Me + Maths = Making Maths Teachers Crazy Since 19-Somethingsomething
This is literally how I do maths. I tried explaining it to my Year 5 or 6 teacher (I forget which but I think it was Year 6) and he nearly died at me.
What’s 26 – 18?
Well, you need 2 more to get from 18 to 20, and 2 + 6 is 8, so… 8!
Him: *ded*

(Also I had the same maths teacher for Year 7, 8 and 9 by coincidence. My Year 7 report read s/thing like, Amy is a delight to teach. Year 8 report? S/thing like, Amy is a diligent, wonderful student. Year 9? I quote: “Amy is a disruption in class....

Hello, I Am Alive…
…If somewhat tenuously. Gluten sucks. Like, even more than I thought. Because I came off it slowly, a bunch of symptoms disappeared that I didn’t even realise were gluten-related. And now that I am back on the gluten hard-core, as it were, the symptoms are all piling back on, and eww ick gross. Basically.
So you know. I’m here, I’m around, I’m alive. Just lacking in cogency and synthesis and general brain-thinky powers. Woo.

Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

Holiday Reading Challenge: 7 Books in 14 Days
Last year was one of my slowest reading years for quite a while. I’m not surprised, given the frenetic pace, but it’s something I’m fixing this year, not least because my brain is threatening to melt and I really just need the recharge time.
So, this school holidays, I decided to do a mini challenge and attempt 7 books in the two weeks of the holidays. I usually average a book a week throughout the year, peaking in holiday periods, so it’s not a massive stretch but on the other hand it’s eno...

Sporadically Banned From The Internet Because: Gluten
The sitch: New GP.
Went in to ask for a script thingy (words are hard) for my annual thyroid blood test, because I realised I’d forgotten to do that in January. My usual GP is the kind who a) costs money and b) is booked out 6-8 weeks in advance, so I decided to use the centre a couple of blocks down the road because a) free and b) easy to book in.
It’s a GP I’ve seen a few times before when both a) and b) applied. This time, he wanted my whole medical history (including doing the weight an...

Apparently I Am Mathematically Challenged
It’s the first, or at least it was here yesterday and is now in some parts of the world, and that means another Inklet is appearing into the world.
For people who *can* count, you’ll note that by now, it should be Inklet #7. Two for Jan, two for Feb, two for March… Yes, we are up to number 7.
Spoiler alert, it’s not #7 releasing right now. It’s #8.
There *is* a reason for this. The current #7 is Liana Brooks’s story Seventy, and I had this Thing about Seventy being better as #7 than #8 bec...
