Gender-Change Promoters Facing New Headwinds for Their Agenda | The Gateway Pundit

This article originally appeared on WND.com

Now market forces are putting the brakes on social contagion

The gender bending ideology, the scientifically impossible concept that males can become females or vice versa, has taken over America in recent years. Joe Biden has made it one of his top priorities to promote this ideology – even to having taxpayers fund it.

Often, leftist courts under the guise of various rights, such as equal rights and health care rights, have adopted the transgender ideology and many have blocked state-adopted limits on those dramatic surgeries, even to children, that leave their bodies mutilated.

But now a new force has surfaced, and it is putting the brakes on the social contagion.

It is the fact that insurance companies, fearful of massive liabilities that could spread years into the future, are reluctant to insure those facilities that provide those surgeries.

A report at ZeroHedge explains that “market forces “can “impose their own powerful form of regulation,” above and beyond any “regulation” that might come from government.

“Happily, we’re beginning to see market forces create a major impediment to the practice of irreparably altering the bodies of confused adolescents,” the report said. “Those forces have emerged in the form of soaring malpractice insurance premiums for clinics that use hormones, puberty blockers and surgeries to address gender-confused children. Many insurers are refusing to offer coverage at any price.”

The report cited the headwinds facing an organization called “The Project of the Quad Cities.”

The report said the Illinois company was ramping up on the border with Iowa, intending to cash in on “Iowa minors who could no longer receive gender-altering services in their own state after they were banned in March.”

Clinic spokesman Andy Rowe told reporters, “I didn’t anticipate that it was going to be a big deal” to obtain malpractice insurance.

Then one insurer turned the company down, And the second. And the third. And nearly a dozen more.

The report explained one willing insurer eventually was found, but the cost, which Rowe anticipated to be around $10,000 at most, actually was $50,000.

The report explained, “Insurers’ mounting unease comes as a growing number of suits are being filed by individuals against doctors they accuse of rushing them — as children — into permanently altering their bodies rather than addressing adolescent angst over puberty.”

One plaintiff is Isabelle Ayala, 20, who sued doctors in her Rhode Island case for being “a collection of actors who prioritized politics and ideology over children’s safety, health, and well-being.”

One defendant allegedly concluded during a single, 60-minute visit she should be given cross-sex hormones, ignoring factors like autism, ADHD and PTSD.

Some states, the report explained, have extended the statute of limitations for such cases from the typical couple of years to “15 years after minor patients turn 18.”

Mike Stinson, of the Medical Professional Liability Association, explained to Time, “If state laws increase the risk of civil liability for health professionals, premiums will be adjusted accordingly and appropriately to reflect the level of financial risk incurred by the insured.”

Among other cases already pending is one against University of Wisconsin surgeons who operated on a woman “without informed consent.”

The woman had “diagnosed herself with gender dysphoria,” a local report said, and the lawsuit now alleges malpractice as well as failure to obtain informed consent, and negligence by the hospital.

Activists have tried to force into state law and regulations the demand that “insurance plans” cover those chemical treatments and mutilating surgeries, and a pair of cases from North Carolina and West Virginia already is creating issues.

At the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Harvey Wilkinson expressed doubt.

“Why can’t a state decide that the money that could have been spent on coverage for transgender-related issues should instead be spent to provide greater coverage for cancer, stroke and heart attack victims?”

The Supreme Court has left unresolved whether deciding against coverage for transgender surgeries amounts to discrimination.

Maine Disqualifies Trump And His Campaign Melts Down

Maine’s Secretary of State has disqualified Donald Trump from the primary ballot and sent his presidential campaign into meltdown.

Maine Secretary of State Disqualfies Trump

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, wrote in her decision of two voter challenges to Trump’s ballot qualifications:

I conclude… that the record establishes that Mr. Trump, over the course of several months and culminating on January 6, 2021, used a false narrative of election fraud to inflame his supporters and direct them to the Capitol to prevent certification of the 2020 election and the peaceful transfer of power. I likewise conclude that Mr. Trump was aware of the likelihood for violence and at least initially supported its use given he both encouraged it with incendiary rhetoric and took no timely action to stop it.

