Scandi Girls’ Ultimate Winter Accessory Is A Knitted Balaclava
The nights are drawing in and the temperatures are dropping, which means it’s time to start wrapping up. And the best way to do so while still looking chic is to take your cues from those in colder climates.
Scandinavians in particular know a thing or two about keeping warm while staying stylish. One of the most recent and chicest warming accessories we’ve seen worn in Nordic climes and sold by Scandinavian brands is the balaclava or knitted hood. Commonly associated with keeping children’s heads warm in winter, the balaclava has reached adulthood in the last couple of years and is now a cool girl winter staple.
While the full-face-covering option is also trending, we’re seeing more of the open-faced option on IG (as well as the occasional knitted bonnet and bandana). Best worn with the hairline visible (so you don’t look 100% like an egg), the hood can be paired with any outfit and comes in a range of designs, textures and colours to suit any mood. No cold ears this year!
From hand-knits to high street, here are our favourite picks this season.

Law Firm Announces it Will No Longer Recruit at Harvard University Due to President’s Congressional Testimony | The Gateway Pundit
The fallout continues for Harvard University.
A law firm has just announced that it will no longer recruit from the school, due to the controversy surrounding Harvard President Claudine Gay, who failed to flatly condemn students on campus calling for the genocide of Jews.
Gay has also been exposed as a plagiarist, but the school is standing by her. It’s amazing how much damage all of this has done to the school’s brand.
FOX News reports:
Law firm to cease on-campus recruiting at Harvard due to university president’s congressional testimony
A law firm will cease on-campus recruiting of Harvard Law students due to the university president’s recent congressional testimony, telling Fox News Digital the move will be in place until there is a “sea change” on campus.
Edelson PC law firm founder Jay Edelson penned a letter to Harvard Law’s director of recruitment and operations saying that the firm will not be participating in the university’s upcoming Spring Interview Program. The Spring Interview Program, which begins Jan. 29, facilitates opportunities for employers to interview prospective students on campus.
The firm added that it will also skip a larger on-campus interviewing event in August, according to Reuters. Edelson told Reuters in an interview that the event is where major law firms often hire many of their summer associates.
Edelson sent a statement to Fox News Digital about the decision, saying the move came because of how Harvard and its president Claudine Gay handled the aftermath of her disastrous testimony before Congress on antisemitism at the school.
Harvard University’s top brass backed the embattled president following intense backlash towards her comments about antisemitism and accusations of plagiarism.
The optics of this are terrible. A public relations nightmare.
We have made the decision to stop our on-campus recruiting at @Harvard_Law following Dr. Gay’s congressional testimony. An article, which links to our letter, follows.https://t.co/US1XrPvo9P

This law firm will not be the last one to make this decision.

Marketing company claims it’s actually listening to your phone and smart speakers to target ads
A marketing company has claimed to have the capability to listen to customers’ conversations through embedded microphones in smartphones, TVs and other related devices.
The report from 404 Media details that the information captured would be used to gather data and push advertising as part of a product called Active Listening.
We have all been there. It starts with looking at something on a website then you start seeing adverts for it on your phone. It gets worse when you happen to be talking about a different place or product and all of a sudden, the adverts are coming back to you like a boomerang.
Yes, some people have been convinced that phones already have been recording us surreptitiously in a tangled web that involves online permissions, sophisticated advertising techniques and web cookies.
Permission to be listened toWithin Cox Media Group, a marketing team has been briefing on this product news to interested, potential clients but it is unknown if the service is already in use, or ready-made and future proof, as the 404 report portays.
It states that a representative from CMG was speaking directly about the Active Listening product on LinkedIn and inviting expressions of interest.
CMG claims that the product can “target your advertising to the exact people you are looking for,” based on what is captured in normal, everyday conversations.
Users can “claim” a territory within a small radius and then with an audience secured, CMG is able to roll-out an advertising deck, targeted at customers through TV and audio streaming, display ads, Google and YouTube.
Transparency around such a product is as welcome as it is rare, given the obvious concerns that consumers would have if they knew their devices were being used to target them directly. There are also obvious safety and legislative concerns.
However, the small print when we are accepting terms and conditions online isn’t checked often, meaning that you can be giving your permission to be listened to in your own home or wherever you may be.

