Daily Sketch: Beachhead...

Another cover sketch back from NYCC last year. Busy scene, but fun to do for sure! I always dig drawing vipers. I'd like to put together a sketchbook or do a theme on my blog of all the cobra troopers and vipers.

Daily Sketch: TMNT Colors...

Just another step in the process. Colors here by Simon Gough on our TMNT cover project. He worked to keep the colors relatively clean so they wouldn't detract from the rest of the parts of the cover. It's fun to see the line art colored up in a classic style.

Daily Sketch: TMNT Covers...

This last summer I've signed on to do over a dozen Ninja Turtle covers for IDW. I'm crazy excited about a chance to draw the whole cast of the series. At least most if not all the major characters. It'll probably be awhile before I can show any of the final production art. It'll be covers for a new company doing exclusives.

Until I can show some of the final product art, here's some of the small line art that'll be part of all the covers.

Daily Sketch: D&D Character Tural Lighthammer colors...

I posted a little while back the inks for this character sketch. Colors by Simon Gough, as always the colors here bring out the atmosphere and character.

It's always a fun change of pace to do these kinds of character sketches. Hopefully my work schedule will allow me to fit in a few more soon.

Daily Sketch: Green Lantern Colors...

Not technically a sketch, but it's a colored version of one of the sketches I posted this month of Green Lantern. This one was done by my pal Simon Gough. Not for the official project, he just wanted to do this as a fun warm up for his work day. I of course was happy to see him do it, and man it lines up so well with the other GL piece I have done by Kyle Ritter. So cool to see these side by side!

Daily Sketch: JLA Trinity...

I posted a horrible phone camera shot of this and didn't have a good scan. Well my friend Adonis, that I did this sketch for sent me a great shot of the book all graded and ready for display. I thought it would fit great in my JLA line up of characters I've done this month and a good one to end on.

I have just one more done, that is a color piece that I'll show tomorrow.

Daily Sketch: Green Lantern...again.

More Hal Jordan Green Lantern! I do this type of pose a lot. Not really on purpose, but in general when you need a shot of a super hero coming out at you....this is what you typically get. It's always more fun to try and work story into these shots, but in this case the story is all on separate layers. So you're just left with the character...coming right out at you! Just two more JLA pieces to come!

Daily Sketch: Superman Blows...

Yeah, this is a weird one when you take the figure out of the scene he's depicted in. He's using his cold super breath and blowing apart this cage he's encased in. But when you take out the cold breath effects and explosive cage, you're left with "Weird-Face Superman" which... is a weird.

Anyway, here you go, another daily sketch down.

I've got a few days of Green Lantern sketches coming up here. This was one of my favorites. Just him standing there mid-air with his ring blazing. But that classic iconic shot of GL just made my day to draw. Lots of fun getting to do all these superheroes lately!
