BDSM: No Definition Needed

BDSM Equation GraphicI recently read a thread on Fetlife in the BDSM Theory group about how D/s has taken over BDSM and it now defines BDSM as a whole. The basic complaint that the initiator of this thread had was that the perception of the lifestyle was becoming homogenized into strictly dominance and submission. As an outsider looking in, I don't agree in the least.

I have heard many explanations of what the acronym is supposed to stand for, but the one I was taught initially was Bondage, Discipline...

Dogs, Hot Sex and a Giveaway

In honor of Writing Wednesday, I'm expounding on my  use of Pitbulls in my writing. I am, also, however, giving anyone who wants one a free copy of my novella Coming Out of Her Shell.

The Canine Barometer

A canine character probably doesn't seem very appropriate to erotica on the surface. After all, we aren't talking Tango & Hooch or Beethoven where loveable and quirky canines are the hero of the story and the foil for the main human protagonist. We're talking erotica, and in my particular...

Just because I feel like it…

I'm not at all motivated to work this morning, so I'm jumping on the bandwagon two days late for Sunday Stealing after reading another blogger's post…

41. What is a quote that you love?

I'm a quote maven. I love them, so it's hard for me to confine this to just one. I have two that I use regularly:

"We are bound by the law, so that we may be free." – Cicero. This one has taken on new meaning for me since being exposed to BDSM.

"A dwarf on a giant's shoulders sees the further of the two." –...

Monday Mayhem

So ….  my computer died and I suffered extreme writing withdrawal all weekend long. I finally got a new computer and am back in action, but have nothing for the blog and got two new projects dumped in my lap due Friday at the 9-5. Therefore, in honor of my personal mayhem, I've decided to participate in Monday Mayhem rather than leave the blog empty until Wednesday.

1. What should you never wear to a job interview?
In my personal opinion, never wear a short skirt to an interview. The skirt...

The Surrealistic Fetlife

Fetlife Badge

Fetlife Badge

About a month ago, I signed up to Fetlife. I figured where better to find out more about BDSM and kink than a community of kinsters and BDSM practitioners. I have been in there pretty regularly and met some very nice people and even have a few friends I'm now in regular communication with. However, I find it to be a very surreal experience at times. At Fetlife, your fetishes are almost a badge of honor. Sometimes, I have this weird vision run through my head whenever I check out ...

Daily Soundtrack

After writing my post on music, I thought it might be fun to post my daily soundtrack, i.e., the song I wake up to. I generally wake up to one every day. I spend those first waking moments trying to put it into the context of my life in order to see where I'm at mentally. It's generally just a lyric or two.  This morning it was Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory" specifically, "I'm on the edge of glory/and I'm hanging on a moment of truth" … I've been doing a lot of soul searching and have come t...

Music: The Roadmap of a Character's Psyche

For Writerly Wednesday ….

As a writer, I often make use of subtle devices to add layer and dimension to the story without beating the reader over the head with it. For instance, I have always have Pitbulls in the stories I write. Animals are very intuitive regarding a person's energy, so they serve as a great barometer for the morality and motivation of a character. Another device that I often use is music.

In my own life, I often find songs running through my head. A long time ago I realized t...

Mainstream BDSM

I found this photograph of a sculpture by Tom Otterness by Akbar Simonse at Flickr while looking for a picture for a project. What I love about this is that this is clearly public art, but it's depicting bondage. Wish I knew where it was!

Applause For E-Book Eros

Applause For E-Book Eros.

Please, please, please read this and weigh in at Eros. A book glorifying pedophilia has been published and they are putting it out to their customers on whether or not to sell it.

While I support free speech and a kinky life, I do not support pedophilia in any form and have put my stance against this book on record. I hope you'll join me.

The author is portraying pedophilia as a valid fetish which I disagree with completely since informed consent is impossible in this c...

My Inclinations to BDSM

Okay, so life happened in an ugly way this weekend and I just don't have my usual post in me, but rather than leave the blog hanging, I've decided to post the results of a few fun quizzes I took last week. The first is from Quiz Farm and is called Do You Have An Inclination for BDSM? My results were:

Experimental 89%

Bondage 68%

Submissive 61%

Masochist 57%

Switch 54%

Sadist 36%

Exhibitionist / Voyeur 36%

Vanilla 29%

Degradation Lover 29%

Dominant 7%

I don't agree with some of this. I don't...