Mr. Trump’s occasional requests that rioters be peaceful and support law enforcement do not immunize his actions. A brief call to obey the law does not erase conduct over the course of months, culminating in his speech on the Ellipse. The weight of the evidence makes clear that Mr. Trump was aware of the tinder laid by his multi-month effort to delegitimize a democratic election, and then chose to light a match.”

On the Gordon challenge, Secretary Bellows said, “There appears to be no dispute between any of the parties that President Biden prevailed over Mr. Trump. Therefore, given Mr. Trump has only won a single election for President, he is not barred from being elected to the same office again under the Twenty-Second Amendment.

I do not reach this conclusion lightly. Democracy is sacred… I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment. I am also mindful, however, that no presidential candidate has ever before engaged in insurrection. The oath I swore to uphold the Constitution comes first above all, and my duty under Maine’s election laws, when presented with a Section 336 challenge, is to ensure that candidates who appear on the primary ballot are qualified for the office they seek.

The events of January 6, 2021 were unprecedented and tragic. They were an attack not only upon the Capitol and government officials, but also an attack on the rule of law. The evidence here demonstrates that they occurred at the behest of, and with the knowledge and support of, the outgoing President. The U.S. Constitution does not tolerate an assault on the foundations of our government, and Section 336 requires me to act in response.

Trump Campaign Responds To Being Disqualified In Maine

The Trump campaign blew a gasket and blamed Biden and Democrats for his disqualification:

The Maine Secretary of State is a former ACLU attorney, a virulent leftist and a hyper-partisan Biden-supporting Democrat who has decided to interfere in the presidential election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden. We are witnessing, in real-time, the attempted theft of an election and the disenfranchisement of the American voter. Democrats in blue states are recklessly and un-Constitutionally suspending the civil rights of the American voters by attempting to summarily remove President Trump’s name from the ballot.

Make no mistake, these partisan election interference efforts are a hostile assault on American democracy. Biden and the Democrats simply do not trust the American voter in a free and fair election and are now relying on the force of government institutions to protect their grip on power.

Trump Tried To Overturn The Will Voters, But Now He Cares About Voter Disenfranchisement

Trump tried to disenfranchise voters in swing states that voted for Joe Biden in 2020. Trump tried to disenfranchise the majority of voters by attacking the Capitol on 1/6, but now that he is being held accountable for his actions, the former president is suddenly concerned about voter disenfranchisement.

The thing is, disqualifying Trump from the ballot is not voter disenfranchisement. Republican voters in Maine will still be able to support any of the remaining Republican primary candidates. Unlike what Trump did on 1/6, removing him from the ballot does not overturn their votes.

Trump should be worried because now that two states have disqualified him, momentum may grow in other places to remove him from the ballot.

Republicans may end up with a nominee who can’t appear on the ballot in every state.

The GOP has set themselves up for disaster and the disqualification movement could begin to snowball on Trump.

Trump Campaign Issues Fiery Response Condemning the Action of Maine Secretary of State to Remove Trump from Ballot | The Gateway Pundit

Maine has become the center of national attention after its Secretary of State, Sheena Bellows, ruled that former President Donald Trump is disqualified from the state’s presidential ballot.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Secretary of State Sheena Bellows made the announcement Thursday, citing Section Three of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies any individual who has engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States from holding office.

The contention lies in the fact that Trump has not been formally charged with any such violation.

Bellows, a former ACLU attorney and Democrat, wrote in her ruling:

I do not reach this conclusion lightly. Democracy is sacred, and the highest court of this State has repeatedly recognized that “no right is more precious in a free country than that of having a voice in the election of those who make the laws under which, as good citizens, we must live.”

I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment.

In response to Bellows’ ruling, Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesman, issued a fiery statement condemning the action as a partisan effort to sway the upcoming election:

The Maine Secretary of State is a former ACLU attorney, a virulent leftist and a hyper-partisan Biden-supporting Democrat who has decided to interfere in the presidential election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden.

