Look, Apparently It’s Harry Potter Week And We’re All Going To Be Okay With That
In sharp contrast to our man Draco of the last two days, I present to you one of the many, many reasons that Snape is a jerk:

See, unlike Draco, Snape is now what we call a ‘legal adult’. Wait, there’s a quote from the queen herself about this…

Yes, Draco is approaching maturity in the later books. He’s not unproblematic. Acknowledged.
But Snape has been a fully-fledged adult for several decades, and unlike Draco, who, as an adult, tries to redress some of the wrongs that were done and r...

A Draco Addendum
Literally nothing I said yesterday is mutually exclusive with this, just saying.

Yes. He does crappy things because he wants to make his parents proud. Agreed. See: yesterday. Hmm.
(Also, noting that he is redeemable, or that he COULD have been nice if things had been different, is a long way from claiming that he current is nice as written. He is problematic. Intensely so. That’s literally the point.)

It’s Not That Draco’s A White Boy: Theories On Why The Fandom Persists In Liking Draco
The fan attraction to Draco isn’t “white boys always get forgiven”. It’s the slightly gut-chilling recognition that “there, but for the grace of God, walk I”; the knowledge that, with the wrong parents, in the wrong time, in the wrong place, many of us could BE that person. It’s the recognition that our start in life shapes and defines us in so, so many ways, and that the dream we all have, the semi-lie we’re all told, that we can transcend our birth and be anything we want to be… that this m...

Made-It Monday: ALPACA!
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
So, I’m kind of claiming this one even though I only kind of mad...

Translator Fails: Give UP, Give UP!
OMG this woman is amazing, and she can SING.
So, she and some friends had the idea to run famous works of literature and also song lyrics through several layers of Google Translate. The results are about as accurate (and sometimes hilarious) as you’d imagine, but it gets even better, because this incredible human then goes on to actually SING the new lyrics to Frozen’s Let It Go (hilariously translated as ‘Give Up’), and wow. Just, wow. Her voice. A++. She is amazing.
(I found this because...

Cover Reveal!
I don’t have a blurb for it yet, so expect that out next week, but in the meantime, here’s the cover for the new forest book, Dreaming of Forests!
It’s been drawn to my attention that ‘pleasant’ is morphing away from its traditional dictionary definition in US English, so I’ll probably tweak the tagline a little to reflect that, but anyway: COVER! NEW BOOK! YAY!!!!!

Dreaming of Forests will be out mid-July, and preorders should be up late next week/by the end of the month.
Woohoo!

Whee-hee, I Finished Another Book!
Gluten still sucks, but it seems that small updatey posts are a Thing I Can Manage, so yay? Here we go?
Anyway, I finished the latest book on the weekend, so that’s exciting, especially since writing is vey hit-and-miss this year. This one started out as a probable short story, but I was writing without an outline so I just… followed the story along, I guess, and it ended up a lot longer than I thought :’D
For those of you following along with Inkprint Press titles, this one’s almost exactl...

Introducing Gluten Girl???? (aka Gluten + Anxiety = Wheeee!!)
6 weeks into this gluten-consumption rubbish and the anxiety is whirling. On the one hand, boo hiss this totally sucks. On the other hand, at least it’s concrete evidence that gluten is responsible, and suggests that managing anxiety will be much easier in the future once I’m allowed to go back off gluten? (2 weeks+ pending blood test results, NOT THAT I’M COUNTING.)
In the meantime, whenever the anxiety and obsessive thought-loops rear their head, I’m coping by saying things like, “Shut up,...
