Christian Fiction Wednesday

I love to help readers find books by the many wonderful Christian fiction writers I’ve come to know through the years. I can’t read them all, but I can at least tell others when a new book is out. Here’s the latest offering.

Inspiration and Epiphanies

[image error]I was in at the doctor’s this morning for my annual physical, and after she heard about my piled-up deadlines, she asked about inspiration. I basically told her my inspiration comes from the need to pay the mortgage. Paying the rent and utility bills and buying groceries have long been the source of inspiration for writers. I learned long ago that ideas begin to flow after I get my fingers moving on the keyboard. If I waited for them to strike first, I would never get anything written.

But I m...

E X H A U S T E D

I finished the “polishing” stage on Book #69 (not telling the title just yet) on Thursday afternoon. When I opened my Mail program to send it to my editor, in came an email from a different editor who was sending me the typeset pages of Beloved (Book #68) which need to be proofed and returned by May 16. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I have major revisions on a different book (#70) that are due on May 15.

Are My Heroines Really Me?

[image error]I get asked the question in the title of this post a lot. And to some degree, the answer is yes. I am in all of my characters, not just the heroines. After all, they come out of my imagination and my experiences and my research.

But it is more true that my characters are very much individuals and often very different from me, even in those stories where I’ve used my life as inspiration. It is a wonderful moment in the creation of a book when a character takes on a life of her own. I love it wh...

There’s a Reason They Call Them “Deadlines”

[image error]Sunday night, I reached the end on my contemporary novel that will release in January of 2014. Sunday is normally my day of rest, but sometimes a book doesn’t cooperate and extra writing time must be grabbed wherever available. Today I’ll be busy proofing and polishing and getting ready to send it to my editor. And once it is sent, I have to hit the ground running on major revisions on my next historical. Those revisions are due much too soon. And then I need to start a novella. Ack!

Am I havi...
