Please Don’t Give Up

A repost, because apparently I needed it this week. Thanks, Past!Amy. Thanks.

From 16 March 2015.

There are days when you just want to wash your hands and quit humanity. You know the kind. Maybe someone (or a whole host of someones) was rude to you; maybe people were petty or spiteful or jealous or rude. Maybe the news is a nightmare, with people taking advantage of everybody else, with the powerful lording it over the under-powered, with other people not caring or people whose opinion you...

I GOT PRETTIES IN THE MAIL

In the midst of all the icky squick that is my life rn, a wonderful, glorious bright spot: the proof copy of Dreaming of Forests arrived along with the proof copy for the final Inklet – #22, so there’s a while yet, but I want to get 2019 signed, sealed and delivered.

Hopefully I’ll find a gap between marking in the next week or maybe over the long weekend to proof Forests so the print preorder can go up soon :3

In the meantime, yay pretty books to look at!!

Yay, Another Inklet!

This month’s Inklet (#11, whoa we are like into double digits) is a twisty little epilogue to the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. There’s a dark twist, but it has a happy ending

It is, however, really, really short – it’ll be the shortest Inklet ever, because moving into 2020 (the 2019 line-up is all done and set now), stories this short will be bundled into double issues.

Springtime promises hang in the air. And Red wants her happy ending—no matter what her mother might have said.

No ma...

Made-It Monday: Unicorn Cake

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

Quick lil unicorn cake this time for the family birthday girl, w...

“In Summation, Please Take Care Of Yourselves”.

So, I’ve been exploring Malinda’s two YouTube channels after finding those fab videos from last week and the week before, and a few days ago, I came across this:

Malinda challenged herself to not look at herself/use a mirror for 5 days. The results are… Look, you just really need to watch the video, okay? Please. Take a few moments out of your day to watch it.

I’ll end the same way she did, because there’s really no other way to do it: in summation, please take care of yourself.

You’re the...

A Shower Addendum

Because my mum was horrified that my shower could have been *that* *dirty*, I felt like I should clarify… This was AFTER cleaning the shower. The whole thing was gloriously clean and probably still smelling vaguely of chemicals, or I (hopefully needless to say) wouldn’t have been sitting on the floor. I’m not usually in the habit of sitting my bare naked bum down on surfaces with questionable hygiene

Oh, This Is The Grossest Shower, Oh, This Is The Grossest Shower

WHHHOOOOOAA-OOAAAAA
*rain sounds*
AAHHHH, AAAAAHHH-AAAHHHHRRRGGG
*it’s a shower*
WHHHOOOOOAA-OOAAAAA
*there’ll be screaming*
AAHHHH, AAAAAHHH-AAAHHHHRRRGGG
*but for now, you’re just sitting there innocently on the floor, naked, because that’s how you shower*
WHHHOOOOOAA-OOAAAAA

Ladies and peeps, this is the story you’ve waited for
AAHHHH, AAAAAHHH-AAAHHHHRRRGGG
You’re sitting in the shower, your sweat washing through the floor
AAHHHH, AAAAAHHH-AAAHHHHRRRGGG
‘Cause buried in your bones, t...

Dying Of The Death (And Lack Of Oxygen)

So I had the fun experience the other day of going in for a routine check of my thyroid (which was irradiated back in 2014, woot radioactive girl!*) and getting the results, which were, essentially, “Hey, your thyroid’s GREAT but LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE IS BROKEEEEENNNNN”. *eyeroll*.

* So after the radiation therapy, I had to stay at least a meter away from everyone for like 4-7 days (I forget exactly) and afterwards wash all my sheets and clothing really meticulously. While I was in the r...
