Vampires drink blood, they’re superior to humans, and they’re sexual Dominants. Every vampire knows those truths. A vampire’s human servant is property, plaything, pawn–and the only living being a vampire can trust. Though she may own him, body, heart and soul, a human servant keeps a vampire from feeling alone in her dangerous, political world. But Kaela has a secret. She’s a vampire with a burning need to submit, to belong to a Master, and definitely not a vampire Master, who will use the advantage for political or emotional domination. But what kind of human male will consent to becoming a vampire’s servant, a 300 year life of utter servitude, to be her Master behind closed doors? An invitation to Eden offers her the chance to discover her elusive hero…and indulge the bliss of surrender.

WOW!! I never saw that coming, never even imagined it. I’ll get back to this but first. . . The Vampire Queen Series was my introduction to Joey W Hill and I know that series inside and out. Joey is amazing with the physical nature of BDSM in her stories but she also uses the psychological side of this lifestyle with expertise as well. Elusive Hero is one of the stories that prove this.
As with most of Joey W Hill’s stories I wanted it to continue. They always seem to short. You would think that statement means this is a bad story. I can tell you it is anything but. She has a knack of writing a totally satisfying story that leaves you wanting more. Giving you the opportunity to use your own imagination to take the characters where you want them to go. At least until we get a visit from them in another story. *wicked grin*
Joey’s vampires are smart, strong, beautiful and very dominant whether born or made, male or female. So when I heard that Kaela Overlord of the California Territory, a made vampire, had a secret I never imagined it would be that one of those traits would be missing. Before Kaela was turned she was a submissive. This is her secret, not that she was submissive but that she still is.
Kaela longs to submit to a Master, not a vampire Master but a human Master. In the vampire world this is a death sentence or worse. She could become a pawn or slave to a more powerful vampire. She has learned to control and hide this from the vampire world. But as we all know you can only control something you desire for so long. When Kaela receives an invitation to the Eden Resort she is torn between risking the chance to embrace her desires or to stay strong and continue to leave those desires behind.
This is where I should tell you a little about our hero Garron. I’m not going to though. Garron is one man/Dom you are going to want to experience the same way Kaela does, one moment at a time.
If you have been reading the Invitation to Eden series you know the island and the resort not only give it’s guests the dreams they desire but have also given our authors a chance to take their characters in a direction they may have only dreamed of. Places we reader never dreamed of.
Enjoy your vacation to Eden!

The honeymoon is over and it’s time for Sam and Ethan to start the rest of their lives together.
Fate has been kind to the couple so far, but can their luck hold out? Is their relationship strong enough to withstand the challenges ahead?
Fasten your seat belts and hang onto your hats for the final installment in the Matte series.
*Supernovel — 142,000 words*
Warning: Sadism involving real pain, f/f fisting, and the use of toys including canes, floggers, belts, tawses, wax, armbinders, plugs, unusual playroom furniture, and the new punishment warned of during The Honeymoon that gives Sam lots of incentive to submit exactly as Ethan expects.

