Fannish Things
Got my “congratulations, you survived gluten!” present-to-self in the mail last night. Yay!

The Impressions You Leave Behind You
My Nana passed away in the night.
I wasn’t extremely close to her, so I’m more grieving for my mum’s sake, but regardless, I am sad.
On the way in to drop my son off to school this morning, it was raining. The ground was wet.
On the way back out, I noticed a set of footprints, clear and distinct, leading into the school.
Mine, I supposed, but I’d need to check the soles of my shoes to be sure.

MICE SING.
So apparently a wider variety of animals than we might expect actually sing what can technically be termed songs. (Songs are longer than cries, contain a lot more syllables, and happen regularly.) The most surprising one for me, as per that article linked to in brackets there, is MICE.
Yup, you read that right: Mice. Sing.
More specifically, male mice sing in order to find mates, and they do it at ultrasonic frequencies – too high for human hearing.
