Author! Author! Blog Bounce

Omnific Publishing Blog Bounce

Omnific Publishing Blog Bounce

Omnific Publishing is sponsoring a Blog Bounce so I thought I'd participate. While I am still figuring out this whole blogging notion, I do find it highly gratifying to be able to interact directly with readers. I used to wish to be able to talk to some of my favorite authors back in the old days before email and the Internet.

Anyway, happy reading and happy Thursday.

The Feminist Submissive

As I've attempted to better educate myself in the world of BDSM so that I can write authentically, I've begun to read and follow many bloggers who are actual BDSM practitioners. I've noticed a recurring theme in some of the bloggers I follow who are submissives that, frankly, I'm not sure I understand. They seem to be apologizing for betraying the feminist ideal. On the contrary, I think submissives epitomize exactly what feminists were fighting for, the right to choose your course in all...

Review – Becoming sage by Kasi Alexander

Become Sage cover

Becoming sage

When Ms. Alexander first asked me to review her book, I was thrilled. I'd wanted to read Becoming sage and had it on my wish list. To have Ms. Alexander personally request that I review the book simply made my day. I responded with an immediate and emphatic yes. It was only after I received the book from Ms. Alexander's publisher that I began to fret. What if I didn't like it? Having agreed to the review, I was now ethically bound to be completely honest. As a general rule, I...

BDSM … Woven into the American Tapestry?

Yesterday, I was driving with the family to Kroger to pick up some snacks when I see a billboard for a local jeweler that read, "If you dream it, Danny will build it." For reasons only my subconscious can answer, this made me think of BDSM collars and how they can be made to look like jewelry. Which further led me to wonder, how else is BDSM woven into the tapestry of our everyday existence so that it is hidden in plain sight?

What's he open to?

We have a long tradition of hiding in plain...

BDSM Normal or Not?

I was re-reading my posts, something I tend to do since I've been known to screw up my commas and miss a word here and there, and I came across this statement in my post Choosing a Dominant for Submission … "normal vanilla relationship." In retrospect, I have to wonder at this Freudian slip. Yes, I was absolutely raised that anything remotely BDSM-like was abnormal and deviant. That it was the kind of behavior that got you sent straight to hell. I was raised by a Southern Baptist mother who m...

Craving BDSM …the Ultimate Absolution?

Does the fact that someone is craving a BDSM lifestyle and finding themselves unfulfilled in a vanilla relationship inherently absolve them of infidelity? This concept bothered me since I read a story yesterday. For the record, I don't believe in trashing books just because they didn't sit well with me or I didn't like the story. This story was well written and engaging … I just have a philosophical issue with an aspect of it. I'm not going to mention the title, again because I don't believe ...

Anonymous Intimacy

I was talking with my guy the other day as we drove about how I find the Internet to be extremely intimate … after a fashion. What I marvel at is how I witness and participate in very intimate conversations with complete strangers whom I know next to nothing about other than their avatar picture. Very often, the meat of these conversations involves topics that I would not be comfortable speaking about in person with someone whom I knew nothing more about than the clothes they wear.

For...

Today

Today is my birthday. I'll refrain from mentioning my age other than to say that I'm old enough to consider it impolite to ask and yet think it complimentary to be carded. That being said, this almost feels like my first birthday. Maybe that's because, this is the first birthday I'm celebrating where I feel like I'm walking the path that I determined for myself and not the one I let life choose for me.

In the last year:

I walked out of a very lucrative job as an executive to become a writerI...

Submission and the Path to Happiness

After starting this blog, I've had a few interesting people come to visit and I've visited their sites in return. One in particular, Sweet Servitude of Master's Treasure, is fascinating. Hispreciouspet is the author and she is in a Master/slave relationship with her husband who also has a new blog, MasterofHisPet. I've interacted with them through comments and have read their blogs and not only are they welcoming and a wealth of information, the love between the two of them practically leaps ...