I believe it is completely fair to say, in two spare words: IN. TENSE!
Okay, three words; add ‘epic’ to the mix because this is a long, full, deep, sometimes uncomfortable and always honest conclusion to this Act of Sam and Ethan’s life together.
I expected certain things to happen in this installment. I expected Sam’s court case to wrap up and I expected some, shall we say consequences, from the preamble of this particular arc. I did not expect what did happen, but it fit much better than my idea would have. Good planning, Ms. Blevins. I loved that there was no quick fix, and I really, really loved that medically speaking, the course and the lingo were pretty much spot-on. It rang true and it was skillfully woven with the everyday-life as well as the life-changes that were affecting both Sam and Ethan.
I expected they would pretty much pick up their normal lives upon return from that Honeymoon of Part III. I did not expect the life-changes that came Ethan’s way to involve Sam quite the way it did. And while I’m not generally a big fan of Fighter stories I quite enjoyed, if not he actual fight accounts, the training and strategizing that went into them, as well as the characters introduced because of this segue.
I expected the personal side of the relationship to continue to be explicit and intense. I did not expect my definition of intense to be so challenged. I have to admit to a real stretch in my personal comfort level at times, and yet this book is so skillfully and quite beautifully all about the relationship and what it means in its totality to these two loving, committed individuals. Life is happening around them at a frenetic pace and they deal with it in both recognizable ways, but also in ways that fulfill them as individuals and as a couple. Instead of their lifestyle being the elephant in the room, it truly becomes simply a part of their life and what they need to make it work for them.
Notwithstanding, I can also honestly say that I have encountered a couple of personal “Not-in-this-Lifetimes”, not to mention at least one “Not-ever-in-this-plane-of-existence”!
This book wraps up a foursome of Acts that represent the evolution of a couple, but it certainly also leaves the door open to them being prominent in the lives of more of their friends. I’m looking forward to what the next Safeword (Arabesque) means to Cassie.
I can’t recommend this series enough to open-minded readers as well as those readers looking for a great storyline that also challenges their knowledge and beliefs. Reading doesn’t get much better than this…

Talking Kink n Seduction – Perfect Imperfections
Perfect Imperfections
No matter who you are, odds are you are human which means you cannot possibly be perfect. Whether you are a Dom, a sub, a S/switch or any other label you choose to express yourself, there is no such thing as someone who is Right all the time; Strong all the time; Confident, Eager, Gentle, or any other attribute at every waking moment. From mentor to mentee, Dom’s pass down aphorisms to every new generation of lifestyler that you cannot expect a submissive to be perfect at all times. That sometimes punishments must be meted out, and sometimes extra care must be taken to nurture your sub as they fall apart for whatever reason they have. Submissives don’t always get that message.
Now sit down if this is a shock, but Doms are not always perfect either. If you are a Dom reading this, know that it’s ok to have your own breakdowns. It’s ok to make a mistake, as long as you realize it and try to rectify your wrongdoings when you are able. It’s ok to have a night where you can’t be the Strong one. After all, whether you practice BDSM or not, every relationship should at heart be about partnership. Helping each other. Completing each other in ways that let you operate as a perfect whole. If you are a sub, know that it’s ok to be scared during this. Just hold it together long enough to get your Dom(me) back on their feet and then you can both talk about it. Sometimes your Dom is going to need you to hold them while they cry, and that’s ok too. Every person is different.
I know when my Growling Guru is stressed, when work is bearing down on Him or there’s a family crisis He needs me more than ever to crawl to Him and let him pet me while he works. Or make sure he eats. Or screen his calls. Or just pretend to the world that everything is peachy keen so he won’t be distracted any further. I know sometimes he needs me to drag him away and beg for a scene, not necessarily because I need to feel the sweet sting of our favorite toys, but because he needs to release that part of himself that only comes out to play with the first red blush of a firm downward stroke of his arm. Other times he needs me to leave him quietly, or to have his bed ready for him to lay down, warm and boneless beside me. He needs me to support him against all detractors because everyone needs to know there is someone on their side. He needs me to flirt. With Him, with his friends, with strangers we see together. I know these things because after ten years they are still every bit as true as they were the day we met.
By the same token, I need Him. I need him to show me he loves me by word or deed every day. I need him to care about the little things I do to make both our lives easier. I need him to support my choices and counsel me when I come to him with an issue. I need him to have an open heart and to always make time for me if I need it. I need his rules. I need him to enforce his rules over me as I have agreed to them.
It takes a lot of time and communication to know a lot of these things about your partner. More often than not, you learn them through trial and error which can be painful as well as confusing or scary. All of this builds into a rapport you form together with a foundation of trust, compassion, lust, and energy; if you’re lucky you get to call it Love.
I know this may seem off-topic, but really; what’s more seductive than someone who understands your needs, in and outside the bedroom?

More stories about Roy McMillan—the great love of Tommy’s life whom he lost fifty years ago.
Autumn struggles to keep Great-Pop on this side of death’s door. But how can she compete with the beautiful and mysterious Valley—a place of surreal magic where the sun never fully sets? Especially when there’s someone familiar in the Valley who will do everything he can to keep Great-Pop from returning to her.