We are witnessing, in real-time, the attempted theft of an election and the disenfranchisement of the American voter. Democrats in blue states are recklessly and unconstitutionally suspending the civil rights of the American voters by attempting to summarily remove President Trump’s name from the ballot.

Make no mistake, these partisan election interference efforts are a hostile assault on American democracy. Biden and the Democrats simply do not trust the American voter in a free and fair election and are now relying on the force of government institutions to protect their grip on power.

State courts in Michigan and Minnesota have rejected these bad-faith, bogus 14th Amendment ballot challenges, as have federal courts in New Hampshire, Arizona, Florida, Rhode Island, West Virginia, along with ten other federal jurisdictions. We know both the Constitution and the American people are on our side in this fight.

President Trump’s dominating campaign has a commanding lead in the polls that has dramatically expanded as Crooked Joe Biden’s presidency continues to fail. We will quickly file a legal objection in state court to prevent this atrocious decision in Maine from taking effect, and President Trump will never stop fighting to Make America Great Again.

Trump Responds to Jack Smith’s “Illegal” Court Filing and Attempt to Take Away His First Amendment Right | The Gateway Pundit

President Trump on Wednesday afternoon responded to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s latest court filing and attempt to take away his First Amendment right.

Jack Smith wants to prevent President Trump from blaming provocateurs and undercover agents for the January 6 Capitol riot.

“Through public statements, filings and argument in hearings before the court, the defense has attempted to inject into this case partisan political attacks and irrelevant and prejudicial issues that have no place in a jury trial,” Jack Smith’s 20-page filing said.

“Although the court can recognize these efforts for what they are and disregard them, the jury — if subjected to them — may not. The court should not permit the defendant to turn the courtroom into a forum in which he propagates irrelevant disinformation, and should reject his attempt to inject politics into this proceeding,” Smith wrote according to the court filing reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.

“Evidence about undercover actors holds no probative value here,” Smith wrote.

Trump’s trial date for Jack Smith’s January 6 case is currently scheduled for March 4, 2024.

However, pretrial proceedings are currently on hold because of Trump’s immunity argument in the appellate court. Oral arguments for Trump’s immunity claims will begin in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals on January 9.

Jack Smith ignored Judge Chutkan’s order to stay the case until the DC Circuit Court of Appeals issues a ruling on Trump’s immunity argument and filed the motion on Wednesday anyway.

President Trump attacked Jack Smith for filing an “illegal” motion in yet another attempt to muzzle him and take away his First Amendment right.

“Crooked Joe Biden’s errand boy, Deranged Jack Smith, is obsessed with attacking your favorite President, me, and with interfering in the 2024 Presidential Election, which I am Dominating. Deranged Jack is so Viciously and Desperately Angry that the Supreme Court just unanimously rejected his flailing attempt to rush this Witch Hunt, that he is ignoring the Law and clear instructions from the D.C. Court that this “case” should be stayed, and there cannot be any more filings. Today’s pathetic motion is not just Illegal, it is also another Unconstitutional attempt to take away my First Amendment Rights, and to prevent me from saying the TRUTH — that all of these Hoaxes are nothing but a political persecution of me, the MAGA Movement, and the Republican Party by Crooked Joe and his Despicable Thugs. The Radical Left Communists, Marxists, and Fascists are petrified of me speaking the TRUTH because the American People don’t want them destroying our Country. Make America Great Again!” Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday.

Jack Smith was so angry that Chutkan stayed the January 6 case against Trump that he tried to leapfrog the appellate court with an appeal to the US Supreme Court.

Smith recently asked the US Supreme Court to weigh in on Trump’s immunity claims.

Trump’s lawyers argued that Trump is immune from federal prosecution for alleged ‘crimes’ committed while he served as US President.

“In 234 years of American history, no president ever faced criminal prosecution for his official acts. Until 19 days ago, no court had ever addressed whether immunity from such prosecution exists,” Trump’s lawyers wrote in last Wednesday’s filing. “To this day, no appellate court has addressed it. The question stands among the most complex, intricate, and momentous issues that this Court will be called on to decide.”

