St. Louis is not just a jaunt down the road for us. Driving straight through without detours, it is 180 miles to the edge of the city and takes a little over three hours.

{Our Story} Our First Logbook

We recently did a little furniture rearranging and moved all the toys into one smaller area to keep them contained. As we did, I began going through them to find missing pieces, box some up for consignment and get everything organized.

We have one tub that has “medical” supplies including a Fisher Price doctor kit and a variety of diabetes supplies that are used to treat various people, dolls, and stuffed animals.

As I was going through this d-stash, I browsed the stack of logbooks to recycle a...

D-Mom Blog Survey 2013: Would Love Your Input (Giveaway!)

At the beginning of each year I like to take stock, regroup, and take a look ahead. I’ve been formulating my blogging plans for the year and I would greatly appreciate your input into the direction and features for D-Mom Blog in 2013.

In 2012 I was so busy writing Kids First, Diabetes Second that I felt I had to stop the “Meet and D-Mom/Dad” and “Type 1 Tuesday” features. But now that things have settled down, I am happy to bring those back if there is an interest.

I’m completely open to ideas!...

Dealing with diabetes definitely has its highs and lows…literally!

Included in our arsenal of low blood sugar treatments is GlucoLift. Q likes GlucoLift because they taste pretty good and I like them because they aren’t made from a bunch of junk. Not to mention that company owner Christopher Angell...

In honor of the third anniversary of D-Mom Blog, I’m happy to give away some of the items that are instrumental in our daily diabetes care. Come back each day this week for a new giveaway. Good luck!

When Q began using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) this year, she needed a way to carry it. (Her OmniPod insulin pump PDM stays in her supply bag, so she doesn’t carry it on her person every day.) Amy, the very sweet owner of the aptly named shop Too Sweet Boutique, made Q the most perfect glit...

WDD Cupcake

Q was diagnosed over four-and-a-half years ago with type 1 diabetes. Shortly after, I began sharing our story on my then “mommy blog.” As my community of people I looked to in the DOC grew and my content expanded, I moved to this space and founded D-Mom Blog, with it’s first official post being on...
