Another Cover Update
…and after seeing the new cover for Sha’Daa: Tales of the Apocalypse last night, I received an email this morning from another publisher about the cover for Hero’s Best Friend, where my storyHill 142resides and is awaiting print. The cover is in, and I must say that it looks gorgeous. There’s going to be a big reveal this Thursday, but once more am I blessed with a publisher who puts out amazing covers.
You’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but if the cover looks bad ass, the poten...

New Book
So an interesting development…
As you may already know, I had a story titledCrouching Seal, Sleeping Dragonpublished in a shared-world type of anthology calledSha’Daa: Pawnsin 2012. It was pretty well-received all in all, and I created one my favorite characters to date.
Fast forward to this evening. The editor/creator of the series, Michael H. Hanson, sent me an email asking me if I would mind moving my story fromPawns(which was already released) over to his re-release ofSha’Daa: Tales of the...

My Annual Hugo Pie Fathe: Overt Thexual Innuendo Edithon, Parth the Secondth
I often wonder if the Hugo is like a thick, creamy facial for the writer. Meant to be pleasing and give someone a backhanded compliment about how good they look, but end up with a bit of it in the eyes and boy does that cold creme burn like a motherf*cker!
What, you thought…? Oh, you dirty bastard.
I was sure I had a clever and witty post for today, but once again did I read Larry Correia’sSad Puppy Campaign II: Rainbow Puppy Lighthouse the Huggeningand wascompletelyderailed. I mean, come on La...

With A Screeching Yowl
Funny story:
I had just updated the site when all of a sudden my computer made this pissed-off cat sound. Cat owners, you know which one I’m talking about. That low growl escalating into a high-pitched crescendo, followed by a deep hiss? Yeah, that one.
Well, it made that noise and my computer screen died, and everything froze. I swear (creatively, I’ll add) and reboot the system.
Nothing.
Oh hell.
Try it again.
Same results.
So I hop on my phone (yay, smartphones!) and message my editor, informing...

End of Year Time
Tonight I’m going to celebrate the end of 2013 with panache and class.
Yep, I’m going to crack open a bottle of champagne, cook up some finger foods and pass out around 11:30PM. That’s just how I roll.
I’m so hardcore.
I’m looking back over 2013 and I must say I’m rather pleased with what I’ve accomplished. I passed my 2013 word count goal of 370,000 by a lot (501,200 is the rounded down number) and finishedWraithkin(100,000 words). I also wrote the sequel toHomeworldwith Eric Brown in September...

It’s Too Real In Here
Jason, you haven’t updated in, like, forever!said nobody.
Christmas was good for me this year. Most of you already know I got a 4 pound container of jelly beans (oh, and some cash) and some books and clothes (which, quite frankly, is all I ever seem to want. Cash, book, and clothes), as well as ordered my new uniform (I have shoulder boards now… wow). Gearing up for Mysticon and basically prepping for the end of the year as we know it.
I worked onCollectiblesa bit over Christmas, but I’m not re...

Reading Materialist
Wraithkinis with the agent now. I have two weeks to complete myDark Cornersanthology story (Collectibles). I should have written it months ago, but life kept getting in the way. Okay, life and other novels. And other short stories. Okay, okay, I just suck as a human being. I’ll get it done before the deadline, even if I have to pull an all–nighter again (like I did forWake… uh, nobody tell the publisher that I wrote Wakein two days).
Sorry that my last post got so political. I typically stay o...

Scientia Potentia Est
We’re all gonna die!
Well, eventually. But if you read the news, you’d think it’s going to happen every single day.
I’m not sure why the human psyche craves sensationalism. Even in the days of ancient Greece, sensationalist news and information was far more digested by the populous than actual cold, hard facts. It’s something I’ve never been able to wrap my head around, the human collective need for exciting news.
I’m not immune to this. I’ll be the first to admit it. When I see a breathless rep...

Troll Baiting
So apparently trolls are all the rage these days. I hadnoidea.
I love reading the blogs of authors I like to… uh, read? That sounded a lot better in my head. Anyway, so I was reading Larry Correia’s blog around 5 this morning and saw that there was a troll in the dungeon. I read quite a few of the comments and thought “Yay! Troll baiting!”
Troll baiting, you see, is a time-honored practice among the men and women of the woolly north who use tactics such as snarkiness, double entendres and wit t...
