a free-to-use app. It’s currently $1.99 (around £1.50) per month.
Some users seem to love it, judging from reviews, while others point out on the Android store page reviews that it needs a few extra upgrades to make it worth the money.
Beeper chats are end-to-end encrypted so only you and the person/people you’re messaging can see what’s being sent. What’s more, because the app connects directly to Apple’s servers, Beeper doesn’t need to store your data (as it would if it relayed your messages for you, for example).
Indeed, the encryption appears to be safer than regular texts between Android and Apple texts, which don’t benefit from the same level of privacy. Ultimately, if those green bubbles are still creating a boundary between you and your iPhone-using friends, or you want a more secure, WhatsApp-free to text between iPhones and Androids, it might be worth the monthly fee.
Down the line, you’ll also be able to use Facetime, as promised in a full product roadmap recently published by Beeper.

Private Emails Reveal Fani Willis Wants to Jail Trump and His Top Allies Charged in RICO Case | The Gateway Pundit
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis wants to jail Trump, his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani in the RICO and conspiracy case against the former president.
“We have a long road ahead,” the Fulton County district attorney, Fani Willis, wrote in one email on November 29, according to The Guardian. “Long after these folks are in jail, we will still be practicing law.”
In August Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis hit President Trump and 18 others with RICO and conspiracy charges for daring to challenge the 2020 election.
A Fulton County grand jury returned a 41-count indictment which included RICO and conspiracy charges against Trump.
Four of Trump’s co-defendants, including attorneys, have pleaded guilty to lesser charges in plea deals in Fani Willis’s RICO case.
In October Trump’s lawyer, Kenneth Chesebro pleaded guilty to the Georgia case in exchange for reduced charges.
Chesebro was set to stand trial, but he accepted a plea agreement as jury selection was underway. He will pay a $5,000 fine, serve 5 years probation and 100 hours of community service to avoid prison.
The Trump attorney also wrote an apology letter and must testify.
Attorney Sidney Powell and bail bondsman Scott Hall both pleaded guilty in exchange for reduced charges because Fani Willis does not have a RICO case.
Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty in Fani Willis’ Georgia election case in exchange for reduced charges in October.
Ellis was the fourth co-defendant and third attorney to plead guilty in the Georgia election case. Not one defendant has pleaded guilty to RICO charges.
A tearful Ellis, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings. She did not plead guilty to the RICO charge.
As part of her plea deal, Ellis was sentenced to 5 years probation, ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, serve 100 hours of community service and pen an apology letter to the people of Georgia in a Mao struggle session.
Fani Willis’s prosecutors however are not expected to offer plea agreements to Trump, Meadows and Giuliani.
President Trump’s attorneys previously said they will not strike a deal with the Fulton County DA. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges.

How to Market Your Business During Economic Uncertainty
Successfully marketing your business is a challenge regardless of economic uncertainty. But when its overall performance doesn’t look like it’s going to trend upward, this uncertainty can make you sweat. Your marketing dollars must work harder, while your creative campaigns really need to hit the mark with your audience. Simply put, there is less room for error.
If it’s any comfort, even the greats don’t get it right every time. But that doesn’t mean you want to throw caution to the wind when you’re unsure how the economy will perform. Uncertainty leads to anxiety for consumers, too. They start scrimping and saving, looking for ways to make cutbacks or delay purchases. And you certainly don’t want your brand to fall into either of those categories.
So, how can you make your marketing stand out while reaching and motivating your audience? It begins with putting yourself in your customers’ shoes in each market segment. While this practice sounds like a no-brainer for marketers, empathy extends to every portion of your strategy. It lays the groundwork for meeting consumers where they’re currently at, establishing trust, and building loyalty.
Besides starting from a place of empathy, you can expand beyond the scope of traditional marketing. Paying attention to customer acquisition and retention through data-driven techniques also builds loyalty. It’s a practice known as growth marketing. With this approach, you aim to maximize conversions at every step of the buyer’s journey. This goal includes the referral stage, where loyal customers participate in your marketing processes.
Do More Than Create AwarenessConventional marketing might be good at creating awareness. You design an ad campaign and launch it out into the world. You’re probably using some research to define your target audience while determining what media they’ll likely consume. But you’re also relying on your gut to shape your campaign, hoping your audience will see, hear, and read it.
You’re going with a hunch in terms of what messaging you believe will capture their attention. And you’re focusing on growing your business by adding new customers to the flock. Although gaining additional clients fuels growth, cultivating those already in your fold does so even more. That’s why, unlike traditional marketing methods, growth marketing strategies focus on more than just creating awareness.
By embracing growth marketing, your business aims to keep as many customers as possible for as long as possible. Client retention doesn’t take as many resources since the methods you’re using — customer service, small incentives like discounts, etc. — generally cost less than ads. Plus, the data shows increasing customer retention by 5% can grow profits by 25% to 95%.
With growth marketing, you’re looking at the whole picture. Determine where customers are falling out of the funnel on the way from awareness to brand ambassador. Are there things you can do to boost the percentage of one-time buyers who return for more? The same goes for those who fit into various revenue tiers and refer others to your brand. Marketing doesn’t end with an awareness campaign or when a new client purchases their first product.