The US Supreme Court last Friday denied Jack Smith’s request for a ruling on Trump’s immunity argument.

What to expect from PlayStation in 2024: PS5 Pro, cloud gaming, big exclusives

What to expect from Sony PlayStation in 2024? Where does the mighty PS5 go from here? Will we see a Pro model? How about the exclusive games? Here’s what the next 12 months has in store.

PlayStation had another stellar 2023, with some forecasters saying the PS5 outsold the Xbox by around 5:1.

There were more top first-party games, brand new PS5 Slim consoles, new hardware accessories, and some real towards cloud gaming parity towards Microsoft.

But there’s plenty more to come from PlayStation in 2024.

Save £30 on the 2023 Backbone One for iPhone 15

The Backbone One (2023) is available for for just £69.99 on Amazon. That’s a saving of £30 or 30%. It’s a must-have accessory for iPhone gaming and now it’s compatible with the newest Apple smartphones.

PS5 Pro

I’m not sure whether this is an expectation, a wish, or just fanciful. However rumours of a PS5 Pro console were rife during 2023, with most of them pointing towards a late 2024 release.

That could unlock 4K gaming at 120fps courtesy of Sony’s rumoured proprietary version of Nvidia’s DLSS (deep learning super sampling) that features on the company’s PC graphics card.

Is a PS5 Pro necessary mid-cycle? We’ll have to wait and see.

More to PlayStation Portal

While the reviews of the PlayStation Portal handheld have been largely positive, many have focused on the limited functionality as a PS5 Remote Play device when the potential is much greater. I expect to see that potential fulfilled in 2024.

Sony has already revealed the device can support cloud gaming. I expect it will support cloud gaming in 2024 as part of a broader push to make PS5 games available away from the PS5, as Microsoft has with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

PlayStation PortalPlayStation PortalMore exclusive games

Once again, the PS5 has led the generation in big console exclusives. In the first three months of 2024, the console will welcome Helldivers 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, and Pacific Drive. The Silent Hill Remake from Konami is also expected in the first half of 2024. Another biggie, Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac isn’t expected until 2025. And there’s nothing due imminently from first party studios likes of Naughty Dog (TLOU), Sony Santa Monica (God of War), and Guerilla Games (Horizon).

So, on the whole, this could be a bit of a down year for the big blockbuster exclusives.

Proper cloud gaming

In October, Sony announced some major progress towards making PS5 games available in the cloud. PlayStation Plus Premium members got 4K 60fps HDR game streaming on PS5 consoles as well as streaming of games from the PlayStation Plus catalogue.

Maybe in 2024 we can see cloud gaming become available on PS5 games away from the PS5 console. Right now it’s useful as a way to avoid downloading games, but let’s see Sony liberate those games from the PS5!

REPORT: Lauren Boebert Dropping Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District to Run in 4th District (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert has been facing a tough reelection battle in the state’s 3rd congressional district and in a surprise move has decided to run in a different district.

This decision presents her with a whole different set of challenges.

She will apparently have to go through a primary process against others who want the same job.

RedState reports:

NEW: Lauren Boebert Calls It Quits in Her Colorado District

In a surprise move, Rep. Lauren Boebert announced on Wednesday evening via Facebook that she will not be running for re-election in Colorado’s third congressional district.

The controversial congresswoman was facing an uphill re-election battle and has instead decided to run in the fourth district, which is on the other side of the state. She’s no shoo-in to be the general election candidate there either, with a very crowded primary field awaiting her arrival on the scene.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert announced Wednesday night that she is ditching her reelection bid next year in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District to run instead in the state’s 4th Congressional District, which is on the other side of the state and is far more favorable to Republicans.

Boebert won by just 546 votes last year in the 3rd District, which spans Colorado’s Western Slope into Pueblo and southeastern Colorado. The 4th District is anchored in Douglas County and includes Loveland and the state’s rural Eastern Plains.