This is a quite brilliantly designed and beautifully presented tale of family ties, love through the ages, and coming to terms.
At the heart of it is the fifty year old, ill-fated, life-mate romance of Tommy Johnson and Roy McMillan. Tommy Johnson survives Roy, and to grew to marry and adopt a family. He loves his wife, who is aware of his past love, but is never in-love with her. He had varyingly close relationships with his adoptive children and particularly adored one of his grandchildren, named Autumn. Autumn is probably best characterized as an old soul. They shared secrets and stories and, apart from his wife, Autumn was the only one he ever told about Roy.
As the story begins, Tommy, or “Great-Pop” to Autumn, suffers a severe stroke and lingers first in hospital and then at home. As his life hangs in limbo, so does his soul. Through flash-backs we learn of Tommy and Roy’s tragically interrupted life plans, and of the life Tommy subsequently makes for himself. In the here-and-now, Autumn struggles with the idea of losing Great-Pop in the ways most children would. In her heart she believes she can keep him with her, and in her dreams she conspires against the personal foes of time and place and love long due realization.
Her journey is an emotional one for the reader, in large part because of relatablility, but also because Ms. O’Tierney has created a journey that is at once heartbreaking for all parties, and yet the letting go is curiously comforting. It’s utterly spiritual, in all the best senses of the concept. The tears you cry, and you will cry them, are completely cleansing. Somehow…
A really well done story, but you had better need/want a good cry.

I love it when authors take our favorite fairy tales from our youth and put an adult spin on them. Jess Buffett has given Sleeping Beauty a paranormal m/m makeover that will please your imagination and your heart.
The prologue introduces us to the magical world and characters Jess Buffett has created and sets the stage for this story of magic, danger and romance. She has also added humor and some hot m/m sex the original story didn’t have, bonus! *cues the Disney music* So get comfy and let Jess take you to on an adventure that your inner adult child will enjoy.
On the naming day of the next leader of the Mage Ignis Tribe an unexpected guest shows up with a gift for the young, Aurelius (Zanth). His Great Uncle Malcolm, a Sorcerer, bestows his gift “The boy shall grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know him.” Did I forget to mention Malcolm is an evil Sorcerer? The gift doesn’t stop there. “But, before the sun sets on his twenty-fifth birthday, he shall prick himself on the sharpest of points and fall into a sleep like death.”
In order to protect the next leader of the Ignis Tribe and the future of the Tribe Aurelius is sent away. He has been raised by people he thinks are his Aunts. He doesn’t know who he really is or the world he really belongs to but that is all about to change. Zanth Aurelius is about to turn twenty-five and this is a birthday he will never forget.
This is the second book in the Wickedly Ever After Series by JK Publishing. This series doesn’t need to be read in order.