Consider Your Customers’ State of MindGetting inside your target audience’s head is the reason you do research. The insights you gain help inform all aspects of your marketing strategy, from product designs to promotions. It’s even more imperative to know where your consumers are coming from in times of economic uncertainty.
In contrast to previous economic wobbles, consumer spending remains strong in 2023, despite inflation and dwindling savings. Yet the current uncertainty may impact various segments of your audience differently. In many cases, their priorities and preferences will change. Simultaneously, some preferences won’t shift. You may need to tweak your messaging, reposition your products, and change your frequency.
In this context, frequency refers to the “strength of your signal.” In this radio analogy, frequency is the vibration that distinguishes your brand from others on the same general wavelength. To know your audience is to know your frequency. So if your core audience is heavily impacted by economic uncertainty, find out how they’re responding to it.
Sometimes, you can do this by looking at data from past periods of economic turbulence and seeing which companies and sectors struggled or thrived. However, every period and sector has unique, influential factors. Take real estate, for example.
While home prices tended to decline during the 2008 recession, a lack of inventory has kept price tags up this time around. That fact likely explains why home sales decreased by 4.1% from September to October 2023. Interest rates are high, and prices aren’t falling, making affordability a real concern for most consumers. If you’re in the real estate industry, it’s a concern for you, too.
Still, affordability may not worry consumers in all home-buying segments, such as those with higher incomes or savings. They might be able to absorb more of the sticker shock from asking prices and mortgage rates. Rather than stressing affordability, your messaging could explain that reduced competition makes now a good time to buy an exclusive property. Knowing the effects of economic uncertainty on your industry, products, and various audience segments will help you fine-tune your marketing.
Take a Second Look at Your Brand StoryDuring economic uncertainty, competition is going to kick up a notch. Consumers aren’t just potentially trimming their budgets. When they do spend their money, they’re looking for brands with compelling value propositions and causes they connect with. You can become one of these by communicating an authentic brand story. Giving customers a behind-the-scenes view can serve to humanize your business.
In sharing your story, strive to be consistent and craft a cohesive message. You might want to simplify that message, redirecting focus to your core value proposition. What you don’t want to do is jump all over the place, trying to be everything to everyone. That move can come across as inauthentic and confusing to your audience.
Rather, you want to show how your brand is distinctive and the ways it makes a difference for your target market. At the same time, look at all aspects of your story’s messaging. Is the tone appropriate for how your audience might be feeling right now? And does the unique selling proposition resonate with shifting needs?
Taking real-time feedback into account can help you rethink the story you tell. If customers report that they’re feeling pinched, highlight your cash-strapped startup days and why you persisted in bringing your offering to market. For an audience to understand your brand, you have to share more than a promo. Tell them why your offerings exist, what goes on behind the curtain, and what your brand values.
Pay Attention to the DataPart of a solid marketing strategy is using data to guide your decisions. With growth marketing campaigns, you use data from A/B testing and performance feedback to guide your choices. The information you gather helps refine your tactics so you can discover what successfully moves clients through the funnel.
After all, the goal is to advance them to the next stage. Yes, you know you won’t move everyone to the referral endpoint. It would be unrealistic to think that. Yet, you want to leverage the data to determine where to improve your marketing mix.
Examples include testing different versions of emails and website landing pages. You can also experiment with various forms of personalization, including offers based on purchase history. You could use data to go bigger, such as reshaping business practices and product designs. It’s about listening to what your audience is saying while seeing how your efforts measure up.
Tracking key metrics, such as customer churn, can indicate whether you have a retention problem. But you’ll have to dig into the data and gather additional feedback to determine why you lose clients. During economic uncertainty, it could be because there are appealing substitutes. If participation in your referral program is low, maybe you have a trust issue. Analyze what all the data points are telling you and aim for long-term solutions.
Use Multiple ChannelsAudiences hang out on more than one social platform. They’re exposed to messages from various channels, including email, online ads, digital PR, radio, and print. Most companies don’t limit marketing messages to a single channel. Instead, they meet their target audiences where they’re at. You have to know what media your consumers interact with and the channels that drive conversions.
Be aware, though, that digital services can be one of the hidden costs of running a business. Creating a website, redesigning one, creating online content, and managing social posts add up. You still have employee overhead if you’re doing some or all of it in-house. Your employees might also not be optimizing their time, spending too much on figuring things out instead of executing.
You want to create cohesive cross-channel marketing experiences while being cost-effective. Listening to the performance data will also help you here. An honest look at your in-house resources will do the same. You can and should partner with outside vendors when your staff lacks the necessary expertise. Or maybe you need to enhance your employees’ abilities and allocate their time better.
Use a web analytics platform to determine whether you’re using channels where your audience engages with your brand. You don’t have to maintain a presence on every social site. But you do have to tie in your social presence with your website, app, retail footprint, and other messaging formats. Make it seamless for consumers to move back and forth between channels.
Marketing During Economic UncertaintyPromoting your business when the economy is on shaky ground is challenging because consumers get more selective. You’ll need to determine how your market segments respond to the economic headwinds and modify your messaging accordingly.
At the same time, remember that marketing during economic uncertainty should extend beyond customer acquisition. Your existing clients constitute a more profitable and long-term revenue-generating segment. Appeal to them at each stage of the buyer’s journey by finding ways to add value and leverage data. And don’t neglect to consistently communicate your brand’s unique selling points through synergistic, engaging experiences.