The 3rd District leans 9 percentage points in Republicans’ favor while the 4th District leans 27 points toward the GOP, according to a nonpartisan analysis of election results from 2016 to 2020 by staffers for the Colorado legislature. Boebert doesn’t have to live in the 4th District to represent it.

Boebert talks about this in the video below:

I wanted to let you, my constituents and supporters, hear directly from me about my plans for the 2024 election cycle and the importance of maintaining a conservative voice for Colorado in Congress as well as keeping our Republican House majority.

I cannot put into words how… pic.twitter.com/YY5PHS1EJs

— Lauren Boebert (@laurenboebert) December 28, 2023

Hopefully, this move won’t hurt her chances for reelection.

What to expect from Nintendo in 2024: Switch 2, new Mario Kart and Call of Duty?

What to expect from Nintendo in 2024: Might we finally see a new Switch? How about New Mario Kart? And could we see Call of Duty arrive on the Nintendo Switch?

2023 was another great year for Nintendo. The mercurial Japanese gaming company hasn’t seemingly had too many bad ones in its 134-year history. There was no new Switch hardware, with rumours of a Switch 2 or Switch Pro, despite the initial Switch arriving all the way back in 2016.

While we awaited an announcement on a success to the almighty Switch, the console kept selling well and rising to the third best-selling games console of all time.

Nintendo once again let its iconic and ageless first-party franchises do the talking. The long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a raging success, while long-time Nintendo fans also got joyous new side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. Wonder platformer.

In yet another year of disappointing forced annual releases from the Call of Duty, Madden, and FIFA/EA Sports FC stables, Nintendo proved that less is more when it comes to big franchises.

Add to that Metroid Prime: Remastered, the Super Mario Bros. RPG Remake, and Pikmin 4, it really was an excellent year for Switch gamers.

However, 2023 is all but over and Nintendo gamers are already looking to what’s to come in 2024. It promises to be an even bigger year for the Switch-maker, but as everyone knows, Nintendo doesn’t follow anyone’s timescale but its own.

Nintendo Switch 2 announcement

We are expecting 2024 to yield the official sequel to the Nintendo Switch, although it shouldn’t be seen as a given. There’s currently only one new original first party game confirmed for this year (Princess Peach: Showtime) with some remakes also on the slate. That suggests Nintendo is keeping its powder dry for the next-gen releases.

We’d expect plenty more power with a successor to Nvidia Tegra X1 processor and 4K HDR gaming in docked mode. Knowing Nintendo there’ll be some new tweaks to the experience beyond an internal overhaul. Does Nintendo have the cajones to move away from a winning formula after the Wii U upset the apple card?

Our money is on an announcement in the second half of 2024, with a release coming in early 2025, with the promise of some big new Mario games.

More-a Mario

After the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie the plumbers are enjoying a mid-life renaissance. Now the Mario Kart 8 DLC releases have come to an end, we’d expect a Mario Kart 9 announcement won’t be that far behind. And if Nintendo does announce new hardware, you know a new 3D Mario game to succeed the brilliant Odyssey.

Plenty of new Switch games (and remakes)

As we mentioned above, the tentpole 2024 release for the Switch is currently Princess Peach: Showtime. It’s the first time Peach has had her own game since Super Princess Peach that arrived for the DS in 2005. Peach will need to “Fend off the Sour Bunch with sensational swordplay as a swordfighter.” It arrives in March.

Mario vs Donkey Kong comes in February and Luigi’s Manion 2 HD (a remake) arrives in September, while another remake Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door won’t be along until the end of the year. Perhaps we’ll get Metroid Prime 4 too?!

Call of Duty on Switch?

Nintendo was one of several gaming hardware and software providers signing accords with Microsoft to guarantee wide access to Call of Duty games following its takeover of Activision Blizzard. It’s unlikely any new AAA Call of Duty game would run well on the Switch (maybe the successor will be powerful enough?), so that would mean access via the cloud. Nintendo hasn’t really explored much in the way of cloud gaming yet. But an adoption of Xbox Game Pass might be a mutually beneficial arrangement for Microsoft and Nintendo.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Begs Biden for Assistance With Illegal Border Crossers: ‘Entire Country is Now at Stake’ (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson seemed to suggest during recent televised comments that the city of Chicago is at a breaking point due to the influx of illegal aliens in the city.

