The Pros And Cons Of English Teaching (A Timely Repost)
Stumbled across this April 2014 post in the archives on the weekend, and given I’ve just started back for the 2019 teaching year, and at a new school too, I feel like this was timely.

Updatery Updates of Updatingness
Oops. Didn’t realised I hadn’t blogged basically all of last week. The last two weeks have been a bit of a mess, sorry, emotionally and mentally speaking. Anyway. They’re gone, they’re over, and now we’re moving on

Made-It Monday: A Kitten, And Your Opinions Please?
Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!
So, I’m making all these sketches for the Inklets, and some of...

Ouch :\
Depression hitting hard today. Nothing specific, just existential dread about the state of everyday reality and humanity, and missing being *with* people not just bodily, but in action and purpose.
If you have happy memes or cute pictures or whatever, I’d be grateful. For now, I’m losing myself in Unstable Unicorns (because the artwork is just so adorable) and scabbing a lot of extra hugs from my husband.
I’ll be fine. It’s just taking time to readjust. And it’s challenging to think about w...

I’m Back, Culture Book Is Out, And Thoughts On Burnout
I’m back from two weeks away essentially without internet, and I need to talk about that. But first, I’ll do that thing that I ‘should’ do, which is announce that How To Create Cultures is now out and available everywhere in ebook – print release has stuck to the original date of the 17th, so that’ll be out in another week.
Print preorders should be floating around sometime in the next few days – I had a problem loading the final proofed file to the printers right before Christmas, and then...

More Slow Progress
I have topics I want to blog on, but this is not a great week for writing long posts since I am scrambling to get my impossible deadlines met before Christmas.
Today, though:
Finished a play mat for the Etsy store (and promptly put the store into holiday mode, ha). Shopped for cellophane and post bags for said mat, as well as Sushi Go! Party (which I was introduced to at work last week and it’s fantastic fun, and I’m collecting some board games to play with my quality-time-requiring seven-y...

PHew. (Also, Buy Create Cultures for $5 Off)
I’m in the middle of a big, chaotic week here as I frantically try to wrap up all these deadlines before Christmas. But the first 12 Inklets went off for their final-final round of proofreading last night, and today–just now in fact–I’ve finished typing up and then uploading the proof corrections for this baby:

Which means that the print copy will be up for preorder in the next 24-48 hours at all your favourite online retailers
