Mark Cuban Says Inflation Is About to Get Worse—Here’s Why

Mark Cuban is sounding the alarm—and he’s not sugarcoating it. The billionaire investor and entrepreneur behind Cost Plus Drugs has taken to social media to warn Americans that we may be on the brink of a major consumer crisis.

According to Cuban, aggressive trade policies—especially the renewed push for tariffs—are going to hit everyday Americans where it hurts most: the checkout line. In a series of posts on Bluesky, Cuban predicted a combination of supply chain disruptions, rising transportation costs, and inflation that could leave store shelves empty and wallets thinner than ever.

“Importers are leaving inventory in China ports, waiting for tariffs to be lowered,” Cuban wrote. “If they are lowered enough, there will be a crush to ship them here and transport them when they get here. That will drive transportation costs way up.”

His four words—"more inflation, post tariffs."

This isn’t the first time Cuban has issued a warning. Not too long ago, he urged consumers to start stockpiling essentials like toothpaste and soap—a grim indicator of how severe he believes the economic fallout could be.

Related: Tough Economy Forces Americans to Rethink Mother’s Day Spending

"It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory. Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs," Cuban posted on Bluesky

And while some claim prices are falling, experts aren’t convinced. Analysts at Deloitte and Capital Economics have echoed Cuban’s concerns, noting that tariffs often raise prices without boosting domestic production—making them inflationary by nature. “Tariffs are simply inflation,” economist Bradley Saunders put it bluntly.

As Cuban sees it, the consequences are already taking shape. Layoffs, slower economic growth, and rate-cut delays from the Fed could all follow. There may be little opposition left to counter the tarriffs approach.

Whether Cuban’s predictions play out in full or not, his message is clear: brace yourself. The next phase of this trade war may be fought in your local grocery aisle.

Robert Pattinson Says He’s Going to Be ‘Old’ When 'The Batman 2' Begins Filming

It’s been over three years since Robert Pattinson’s The Batman was released, and the extended delay with few updates has left fans wondering what the future holds for the sequel.

The Matt Reeves-directed film also starred Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Colin Farrell as Penguin and Paul Dano as Riddler, among others. The original film received strong reviews, checking in with a score of 85% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 87% from fans.

However, speculation has run rampant in recent months about the sequel, with some chatter even citing that Reeves wouldn't direct The Batman 2. Fellow director James Gunn, who's currently working on Superman and previously directed the Guardians of the Galaxy series, shut that rumor down, though, as Cosmic Book News revealed.

Gunn responded to a question on X about whether Reeves was still directing it by stating: "Yes. Huh?"

He also denied a rumor that The Batman 2 had been canceled in November 2025. While that has seemingly shut down the questions surrounding Reeves for the time being, one name fans had heard little from about the movie was Batman himself, Pattinson.

Until just recently.

Pattinson spoke to Naomi Ackie for an interview with Hero Magazine and gave a candid answer when asked if he would play Batman again soon.

"I f***ing hope so," Pattinson said with a laugh. "I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f***ing old Batman by the sequel."

It sounds as though the plan for The Batman 2 continues to push forward, although it's not expected to hit theatres until 2027. Pattinson previously told Variety that he expected to begin filming the sequel before the end of 2025.

The Batman pulled in $772 million at the box office worldwide.

Rite-Aid Announces 47 Stores Are Closing Across 9 States

A bankrupt pharmacy chain has announced the initial closure of 47 stores spanning nine states.

According to Fast Company, the company is hoping to sell some of its other locations, of which there are many throughout the United States.

Altogether, Rite-Aid "has 1,277 pharmacies, three distribution centers, and more than 24,000 employees across 15 states," Fast Company reported, adding that the company is "hoping to sell many of its locations to preserve jobs."

Fast Company noted that some news reports have falsely said that all Rite-Aid locations are closing, when that hasn't been announced. Only the 47 stores have been announced for sure.

What are the locations of the first store closings?

According to a May 10, 2025, article by PennLive, Rite-Aid is closing stores in Pennsylvania, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Oregon, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Washington.

Rite-Aid has "indicated that a majority of its stores will remain open for only a few months," PennLive reported. The 47 stores were listed in the company's bankruptcy filing and are the first to close; indeed, a couple of them have already shut their doors, PennLive reported.

Rite-Aid's website contains the prominent statement reading, "Beginning, May 6, 2025, Rite Aid Rewards points will no longer be issued for qualifying purchases. All accrued points and BonusCash will expire per standard terms & conditions available at riteaid.com/rewards/terms-and-conditions. Rite Aid will no longer honor Rite Aid gift cards or accept any return or exchanges beginning June 5, 2025."