FBI Targeting of Devout Catholics Went Way Beyond What Chris Wray Claimed During Testimony to Congress | The Gateway Pundit
Chris Wray and the FBI are now targeting devout Christians as potential terrorists – in America!
As Gateway Pundit reported in April, Chris Wray’s FBI is now infiltrating Catholic parishes.
The FBI agents are engaging in outreach to Catholic leaders to spy on Americans practicing their Christian faith.
This was a shocking revelation. Americans already knew the FBI-DOJ was targeting traditional Catholics from earlier reporting. We also have evidence they are infiltrating Catholic parishes.
Chris Wray’s FBI sent out a memo warning agents of the dangerous ‘radical traditionalist Catholic ideology’ that was gaining popularity in the country. The memo was posted at UncoverDC.com by former FBI special agent Kyle Seraphin.
Kyle Seraphin last year was suspended indefinitely from the FBI without pay after stepping forward as a whistleblower and alleging that the FBI is trying to hide how many man-hours they used on the Jan 6th investigation. Seraphin had worked at the FBI’s Richmond office for six years.
The Weaponization Committee released more information on this troubling development earlier this month. The committee found that Chris Wray’s FBI targeted devout Catholics because they are pro-Life, pro-family and support biological basis for gender.
The FBI singled out traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists.
How is this any different than any other Marxist regime in history?
Now we know that the targeting of Catholics went WAY BEYOND what Chris Wray told Congress.
When is this guy going to face repercussions for all of his lies under oath?
FOX News reported:
A conservative government watchdog has released almost 100 pages of FBI documents it says show the agency was not fully forthcoming about its actions surveilling and targeting Catholic churches.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray had told congressmen that the memo was ‘a single product by a single field office,’ but the records uncovered by Judicial Watch show that it was “Reviewed by: OGC/CDC [Office of General Counsel/Chief Deputy Counsel],’” Judicial Watch posted in a press release Friday.
Judicial Watch obtained the documents through a FOIA request related to an internal FBI memo leaked earlier this year, which revealed that the agency had efforts underway to identify and treat Catholics as “potential terrorists.”
“The records also indicate coordination with officials from Portland and Milwaukee,” the press release said.
The FBI Richmond internal memo, titled “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities,” was leaked in January and drew instant criticism from Republicans.

Cashless gambling trial in New South Wales expands
The New South Wales (NSW) government is to expand its cashless gambling trial to include nearly 4500 poker machines across 24 local government areas.
As reported by the Guardian, the scheme will be rolled out early in the New Year, following the gambling reform plans that were set out in the state election back in March. The government in Australia’s most populous state had already confirmed that Michael Foggo, a former liquor, gaming and racing commissioner, would lead a panel of 16 industry experts and advocates who will report back to the administration in November 2024.
Foggo intimated that a “large number” of gambling venues are in step with the proposals. He added, “This demonstrates the depth of genuine support this trial has in the industry and its commitment to addressing gambling harm and money laundering,” he said.
Five hundred machines were initially set to be used as part of the gaming trial. Still, this update represents a significant increase in the data that will be available to be scrutinized.
What is cashless gaming?Cashless gaming (or gambling) is the purpose of gambling without using cash or coins.
There are pros and cons to the system which has already been utilized in other parts of Australia and elsewhere. The neighbouring state of Victoria has permitted two types of cashless gaming since 2019, card-based cashless gambling (CBC) and Ticket-In Ticket-Out (TITO).
CBC is the use of a card, linked to an account or a digital wallet to transfer credits to and from a gaming machine while TITO means receiving a ticket as a payout instead of cash.
There are also ways of connecting to a poker machine via an app using Bluetooth technology.
With the debate – and the systems mentioned above – there is more or less human contact and dialogue around gambling transactions which is being considered as part of working to reduce gambling-related harm.
New South Wales residents are said to have lost $4.3bn on poker machines in six months last year, representing $820m more than the total losses recorded before the pandemic, in a similar timeframe.
During the same time last year, more than 220 new gaming machines were put in place across the state, taking the total number of machines to 86,872.
NSW’s gambling minister, David Harris, said the trial was “bigger, broader and delivers nine times more machines” than the initial proposal.
“The strong interest in participating in the cashless gaming trial proves just how serious clubs and hotels are about working with the government to reduce gambling harm and money laundering associated with electronic gaming machines,” he said.

PNG vs JPEG: What’s the difference?
PNG and JPEG are two file formats that are designed for storing digital images, but what’s the difference?
If you’re currently hovering over the export button in your favourite editing software trying to decide between one format or the other, this guide is for you.
Keep reading to learn what a PNG is, what a JPEG is and how they compare.
What is a PNG?PNG is a file format typically reserved for illustrations and web graphics due to its lossless compression technique.
One major benefit to PNGs is that they can retain transparent elements, such as backgrounds, making them ideal for situations where you don’t want to see a white box framing your work, such as a logo on a website.
The biggest downside to PNGs is that these files are typically larger than JPEG files. This allows them to retain more detail but also means that they take longer to load on websites and take up more space on your devices.
PNG stands for Portable Network Graphics and uses the file extension .png.
What is a JPEG?A JPEG is a file type commonly found on cameras and smartphones, though the format is increasingly being replaced by the HEIF format on these devices. One area that still relies heavily on JPEG files over HEIF is social media due to the fact the latter isn’t supported on Twitter or Instagram yet.
Unlike PNGs, JPEGs go through a form of lossy compression. This means that JPEGs are small enough to upload to websites and social media and load very quickly for others to see. This makes the file type ideal for sharing digital photography online.
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, with these images saved under the .jpeg and .jpg extensions.
PNG vs JPEG Both PNG and JPEG are image file formats capable of reproducing around 16 million colours. The main difference between the two formats is the method of compression they use.
JPEG files go through a form of lossy compression, meaning that some data is inevitably lost in the exportation process. The data discarded usually consists of colours the human eye cannot pick out, making JPEG a popular way to store high-quality images that are small enough to load quickly online.
PNG files retain more data due to the use of lossless compression, helping images to remain sharp and high-quality after exporting. However, this method leaves you with larger image files, making PNGs slower to load compared to JPEGs.
This makes the PNG format a less popular choice for sharing images online but very useful for uploading logos and web graphics where text needs to be sharp and transparency is key.
JPEG images are better suited to social media due to their smaller file sizes and faster load times.

