Parents’ shock as teacher Judy Buranich turns out to be erotica author Judy Mays | Mail Online.

These parents are now giving this woman an ultimatum … teach or write. Apparently, you can’t do both. Maybe we should we begin asking parents not to fuck until their children are 18 years of age because if they choose to do something they have a right to do, their children automatically are too stupid to do anything other than emulate it. No need to parent their children or anything.

Clearly, I’m dis...

Setting the Record Straight

Yesterday evening I wrote a post about how Ms. Alexandra from Livros por todo o lado wrote a negative review ofHis Gift. My post indicated how I had difficulties reading the review because it was in Portugese (I mistakenly indicated Spanish initially). I wrote on how I was going to write a snark filled post about the experience of not being able to read the review. At least, that is what I thought I was saying.

Apparently, it came off that I was going to take Ms. Alexandra to task for writing...

My Bitch Card Has Been Revoked

For the vast majority of my life, I’ve been able to turn on my “Bitch” at a moment’s notice. She was always in my back pocket ready to shield me from the assholes and dickheads of the world waiting to step on my Magic Shell® coated heart. I relied on her to stand between me and the hurt feelings I was so determined to avoid.

I looked for her tonight. I couldn’t find her.

You see, I’ve been out of sorts all day. Feeling tender-hearted, fragile, vulnerable for lots of reasons, none of which I fee...

Ocean City

I am a beach girl at heart. My best memories are all at the beach. In my children’s writing class we were asked to take a memory and use all of our senses to describe it. I was raised just outside of Washington, DC. Every year, my family spent a week in Ocean City. Written in 2005, this is my attempt to describe one of those memories.

Bits and pieces of broken seashell littered the coarse sand pricking the soles of my feet. Tiptoeing to the ocean’s edge, the suck and pull of the soft,...

My Apologies to You All

I just logged into Twitter for what has to be the first time in weeks only to see that some of you have been trying to contact me, others have been retweeting my posts and all have gone unacknowledged due to my sheer laziness when it comes to social media. My deepest and most humble thanks for your kindness followed by my most humble apologies.

Everyone who RT’d me … Thank You!

Those of you trying to email me, my address is gillian@blackdoorpress.com. If that doesn’t work use the “Contact Gilli...

How Can You Not Smile at These?

Just as I finished posting about being all angsty over the existential questions of life, I received an unexpected email with some very heartwarming pictures. Ones I didn’t know just how much I needed to see until they were in front of me. I guess the universe really does work in strange and mysterious ways. I received quite a few pictures, but I’m only posting my favorites and of course the Pitbull gets center stage. Here’s a smile for anyone else who needs one today.

Gillian and the Classics

Today is one of those days where your mind spins in on itself with all the existential questions … what am I achieving? Am I doing the right thing, etc., etc. to the point where I have a head ache. I’ve just meditated and am still restless. My boss is traveling, my latest proposal awaits feedback and I don’t feel like doing schoolwork. So, as is the case, whenever I’m looking to focus and other things don’t work, I’m writing. Aren’t you glad? Don’t answer that, I’m fragile today …

One of the e...

Please Help with My Daughter’s Homework …

My girlie needs to do a survey for her math class and she asked me to post these two questions on my blog. I would be most appreciative if you could reply in the comments to the following. She must do all the tallying and percents, etc. herself, so I’m not using the poll function.

My most humble and grateful thanks to all who answer!

Q1: Choose Your Favorite Soda

1. Mountain Dew

2. Coke

3. Pepsi

4. Sprite

5. Sierra Mist

6. RC Cola

Sunday Stealing: The Semi Charmed Meme, Part Two

21. A better name for me would be … That’s a good question. I don’t know at the moment. Gillian Colbert is a pen name and I’ve already changed my birth name legally once only to revert. I still don’t like my name or its meaning …to hide, also the root origin for the “djinn” – the evil spirits in Islam … so I’m definitely on the hunt for a name I can relate to. Once I find it, I’ll be heading down to the courthouse once again.