It’s very easy for someone like Johnson to virtue signal by saying that their city is a sanctuary city, but it’s a whole different thing when the reality of the situation sets in.

It didn’t take very long for Chicago to buckle under the weight of this crisis.

FOX News reports:

Chicago mayor on migrant crisis: ‘Entire country is now at stake’ without significant assistance from Biden

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson warned the entire country “is at stake” if President Biden doesn’t spend resources addressing the migrant crisis that is overwhelming his city.

The progressive leader appeared Wednesday on CNN to talk about the surge of migrants into the sanctuary city. He argued that leaders in his state and around the country need to work together in a more “coordinated” approach that is backed by “significant” financial support from the Biden administration.

Johnson touted his administration’s efforts providing housing, healthcare and schooling for migrant families. However, he admitted the city’s resources were being stretched and needed the federal government’s help.

“What I have worked to do instead of having chaos is provide some structure and calm around the situation and, without significant federal support, this is not sustainable,” Johnson said…

“[W]ithout real significant investment from our federal government, it won’t just be the city of Chicago that won’t be able to maintain this mission; it’s the entire country that is now at stake,” Johnson said.

See the clips below:

RIP – American Comedy Legend Tommy Smothers Passes Away at Age 86 | The Gateway Pundit

Tommy Smothers, the older half of the ‘Smothers Brothers’ comedy duo has passed away. He was 86 years old.

His younger brother Dick is 84 and announced the news on Wednesday. Tommy apparently battled cancer which eventually claimed his life.

In addition to their own variety show, the Smothers Brothers were a staple of television for decades, appearing on countless comedy shows.

The Hollywood Reporter has details:

Tom Smothers, Comedian, Musician and Scourge of CBS Censors, Dies at 86

Tom Smothers, the countercultural comedy icon admired for the 1960s variety program he created and hosted with his younger brother, Dick, and for the tenacity he displayed in frequent clashes with CBS censors, has died. He was 86.

Smothers died Tuesday at his home in Santa Rosa, California, after a battle with cancer, his brother announced in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter by the National Comedy Center.

“Tom was not only the loving older brother that everyone would want in their life, he was a one-of-a-kind creative partner,” Dick, 84, said. “I am forever grateful to have spent a lifetime together with him, on and off stage, for over 60 years. Our relationship was like a good marriage — the longer we were together, the more we loved and respected one another. We were truly blessed.”

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour ran from February 1967 until April 1969, when the pair were fired after 72 episodes (and with their show in the top 10 and already renewed for a fourth season).

What a loss.

NO SURPRISES HERE: Study Finds Less Than 4 Percent of American Journalists Are Republicans | The Gateway Pundit

A new study has found that only 3.4 percent of American journalists are Republicans. Did they really need to do a study to learn this? Also, doesn’t that number seem a little high?

This just confirms what everyone already knew anyway. This is why journalists at political debates often sound like they’re debating the Republican candidate – because they are. They see Republicans as opponents, not just political candidates.

It also explains why almost all of them suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Mediaite reports:

Study Finds That Just 3.4% of American Journalists Are Republicans

A new study from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications found that just 3.4% of American journalists are Republicans.

The study is based “on an online survey with 1,600 U.S. journalists conducted in early 2022” and is the latest in a series of studies stretching back to 1971 that take the temperature of the fourth estate’s partisan lean, job satisfaction, and professional attitudes.

When the first iteration of the study came out over 50 years ago, 35.5% of respondents said they were Democrats, 25.7% said they were Republicans, and 32.5% said they were Independents. The percentage that call themselves Democrats or independents have bounced around over the years, with the proportion of Democrats reaching a high of 44.1% in 1992…

The last iteration of the study before this most recent one, pegged the proportion of Republican journalists in America at 7.1%, the proportion of Democrats at 28.1%, and the proportion of Independents at 50.2% in 2013.
