Read Only Wednesday - The Colchester IDS by Charlotte Deallie #scifi

Read Only Wednesday is when I talk about a book I've just read, am about to read or have added to my TBR pile. This week it's The Colchester IDS by Charlotte Deallie.

I was directed to this book by a friend because I actually live in Colchester, and I've been talking a lot about writing an urban fantasy set in my home town. Normally I don't pick up contemporary Earth scifi - I tend to find it dull. I want spaceships and/or aliens, or lots of cool tech. But this is free, and one of the reviews...

Meet the #Author Monday - Ian Smith #debut #contemporary #romance @ians2005

Please tell us a bit about yourself:
I'm a professional scientist and live in the south-west of England with my wife, our two horses, two dogs, and three guinea pigs. We’d like to keep chickens, too, but it might be a bit tricky in a small urban garden with two hyperactive terriers
My education was obviously science-based. I've always been a keen reader - thrillers, science fiction, fantasy, horror, a few classics, and even some romances. But I'll admit not much of it was "literature".
I've writ...

#ScienceFiction Fantasy Saturday #86 - Meet Tyra-Lee #scifi #romance #spaceopera #sale

A Science Fiction Romance Novel
Goodreads | WebpageWith Halloween out the way, and the release of Keir's Fall - Book Two in the Redemption series - imminent...well, ish...I'm going to share a never-before-revealed snippet. This is the first meeting with the seductive tyrant of the book's tagline - Tyra-Lee. I'm going to admit to being a little in love with her, even if she is the villain of the book.

Tyra-Lee gazed at the holographic image filling the thirty-foot expanse of her...

The SFRB Showcase - Never Wake A Sleeping Redhead #scifi #romance #spaceopera

Hello! Welcome to this month's SFRB Showcase. I'm so excited to finally be able to share some snippets from my long overdue sequel to Keir - Keir's Fall, book two in the Redemption series. It's been a long time coming, and especially as I've really struggled with the edits this past month. But release is imminent, so today I'm sharing a scene from near the start of the book (and slightly after the opening excerpt posted in the back of Keir). The hero has just returned from a fishing trip, but...

Read Only Wednesday - The Crystal Singer trilogy by Anne McCaffrey #scifi #romance

Read Only Wednesday is when I highlight a book I've just read, am reading, or have just added to my TBR list. In this case, I'm revisiting an old favourite as a treat for finishing some very rough edits. I read the original back in my teens and bought the subsequent books as they came out, but somewhere along the line I've lost them all. So I bought myself a second hand paperback of the trilogy so I could enjoy them all over again. (I find the cover quite disturbing as that pose looks back br...

Six Months Ago Today...

...my main publisher closed, taking five of my titles and my confidence with it. I closed my blog, made some tough decisions, and threw myself into getting four of those titles, plus the planned re-release of my debut novel Keir, back up within the month. I did it. It was hard, but I did it.

#ScienceFiction #Fantasy Saturday - Welcome to the afterlife! #FREE #YA #zombie #paranormal

Welcome to a Halloween edition of #sffsat! To celebrate the spooky holiday and all things supernatural, my YA zombie novella - Restless In Peaceville - is free for the 30th and 31st of October, a story that my editor described as 'adorable'. Yep, that's not a typo! Apparently she's even been reading it to her 8th grade students, who were loving it. So today I'm sharing part of the opening, where my young hero has found himself standing in a long line of people in a huge gray hall stretching t...

#Free Days - Restless In Peaceville #YA #zombie #paranormal

Because it's Halloween, I've decided to put my YA zombie novella - Restless In Peaceville - up for free at Amazon for a couple of days. Seems kind of appropriate, being as it's a zombie book and a Halloween zombie walk actually takes place about halfway through the story. To check it out on Amazon, simply click on the link below the book cover. Happy Halloween!