UPDATE: Democrat Senate Staffer Who Had Graphic Sex in Capitol Office Building Identified – Was Featured in Biden Campaign Commercial and Yelled “Free Palestine!” At Jewish Rep. Max Miller | The Gateway Pundit
Aidan Maese-Czeropski
As the Gateway Pundit previously reported, a young male staffer for Maryland Democrat Senator Ben Cardin engaged in multiple graphic sex acts with an older male partner in the Hart Senate Office Building. This has created a massive firestorm online, though the corporate media has not covered the story.
Now, the identity of this staffer has been officially revealed, and his background will raise some eyebrows.
Henry Rodgers, the Daily Caller journalist who first broke the story, confirmed the staffer in question is Aidan Maese-Czeropski. He graduated from college just over three years ago.
Yup.
Read more here: https://t.co/8SkZwupL9J https://t.co/hN2VZ27toM
— Henry Rodgers (@henryrodgersdc) December 15, 2023
According to his LinkedIn profile, Maese-Czeropski works as a legislative aide for Cardin, handling foreign policy, tax, and trade issues. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.S. in Society and Environment in 2020.
Maese-Czeropski has also worked for the Virginia Democratic Party as a field organizer and for the liberal environmental group Friends of the Earth.
The story gets even more interesting, though. Maese-Czeropski is the same individual who shouted the anti-Semitic slogan “Free Palestine!” at Jewish Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) on Wednesday.
Snapshot from the halls of the Hill: a House staffer just passed by GOP Rep. Max Miller —who is Jewish and has been supportive of sending aide to Israel— and said “free Palestine.” Pretty rare and stunning to see staff challenge members to their faces this way.
— Ali Vitali (@alivitali) December 13, 2023
So we have a Senate staffer who engaged in two extraordinary vile acts that have disgraced the hall of Congress, yet he remains employed as of this writing. A Republican staffer would have been fired immediately, and his name would be all over the evening news.
Moreover, it is pretty ironic that Maese-Czeropski supports Hamas because they would have him killed for being gay. This is no different than a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.
Maese-Czeropski also appeared in an ad for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. Don’t count on the so-called president being confronted over this.
Aidan Maese-Czeropski, @SenatorCardin’s staffer taping himself in a sex act in the Senate Hearing Room, was featured in a Joe Biden ad back in 2020 pic.twitter.com/6FRtN3jgg4
— Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) December 15, 2023
Nothing serious will likely happen to this young staffer, either. However, the story would be different if he were protesting election fraud while wearing a MAGA hat.

Adobe faces FTC scrutiny over subscription cancellation policies
Adobe is currently under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission for its allegedly complex subscription cancellation policies. According to a recent report by TechCrunch, this scrutiny could potentially lead to significant financial repercussions for the company.
In a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Adobe disclosed that it has been cooperating with the FTC since June 2022. The investigation focuses on Adobe’s compliance with the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, which mandates straightforward and user-friendly processes for online subscription cancellations.
Challenging cancellation process under investigationThe Act stipulates several requirements for service providers, including a straightforward cancellation process without prolonged procedures, immediate account cancellation upon request, prompt adherence to refund or cancellation policies, and the provision of cancellation options consistent with the method of subscription (e.g., allowing online cancellation if the subscription was made online). Additionally, the Act requires sellers to seek consent before presenting new offers to customers attempting to cancel and to send annual reminders for automatic subscription renewals.
Adobe has faced criticism for its cancellation process, with reports of mandatory phone calls for cancellation and the imposition of early termination fees, practices that deter customers from canceling their subscriptions.
In November 2023, the FTC indicated its authority to negotiate a settlement regarding the investigation. While Adobe maintains that its practices are lawful and is currently in discussions with FTC staff, the company acknowledges the potential for a “material impact on our financial results and operations” if it has to defend its practices or pay fines.
This investigation is part of the FTC’s broader initiative to ensure fair practices in online subscriptions and memberships. In March, the FTC proposed a “Click to Cancel” rule, aiming to make subscription cancellations as easy as the sign-up process. This proposal is an extension of the FTC’s review of its 1973 Negative Option Rule, which targets unfair or deceptive practices in recurring payment programs.
The FTC’s action against Adobe follows a similar move against Amazon in June, where the e-commerce giant was sued for allegedly violating the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act by using “dark patterns” to encourage automatic Prime subscription renewals.