Rite-Aid already filed for bankruptcy once before in 2023, according to PennLive.

The company closed hundreds of stores the first time it went bankrupt, Fox Business reported, and the additional 47 closures are due to "financial underperformance and lack of interest from potential buyers."

Soviet Spacecraft Kosmos 482 Crashes to Earth After 53 Years

A Soviet-era spacecraft called Kosmos 482 has crashed on Earth after 53 years "stuck in orbit," according to The Associated Press.

According to the AP, both the Russian Space Agency and the European Union Space Surveillance and Tracking Agency confirmed the spacecraft had crashed on Earth.

The Russians "indicated it came down over the Indian Ocean," the AP wrote, but "some experts were not so sure of the precise location." No one appears to have been injured.

The Russian Space Agency wrote on Telegram, according to a translation, "The Kosmos-482 spacecraft left orbit and fell into the ocean. The Kosmos-482 spacecraft, launched in 1972, ceased to exist, leaving orbit and falling into the Indian Ocean."

According to calculations by specialists "from TsNIIMash (part of Roscosmos), the device entered the dense layers of the atmosphere at 9:24 Moscow time, 560 km west of Middle Andaman Island, and fell in the Indian Ocean west of Jakarta," the Russians wrote. Roscosmos is the Russian Space Agency's name.

"The spacecraft was launched in the spring of 1972 to explore Venus, but due to a malfunction in the booster block, it remained in a high elliptical orbit of the Earth, gradually approaching the planet," the Russians continued.

Live Science explained, "Following its failed launch, Kosmos 482 broke into several pieces consisting of the main body and the lander." The former piece entered Earth's atmosphere in 1981, the site reported. The descent craft "remained trapped inside a slowly decaying orbit that has persisted for more than 50 years," Live Science reported.

It wasn't clear how much of the spacecraft made it to Earth, though, because of the potential for it to disintegrate upon entering Earth's atmosphere. However, the AP noted that the ship "was built to withstand a landing on Venus, the solar system’s hottest planet."

"#EUSST is monitoring the re-entry of object Kosmos-482 Descent Craft (1972-023E #6073), the lander capsule of a spacecraft from 1972 intended to land in Venus. EU SST contributing sensors are observing the object to narrow down the re-entry window," the European Union Space Surveillance and Tracking agency wrote on X on May 6, 2025.

The EU SST wrote that the spacecraft's nature was "controlled."

"Due to its inclination of approximately 51.95 degrees, the object could re-enter within a latitude band of ±52 degrees, covering a vast area of the Earth’s surface," the agency wrote on its website. "Most of this area is ocean or uninhabited land, so the statistical probability of an impact on the ground in populated areas was low. As the re-entry approached, the predictions became more accurate, but uncertainties remained due to the object’s uncontrolled nature."

The EU SST "contributing sensors played a crucial role in observing the object and providing data for analysis. The EU SST Operations Centres used this data to produce the best possible estimation for the expected re-entry location and time. A ground track for the re-entry window was continuously updated, and the current window was refined as more data became available," the site says.

Netflix Fans Erupt in Anger Over Show Cancellations

Netflix fans are furious about the streamer's years of cancelled shows, and they're unloading about it on a social media thread.

Fans expressed anger over the cancellations of a variety of shows on a Reddit thread that was first posted on May 8, 2025, and titled, "I will never forgive you for this 💔" People then listed the shows they are most upset that Netflix has cancelled over the years.

Netflix has cancelled multiple shows in 2025 alone, but the Reddit thread wasn't limited to this year. Rather, it turns out that fans have long memories when it comes to their favorite shows being killed, especially if storylines are left hanging.

The original poster on Reddit included a collage with photos from Netflix's cancelled shows, including 1899, Gypsy, I Am Not Okay With This, and First Kill.

How does Netflix decide which shows to keep and which to cancel?

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos told Vulture, "It’s 70 percent gut and 30 percent data.”

According to Wired, Netflix has to take a show's cost into consideration.

In January 2023, Wired reported that 1899 wasn't continuing "despite debuting at the end of 2022 to positive reviews and a place on the streamer’s top 10 list."

"When mysterious events change the course of an immigrant ship headed for New York in 1899, a mind-bending riddle unfolds for its bewildered passengers," the Netflix blurb for the show says.

