Book Perfumes Are A Thing!

Small glass perfume bottle lying on white cloth background, surrounded by small green leaves and stalks of unopened flower buds.

Randomly came across this the other day – a collection of perfume companies making book-related perfumes! When I say book related, I don’t just mean, like, character themed or whatnot. I mean companies that actually made perfumes that smell like books.

I don’t know. Is that too much? I feel like it might be a little too much. I LOVE the smell of books (and bookstores), don’t get me wrong – just one of the many reasons I’m still not sold on ebooks – but actually personally smelling like one?...

Made-It Monday: Harry Potter Birthday Cake

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

Another cake order this week, this time for a Harry Potter birth...

Speaking of Dreams…

Since dreams seems to have been the theme this week, I thought this would be relevant. It’s also kind of a theme song of mine, I guess: it resonates pretty hard.

Enjoy

What inspiring things have you found on the internet this week?

And… Breathe

Feeling a little floaty today. I’m what, nearly five weeks into the new job now? And today’s the first time I’ve had a moment where I could sit back and sort of go – oh, okay. I’m mostly up to date.

It feels… Odd.

Because in the last month, I’ve pretty much had to let go of writing and publishing stuff in order to navigate the new job (well, not entirely, I had a bunch of deadlines for Stand-In Hearts at the end of Jan, but that was a good 2-3 weeks ago now and feels like forever?), and eve...

Don’t Break yourself On The Way To Your Dreams

Go read this great post by Ilona Andrews. It’s called Lazy Sunday, and it’s nothing especially deep and meaningful, except that on the other hand it also kind of is.

See, when you’re working hard at achieving your dreams, you have to shoehorn them into any spare time you have, learning to make do on naught but air and a few blinks of sleep. It’s not a great way to live, it’s uncomfortable and exhausting, but you tell yourself that it’s only for a limited time period, it’s only until you get...

Art’s Your Product, Not Your Self

I needed this reminder. It’s been seven or so months since I worked on a novel, and restarting after so long is pants-wettingly terrifying. What if I’ve forgotten how to do it? What if it’s all crap? Why am I doing this anyway when I already have a full-time job and more items on my to-do list than I can handle?

Oh yeah. Right. Because making art is fun when you remember it’s just a thing you made and not a ruler by which to measure the worth of your soul.

Cool. Yeah. Right. I remember that...

Moar Tiny Dancers

This one popped up when I looked up last week’s video on YouTube and ermagersh, just as cute as the last one. This tiny tot popped up on stage when her mum got through the So You Thing You Can Dance auditions, and of course the judges put on some music for her and let her do her thing.

That squishy sound you hear is my heart melting

So: what adorable things have you found online this week?

Sick

The brain, she is the dedz.

Miss 3 went back to daycare/preschool two weeks ago after 6 or 7 weeks off, and the rest of us went back to school – to *new* schools, as a matter of fact. Welcome, whole new germ pool. >.<

Consequently, at least 50% of the family is ill right now. My brain is quite mushy, tbh.

Usually, I’d be able to blather on here long enough for something vaguely cohesive to emerge. I unt fink ats gonna happen today tho. Soz.

*drinks water*