In a world that’s gone to hell, will you let old fears keep you from the chance at more than just survival?
Blurb:
When Duncan stumbles into a pharmacy in search of something to fix his broken leg, he’s surprised to find someone else there. Like the rest of the post-pandemic world, it appeared empty. Instead, he discovers Mark, a former nurse who walked away from his profession after losing too many patients to the virus. Despite swearing he’d never practice medicine again, Mark patches Duncan up over Duncan’s protests. He even finds an abandoned house in the tiny town, and they settle in until Duncan heals enough to look out for himself. Much to the chagrin of both, they find themselves caring for each other.
Duncan welcomes it, thrilled at finding someone he can trust. However, he’s well aware of the shadows in Mark’s eyes and understands Mark’s reticence as he learns the story. But as he’s starting to do things for himself again, Duncan realizes he doesn’t want Mark to leave. He’s not sure if can get Mark to let go of his fears so they can stay together and love. Excerpt:
He should have known better. Under normal circumstances, it was a stupid move, but right here, right now, “stupid” didn’t begin to cover it.
Duncan glared at his leg for another moment, then leaned his head back against the wall. He needed to keep moving. It hurt like hell, but he had to keep going. It wasn’t going to get better on its own. The gash needed to be cleaned and bandaged, and even if the break wasn’t bad, it should at least be braced. And it wasn’t like he could call an ambulance. Or even go into an emergency room.
Well, he supposed he could go into an emergency room, if he was in the city. But like a lot of other people, he avoided the cities whenever possible. And when it wasn’t, he stayed as far on the edge as he could. But even there, it was a dangerous risk. As corrupt as the cities were now, the price of anything was higher than most could pay. He’d heard rumors that, in some of the worst cities, people simply got shot if they couldn’t pay what the thugs in power wanted. It was all rumor, but rumor he wasn’t about to ignore.
So he did his damnedest to stay away.
He’d been stupid to jump off the ledge. Even at only a couple of feet higher than he was tall, the risk hadn’t been worth it. He’d have thought, after nearly three years, he’d learned how to be more careful and not take those kinds of risks. It wasn’t the first time he’d fallen and hurt himself—though, thankfully, the last one hadn’t involved a broken bone. Maybe it should have; he might have learned his lesson then.
“Really fucking stupid, Dun.”
Duncan steeled himself and pulled to his feet, grimacing when the sharp pain shot up his ankle and through his leg. “Fuck,” he muttered, breathing hard through his nose. When he finally focused past the pain, he looked up and noted the position of the sun, the only real indication he had for the time, and figured he had another good hour or two of light. If he was right about where he was, he wouldn’t need all of it. He tucked the stick he’d found under his arm, grimaced when it dug into the soft flesh, but then leaned on it and hobbled along again.

Two young men, David Stauffer and Matthew Kendricks, meet while processing into the Marine Corps for Basic Training. David is immediately attracted to the red haired, Matthew. As their training begins, David pursues Matthew to find out if the attraction is mutual. To his great pleasure, David learns that his attentions are not unwelcomed, but rather feared. Matthew, unlike David isn’t as comfortable with his fellow trainees finding out he’s gay.
As training progresses David proves himself to be superior to the other trainees. As a reward, he is given a short, on post leave and is allowed to take Matthew with him. This allows them a chance to explore each other’s bodies, rather than just glimpses in the showers.
From that moment the spark between the two burns hot and sets the stage for what is to come. When training ends, questions about their futures arise. Both men are forced to make decisions that will impact their futures, and potentially out them to the entire Marine Corps.

Of late, there are some exceptional romances by male authors, or at least they are finally getting due notice. Because let’s face it, we women have a tendency to be a tad elitist when it comes to “our” genre, as though we alone have a lock on it. Wrong! Witness: “The Marine”, by John Simpson and Robert Cummings.
“The Marine” is short, but on length only. In fact, the lives of USMC recruits-to-Privates, David Stauffer and Matthew Kendricks, span a great deal of time in some 76 pages. Yet in those 76 pages, Messrs Simpson and Cummings manage to do what most women can’t (sorry fellow ladies, but you know it’s true…): they get to the point. They do so with little-to-no undue angst yet with a mighty heart, and a truly warm and wonderful story unfolds in a full and fulfilling read.
David and Matthew’s character backgrounds, which could not be more opposite, are succinctly delivered in a minimum of narrative, leaving the reader to simply be in each moment of their subsequent journey; both as individuals and as heart-mates. And while I was expecting at least a modicum of horror and hate, instead what is primarily a really exquisite love story in a military setting, unfolded quite without major obstacle and culminated in as perfect a HEA as any fiction/romance reader can hope for.
Now lest you think it was all warm and fuzzy on this journey, I can say there is enough real life happening, to be experienced and to be overcome, to more than satisfy both reader-genders. But, in “The Marine” I appreciated the straightforward delivery. It was, refreshingly, not in the least convoluted while being truthfully matter-of-fact. Ah, the workings of the male mind!
And while I’m not a spoiler-reviewer, I do have to go a bit girly, and jump up and down for the hit-it-out-of-the-park ending…Or maybe just fist-pump…Ok, just open a beer and squat in front of the game.
Ooo-rah!