Fans offered up a variety of other shows that they're still angry at Netflix for cancelling.

"Mindhunter!!" one Reddit user declared. "We lost Mindhunter but got a billion reality shows no one asked for," another wrote.

Several others agreed that 1899 didn't deserve the axe. "1899 had so much potential," a fan of the show opined.

"1899 was the only one of these I watched, and I was gutted when I finished it to find out there would be no more. It was a slow burner, so definitely not for everyone, but it was so unique and I really wanted to see where it would go," another person agreed.

A fan explained, "I wish when shows like this get cancelled, the show runners would just come out and tell us what the end game, twist, secret, mystery was. Especially if after a time it’s clear no one else is picking it up, just give us a summary, the cliff notes, whatever."

Other Netflix shows receiving mentions on the thread included Spinning Out, The Society, Black Summer, Dead Boy Detectives, Lockwood & Co., Santa Clarita Diet, 1670, Nobody's Watching, Teenage Bounty Hunter, Archive 81, Inside Job, Marco Polo, Kaos, and OA.

‘Found’ Fans Rally to Rescue Show After Surprise Cancellation by NBC

NBC’s cancellation of Found has sparked an uproar—and a full-on rescue campaign—as fans, cast members, and even industry insiders call on other platforms to give the series a second chance.

The procedural drama, created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll and led by Shameless alum Shanola Hampton, follows Gabi Mosely, a crisis manager who specializes in missing persons cases while secretly harboring her own kidnapper in her basement. With its compelling premise, strong performances, and a cliffhanger-fueled Season 2 finale set to air May 15, Found had the kind of emotional hook many shows struggle to find. Now, fans are doing everything they can to keep it alive.

Despite a strong premiere that drew 10.5 million viewers across platforms, Found saw a significant drop in Season 2 ratings—down over 30% in the 18–49 demo. Still, many fans argue it was one of NBC’s strongest dramas.

Another added, “@peacock, @paramountplus—one of y’all better pick this up because there’s NO WAY NBC thought this was a smart move.”

"Noooo! We need a #SaveFound campaign #FoundNBC," another declared.

There may be reason for hope. According to Variety and Deadline, Warner Bros. Television, which co-produced the show, is actively shopping Found to other networks and streaming services. That’s sparked comparisons to Manifest, another NBC show famously rescued by Netflix after fan demand boiled over.

The final episode, titled “Missing While Dying,” promises to raise the stakes one last time—unless another network steps in. And fans are making it clear: they’re not letting this one go without a fight.

Fans Raging After NBC Cancels 5 Beloved Shows in 1 Day

NBC is facing backlash from TV fans after canceling five much-loved shows, a move that’s left viewers in disbelief and frustration. From freshman hits to established fan favorites, the network has delivered a brutal blow across multiple genres, signaling a shift that left many wondering where the good TV went.

Among the casualties is Suits LA, a spinoff of the wildly popular USA Network drama, which struggled to capture the same magic. Despite a star-studded cast led by Stephen Amell, the legal drama couldn’t hold its ground, ending its run after just one season.

Also on the chopping block were two strong performers: Found and The Irrational. Found, starring Shanola Hampton, revolved around a PR specialist dedicated to solving missing persons cases, while The Irrational, with Jesse L. Martin, saw a university professor using human behavior analysis to crack complex cases. Both shows earned loyal followings but couldn't outlast their two-season runs.

Lopez vs. Lopez and Night Court, comedies with strong fan bases, were also axed after three seasons each. The cancellation of these beloved shows sent shockwaves across social media, with fans venting their frustrations. “Now @nbc has cancelled #Found. I can’t believe this…I can name about 5 shows yall could let go besides this masterpiece. #disgusted,” one user expressed on X (formerly Twitter). Another added, “Hate this! I loved #Found, along with #TheIrrational. Why cancel???”

The outrage continued as viewers expressed their disbelief. Many fans called out the network for axing these shows while continuing to promote major sports programming. “NBC’s mass cancellations are a gut punch to loyal viewers. Axing 5 shows in one sweep sends a clear message: storytelling no longer matters. But it should. Prioritizing sports deals over long-term audience connection is a risky move that will cost them. Viewers aren’t disposable,” wrote one fan, summing up the sentiment felt by many.

Another noted how surprising it was for so many shows to go in one fell swoop. "I don’t remember a time when this amount of shows was canceled all at once. NBC said they had to make cuts due to them having the NBA this year and there are limited time slots. You have two networks. NBC and Peacock."

