Another Entry in My Journal 10+

Journal 10+I use a 8.5 x 11 journal called Journal 10+ to track my writing. This one will last me through 2017. It is so helpful to be able to look back at the progress I was making in other years, and I highly recommend it to everyone but especially to fellow authors. I use a different color of ink for each book (A Promise Kept is red; The Heart’s Pursuit is sky blue; my current WIP is lime green) which makes them easy to tell apart at a glance.

Tuesday morning, I wrote this in the journal: “Finished A...

Bye-bye, Google Reader

FeedlyIf you are someone (like me) who has made a habit of reading blogs via an RSS reader, then you are probably aware that Google Reader, the tool the majority (?) of us have been using for eight years, will be no more as of July 1st. Ever since the announcement a few months ago, there has been a spate of blog posts about what we might use to replace that service. I’ve read a lot of them.

For a long while now, I have used the Reeder app on my MacBook, iPhone, and iPad to read the blogs I subscribe...

Some of the Sweetest Words

PencilBeing a novelist sets one up for plenty of rejection. Trust me on this. Because even when a writer sells a book and even when it looks like said writer has had an easy go of it, he or she will still have countless opportunities to be rejected in the future. By reviewers. By readers. By friends. By colleagues. By agents.

Because of those times of rejection, I have learned to savor all the more those wonderful moments when sweet words come my way. On Friday, my editor sent me my line edits for A...

750 Miles!

Remember that line from the movie,Dave? “We’re walking. We’re walking.”750 miles badgeWell, today while walking on the treadmill, Iearned my 750 miles badge on FitBit.

FitBit ZipI have tried more than one kind of pedometer in my effort to move more. I used the BodyMedia arm band for a while, but I kept ripping it off. It made me claustrophobic and irritated my skin. I’ve tried a couple of other brands, too.

But the FitBit Zip is my step counter of choice. The Zip doesn’t count stairs or sleep patterns. It tracks steps...

In Search of a Title

Taking a PollAuthors and editors and marketing departments do not always agree on what makes a good title. Does that surprise anyone?

Get a few authors together and eventually someone will make a joke about writing a book called My Secret Baby Cowboy’s Vampire Pirate Bride in Amish Country. (What do you think? Shall I write it?)

I have an excellent record for titling my WIPs and keeping said titles right through to publication. It isn’t often that I’m asked to change them, but it happens. For the story I’m...

Celebrating the Release of A Bride for All Seasons

A Bride for All SeasonsIt’s just about here! A Bride for All Seasons officially releases on June 18 (the day the ebooks will arrive on your readers), although physical copies of the book are beginning to show up in stores already.

In celebration of this new release, I’m doing another giveaway. Only this time, instead of a copy of the book, I’m giving away a bookstore gift card. You have three ways to enter, and if you want three chances, enter all three ways. It’s fairly easy to do.

I hope you’ll read A Bride for All...

What’s Your Bible Study for the Summer?

Live DeeplyI love reading and studying the Bible. A Christian needs to read/study God’s word daily if he or she wants to live abundantly as we are called to do.

But like most folks, I do better with a plan. If I just think I will get to reading my Bible sometime, days will fly by in all the busyness of life, and suddenly I will realize I’m starving to death in my spirit. I need to commit myself to a study and/or to a reading plan.

I have completed four of the Bible Study Fellowship studies (Matthew, Isaia...

So Happy I Could . . .

Snoopy dance Snoopy dance Snoopy dance

Okay, did you catch my meaning? Snoopy-dancing is called for. Right now. Go ahead and join me. Nobody’s looking. ;-)

A Promise Kept by Robin Lee HatcherI am feeling really, really, really happy! About an hour ago, I finished the revisions of my 69th release (Jan. 2014), A Promise Kept, and the document went winging its way through cyberspace to land on my editor’s computer.

Being done with revisions is a good feeling, in and of itself. However, I feel extra good because I love this story so much. Often, by the time I’m done with r...