While NBC's decision was largely driven by limited time slots and the dominance of NBA basketball this season, fans aren’t happy about the cuts. The network's cancellation spree has left viewers questioning where their loyalty to TV networks stands, especially when fan-favorite series are so easily dismissed.

Study Shows 25 of 28 Major U.S. Cities Are Rapidly Sinking

It’s not just sea level rise threatening America’s cities—some of the ground itself is giving way. According to a new satellite-based study published May 8 in Nature Cities, every one of the 28 most populous U.S. cities is sinking to some degree, with many urban areas facing widespread land subsidence due to factors like groundwater depletion and oil and gas extraction. Cities affected include Chicago, Dallas, Columbus, Detroit, Fort Worth, Denver, New York, Indianapolis, Houston, and Charlotte...and more.

The worst offender? Houston. The Texas city is sinking faster than any other in the nation, with more than 40% of its urban area dropping over 5 millimeters per year—and 12% sinking at double that rate. In some localized spots, researchers found ground sinking by as much as two inches annually.

“This is the first high-resolution, satellite-based measurement of land subsidence across the 28 most populous U.S. cities,” lead author Leonard Ohenhen of Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory told USA Today. “It offers critical information for urban planning, infrastructure adaptation, and hazard preparedness.”

Related: Scientists Warn of Fatal Fungus Similar to 'The Last of Us' Disease

Dallas and Fort Worth aren’t far behind Houston, suggesting that Texas is facing a particularly intense version of this “invisible threat,” as the researchers call it. Much of the problem stems from massive and ongoing groundwater withdrawal. When water is pulled from underground aquifers and not replenished, the earth compacts—and the land above it sinks.

Related: This 20-Cent Diabetes Drug Could Help Fight Colon Cancer, Scientists Say

Subsidence isn’t just a geological curiosity. It’s a direct threat to urban infrastructure. Cracks in roads, buckling pavements, doors and windows that no longer shut properly, and warped foundations are all warning signs. Over time, the cumulative damage can compromise bridges, buildings, and entire neighborhoods.

Interestingly, three cities—San Jose, Memphis, and Jacksonville—showed signs of very slight uplift, but researchers caution that the effect is minimal and that those cities are still at risk.

With urban populations growing and water demands increasing, Ohenhen says now is the time to act: “As opposed to just saying it’s a problem, we can respond, address, mitigate, adapt.”

The Oldest Sci-Fi Show Ever Just Referenced Hemingway's Famous 6-Word Story

Once upon a time, legend has it, that author Ernest Hemingway claimed to have written the shortest short story ever. Although it's tough to say that this short story was really created by Papa Hemingway, the concept of a six-word story has stuck in the collective unconscious. And now, the oldest and longest-running sci-fi TV series ever—Doctor Who—just made Hemingway's famed six-word short story into a very big deal.

In the latest episode of Doctor Who, "The Story & the Engine," the titular Time Lord Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is faced with an alien "Barber" who steals people's stories to power a spider-like space craft. It's a brilliant episode about the power of storytelling and the need for legends. It is set in Lagos, touches on African folklore, and was written by Inua Ellams. But, perhaps the most pivotal moment of the story comes from the Doctor referencing Hemingway's famous six-word story, after he sees a set of Hemingway books stashed away in the lair of the Barber.

Related: Hemingway's Most Tender Novel is Suddenly in the Public Domain

As a Time Traveller, the Doctor reveals he met Hemingway at some point and says he challenged Hemingway to a short story contest. In real life, the six-word short story that Hemingway claims to have written is: "For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn." That said, some sources suggest that there's no way Hemingway invented this story since the connection to Hemingway began in 1991 (well after his death), and the story itself is much older. You also won't find it in any of Hemingway's short story collections, though some of his greatest stories (with similar themes) are very, very short, including "The Hills Like White Elephants" or "Cat in the Rain," the latter of which is less than 1,200 words.

In the timey-wimey Doctor Who context, the idea of a six-word story is made into a plot point by the Doctor when he challenges another character, the mysterious Barber (Ariyon Bakare), to tell his own six-word story.

For the Doctor, his science fiction six-word story is probably something Hemingway would approve of: "I'm born. I die. I'm born." This idea references the fact that in Doctor Who, the Doctor is semi-immortal, and when each version of the Doctor dies, another one "regenerates."

You can stream the new Doctor Who on Disney+. Past seasons of the 2005-2022 version, which this latest episode heavily references, are streaming on Max.
